Efforts to stem Islamic and far-right extremism in the UK have led to children under the age of 10 being referred to government de-radicalization programs on an almost daily basis, new figures show.

A total of 4,611 people, around half of them children and teens, have been flagged up for possible intervention in the past year to stop them falling under the influence of extremist ideologies.

The figures have jumped 75 percent since last year, when local authorities - including schools and councils - were given a statutory duty to stop people being drawn into terrorism, known as the Prevent strategy.

Islamic extremism is involved in 70 percent of those referred, while 15 percent of cases are related to far-right ideas, figures released under the Freedom of Information Act show.

A spokesperson for the Home Office said: “We have a duty to challenge, at every turn, the twisted narrative that has exploited some of our vulnerable young people.' Read the full story here.

A graduation ceremony at a Gaza kindergarten featured a theatrical show of terrorist skills presented by the graduating children of the 2016 Al-Quds class of the Islamic Al-Hoda kindergarten. The children, clad in Islamic Jihad fatigues, demonstrated the planting of anti-tank mines, the killing and kidnapping of enemy soldiers, the launching of mortars, and more. Videos documenting the event were posted on the kindergarten’s YouTube account and Facebook page on May 30. Sheikh Khadr Habib, an Islamic Jihad leader in Gaza, delivered a speech during the ceremony, and said that the children send a “message of love” to the world and that their message to the Israelis is: We are not terrorists, don’t force us to kill you. The Al-Hoda kindergarten is located in the Zaytun Quarter in Gaza, and is run by Maha Ashour.

The Turkish newspaper, BirGün, is reporting that as many as thirty Syrian refugee children have been raped in the Nizip refugee camp, not far from Gaziantep, Turkey.

The perpetrator of the violence against 30 children is believed to have been a cleaner – referred to by the newspaper with the initials EE - who has been arrested.

Beyond the horror of the news, there are suspicions that it was common knowledge that abuse was taking place, but the fact has only emerged into the public sphere as part of the political power struggle against the soon-to-be former Prime Minister Davudoglu.

In fact AFAD, which is the Turkish Prime Minister’s Office for Emergency Management, is responsible for security in the camps. Moreover, Nizip was considered by the Turkish authorities a model refugee camp, and was personally visited by German Chancellor Angela Merkel during her recent trip to Turkey.

Investigations were sparked by military guards at the outside the camp who through binoculars noticed a suspicious movement around the baths, so much so that an official, interviewed by BirGün, held AFAD directly responsible for the incident.

According to a report published by the Turkish left-wing daily BirGün on Thursday, a cleaner “sexually assaulted” a total of 30 Syrian boys, the oldest of whom were only 12 years old, in the bathrooms of the state-run Nizip refugee camp from September 2015 through the beginning of the current year.

The rapist, identified only as E.E., has confessed that he lured children into blind spots, which were not detected by surveillance cameras, to have sex with them in return for 1.5 to 5 Turkish liras (USD 0.51-1.69). The 29-year-old suspect, currently held in pre-trial detention, reportedly faces a total of 289 years of imprisonment.

The children’s families became aware of the sexual abuses after a boy, identified as H.I., talked to his father about the man and his persistent misconduct.

The families of eight children have so far come forward with a legal complaint. The rest of the families have not taken any measures for fear of deportation.

The sexual abuses were never detected by Turkey’s Disaster and Emergency Management Authority (AFAD), which runs the camp. The matter was brought to light after military officers inside the camp started reviewing surveillance cameras, and noticed that the perpetrator was taking children to blind spots.

An unnamed high-ranking military officer from the camp later blamed the AFAD for the rapes. “The AFAD is in charge of the camp and responsible for this disaster,” he said.

German Chancellor Angela Merkel had praised the Turkish refugee camp during her visit on April 23. She was presented with flowers by a group of Syrian girls before touring the camp.

Security forces at the camp, which houses 14,000 Syrians, prevented the press from speaking to any refugees other than those hand-picked to greet the German leader.

The shocking news comes amid reports of Turkish border control officers abusing and shooting Syrian refugees. Human Rights Watch says Turkish border guards shoot and beat Syrian refugees trying to cross into Turkey, calling on the country to investigate abuses.

Turkish newsagency Dogan reports that the camp can accommodate up to 14 thousand refugees, but currently houses only 10,800 Syrians and is now at the center of other scandals which are beginning to leak out.

Recently published reports reveal that the Turkish military fired continuously against Syrian asylum seekers, so that Amnesty International has declared Turkey a place "unsafe" for asylum seekers.

