An Iranian schoolboy has killed himself in the latest example of children playing 'hanging games' after watching public executions in the regime.

Mehdi Norousi, 12, witnessed the hanging of a man convicted of drugs charges on January 28.

He then told friends he wanted to find out if the condemned man could have escaped the noose if he had had a knife.

But he died in the experiment after hanging himself from his rooftop stairway at his home in the city of Qazvin.

At dawn on Tuesday January 28, a 44-year-old prisoner was hanged in public in Qazvin. state-run media have widely spread the photos of this crime to create an atmosphere of terror.

In November, a seven-year-old boy named Mohammed also accidentally hanged himself while 'experimenting' with a clothes line in the town of Fishvar, southern Iran.

A 12-year-old also died while playing a hanging game with his younger brother at their home in the province of Kermanshah, western Iran.

All the deaths are thought to be inspired by public executions. Last week alone, four prisoners were hanged in public as children were watching the brutal spectacles.

A prisoner in Iran is to be hanged for the second time after he 'becomes well again' after surviving the first execution. The 37-year-old man named as Alireza M was hanged in Bojnourd prison last Wednesday.

His family went to collect his body the next day but he found him still breathing.

One family member told state-run website Jamejamonline: "We went to the coroner's office collect his body to prepare for a memorial service. But we found him alive again, which made his two daughters very happy."

Jamejamonline reported that people expected the prisoner who had been hanged on drug charges to be pardoned after surviving the execution, but one judiciary said that the death verdict means taking someone's life according to the law and since his life not was not taken on Wednesday the prisoner has to be executed one more time.

Alireza M had survived but he is now is on death row again to be executed once he gets well.

Since the sham presidential election in June, at least 240 prisoners have executed, including 10 women.

Meanwhile, just in Ghezel Hessar prison, 3000 prisoners are on the death row. To facilitate group hangings, the clerical regime has put up stages in Ghezel Hessar prison for concurrent hanging of 24 and covertly hangs a number of prisoners every week.

Concurrent with arbitrary executions, medieval punishments such as hand amputations, blinding and cutting off the ear complements the cycle of atrocity and terror in mullahs’ regime. Six verdicts of hand amputation in Shiraz, four sentences of stoning, including that of two women in Tabriz, and a decree to gouge out the eye and cut off the ear of an imprisoned laborer in Tehran, is another example of the atrocity of henchmen ruling Iran.

NCRI - A young woman was hanged on Sunday, September 29 in the city of Mashhad in Iran. 

In the past few days, at least 5 women have been executed in different cities across the country.
Most of these women are accused of drug related charges.
From September 24 to 26, simultaneous with Hassan Rouhani's absurd shows in New York, the anti-human clerical regime’ henchmen executed 21 prisoners, including four women, in various cities of Iran.

The wave of public executions is continuing in Iran with at least 32 hangings in the past two weeks under the rule of the regime's new 'moderate' president Hassan Rouhani.

On September 19, two prisoners were hanged, one in public and one in private, in the city of Tonekabon. Another named only as Ahmad was hanged the same day in Qazvin.
Five more, including two young men aged 18 and 23, were hanged in public in Ghaemshahr, Ilam and Dehdasht, and another five were hanged in the cities of Karaj and Qazvin.

Another four were hanged on September 18, in Rajai Shahr Prison, Karaj. One of those was named as Fardin Mohammadi, 24, who was arrested five years ago and had been held in a youth ward.

Iran will no longer be carrying out public executions, country Gazvin province's prosecutor Jamal Ansari said, Fars news agency reported.

Ansari named three reasons - human rights issue, international policy and Iran's judiciary system's policy - for Iran to halt the public executions.

"The judiciary system of Iran will no longer permit public executions due to the mentioned three reasons," Ansari said.

He noted that previously Iran only carried out executions in public in specific circumstances, and it was all recorded on video and spread in the media outlets.
From now on, according to Ansari, the judiciary system has forbitten for public executions to be carried out.

Within the last month 20 people, charged of trafficking and selling drugs, were executed in Tehran.

According to foreign media reports, some 488 people were executed in Iran from October 2011 to October 2012. Some 33 percent of the executed were accused of smuggling drugs, while 13 percent - of rape.

The UN and Amnesty International have repeatedly demanded Iran to abolish the death penalty. The five Yemeni men were given the death penalty for murdering Saudi national Ahmad Haroubi, whom they allegedly beat up and strangled. The motive for the murder remains unclear.

The interior ministry said the five men - identified by the ministry as Khaled, Adel and Qasim Saraa, Saif Ali Al Sahari and Khaled Showie Al Sahari - also robbed shops after forming a gang.

It is unclear if the men were beheaded or shot as punishment for their crimes.

