After a long period of suspension of contact with analogous groups and networks at the global level, the Scout Movement in Palestine, re-connects with its long history taking part gatherings and discussions promoted by scouts associations at the regional and international levels.

Two delegations of Palestinian Scout Associations in recent weeks took part in a Scouts Camp in Poland – in the context of new relations of cooperation and twinning in agreement with Polish Scouting – and in a gathering of Arab Scouts in Morocco which started on 13 July.

More initiatives, held in Ramallah and other Palestinian towns, marked the official re-entering of Palestinian scouting in the World Organization of the Scout Movement (WOSM) the International organism from which the Palestinian scouts distanced themselves in 1948, at the time of the Nakba. The re-integration of Palestinian scout movement within the WOSM was sanctioned by a unanimous vote at the end of February by 162 national movements, members of WOSM .

The return of Palestinian scouting as a member of the international movement was welcomed also by the Palestine’s political representatives, starting with President Mahmud Abbas.

The intention is to revive Palestinian Scout Region comprising four units (West Bank, Jerusalem, Gaza, Lebanon). Today the Palestinian association has already 120 groups in West Bank, over 30 in Gaza and another 30 in Lebanon.


Considered one of the world’s oldest scout movements, Palestinian scouting started in1912with the formation of the first scout group at the Anglican Church of Saint George, which belongs to the Anglican diocese of Jerusalem. During its long history Palestinian Scouting suffered persecution in the period of British rule in the second half of the 1930s. Hmmm....Scout Law. A Scout is trustworthy, loyal, helpful, friendly, courteous, kind, obedient, cheerful, thrifty, brave, clean, and reverent....... they seen dying to start, good thing they all carry a knife..

These words were part of a letter of condolence sent by Palestinian President Mahmud Abbas to Pope Francis, the successor of Saint Peter following the heinous murder of the elderly priest whose throat was cut by two terrorists as he celebrated mass in the church of Saint Etienne du Rouvray, near Rouen.

“We will stand always shoulder to shoulder” we read in the presidential missive sent to Fides, “to spread love, mercy and justice, overcome hatred and extremism and promote justice and peace for the whole of humanity”.






The Assembly of Catholic Bishops of the Holy Land yesterday sent a message of condolence to the Church in France and to all the French people. “From the Holy Land which continues to suffer from violence and instability” says the message, made public by the official media of the Latin Patriarch of Jerusalem, “we raise our voices, urging an end to the use of violence in the name of religion and instead, to use religion as the path to promote mutual respect and understanding among all nations.”

The Catholic Bishops of the Holy Land continued “we believers, need to pray to the Almighty to keep all people united and together cooperate for an end to all kinds of terrorism and that world leaders be inspired to act wisely and decisively to uproot terrorism and its causes in all of the regions now suffering from this plague”.

Anti-Semitic incidents on American college campuses nearly doubled in 2015, the Anti-Defamation League (ADL) reported in an audit released on Wednesday, according to JTA.

In addition, the number of anti-Semitic assaults across the country increased by more than 60 percent last year, the organization's audit found.

A total of 90 incidents were reported on 60 college campuses last year, compared with 47 incidents on 43 campuses in 2014. Campus anti-Semitic incidents accounted for 10 percent of the total.

In one incident in January, swastikas were spray-painted on the exterior wall of a Jewish fraternity at the University of California, Davis, on the 70th anniversary of the liberation of Auschwitz from the Nazis.

The ADL audit recorded a total of 941 anti-Semitic incidents in the United States in 2015, an increase of three percent from 2014.

56 of the incidents were assaults, the most violent category recorded in the audit, up from the 36 reported the year before.

These assaults included attacks on visibly Jewish men as they returned home from synagogue in New York and Florida, and a kippah-wearing high school student in Denver who was struck with a rock by an assailant who also called him "Jewboy" and "kike."

The ADL audit is the latest confirmation of the rising numbers of anti-Semitic incidents around the world and specifically in the United States, which has not been immune from the phenomenon.