The main opposition force in the country, Republican People's Party (CHP), has requested the opening of a parliamentary inquiry and on Friday sent, a delegation to Nizip, as Veli Agbaba, the Assistant Secretary of the CHP reported on his Twitter account. (PB)

Over one quarter of women in the world have been child brides. This depressing statistic was announced by Unicef, who surveyed women aged between 20 and 24 in 122 countries, covering 79 percent of the global population of women. The results reveal the drastic scale of child marriage around the globe.

Such practices were found to be most prevalent in South Asia, where 44 percent of women surveyed had been a child bride - 17 percent were under the age of 15 at the time.

At the current rate, girlsnotbrides.org estimates that there will be an additional 1.2 billion girls married globally by 2050.

Turkey has one of the highest rates of child marriage in Europe with an estimated 14% of girls married before the age of 18.

However, statistical data available may not be representative of the scale of the issue since most child marriages are unregistered and take place as unofficial religious marriages.

The crisis in Syria and subsequent influx of refugees into Turkey and other neighboring countries has caused a dramatic rise in the number of child marriages.

Child marriage increases dramatically in emergencies due to increased poverty levels and a need to reduce household expenditure as well as parents wanting to protect their daughter’s honour and avoid sexual harassment and violence in an increasingly fragile environment.




A UNHCR survey conducted in 2014 revealed that the average age of marriage for Syrian refugee girls in Turkey was between 13 and 20 years with many respondents saying if they had the money, they would not have resorted to marrying off their daughters at such a young age. Read the full story here.

Medical volunteers say they have treated seven boys aged between 14 and 16 in the past six months.

Teenage boys are being raped in the Calais Jungle, aid workers have claimed, amid concerns over the lack of child protection measures in place in the refugee camp – and the risks of abuse facing thousands of displaced children across the continent.

Medical volunteers helping those camped outside the French town told The Independent they have treated seven boys aged between 14 and 16 in the past six months. who claimed to have been raped. They all had injuries consistent with these claims.

In four cases, the boys required surgery. Only one attended hospital, however, with the others refusing treatment for fear of repercussions or through shame at having been abused. Read the full story here.

A state-funded study into Islamic kindergartens in Vienna suggests that Islamist groups such as the Muslim Brotherhood and its Turkish counterpart Milli Gorus have links to some of the capital's preschools.

Austria’s Integration Minister Sebastian Kurz (ÖVP) wants to introduce tighter controls on Islamic kindergartens to prevent radicalization and said he believed the study was necessary because there is a danger of “parallel societies emerging”.

The author of the study, Ednan Aslan, is a professor at the Institute of Islamic Studies at Vienna University. He found that the religious education preached by several of the capital's 150 Muslim establishments led to "theologically-motivated isolation" and robbed children of their autonomy through "intimidation".

"Intellectual Salafists and political Islamists are the dominant groups in the Islamic kindergarten scene in Vienna," the study concluded.

“In many of their publications the Muslim Brotherhood and Milli Gorus reject the Western way of life as an inferior worldview,” Aslan writes in the 178 page study.

He told the Standard newspaper that it was not acceptable that a representative of the Muslim Brotherhood, who runs a kindergarten in Vienna, should openly support the war in Syria or appear in a video in which he states that "we want to evangelize in Europe".

Many of the private Islamic preschools are subsidized by the City of Vienna - to the tune of €30 million - according to a report in the Krone newspaper.

Aslan said that the majority of the Islamic kindergartens were unwilling to participate in his study and that some took down their websites to make some data inaccessible. Only 71 out of 150 Islamic kindergartens agreed to be part of the study.


The Krone quotes one integration expert who contributed to Aslan’s report as saying that it is as easy to open an Islamic kindergarten in Vienna as it is “to open a kebab shop”.

The FPÖ deputy mayor of Vienna, Johann Gudenus, has said that he wants to hold a special parliamentary session on the subject of Islamic kindergartens and a motion of no confidence against the head of the education board, Sonja Wehsely (SPÖ).

Gudenus added all kindergartens in the capital should be run by the City of Vienna, and not by private individuals or groups. Hmmmm......ALL Islamist roads lead to Turkey and the EU wants to give them free entrance in to Europe. Read the full story here.

The majority of Palestinians interviewed in the street by Fatah-run Awdah TV said they were against children participating in stabbing and other terror attacks. Most opposed child-terror in principle, while a few opposed it because they view it as ineffective.

