Turkey's 'Islamist Dictator' Erdogan says he is working to halt ‘judaization’ of Jerusalem.
Turkey's 'Islamist Dictator' Erdogan says he is working to halt ‘judaization’ of Jerusalem. (ToI).
Meeting Palestinian PM hours after blistering attack on Israel, Turkish leader says he is paying ‘huge’ attention to holy city.
Hours after launching a scathing attack on Israel, calling on Muslims to flood the Temple Mount in protest at the “occupation” of Jerusalem, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan discussed ways to halt the so-called “judaization” of Jerusalem with Palestinian Authority Prime Minister Rami Hamdallah.
Meeting with Hamdallah in Istanbul Monday night, Erdogan “confirmed the necessity of unifying efforts to protect Jerusalem against attempts of judaization,” according to an official statement carried by the Palestinian Ma’an news agency.
On Monday evening, Erdogan drew swift Israeli rebuke for a speech in which he called Israel “racist and discriminatory,” and said Muslims should visit Jerusalem’s flashpoint Temple Mount more often to support Palestinians.
“Each day that Jerusalem is under occupation is an insult to us,” he said, at the opening ceremony of the International Forum on al-Quds Waqf in Istanbul, Turkey’s Hurriyet news reported.
During the meeting between Erdogan and Hamdallah, the two discussed “ways to support Jerusalem,” and the Palestinian leader updated Erdogan on the latest “Israeli violations” and an ongoing hunger strike by Palestinian prisoners, according to a statement by Hamdallah’s office.
Erdogan said Muslim Turkey had a “historical responsibility” and was paying “huge attention to Jerusalem and to the struggle of Palestinians for justice,” ramping up efforts to make it a city of “security, independence and peace again,” according to the Ma’an report.
Erdogan’s wading into the sensitive subject came a week before he is due to meet with US President Donald Trump, ahead of Trump’s visit to the region in a bid to jumpstart peace efforts.
Erdogan, whose talks with Trump are expected to center around tensions surrounding Syrian fighting, said the Israeli-Palestinian conflict should take precedence.
“It is impossible to find a solution and peace in the region without finding a fair solution for the Palestinian cause first,” Erdogan said in the meeting with Hamdallah.
The Turkish president strongly criticized Israel, saying that “no country should be allowed to act above the law.” He said that any efforts at brokering a peace deal are doomed to fail “unless Israel is held accountable for its crimes.”
“Israel keeps getting away from punishment, which leads it to escalated aggression against Palestinians,” he said. Hmmm.....Worst human rights violator of Europe is going to lecture Israel? The only reason he made a 'deal' with Israel is financial gain, he cherish an immense Antisemitic hatred inside of him, The Israeli leadership was mesjogge to trust this dictator. I Criticized Terror group Hamas and My Life in 'Islamist' Turkey Became a Nightmare.
I Criticized Terror group Hamas and My Life in 'Islamist' Turkey Became a Nightmare. (MEForum).by Burak Bekdil
My greatest sin was to argue: "The fact that there are no Israeli casualties does not mean Hamas does not want to kill; it just means Hamas, for the moment, cannot kill."
It was a beautiful, sunny day in December 2006 when I met Shimon Peres at his Tel Aviv office. At one point in our conversation, he began to talk about how things were beginning to go wrong in Turkey. He said: "Do not forget ... when holiness begins, reason ends." I knew he was right.
In 2006, the then Prime Minister, Recep Tayyip Erdogan, was widely viewed as a Muslim democrat, a pro-EU reformist, a pro-business liberal; or, at worst, a postmodern Islamist — not just an Islamist.
In reality, I argued in my Hurriyet column, he was just another Islamist zig-zagging between his ideological and pragmatic selves. He was successfully deceiving much of the Western world.
Less than a decade later, having consolidated his power using a blend of nationalist, Sunni-Islamist rhetoric, populist sound bites and nods to Ottoman grandeur, he has been labelled "arguably the most virulent anti-Israel leader in the world." Read my story here.

