250,000 Virginians Set to Receive Health Insurance Cancellation Notices.

250,000 Virginians Set to Receive Health Insurance Cancellation Notices.(Heritage).
A quarter-million Virginians likely will lose their health insurance plans by the end of the year because their plans to do not meet the requirements of the Affordable Care Act.
That’s in addition to the thousands of Virginians who already had lost their plans over the last year because of non-compliance with the ACA, popularly known as Obamacare.

Those who lose their health care plans can purchase another that complies with the ACA — but they’ll likely pay higher premiums each month.

A Manhattan Institute study found that older men (around age 64) are the only general group benefiting from lower rates than before because of the ACA. Young men (around age 27) are suffering the most from higher premiums as a result of Obamacare — an average 67 percent monthly increase.

The announcement is certainly timely ammunition for Ed Gillespie, the Republican who is running to replace Sen. Mark Warner, D-Va., and already has been campaigning on Warner’s vote for Obamacare.

The latest Christopher Newport University poll shows Warner with a 22-point lead over Gillespie.

House Oversight Committee Chairman Darrell Issa Suggests Sebelius May Have Committed Perjury.

House Oversight Committee Chairman Darrell Issa Suggests Sebelius May Have Committed Perjury.HT: WhiteHouseDossier.

In a sharply worded letter sent today to HHS Secretary Kathleen Sebelius, House Oversight Committee Chairman Darrell Issa (R-Calif.) suggested Sebelius may have perjured herself before Congress, accusing her of providing “false and misleading” testimony before various congressional panels about Healtcare.gov.

Issa, who said testimony and documents obtained by the committee contradicted several Sebelius statements, pressed for revisions and explanations of her testimony and demanded documents and communications made as part of the preparation for her appearances.

Moreover, Issa accused Sebelius of misleading Congress about the health of the website.

He reminded her that giving false testimony to Congress is a crime:
“Witnesses who purposely give false or misleading testimony during a congressional hearing may be subject to criminal liability,” he wrote.

The letter cites four examples of allegedly false statements:
  • That MITRE Corp., a contractor hired by HHS, was conducting ongoing security testing;
  • That MITRE’s preliminary report “did not raise flags about going ahead;”
  • That “no one… suggested that the risks outweighed the importance of moving forward;”
  • That MITRE made recommendations to CMS about moving forward.
And Issa wrote:
Your failure during numerous Congressional hearings to explicitly mention the serious problems with security testing in the month prior to launch creates the appearance that you carefully chose language that would mislead Members of Congress and the American public.

HHS indicated it would respond to the letter, but so far does not appear to have publicly addressed the charges directly.

Catholic Groups Win First Amendment Victory Over ObamaCare.

Catholic Groups Win First Amendment Victory Over ObamaCare.HT: Investors.
In yet another legal blow to the president's signature law, a federal judge rules that its contraceptive mandate does not trump Catholic groups' right to exercise their religious liberty and conscience.
Religious liberty advocates and First Amendment defenders are cheering the stunning decision by U.S. District Judge Brian Cogan in New York that promises to speed up the unraveling of ObamaCare. Cogan not only found that the Health and Human Services (HHS) regulation that requires health insurance to include contraceptive coverage was constitutionally questionable, he actually forbade HHS from enforcing it.

As the New York Post details, in ruling on the lawsuit, Cogan decided that the plaintiffs "demonstrated that the mandate, despite accommodation, compels them to perform acts that are contrary to their religion. And there can be no doubt that the coercive pressure here is substantial."

Most prior lawsuits have focused on the law's constitutionality. Cogan's ruling deals with its regulatory enforcement based on the phrase "the secretary shall determine" that appears in the Affordable Care Act no fewer than 1,005 times. This ruling essentially says that HHS Secretary Kathleen Sebelius cannot enforce a mandate that Congress did not approve and that she cannot unilaterally decide what the First Amendment means or whether it is rendered irrelevant by her edicts. In other words, regulations do not trump the Constitution.

While the injunction is permanent, it applies only to the four groups that brought the lawsuit — Monsignor Farrell High School on Staten Island, Catholic Health Services of Long Island, the ArchCare health care group and Cardinal Spellman High School in the Bronx.

Yet the lawsuit is likely to be replicated nationwide by other groups. At last count, some 75 similar lawsuits have been filed by nonprofits and religious groups seeking relief from the contraceptive mandate, Jennifer Lee, a lawyer for the American Civil Liberties Union, told the New York Daily News.