Following their execution, the bodies of the five men were hung on a horizontal bar between two cranes, with ropes tied to their waists. A witness who spoke to AFP said the bodies were hung near a university. Photograph of the hanging has since been posted on Twitter, showing the five bodies on the bar and the large crowd which gathered to watch the ceremony.

The incident took place in the south-western city of Jizan The total number of executions in Saudi Arabia, this year alone, has now reached 46 according to an AFP tally. TEHRAN: An Iranian man condemned to the gallows for murdering a policeman was pardoned by the victim’s family and his life saved only moments after he was hanged, the Mehr news agency reported on Thursday.
Relatives “cried out their pardon after the murderer had already been hanging for a few seconds” the agency said, publishing a photo of people grab the man and holding him until they could remove the noose from around his neck. The aborted execution took place in the northeastern city of Mashhad. Under Iranian law, the family of a victim is entitled to pardon a criminal and save him from execution. Iranian Family: Saudi Embassy drunk Employee who killed an Iranian driver in a car accident Should Stand Trial Based on Iranian Law.(Fars).A drunk employee of Saudi Arabia Embassy in Tehran killed an Iranian driver and wounded a passer-by in a fatal car accident in northeastern capital, Tehran, earlier this month.

The Saudi staffer rammed his vehicle into the Iranian car before veering off the road. The Iranian driver was killed on the spot.

"I'm very angry because no one from the Saudi Embassy in Tehran has even come to sympathize with us or express condolences to my children for the loss of their father. The Saudi Embassy staffer should be brought to justice so that foreign diplomats will not dare to be drunk or kill Iranian nationals without being punished in the future," Mahboubeh Habibi, wife of the victim, told press tv.

Although medical evidence showed that the embassy staffer was drunk, Saudi Ministry of Foreign Affairs has denied media reports that he had been drunk, saying, "It is untrue that he was intoxicated".However, Iranian police have found four bottles of alcoholic beverage in the Saudi employee's car.

"I urge the Saudi government to freely cooperate with the Iranian officials and accept the mistake of their diplomat. We are not thinking of the blood money. What matters to us is that we will not allow our rights to be ignored," Mohaddeseh Farahani, daughter of the victim said.

Meanwhile, brother of the victim added, "If the Saudi officials are true Muslims, they should accept the reality. I want the right of my brother to be respected. We want the Saudi diplomat to be punished under the Iranian law. This is our right and we will never give it up."

On March 19, Iran Foreign Ministry Spokesman Ramin Mehmanparast mentioned violating Iranian laws, exceeding the speed limit, and driver's intoxication as the causes of the deadly accident, saying Iran has strongly protested to the Saudi Embassy staffer's behavior and has notified the Saudi Arabian Embassy in Tehran of its complaint. A photo from Iran is making waves worldwide, arousing debates on capital punishment, which in the Islamist Republic and many other countries is meted out not only to murderers.
Alireza Mafiha, an Iranian man convicted of a violent street robbery in Tehran, was waiting for the gallows on Sunday when he was photographed in an exceptionally human moment: Laying his head on his executioner's shoulder and weeping. Minutes later he was publicly hanged in a square in central Tehran.
Mafiha, 23, is no saint: His execution together with 20-year-old Mohamad Ali Sorouri followed their posting a video on Youtube in December in which they are both seen attacking a man with a machete in Tehran.
Iran's Chief Justice Ayatollah Sadeq Larijani ruled the crime construes "waging war against God," a broad charge that can cover actions ranging from anti-state organizing to violent assaults, punishable by death according to Iranian law.
The two men were brought on Sunday to a Tehran square. Iranian police, their faces masked to hide their identity from the men's relatives, surrounded them and took them to the gallows.
While Sorouri remained impassive, Mafiha was seen laying his head on a masked man's shoulder and bursting in tears.

The executioner rested his hand on Mafiha's back, while a group of women begged the policemen to spare the two's lives. Their pleas were unanswered: The men were lifted on a crane and hanged.
The damning footage posted on Youtube shows Mafiha and Sorouri together with two accomplices riding motorcycles on a Tehran street, attacking a man and robbing him of his bag and coat.
Mafiha claimed in his trial that the four men committed the robbery due to the abject poverty they suffer, saying that both he and Sorouri are unemployed.
But the video made its way from Youtube to the Iranian TV channels, and public outrage brought the court to rule their execution.Read the full story here, more here.

U.N. Committee Condemns Human Rights Abuses in Iran.(Iranhr). A resolution on the human rights situation in Iran was passed by the U.N. Third Committee on Tuesday, November 27. The resolution, which was drafted by Canada and co-sponsored by other countries, received 83 votes in favour, 31 against, and 87 abstentions. According to Reuters, formal voting on the resolution will take place next month "at plenary sessions of the General Assembly."