Jewish politicians dispute NYPD finding cemetery damage 'NEGLECT' not vandalism.
Jewish politicians dispute NYPD finding cemetery damage 'NEGLECT' not vandalism. (ToI).
Local officials cast doubt on police assessment that neglect was to blame for 42 toppled headstones at Brooklyn graveyard.
Jewish leaders in New York are disputing the New York Police Department’s finding that 42 headstones in a Brooklyn cemetery toppled due to neglect and not vandalism.
police determined after an investigation on
Sunday that the headstones had fallen off of their bases due to neglect
and bad weather conditions.
New York State Assemblyman Dov Hikind told the
New York Post late on Sunday that the people who reported the damage to
him had never noticed it before despite walking by the cemetery every
week to go to synagogue services.
“The people who first reported this to us were
individuals who walk by … on the way to synagogue on Shabbos, and they
were the ones who saw something that looked wrong to them,” Hikind told
the newspaper. “If they had seen the [toppled stones] before,” they
would have reported it, he said.
He added: “We’re not talking about stones that are down, that they want
to repair. We’re talking about tombstones where if you look at it, you
say, ‘Someone vandalized it.’”Read the full story here.

Hussein Obama 'admin' quietly sent Palestinians $221 million in its last hours in power
Hussein Obama 'admin' quietly sent Palestinians $221 million in its last hours in power. (Napo).
Officials say the Obama administration in its waning hours defied Republican opposition and quietly released US$221 million to the Palestinian Authority that GOP members of Congress had been blocking.
A State Department official and several congressional aides said the outgoing administration formally notified Congress it would spend the money Friday morning. The official said former Secretary of State John Kerry had informed some lawmakers of the move shortly before he left the State Department for the last time Thursday.
The aides said written notification dated Jan. 20 was sent to Congress just hours before Donald Trump took the oath of office.
In addition to the $221 million for the Palestinians, the Obama administration also told Congress on Friday it was going ahead with the release of another $6 million in foreign affairs spending, including $4 million for climate change programs and $1.25 million for UN organizations, the congressional aides said. Hmmm....Obama: 'Judge me by where my heart lies". Read the full story here.

Video - Top PA imam: 'Moving the U.S. Embassy to Jerusalem Will be a Declaration of War against All Muslims' (MEMRI).
In a January 6 Friday sermon, PA Chief Islamic Justice Sheikh Mahmoud Al-Habbash said that if the new U.S. administration carries out Trump's plan to relocate the U.S. embassy in Israel to Jerusalem, it would be "a declaration of war against all Muslims."
Al-Habbash, who serves as advisor to PA President Mahmoud Abbas on religious and Islamic affairs, called it "a level of political recklessness that is unheard of and said that the entire world would be in danger if America takes this step, which would "open the gates of Hellfire upon everybody."
The sermon, delivered in Ramallah, was attended by top PA officials, including Abbas, and was posted on the YouTube account of the PA's Chief Islamic Justice office.

Ukrainians celebrate the birthday of WWII Nazi collaborator Stepan Bandera, Chant 'Jews out'.
Ukrainians celebrate the birthday of WWII Nazi collaborator Stepan Bandera, Chant 'Jews out'. (TOI).
Ukrainian nationalists in Kiev chanted “Jews out” in German at a New Year’s Day march celebrating the birthday of a Nazi collaborator whose troops killed thousands of Jews.
Thousands attended the event in the center of the Ukrainian capital celebrating Stepan Bandera, a leader of Ukraine’s nationalist movement in the 1930s and ’40s. They held up his portrait while an unidentified person shouted the anti-Semitic slogan on a loudspeaker, prompting many participants to repeat it, a video published by the Federal News Agency showed.
Oleksandr Feldman, a Ukrainian Jewish lawmaker and president of the Ukrainian Jewish Committee, called on authorities to investigate the march and prosecute those responsible for the hateful slogans.
Feldman also accused the Svoboda party, a far-right movement whose leaders and followers often have engaged in anti-Semitic hate speech, of being responsible for what he termed “a provocation” during the march. Read the full story here.