The U.S. Supreme Court has agreed to hear the administration's appeal, and we may soon get a final ruling on whether this nation's founders actually meant it when they said there should be no law, or regulation, prohibiting the free exercise of religion. Read the full story here.

Fifty-three percent of the uninsured disapprove of Obamacare.

Fifty-three percent of the uninsured disapprove of Obamacare.HT: WhiteHouseDossier. New York Times.

A New York Times poll released today says that the uninsured dislike Obamacare even more than the insured do.

In other news, kids under six were found less likely to believe in Santa than their parents.

Fifty-three percent of the uninsured disapprove of the law, the poll found, compared with 51 percent of those who have health coverage. A third of the uninsured say the law will help them personally, but about the same number think it will hurt them, with cost a leading concern.
They get it. It’s proof of the maxim that average Americans understand things better than Harvard professors. Because average Americans have to live in the real world, where they have bills. They get that in the real world,
YOU DON’T GET SOMETHING FOR NOTHING.
Someone’s going to have to pay for all these wondrous benefits. All the Free Gifts Obama is handing out. Even Santa’s elves have to put food on the table for their families. Obama Claus’s presents come with a price.
The liberal intellectuals roaming the corridors of the West Wing actually do believe in Santa Claus. They think they can drop down the chimney and provide something for nothing, and if a bill somehow happens to come due, they can convince Beijing to cover it.

There are ways to help the uninsured without crippling the entire health care system. Once Obamacare is finished with the medical profession and the economy, even the uninsured will be worse off than before.

"You Are Leaving the Obama Care Sector" - ObamaCare Found To Restrict Where You Live And Travel.

"You Are Leaving the Obama Care Sector" - ObamaCare Found To Restrict Where You Live And Travel. (IV).
It's bad enough that the president's health insurance takeover costs more, breaks his pledge of letting you keep your plan and diminishes choice. It actually restricts your travels too.
'We have never had to put a wall up to keep our people in." Those words from President John F. Kennedy in June 1963, standing at the Berlin Wall, neatly illustrated the moral superiority of the free West over the Soviet bloc.

But Americans are now about to find themselves grappling with their own bureaucratic Berlin Wall.
The American Thinker's Stella Paul has exposed the virtually unnoticed fact that within the ObamaCare exchanges so many Americans are being forced into, "most plans only provide local medical coverage."
Paul warns this will have "a profound impact on the real-estate market, particularly the second home sector, and on the travel business." She interviewed one Connecticut retiree whose health required having a winter home in South Carolina. Her $450-per-month, $2,500 deductible, no co-pay Blue Cross policy that had worked well in both states was suddenly canceled.

The new policy she was offered under ObamaCare was twice as expensive, with a deductible costing $1,000 more, and no out-of-network coverage.

Having had a surgery at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center in New York City, out-of-network coverage was a must. And she found it. "It's $900 a month," she told Paul, "with a $7,000 deductible and a co-pay on everything. Basically, it's catastrophic insurance, and I'll be paying my South Carolina doctors out of pocket."

A prominent New York insurance broker pointed out that most of the policies offered on the ObamaCare exchanges are not national networks, so "if you need routine medical services, they will not be covered when you leave your local area," as they were before.

Travel health insurance, unfortunately, only covers emergencies. So, the broker told Paul, "a large portion of the population will have their insurance as a consideration for their mobility, which they never had before."
Imagine having to take all this into account in making decisions about where in America you want to live.

And as Paul asks, "With Americans no longer able to receive routine medical services when they travel, will they start showing up in emergency rooms for sore throats and backaches? And how will these new throngs of patients affect the waiting time of people with genuine medical emergencies?"

Meet the latest unpleasant ObamaCare surprise, right on the heels of HHS Secretary Kathleen Sebelius this week finally admitting that, contrary to Obama's endlessly repeated promise, "there are some individuals who may be looking at increases" in premiums.

Unrestricted movement is a birthright of our liberty. Even socialized medicine's harshest opponents didn't suspect Washington would trample that freedom.Hmmm......I'm Not A Dictator.Read the full story here.

"You ain't seen nothing yet!" - The Coming Obamacare debacle.

"You ain't seen nothing yet!" - The Coming Obamacare debacle.HT: WhiteHouseDossier.
Writing in the Wall Street Journal, former George H.W. Bush Council of Economic Advisors Chairman Michael Boskin outlines in stunning detail the horror set to unfold as Obamacare really starts to kick in next year.
Hide the children. Here are the gory details.
Didn’t read the fine print on you insurance? Took the “do nothing and automatically re-enroll” option and renewed your plan without looking at next year’s rates?

