Trudeau's plan: Create a Global warming carbon tax & replace a balanced budget with a $10 billion debt stimulus

Canada's Trudeau Promises A Kind Of Obamanomics-Lite. (IBD).

After nine years with conservative Stephen Harper in charge, Canada has veered left, electing liberal Justin Trudeau as prime minister. We wish him well, but fear his policies will drag the economy down.

The younger Trudeau, 43, is personable and movie-star handsome. With just a whiff of Barack Obama, he speaks of a Canada that will be "open and confident and hopeful." Those appear to be his qualifications.

Say what you will about Harper, he succeeded in steering Canada away from left-wing economic foolishness onto a path of responsibility.
A trained economist, Harper cut taxes, backed free trade, cut spending, created a budget surplus, reduced national debt, revived economic growth, avoided a U.S.-style housing crisis and deftly sidestepped much of the global warming nonsense that now hobbles the U.S. economy.
And during his years in office, Canada's middle class became the wealthiest in the world, surpassing the U.S.

But what will Trudeau do? It's hard to say, since he mostly ran as the "I'm Not Stephen Harper" candidate.

But from recent speeches, it seems that Trudeau plans a kind of Obamanomics-lite. Specifically, while the budget now is balanced, Trudeau plans on a Keynesian "stimulus" of roughly $10 billion a year. Sorry, but government deficits don't create growth.

On climate change, Trudeau's party has favored a national carbon tax. That would be an economic disaster.

Americans should be concerned. Of our $2.3 trillion in global exports, more than 20% go to Canada. If its economy suffers, so will ours.

As we said, we wish Trudeau the best of luck. From what we see of his policy plans, he'll need it. Hmmmmm........Another 'Obamination' in the make. Read the full story here.

$2 Billion NSA Spy Center is Going Up in Flames.

$2 Billion NSA Spy Center is Going Up in Flames.(TheFiscalTimes).

The National Security Agency’s $2 billion mega spy center is going up in flames.Technical glitches have sparked fiery explosions within the NSA’s newest and largest data storage facility in Utah, destroying hundreds of thousands of dollars worth of equipment, and delaying the facility’s opening by one year.
And no one seems to know how to fix it.

For a country that prides itself on being a technology leader, not knowing the electrical capacity requirements for a system as large as this is quite questionable.
Within the last 13 months, at least 10 electric surges have each cost about $100,000 in damages, according to documents obtained by the Wall Street Journal. Experts agree that the system, which requires about 64 megawatts of electricity-that’s about a $1 million a month energy bill–isn’t able to run all of its computers and servers while keeping them cool, which is likely triggering the meltdowns.
The contractor that designed the flawed system-Pennsylvania-based Klingstubbins–said in a statement that it has “uncovered the issue” and is working on “implementing a permanent fix.”
But that’s not the case, according to the Army Corps of Engineers (ACE), which is in charge of overseeing the data center’s construction. ACE disagreed with the contractor and said the meltdowns are “not yet sufficiently understood.”
A report by ACE in the Wall Street Journal said the government has incomplete information about the design of the electrical system that could pose new problems if settings need to change on circuit breakers. The report also said regular quality controls in design and construction were bypassed in an effort to “fast track” the project.
The facility-named the Utah Data Center-is the largest of several new NSA data centers central to the agency’s massive surveillance program that was exposed by former NSA contractor turned leaker Edward Snowden earlier this year.
Communications from all around the world in the form of emails, cell phone calls and Google searches, among other digital details are stored in the center’s databases, which are said to be larger than Google’s biggest data center. But due to the major system meltdowns, the NSA hasn’t been able to use the center’s databases, which it has claimed are crucial for national security.Hmmm......Another 'Obamination'.

North Carolina Lieutenant Governor Dan Forest Reveals the Bureaucracy 'Blockade' Behind Common Core.

North Carolina Lieutenant Governor Dan Forest Reveals the Bureaucracy 'Blockade' Behind Common Core.HT: Heritage.

Why did North Carolina Lieutenant Governor Dan Forest just receive 40,000 sheets of paper in the mail?
In July, Forest sent the state’s Department of Public Instruction (DPI) a request for information on the Common Core national standards.
DPI officials responded by asking Forest to send them 10,000 sheets of blank paper so they could answer the 67 questions. He obliged.