Vatican and Israel criticize UNESCO: no one can deny biblical history.
Vatican and Israel criticize UNESCO: no one can deny biblical history. (AN).
The Vatican has joined the critics of the UNESCO decision to use only the name Arabic name of holy places in East Jerusalem, leaving out their Hebrew version.
The Joint Commission of the Chief Rabbinate of Israel's Delegation for Relations with the Catholic Church and the Holy See's Commission for Religious Relations with the Jews issued a joint statement noting that the UNESCO decision’s denies on political and polemical grounds the relationship between Jews and Temple Mount and the biblical story.
The communique states that it is necessary now more than ever to promote peace at a time when violence is perpetrated in the name of religion. In view of today’s challenges and human tragedies, it goes on to emphasize the importance of religious leaders setting an example for tolerance and respect.
The parties also promised that they would try to persuade more effectively their respective authorities to act in the most tolerant and humane ways towards “others” and the weak.
Pope Francis’s recent remarks to representatives of various religions are particularly appropriate. "May we reject the aimless paths of disagreement and closed-mindedness. May it never happen again that the religions, because of the conduct of some of their followers, convey a distorted message, out of tune with that of mercy. Sadly, not a day passes that we do not hear of acts of violence, conflict, kidnapping, terrorist attacks, killings and destruction. It is horrible that at times, to justify such barbarism, the name of a religion or the name of God himself is invoked.
May there be clear condemnation of these iniquitous attitudes that profane the name of God and sully the religious quest of mankind. May there instead be fostered everywhere the peaceful encounter of believers and genuine religious freedom." (Address of His Holiness Pope Francis to representatives of different religions, Vatican, 3 November 2016).
After more than half a century of Jewish-Catholic reconciliation and fruitful dialogue, Christians and Jews are called to work together to help create peace for the whole human family, fulfilling the words of the psalmist: "Love and truth will meet; justice and peace will kiss” (Psalm 85:11).
The parties also stressed the importance of educating the new generations to promote peace and mutual respect.

Video - Hamas Leader: Trump Possibly a Jew; Money Is the Jewish Religion, Obama African settler.
In a recent TV interview, Hamas leader Mahmoud Al-Zahhar said that he "did not rule out the possibility" that Trump was a Jew, because he "loves the Jews" and "loves the Jewish religion." "The most important thing in the Jewish religion is Jewish money," said Al-Zahhar in the interview, which was broadcast by the Al-Jazeera network on November 9. "The Jewish religion - the Jewish dollar - is the real decisive factor" in American politics," he said. (Memri) Al-Zahhar: "To tell you the truth, [Trump] has presented several policies that point to true ignorance with regard to American history. When he makes statements against the Mexican settlers, or against the Arab immigrants, who are fleeing the inferno in the countries you mentioned, or against the Africans – well, the U.S. is a country of settlers to begin with. He should ask his father where he came from. The president before [Trump] was an African settler. [...] "Trump loves the Jews, and not only because he likes the Jewish religion. I do not rule out the possibility that he is a Jew. He loves the Jewish religion, and the most important thing in the Jewish religion is Jewish money. [...] "In 1947, Harry Truman was a marginal candidate in the U.S. elections. He was approached by the Jewish money – which is the Jewish religion – and was awarded two million dollars, which made his electoral campaign prosper, because in American society you hand out money, you hand out pictures, posters, hats, and so on, and people who do not read at all are exposed to this. The outcome was that he won. Truman's first decision – driven by those two million dollars – was to recognize the Israeli entity in 1948. So the Jewish 'religion' – the Jewish dollar – is the real decisive factor. [...] "I advise everybody to watch [American] wrestling matches, and to see how the crowd reacts to the wrestlers, how it relates to this unnatural violence. That is their culture, their model for heroism: obscene language, obscene acts, obscene declarations, and obscene attacks on other countries. That is the [American] culture and upbringing. That is their true religion. [...] "With regard to sexual scandals – none of their presidents were immune to that. There was President Clinton before him and countless other names, and I'm only talking about the cases that were revealed. That is their culture, and this is their belief." Interviewer: "Is this the culture of the [American] people as well?" Al-Zahhar: "Yes, it is." |