“We are disturbed that violent anti-Semitic incidents are rising,” Jonathan Greenblatt, ADL's CEO, said in a statement about the audit quoted by JTA. “And we know that for every incident reported, there’s likely another that goes unreported. So even as the total incidents have remained statistically steady from year to year, the trend toward anti-Semitic violence is very concerning.” Read the full story here.

Israel’s defense establishment’s plan to build a concrete wall tens of meters underground as well as above ground along the Gaza border was revealed by Yediot Achronot this morning, Behind the News reports.

It has previously been estimated that such a project would cost tens of billions of shekels. However, under the new plan the construction costs are estimated to reach NIS 2.2 billion.

Behind the News reports that the wall will stretch along the 60 miles of the southern border around the Gaza Strip.

A senior Defense Ministry official on Thursday announced at a press briefing that the next confrontation with Hamas would be the last one. The question of how this announcement is consistent with a plan to build a wall, which is essentially a defensive program, is open to interpretation.

Dieudonné M’bala M’bala, the infamous French comedian who joked about gas chambers and has publicly denied the Holocaust, was denied entry to Canada after landing in Montreal on Tuesday, May 10, 2016.

Dieudonné was scheduled to perform 10 shows at Espace Mushagalusa in Montreal from May 11 to May 18. Radio-Canada reported that passengers on the same flight said that Dieudonné was met by two Canada Border Services agents when the plane landed in Montreal.

After several hours in the customs area, he posted the following message on his Facebook page, hinting that he would have to return to France “But I will return. … I will be in Montreal tomorrow ‘in peace,’ ” he wrote.

Dieudonné’s arrival in Canada came a few hours after a new conviction in France for yet another violation of that country’s hate speech laws. He was previously found guilty of hate speech and handed a fine and a two month suspended jail sentence. According to Canadian immigration law, Canada need not admit anyone with a criminal conviction to the country up to five years.

Dieudonné’s anti-Semitism is well documented and includes inventing the “quenelle”, a reverse Nazi salute, which French Prime Minister Manuel Valls called “a gesture of anti-Semitic hate”. Valls also described Dieudonne as a “professional anti-Semite.”

Avi Benlolo, President and CEO of Canadian Friends of Simon Wiesenthal Centre issued a statement on Tuesday saying: “We are pleased that Dieudonné was sent back home. We hope he is never allowed to return. At the same time, we are saddened that he was invited to Montreal in the first place and despite his racism, he filled ten shows.

Former Mayor of London Ken Livingstone said, in an interview with Al-Ghad Al-Arabi TV, that when Hitler came to power in 1932, he did not want to kill the Jews. He just wanted to "deport all the Zionists to Israel," said Livingstone, who further claimed that Britain and the U.S. should have absorbed the Jewish refugees following WWII, rather than enabling the establishment of the state of Israel, which was "fundamentally wrong." Livingstone added that he never buys Israeli products and that the failure to resolve the Palestinian problem leads Muslims to join ISIS. The interview was conducted on May 4, 2016.

The creation of the state of Israel was fundamentally wrong, because there had been a Palestinian community there for 2,000 years.

The creation of the state of Israel was a great catastrophe. We should have absorbed the post-WWII Jewish refugees in Britain and America. They could all have been resettled, whereas 70 years later, the situation is still very tense, and there is potential for many more wars, potential for nuclear war.


Interviewer: Do you support the global movement for boycotting Israel?


Ken Livingstone: I never buy anything [that comes from Israel]. I could make mistakes sometimes. I like dates, but I don't buy dates that come from Israel.

Interviewer: Europe decided that the solution, in order to get rid of the Jews, was to establish their own national state in Palestine. Is this not unjust?


Ken Livingstone: This is the interesting thing. There was a lot of antisemitism in Europe. The Christians were very hostile toward the Jews. When Hitler won the elections in 1932 and came to power, his policy was not directed toward killing the Jews. He wanted to deport all the Zionists to Israel [sic]. If you look at the Arab world at the time, there were large Jewish communities that never suffered threats or attacks. They lived in peace alongside their Arab neighbors. But all of this was destroyed with the establishment of the state of Israel, and all the Israeli [sic] communities in the Arab world were deported to Israel. This is unparalleled. If you examine the teachings of the Prophet Muhammad - he recognized Moses as a divine messenger. He also recognized that the Jews could live alongside the Arabs in the Middle East. All of that was destroyed, and I think it was catastrophic.