On August 2, he received his official reply: “12 boxes containing approximately 40,000 sheets of paper, with a cover letter that did not directly answer any of his 67 questions, but rather referred him to 134 separate websites, linking to over 100 separate pages, 320 separate reports, hundreds of original source documents, 40 presentations, 1 blog post and a thumb drive.”
Forest’s response:
This is government bureaucracy at its best. When an administrative body that is required to provide information to its board members fails to be forthcoming with the requested information it should raise a red flag.
The actions by the DPI and the amount of paperwork attached to the Common Core illustrate that this push for national standards and tests not only is a threat to educational freedom but fosters the same type of bureaucratic compliance mentality that has developed as federal intervention in education has grown over the years.

Forest is upholding his official duty to the people of North Carolina by questioning this very large and very expensive centralized initiative. He announced this week that he will mail a copy of the DPI’s letter to every member of the General Assembly, all 115 school superintendents, all elected county commissioners, and all local school board members statewide so that they will “understand the full scope of what is in the process of being implemented in their local communities.”

Forest is also demonstrating that it’s not too late for states to reconsider their involvement with Common Core and ultimately hop off the national standards bandwagon.

Another 'Obamination' - Pentagon: The Chinese stole our newest weapons.

Another 'Obamination' - Pentagon: The Chinese stole our newest weapons'.(RT).
Blueprints for the Pentagon’s most advanced weaponry, including the Black Hawk helicopter and the brand new Littoral Combat Ship used by the Navy, have all been compromised, the Defense Science Board claims in a new confidential report.
The Washington Post acknowledged late Monday that they have seen a copy of the report and confirmed that the Chinese now have the know-how to emulate some of the Pentagon’s most sophisticated programs.

“This is billions of dollars of combat advantage for China,” a senior military official not authorized to speak on the record told Post reporters. “They’ve just saved themselves 25 years of research and development.” “It’s nuts,” the source said of the report.

The Defense Science Board, a civilian advisory committee within the Pentagon, fell short of accusing the Chinese of stealing the designs. However, the Post’s report comes on the heels of formal condemnation courtesy of the DoD issued only earlier this month. “In 2012, numerous computer systems around the world, including those owned by the US government, continued to be targeted for intrusions, some of which appear to be attributable directly to the Chinese government and military,” the Defense Department alleged in a previous report.

According to the Post, the plans for the advanced Patriot missile system, an Army anti-ballistic program and a number of aircraft have all ended up in the hands of the Chinese. The result could mean the People’s Republic is working towards recreating the hallmarks of America’s military might for their own offensive purposes, while also putting China in a position where even the most advanced weaponry in the world won’t be able to withstand complex defensive capabilities once those projects are reverse engineered.

“If they got into the combat systems, it enables them to understand it to be able to jam it or otherwise disable it,” Winslow T. Wheeler, director of the Straus Military Reform Project at the Project on Government Oversight, told the Post. “If they’ve got into the basic algorithms for the missile and how they behave, somebody better get out a clean piece of paper and start to design all over again.”

Mandiant, a US security firm located outside of Washington, reported earlier this year that the China has enlisted an elite squadron of cyber warrior to attack American computer systems and conduct espionage on behalf of the People’s Liberation Army. When the report was released in February, Mandiant said the PLA’s elusive Unit 61398 has successfully compromised the networks of more than 141 companies across 20 major industries, including Coca-Cola and a Canadian utility company. Those hacks reportedly subsided after Mandiant went public with their claims, but earlier this month the firm said those attacks have since been renewed.

“They dialed it back for a little while, though other groups that also wear uniforms didn’t even bother to do that,” CEO Kevin Mandia told the New York Times recently. “I think you have to view this as the new normal.”

On their part, China has adamantly denied all claims that they’ve waged attacks on US networks. Following Mandiant’s initial report, a spokesperson for China’s foreign ministry said the claims were “irresponsible and unprofessional.”

“Hacking attacks are transnational and anonymous,” Hong Lei said. “Determining their origins are extremely difficult. We don't know how the evidence in this so-called report can be tenable.”Read the full story here.