Among other human rights violations in Iran, the resolution criticized the "continuing alarming high frequency of the carrying-out of the death penalty (in Iran) in the absence of internationally recognized safeguards, including an increase in the number of public executions." 

Reuters reports that the resolution on Iran "received more yes votes than a year ago, when a similar text was approved with 80 in favor, 44 against and 57 abstentions." Read the full story here.

Iran Human Rights, November 17: According to the reports from the Iranian state media two prisoners were hanged publicly the Iranian town of Darab (southern Iran) yesterday November 16.
According to the official website of the Iranian judiciary in Fars Province two prisoners identified as "A. M." convicted of carrying 85 kilograms of opium and 10 kilograms of concentrated heroin, and "S. S." convicted of carrying 2800 grams of concentrated heroin. The executions were carried out in publicly in the town of Darab, in the Fars Province.
Another prisoner was hanged in the prison of Eslamshahr (south of Tehran) convicted of murder. Iranian state broadcasting reported that a man identified as "Fereydon" convicted of murdering another man identified as "Rahman" was hanged in the prison of Eslamshahr on November 14.
According to the official and unofficial reports 81 prisoners have been executed in the last 10 days in Iran. The Judiciary in the Yazd Province (Central Iran) announced that amputation verdicts of two prisoners convicted of theft were carried out publicly in the city of Yazd on November 13. According to the report four fingers of one hand of the prisoners were amputated. The Judiciary also announced that two prisoners will be hanged in the near future.
The state run Iranian news agency ISNA reported that the flogging verdict of a man identified as "Mehdi B." was carried out publicly on Monday November 12. According to this report Mehdi was sentenced to 70 lashes in public, convicted of "disturbing the women and girls".
Iran Human Rights (IHR) strongly condemned the executions, amputations and floggings carried out by the Iranian authorities. Mahmood Amiry-Moghaddam, the spokesperson of IHR said: "We urge the international community to condemn the barbaric punishments and we demand urgent actions to stop these crimes committed by the Iranian authorities". No one is executed in Iran for his political convictions - Judiciary Chief.(TI).Judiciary Chief Ayatollah Sadeq Larijani said on Wednesday that no one is executed in Iran for his/her political views and only major drug traffickers, murderers, armed robbers, and rapists are hanged in Iran, Mehr reported. Larijani made the remarks in response to a report issued by Ahmed Shaheed, the UN special rapporteur on human rights in Iran. "In the Islamic Republic of Iran, we definitely do not have any political executions," Larijani said at a meeting of high-ranking Judiciary officials. He added that some laws about the death penalty are not unique to Iran and all Muslims believe in them. He went on to say that reports about human rights violations in Iran are written based on the claims and one-sided statements of "the enemies" of the Islamic Republic. "However," Larijani said, "the Islamic Republic does not pay attention to such biased reports."
But the point is, "why are the enemies of Iran and Islam so unreasonable?" And why are they protesting about the enforcement of Islamic laws in Iran, the Judiciary chief asked. Commenting on the war in Afghanistan and its effect on Iran, he said that since the United States began its military intervention in Afghanistan, there has been a manifold increase in opium cultivation in the country, and this has exposed neighboring Iran to "serious" social ills. UN experts call on Iran to halt executions, including 11 planned for Saturday.(TI).A group of independent United Nations human rights experts on Friday called on Iran to immediately halt all executions, particularly the 11 reported to be scheduled for Saturday, and establish a moratorium with the aim of abolishing the death penalty, UN News Centre reported. "We urge the Iranian authorities to stop the executions of Saeed Sedeghi and 10 other individuals scheduled for Saturday, 13 October," said the UN Special Rapporteurs on Iran, Ahmed Shaheed, on extrajudicial executions, Christof Heyns, and on torture, Juan E. Méndez. Mr. Sedeghi was sentenced to death on 2 June 2012 for drug-related offences. According to available information, Mr. Sedeghi did not receive a fair trial and was subjected to torture during his detention, according to a news release from the Office of the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR). "Any death sentence must comply with international obligations related to the stringent respect of fair trial and due process guarantees, as stipulated in the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights, to which the Islamic Republic of Iran is a State party," the experts stressed.
"In countries which have not abolished the death penalty, the sentence of death can be imposed only for the most serious crimes, which do not include drug crimes. Cases that do not meet these standards are tantamount to arbitrary executions," noted the experts, who are tasked by the Geneva-based UN Human Rights Council with examining and reporting back, in an unpaid capacity, on specific human rights themes.
"We have repeatedly urged Iran to halt executions," they added. "We regret, however, that instead of heeding our calls, the Iranian authorities have stepped up the use of the death penalty."