I have always believed that the failure to resolve the [Palestinian] problem fuels the terrorist attacks. What makes a 15- or 16-year-old boy go and fight with ISIS, or carry out the barbaric attacks that we saw in Paris or Brussels? They don't do it because they enjoy killing, but because they believe that they are the victims of injustice. The West must deal with the injustice, or will continue to fuel terrorism.

In a lecture posted on the Internet on March 21, Egyptian-German scholar Hamed Abdel-Samad said that the Prophet Muhammad had lowered the Jews to a "subhuman level, viewing them as animals," and he compared the treatment of the Jews in the years following Muhammad's death to that of the Nazis. "This hatred is poisoning us" and "preventing us from dealing with our problems in a serious way," said Abdel-Samad, adding that "instead of poisoning one generation after another with this hatred, we should let them learn something from humanity," in order to enable them to "overcome the barrier of hatred and of fear of the other."

According to law enforcement sources, the FBI set up a sting to thwart what they described as a terror attack at the Aventura Turnberry Jewish Center, Friday evening. Sources said agents posing as terrorists were able to stop the suspect, who, they said, may have converted to Islam.

Sources told 7News they are concerned about this case because the suspect wanted to take some type of explosive device and chuck it over the wall. Friday was the next-to-last day of Passover, and the center was crowded with people observing the holiday.

Concerned residents said they were disturbed by the arrest. "I think about, before we had a baby, that we used to go there for services, and God forbid, it could have been us," said Stephanie Levine. "Thank God they stopped him, but had they not, it would have been such a horrible thing to happen to this neighborhood."

Sources said the center was never in danger because the suspect was taken into custody before any harm was done.

"Of course it surprised me," said area resident Richard Levinson. "Everybody says, 'I live in a small town. It doesn't happen here,' but the sad part is, it happens everywhere." FBI officials declined to comment on the investigation, but 7News has learned the suspect will appear in federal court early this week. More here.

Western governments continue mass aid for PA after it promised to stop paying jailed terrorists' salaries, but new report exposes the lie.

A shocking report on Wednesday reveals that the Palestinian Authority (PA) has fooled Western governments, raking in over a billion dollars in aid from them annually despite breaching their demands that it stop paying salaries to terrorist prisoners. The report by Palestinian Media Watch (PMW), which can be read in full here, exposes how the PA has coped since August 2014, when - in the face of demands by the US and European donor countries that it stop paying salaries to jailed terrorists - it announced it would stop the terror funding.

In its new report on Wednesday, PMW cited numerous official PA sources as well as statements by officials in the organization, which clearly show the PA is tricking the West.

The sources cited all testify that the PA Ministry of Finance continues to be the body making decisions for funding, and continues to be the source paying salaries to the jailed terrorists.

In 2015, following the PA's promise that it was no longer paying terror salaries and after it closed its Ministry of Prisoners' Affairs, it suddenly made a transfer more than double the amount it had moved over to the PLO in previous years, jumping from 294 million shekels (around $78 million) in 2014 to 775 million shekels (over $206 million) in 2015.

The extra 481 million shekels ($128 million) in the 2015 transfer was a sum nearly identical to the 442 million shekel (over $117 million) budget previously allocated to the Ministry of Prisoners' Affairs before it was closed.

That extra funding therefore exactly matched the amount of money the PLO would need to pay terrorist prisoners - indicating the source of the salaries is still the PA funds propped up by Western aid.

In one case when the PA was short on funds, it made an announcement that it had cut the salaries of terrorist prisoners, as well as civil servants, by 60%.

Summarizing its report, PMW concluded by noting that "since it continues to fund salaries to terrorists, thereby clearly violating its promise to donors, the PA should be ineligible to receive Western donor money."