Well, get set to find out about those higher deductibles as you stand at the doctor’s office reception desk. And then learn of your new deductible when you get the Explanation of Benefits and a bill – yes, a BILL – for the full amount of your procedure.

Meanwhile, the shock of losing your doctor goes from the realm of theory to the harsh cold world of reality as insurers try to limit their losses from the older, less-well patients likely to over-enlist in Obamacare. Networks will become more restrictive as insurers jettison the best doctors and hospitals, reducing the quality of your health care.

That’s business. Which of course is a concept ignored by Obamacare, which assumes people will offer the same services for a lower price.

There will be suffering – physical suffering – among those who currently have insurance, implies Boskin:
Next year, millions must choose among unfamiliar physicians and hospitals, or paying more for preferred providers who are not part of their insurance network. Some health outcomes will deteriorate from a less familiar doctor-patient relationship.
Just try calling for an appointment in January, and you’ll get that sound over the phone we all love . . . “His first available is in June.”
There will be longer waits for hospital visits, doctors’ appointments and specialist treatment, as more people crowd fewer providers.
But you’ll have more time to call around, since you might be working part time  - or not at all – as your company attempts to pare its workforce to escape Obamacare mandates.
And watch for that exciting, little known new feature of Obamacare that we’ll all soon behold, The Insurance Company Bailouts! Step right this way!
That’s right. If insurers’ costs are too high because they’re taking care of all those new patients in poor health, you, taxpayer, must foot the bill.
If, as many predict, too few healthy young people sign up for insurance that is overpriced in order to subsidize older, sicker people, the insurance market will unravel in a “death spiral” of ever-higher premiums and fewer signups. The government, through taxpayer-funded “risk corridors,” is on the hook for billions of dollars of potential insurance-company losses. This will be about as politically popular as bank bailouts.
Further malaise in coming after 2014.

Your local services will go down – less for education and transportation – and taxes will go up as states struggle in a few years to pay for Obamacare’s vast Medicaid expansion.
The medical profession will become a wasteland.
On the supply side, medicine will become a far less attractive career for talented young people. More doctors will restrict practice or retire early rather than accept lower incomes and work conditions they did not anticipate. Already, many practices are closed to Medicaid recipients, some also to Medicare. The pace of innovation in drugs, medical devices and delivery is expected to slow significantly, as higher taxes and even rationing set in.
There is, of course, a silver lining. The failed Obamacare website is actually an emblem of the atrocious thinking that has gone into our new health care system. It is government planning gone too far and finally revealed for what it is.

This is all going to get so bad, so fast, that repeal will become a very real and popular option. But not before 2017, when Obama is gone, and the misery has already piled up far too high.

JW Nationwide Search Reveals Massive Health Insurance Policy Cancellations Resulting from Obamacare Mandates

JW Nationwide Search Reveals Massive Health Insurance Policy Cancellations Resulting from Obamacare Mandates.HT: Judicialwatch.

State Records Show Insurance Company Cancellation Notices Specifically Cite ACA Requirements as Central Factor in Decision