UNESCO to vote on text describing Jewish Temple Mt, Western Wall as Muslim holy sites.

UNESCO to vote on text describing Jewish Temple Mt, Western Wall as Muslim holy sites. (ToI).
A group of 39 US lawmakers called on UNESCO to oppose a resolution that would challenge Jewish and Christian historical ties to the Old City of Jerusalem.
In a letter initiated by Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) and Rep. Ileana Ros-Lehtinen (R-Florida) to the Executive Board of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization, the lawmakers from both houses of Congress slammed what they called the UN’s “obsessive hostility towards Israel.”
That hostility, they wrote, “will be on display yet again this week as UNESCO considers another blatantly biased resolution that unjustly singles out our close ally Israel with false accusations and criticism, and attempts to erase the specific deep-rooted, historical connection of Jews and Christians to Jerusalem, Israel’s eternal capital.”
According to the lawmakers, “the Temple Mount, the holiest site in Judaism, along with the Western Wall, where Jews from all over the world have come to pray, are described exclusively as Muslim holy sites and referred to only by their Muslim names. When the Western Wall is referenced, it is only with quotation marks, implying that the title is unofficial and not based on historic fact.”
Ros-Lehtinen slammed the resolution’s “ill intent.”
Its purpose, she said, was “to deny the historical record of the Jewish peoples’ connections to their holiest city and to imply that Jerusalem is inconsequential to Jews and Christians, with the intent of laying the groundwork for additional UN efforts to delegitimize Israel and undermine its status as the capital of the Jewish State,” she wrote. Video - Dr. Edy Cohen analyzes Mahmoud Abbas' book "The Other Side: The Secret Relationship Between Nazism and Zionism"
Related:
Abbas' book reveals: The 'Nazi-Zionist plot' of the Holocaust. (Ynet).
Abbas' statement that there was no persecution or harassment of Jews in Arab countries is particularly painful to Dr. Edy Cohen.
He was born in Lebanon and served for many years in a variety of positions in the Israeli intelligence community. He is also the son of Chaim Cohen, one of the leaders of the Jewish community in Lebanon, who was kidnapped and murdered along with several colleagues in March 1985 by Hezbollah, which claimed that they were Mossad agents.
Dr. Cohen is today involved with organizations working to gain compensation for Jewish refugees who fled Iran and the Arab countries. He was also a research fellow at the International Institute for Holocaust Research at Yad Vashem. His areas of research include the cooperation between Arabs and Nazis, the life of Grand Mufti of Jerusalem Haj Amin al-Husseini, and the ideology of radical Islam.
Dr. Cohen: "Throughout the book, Abbas presents his thesis, which is actually an indictment against Zionism and its leaders, from David Ben-Gurion and onwards. In effect, Abbas accuses them of being criminals who collaborated with the Nazis and those responsible for the destruction of their people during the Holocaust.
"Abbas claims they deliberately thwarted many missions to save the Jews, inflamed hatred of the Jews by governments in order to fuel vengeance against them and expand the mass extermination - all the while collaborating with the Third Reich."
At the start of the book, entitled "The Other Side: the Secret Relationship Between Nazism and Zionism", Abbas ponders the identity of the other side, the secret partner to the crimes that took place during World War II.
He writes that Western countries "outlined a plan for the final framing of the results of the war, and everything that derives from these. … (T)hey accused the leaders of Nazism of all the crimes that occurred during that war, and persecuted those of them who were still alive, for an unlimited period, without any statute of limitations… thus these countries only dealt with half of the truth, and neglected - deliberately – the second half."
That "second half "of the responsibility for the events of the war is shared by the Zionist movement, who according to Abbas collaborated with the Nazis.
"When one discusses declared Zionist thought … we find that the Zionists believe in the purity of the Jewish race, just as Hitler believed in the purity of the Aryan race. Zionism calls for a fundamental and final solution to the Jewish Question in Europe via their immigration to Palestine. Hitler also calls for this and implements this … David Ben-Gurion defined the Zionist movement as solely a movement of immigration, and anyone who doesn't immigrate is a heretic and not considered a Jew," wrote Abbas.
And why did the heads of the Zionist movement need to connect with the Nazi leadership? The reason, according to Abbas, is that Zionism did not inspire great enthusiasm among the world's Jews before World War II.
For example, he writes: "The Jews of Europe in general and the Jews of Eastern Europe in particular did not adopt Zionism and did not believe in it. The national home for the Jews did not interest them at all. Therefore when the Holocaust was wrought upon them, the free world ignored their fate. But the first to ignore them were the Zionists who lived in Jerusalem, those whose lust for power had blinded them."
Dr. Cohen: "A complete reading of the text of the book shows that according to Abbas, Zionist leaders saw the persecution and harassment of (Jews) as desirable and acceptable – in order to force them to go to Israel. In his opinion, all measures were acceptable to achieve this goal - including collaboration with the Nazis."
In this context, writes Abbas: "It is well known that the motivation of anti-Semitism is persecution and repression, and this is definitely desirable for the Zionist movement. The conclusion from these ideas is that every racist in the world was given the green light, and first and foremost Hitler and the Nazis, to do with the Jews as they wish, as long as it ensures Jewish immigration to Palestine. The Zionist movement did not suffice with just giving a green light – but demanded even more victims, in order to be equal with the victims of other people in the war. This because it believes that raising the number of victims will increase its stock at the end of war, when the spoils are divided."
Thus, according to Abbas, the reason why the Zionist movement refused to act to save thousands of Jews from these countries during the Holocaust was a desire to "increase the amount of victims and receive privileges at the end of the war." Read the full story here.