Palestinian Media Watch has reported that Palestinian schools also incite children to kill. Children in "many schools from the Ramallah and El-Bireh district" were presented with a terrorist stabber as a role model when they participated in a football tournament named after 13-year-old terrorist Ahmad Manasrah, who stabbed a 13-year-old Israeli and nearly killed him. The current terror campaign has witnessed 13, 14 and 15-year-old terrorists stabbing and attempting to stab people to death. Many of them have been killed while carrying out their attacks. 80% of children in Saudi Arabia have been the subject of violence at least once or various kinds of abuse.

This has been revealed by a study prepared and published recently by the National Family Safety Program, which has examined cases involving at least 18 thousand children and young people.

The study confirms that the phenomenon of large-scale child abuse is taking place in the country where strict Wahhabi morals and Sharia (Islamic law) prevails, punishing offenses (including adultery and apostasy) with the death penalty.

The study, published by the Saudi daily Arab News, showed that 13% of young people have suffered sexual violence, 53% neglect by the family, and 80% subject to physical or psychological abuse. 

The study also shows that there is little knowledge on the subject of domestic violence, with only 2% of the 5,700 social workers having received special training to work with abusers and victims.

Maha Al-Munief, executive chairman of the program, points out that abuse in childhood lead to various types of physical and psychological problems, which over time become chronic.

Speaking at a debate organized by the Fund for the development of women in Dammam and entitled "Domestic Violence — From Silence to Legislation” said that 3% of children raised in healthy families start  to consume drugs. This figure rose to 17% for children affected by violence. 

Depression affects 55 of "normal children", compared with 21% among those victims of violence.

Al-Munief also says that only 5% of victims of child abuse are able to obtain protection. At the same time, there is no program to respond to the causes of the violence and steps to be taken to counter them.

In the country there are 22 centers that deal with abuse of young people and others are in the planning phase, with specialized staff.  To date nine sessions are available for police officers, judges, lawyers and other professionals, but the hope is that others will be implemented in the near future.


The Saudi scholar concluded by explaining that the programs of assistance and aid have so far involved 250 thousand children in various parts of the country. 60% of requests for help come from the children themselves, who denounce (between 5 and 10%), physical violence and 1% rape.

Turkish forces have detained 23 suspected ISIS extremists along with 21 children who were trying to illegally cross over from Syria, the army said Sunday.

The suspects, whose nationalities were not disclosed, were captured Saturday as they tried enter the Elbeyli district of Turkey's southern Kilis province.

"Twenty-three people suspected of being Daesh (ISIS) terror group members, together with 21 children, were caught," said the army in a statement, without giving any other details.

Turkey has over the last year been told by its Western allies to urgently step up efforts to stop the flow of extremists across its borders to and from Syria.

The army reported Saturday that it had Friday also captured six ISIS suspects, along with eight children, who were trying to cross illegally from Syria to Turkey in the same area. Hmmm........No word if those children are actually 'Caliphate cubs'? These 'Caliphate cubs' are my biggest fear as we are not prepared for such a scenario, better to prevent than to cure.

The Directorate of Religious Affairs (Diyanet) has vehemently defended itself after public uproar greeted its response to a question on whether “a father’s lust for his daughter would affect his marriage,” saying its answer was deliberately “distorted.”

In an official statement to the press, the Diyanet said its response was distorted through “tricks, wiliness and wordplay” aiming to discredit the institution, adding that it would take legal action against news reports of the response.

The reply had briefly appeared on the “fatwa” section of the Diyanet website, where readers’ questions are answered.

One anonymous user asked whether a father having sexual desire for his daughter would result in the cancellation of his marriage from a religious perspective.

The Diyanet posted an answer stating that there is a difference of opinion on the matter among Islam’s different schools of thought.

“For some, a father kissing his daughter with lust or caressing her with desire has no effect on the man’s marriage,” the answer said, referencing various religious sources.

The Diyanet cited the Hanafi school of Islamic jurisprudence as an exception, as it sees the daughter’s mother as “haram” (Arabic for “forbidden”) to such a man.

“Moreover, the girl would be over nine years of age,” it also said.

The scandalous “fatwa” created a social media storm, as scores of users appealed to the Telecommunications Presidency’s Internet Hotline accusing Turkey’s top religious body of “encouraging child abuse.”

The Diyanet subsequently removed the answer from its website and posted a warning, saying the page in question was “under repair.” Hmmmm.....EU Values? Please keep Islamist Turkey out of Europe. More on this story here.

İzmir police on Tuesday raided an underground manufacturer in the Konak district and seized a total of 1,263 fake life jackets that were produced with low-quality materials. Two young Syrian underage girls were found among the four employees working .