(Washington, DC) – Judicial Watch today released state records revealing high numbers of policy cancellations as a direct result of requirements of the Affordable Care Act (ACA), also known as Obamacare. Statements in the records, which include filings by health insurance companies with state regulators, directly contradict claims by the Obama administration and its allies that Obamacare was not responsible for Americans losing health insurance coverage. These new records were obtained as part of a nationwide Judicial Watch investigation to assess the damage wrought by Obamacare to the insurance marketplace.
The state records came in response to Judicial Watch public record requests sent to each state’s insurance division, seeking the following:
The number of group and non-group comprehensive (major medical) health insurance policies for which the [STATE INSURANCE DIVISION] has received notice or report of the carrier canceling or non-renewing, or intending to cancel or non-renew, such policies, and for which the coverage termination date is after June 3, 2013, along with the number of individuals covered by such policies as of the policy termination dates.
According to those states that have responded to date, hundreds of thousands of formerly insured individuals have had their insurance policies cancelled or non-renewed due to Obamacare mandates.
Contradicting claims by the White House and leading congressional Democrats, the records obtained by Judicial Watch reveal that many insurance carriers specifically cite the new requirements of the ACA as a central factor in their decision, and even inform their policyholders as much.  Typical of such notifications were the following from Oregon, where at least 145,000 individuals will lose health insurance coverage:
  • New York Life Insurance Company informed Oregon’s Insurance Division that it was discontinuing a group health insurance plan offered to an association and provided a sample letter to policyholders, notifying them of the cancellation, with the following language:
“The decision to exit the medical care marketplace was not an easy one but the evolving market conditions in the health insurance industry under Health Care Reform laws and regulations which are named Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (‘PPACA’) prevent us from continuing to offer competitive medical insurance for association plans such as yours. Please do not hesitate to contact me if you have any questions regarding the actions described in this letter.”
  • Another health insurance provider in Oregon, Moda Health Plan, informed the state that it was exiting the individual health insurance market there, and provided a sample letter to policyholders that contained this language:
“We’re happy you chose Moda Health, and we want you to stick with us as healthcare laws change. As part of the Affordable Care Act implementation in Oregon, all of our individual and family health plans will be discontinued. That means you’ll have to enroll in a new plan. But don’t worry! We have some great choices.”
  • Providence Health Plan notified the Oregon Insurance Division that it was discontinuing its portability health insurance plans, and provided a sample letter to policyholders containing this wording:
“The first thing you need to know is that, due to changes related to the Affordable Care Act, or ACA, all portability plans, including your existing plan, will be discontinued after Dec. 31, 2013 and, therefore, you will need to choose new health plan coverage.”
In addition to the records from Oregon, Judicial Watch has received the following cancellation information from six other states to date:
  • Connecticut: At least 26,451 polices will be cancelled in 2013 and 23,504 in 2014. Those will leave 41,169 individuals in 2013 and 38,601 in 2014 with cancelled health care coverage.
  • Pennsylvania: Pennsylvania insurance department officials reported that 250,000 Pennsylvanians are losing their coverage.
  • Arkansas: With five out of nine companies providing the number of polices, individuals covered, or both; the totals are 62 policies cancelled affecting at least 537 individuals. Chesapeake Life Insurance, Independence American Insurance Company, Madison National Life Insurance Company, New York Life, and Standard Security Life Insurance Company all state that their decision was prompted by Obamacare.
  • Georgia: While not all companies specified the number of individuals affected, records reveal that Obamacare mandates will result in 727 polices being cancelled, with at least 1,006 individuals losing their coverage.
  • Delaware: Emails between the Delaware Department of Insurance and companies detailing the number of polices and individuals covered reveal that, while not all companies specified individual coverage, the total number of polices listed is 4,599, with at least 9,743 individuals losing health care coverage.
  • North Dakota: According to North Dakota insurance department officials, 36,875 individuals are losing coverage in that state.
As additional information from other states becomes available, Judicial Watch will provide it on an ongoing basis.
The massive cancellations are in direct contradiction to statements by President Obama and congressional leaders dating back to the introduction of the health care act. As early as August 11, 2009, Obama assured a New Hampshire town hall meeting, “If you like your health care plan, you can keep your health care plan.” According to Breitbart.com, Obama repeated the statement at least 23 times in the ensuing years. Responding to questions on a November 17, 2013, edition of NBC’s “Meet the Press,” former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) told the interviewer, “The law does not demand that all of these cancellations go out.” It is estimated that more than 4.8 million Americans have received health insurance cancellations to date because of the Obamacare mandates.
Despite these reports, White House adviser Valerie Jarrett tweeted on October 28, “FACT: Nothing in #Obamacare forces people out of their health plans.”

“The entire Obamacare fraud relies on lies,” said Judicial Watch President Tom Fitton. “According to requirements the administration had written into the law from the very beginning, the Obama administration knew that 40 to 67 percent of customers will not be able to keep their policies. The information Judicial Watch is gathering state-by-state bears that out.
These snapshots of information show that Obamacare is causing a national health insurance crisis that demands immediate action.”

Larry the Cable Guy was on with Sean Hannity tonight. He had Sean in stitches when he described the Obamacare plans:
“It’s a disaster. But I have figured a lot of it out. I figured out the Bronze plan. The Bronze plan is the color your finger’s going to look like after you give yourself a prostrate exam. The gold plan is when you start to miss your wedding ring after you had to pay for the deductible. The silver plan is what color your hair is going to be after you sign up for it.”

On Fox and Friends, former Vice President Dick Cheney attacked President Obama and his team for their promise that people could keep their plan under Obamacare if they liked it.
“It was a lie. It was deliberate. They knew if they told the truth, the bill would’ve never passed,” said Cheney.
He made a personal argument against the president, citing his well-documented heart troubles which he said required having access to the same doctors over the years.

“One of the most important decisions I made was I had exactly two doctors who covered me over that 35-year period of time and that was crucial in terms of my care,” explained Cheney.Read the full story here.