Anti-Semitic incidents in the United States up more than 60%.
Anti-Semitic incidents in the United States up more than 60%. (INN).
Anti-Semitic incidents on American college campuses nearly doubled in 2015, the Anti-Defamation League (ADL) reported in an audit released on Wednesday, according to JTA.
In addition, the number of anti-Semitic assaults across the country increased by more than 60 percent last year, the organization's audit found.
A total of 90 incidents were reported on 60 college campuses last year, compared with 47 incidents on 43 campuses in 2014. Campus anti-Semitic incidents accounted for 10 percent of the total.
In one incident in January, swastikas were spray-painted on the exterior wall of a Jewish fraternity at the University of California, Davis, on the 70th anniversary of the liberation of Auschwitz from the Nazis.
The ADL audit recorded a total of 941 anti-Semitic incidents in the United States in 2015, an increase of three percent from 2014.
56 of the incidents were assaults, the most violent category recorded in the audit, up from the 36 reported the year before.
These assaults included attacks on visibly Jewish men as they returned home from synagogue in New York and Florida, and a kippah-wearing high school student in Denver who was struck with a rock by an assailant who also called him "Jewboy" and "kike."
The ADL audit is the latest confirmation of the rising numbers of anti-Semitic incidents around the world and specifically in the United States, which has not been immune from the phenomenon.
“We are disturbed that violent anti-Semitic incidents are rising,” Jonathan Greenblatt, ADL's CEO, said in a statement about the audit quoted by JTA. “And we know that for every incident reported, there’s likely another that goes unreported. So even as the total incidents have remained statistically steady from year to year, the trend toward anti-Semitic violence is very concerning.” Read the full story here.