Employing Syrians has become commonplace in Turkey in the recent past as the growing population of refugees in the country provide a low-cost labor force for businesses.

Even though the government previously declared an intention to issue work permits for Syrians, they are now mostly employed illegally and paid less than Turkish citizens for identical positions.

The life jackets seized in the raid included counterfeits of renowned brands padded with insulating materials, suitcase fabric and low-quality sponges used to make the life jackets look thick and safe.

The raid came on the same day that Turkish authorities found the bodies of 34 migrants, at least three of whom were children, washed up on the coast of İzmir and Balıkesir provinces after they had apparently drowned while trying to cross to the Greek island of Lesbos.

The International Organization for Migration (IOM) puts the number of migrants who have died while trying to cross the Mediterranean Sea to Europe in 2015 at 3,771. Experts argue that fake life jackets selling at low prices are the primary reason for the high number of deaths at sea. Hmmmm......When will the EU take measures against these Turkish 'slavery' practices,  refugee exploitation and unfair economic practices? Yes it's easier to label Jewish products but one law for All!

In a renewed attempt to raise awareness about the prevalence of child marriages in Lebanon, nongovernmental organization Kafa (meaning “enough” in Arabic) staged a photoshoot with a middle-aged man and a 12-year-old girl in a wedding dress.

While some passersby did not react and others were visibly disturbed but kept their opinions to themselves, a large number of those who appeared in the video were outraged at the setup.

One woman demanded to know where the young girl’s parents were, exclaiming, “She’s 12! I was jogging but my feet froze when I saw her.”

Another bystander reminded the woman that “the law allows it.”

This is the Lion Cubs Religious Academy, one of several schools run by al Qaeda's Syrian affiliate, the al Nusra Front. VICE News filmmaker Medyan Dairieh gained exclusive access to the group earlier this year, spending time with the militia's current leadership and the younger generation being groomed to replace them.

His footage shows children singing songs with lyrics like: "Oh mother, don't be sad, I've chosen the land of jihad. Wipe your tears, I only went to fight the Jews," and "Our leader [Osama] bin Laden who scares America with the power of his faith and his PK gun."

The human rights situation in Iran has not improved since Hassan Rouhani became President two years ago, Kimmo Sasi, a former Member of Parliament from Finland and Member of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe, has said. There have been 2000 executions since Rouhani took office, he added.

Mr. Sasi addressed a Geneva conference on September 18 on the sidelines of the 30th session of the United Nations Human Rights Council.

Iranians plan to rally outside the United Nations in New York on September 28 to denounce the visit by the mullahs' President Hassan Rouhani to the UN General Assembly.

The rally, which is being organized by the Organization of Iranian-American Communities (OIAC), will press the international community to hold the regime in Iran accountable for its abhorrent human rights record.

The mullahs' regime in Iran continues to execute more of its citizens per capita than any other U.N. member state.

Excerpt from the remarks by Mr. Kimmo Sasi, former Member of Parliament from Finland and Member of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe:

If we try to measure somehow what has happened, the fact is that there have been 2000 executions since he took office. And in fact the executions have been very brutal, there have been stonings and amputation of limbs of the human body of people. The latest statistics of Amnesty International shows there has been 699 executions from the beginning of this year until July 15. Why is all this done? It is to create fear so that people do not want to have any resistance in the country because they have to fear for their lives.

We have to do something and what should be done? The Council of Europe has very good and high human rights standards. And the Council of Europe’s legal rights committee has studied the situation in neighboring areas of the Council of Europe countries. And indeed if Iran would have the same standards as Council of Europe has for human rights, I think it would be the first step to create peace in the whole Middle East.

Mr. [Alejo] Vidal Quadras already mentioned the European Union, and he was in the right line at the moment. As the annual report of the European Union shows there is no human rights dialogue today between the European Union and Iran. In fact, it would be very important that in all relations, to have that human rights dialogue, and to put conditions on any improvement to any relations between Iran and the European Union and the European countries as a condition for improvement of the relations. In fact, the European Parliament has given a declaration in that direction in April 2014, saying that human rights should be an essential part of the relations and be conditioned.

But I plead with the national parliaments as well, that national parliaments would study Iran and put pressure on their own countries that they indeed require when they have relations with Iran so human rights will be part of the conditions in those negotiations. Also in the European Union, the Commission plays in important role and when the Foreign Minister [Federica] Mogherini was in Tehran for a visit, during her visit, 11 people were executed at the same time. That is not the right reflection of the Iranian government when the European Foreign Minister visits their country. There must be conditions for the relations.