Over 300 people are known to have been executed since the beginning of 2012, the majority in respect of drug-related activities. A large number is reportedly on death row, and face risk of imminent execution. 

The 10th International Day against the Death Penalty was observed two days ago, and the experts said they were "appalled" that this event has been overshadowed by an increase in the number of executions in Iran. "Iran is no doubt aware, the international community as a whole is moving towards complying in law and in practice with the international standards in respect to the death penalty," they stated, urging the authorities to establish a moratorium with a view to abolishing the death penalty. The overall global trend on the use of the death penalty has seen the number of executions worldwide decline, according to OHCHR. An estimated 150 UN Member States have abolished the death penalty or introduced a moratorium, either in law or practice.Read the full story here.

Four people- 27 years old Siyavash, accused of commiting rape, murder of a woman and a theft, 25 years old Mahmoud, 26 years old Ali and 31 years old Karim, all accused of commiting a rape, will be executed. The case was opened in Iran's Pakdasht city's attonery in September 2007, when a woman named Mahboubeh was brought to hospital, struck by knife. Mahboubeh died after 4 days, but another girl informed the police about criminal acts of four guys. He did not give any further details. A justice ministry official said the executions were carried out on Monday morning. Amnesty International in June condemned the “alarming” increase in executions in Iraq, which had at that point put at least 70 people to death this year, more than all of 2011. Iraq has carried out several mass executions in 2012, including one in which 14 people were put to death on February 7, and another in which 17 were executed on January 31. U.N. Several reports from Iran indicate that the Iranian authorities are planning to execute multiple prisoners, among them some political prisoners and some convicted of espionage.
Most of the executions will most likely be carried out following the 16th Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) summit scheduled to take place in Tehran from August 26-31. High-ranking officials from 40 NAM member countries along with observer countries and international organizations like the United Nations are expected to attend.
IHR urges the international community to pay special attention to Iran in the coming weeks. Mahmood Amiry-Moghaddam, the spokesperson for IHR, said today, "There are several reports indicating that Iranian authorities have scheduled executions for the coming weeks. We are deeply concerned about these possible executions and urge the international community to react before it is too late." He added, "We specifically ask the UN and leaders of the countries attending the NAM summit to address the issue of the death penalty in Iran."
There were no reported executions in the Muslim month of Ramadan, which ended on August 20. It is expected that news of executions will emerge in the next month. According to the IHR annual death penalty reports, in the past years, there has been a noticeable increase in executions after Ramadan. In 2011, at least 72 people were executed in the first three weeks following Ramadan.
For the past few months, Iranian authorities have aired several times on state television what they call "confessions" of Iranians involved in espionage and cooperation with Israel. On August 6, state television aired purported confessions by 14 suspects (six women and eight men) in connection with the killing of five nuclear scientists. Some of the people whose "confessions" were aired on state television are: Behzad Abdoli, Firouzeh Yeganeh, Maryam Zargar, Ramtin Mahdavi Moshaie, Arash Kheradkish and Maziar Ebrahimi.
IHR believes that the confessions made by these prisoners were serious enough to put them at risk of execution. In May, another prisoner, identified as Majid Jamali Fashi, was hanged publicly in Tehran after his confessions were aired on state television.
There are other prisoners who are in imminent danger of execution and require urgent attention.
Gholamreza Khosravi, 50, was arrested in 2008 in Rafsanjan, Kerman (southeastern Iran). His initial charge was affiliated with his alleged support of Simay Azadi, a television station linked to the Mujahedin-e Khalgh (MEK or PMOI).
Gholamreza Khosravi was sentenced to death after a second trial in the Tehran Revolutionary Court. He was charged with Moharebeh (enmity against God) for his alleged ties to the MEK. The death sentence was confirmed by the Supreme Court on April 21. According to sources in Iran, the execution is scheduled to take place on September 10.
Abdolreza Ghanbari, 44, a teacher, was arrested in the aftermath of the December 2009 Ashura protests. He was sentenced to death based on the charge of Moharebeh for his alleged ties with the MEK. His request for pardon was rejected by the Supreme Court. He may be executed at any time.
Ahmad Daneshpour Moghaddam, 42, and Mohsen Daneshpour Moghaddam, 69, son and father, were also arrested in connection with the Ashura protests. They were charged with Moharebeh, for their alleged ties with the MEK, and sentenced to death. They may be executed at any time.
There are continued concerns about the imminent execution of Saeed Malekpour, 37, a web programmer whose main charges include Moharebeh and Insulting and desecrating Islam. His death sentence was confirmed by the Supreme Court in January 2012. He may be executed at any time.
There are also more than 20 Kurdish political prisoners on death row in Iran that may be in danger of imminent execution.