Pres Obama Just ‘Misspoke’ 29 times About Keeping Your Plan, Or Something.

Pres Obama Just ‘Misspoke’ 29 times About Keeping Your Plan, Or Something.(IU).
President Barack Obama told his enthusiastic supporters Monday night that he never promised what video recordings show him promising at least 29 times.

The videos show Obama promising 300 million Americans that “if you like your health-care plan, you will be able to keep your health-care plan, period.”

But that’s not what he really said, Obama announced Monday in a speech to about 200 Organizing for Action supporters, gathered at the St. Regis hotel in D.C.
“What we said was you could keep it if it hasn’t changed since the law was passed,” he told Obamacare’s political beneficiaries and contractors.
That claim is not supported by his videotaped statements, which don’t include any mention of his new “if it hasn’t changed” exception.
But the newly-revealed exception is justified by a higher-priority promise in Obamacare, Obama declared.
“If we had allowed these old plans [to continue]… then we would have broken an even more important promise — making sure that Americans gain access to health care that doesn’t leave them one illness away from financial ruin,” he announced.

“So the bottom line is, is that we are making the insurance market better for everybody,” he declared, prompting loud applause by supporters eager to ignore his three years of fraudulent statements.
Obama’s higher promise is now causing the cancelation of insurance policies chosen by at least 3.5 million Americans.

The cancellations are spreading from the individual market to the small-group market. For example, Kentucky’s Department of Insurance has reported that 150,000 people in small-group plans — typically created for employees of small companies — are losing their insurance.

Obama urged his supporters to counter the political effect of the many cancellations by highlighting good-news stories, and by reassuring people who have lost their insurance that they can buy new Obamacare-compliant policies.

“I realize that can be scary for people if they just get some [cancellation] notice like that… we’ve got to make sure that we’re getting them the right information,” he said.

But he also tried to downplay the Obamacare-caused cancellations, which are creating a wave of bad publicity that is hammering his poll ratings and his political clout.

“People are acting like this is some new phenomenon… every year there was churn in this individual market” before the law was passed, he complained.

But Americans’ complaints are subordinate to his political goals, he suggested.
“We decided we need to build something better, no matter how hard it is,” he declared.
Under that better progressive-managed system, some people’s health-care costs are going to jump, but it will be good for them, Obama said.

“Some Americans with higher incomes will pay more on the front end for better insurance with better benefits and better protections that could eventually help them a lot, even if right now they’d rather be paying less,” he announced.

Obama’s deceptive statements were deliberate and were intended to bolster Obama’s ability to get Obamacare passed in 2010 and him reelected in 2012, according to aides cited in a Wall Street Journal article Saturday.

“Simplification and ease of explanation were a premium, and that was true throughout the process,” Jon Favreau, who was Obama’s senior speech writer, told the journal’s writers.

Despite Obama’s new claims to his supporters, his “if it hasn’t changed” exception is not recorded in even one of his many videotaped “you can keep it” promises to Americans.

“We will keep this promise to the American people… if you like your health-care plan, you will be able to keep your health-care plan, period,” Obama said June 23, 2009.

“If you like your insurance plan, you will keep it. No one will be able to take that away from you.  It hasn’t happened yet.  It won’t happen in the future,” Obama told voters on April Fool’s Day, 2010, after the law was signed.

He repeated the unqualified promise in the run-up to the 2012 election. “If you’ve got health insurance…. you keep your own insurance, you keep your own doctor,” he declared in one of the three presidential debates.

However, Obama didn’t spend all of his Nov. 4 speech denying the videotapes.

He did confess that he and his aides may have made some mistakes, such as failing to manage the development of the Obamacare website.
“We got [Obamacare] done. Now, let’s face it, a lot of us didn’t realize that passing the law was the easy part.”Hmmm.......Rumor has it Obama and the Devil take classes in Lying, but i don't know how much the pres charges the Devil.

Video - Obamacare Website Is “Fixable”.........

Frustrated with trying to enroll on HealthCare.gov? Try again in a month.

According Jeff Zients, the Obama appointee tasked with smoothing out the site’s kinks, that’s how long it’ll take to get the glitchy online marketplace fully functional.

“Let me be clear: HealthCare.gov is fixable,” he said. Most of the “front end” problems have already been cleared up and 90 percent of people can create accounts. After that, it all sort of falls apart and only 3 in ten users have found success viewing plans and actually enrolling. A private firm, QSSI, was selected to be in charge of the effort. Read more at The Washington Post.
