Quds Day is an annual Iranian-led event, held on the last Friday of the month of Ramadhan. It was declared by Ayatollah Khomeini in 1979.

Ukrainian Nationalists Promise 'Bloody Mess' As Kiev's LGBTs Prepare To March.

Ukrainian Nationalists Promise 'Bloody Mess' As Kiev's LGBTs Prepare To March. (Rferl).

The battle lines are being drawn in the Ukrainian capital.

Activists supporting the country's lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender (LGBT) community are determined to hold a March of Equality on June 12. Many of Ukraine's nationalists and cultural conservatives seem equally determined to stop them -- even if that means violence and bloodshed.
Artem Skoropadskiy, a spokesman for the far-right Right Sector movement, predicted on Facebook on May 29 that "on June 12 in Kyiv there will be a bloody mess."

Mykola Kokhanivskyy, chairman of the Organization of Ukrainian Nationalists (OUN), told RFE/RL that his organization feels justified in using violence to prevent "perverts" from marching.

"The majority is categorically opposed to letting these perverts publicly demonstrate their perversion," Kokhanivskyy said. "Since the majority opposes this, they shouldn't do it. We can go through the courts or use other means to ban it. But if this doesn't happen, then upset citizens have the right to use force against this illegal manifestation of perversion."

These are not idle threats.

Moreover, discrimination and violence are a daily reality for LGBT people in Ukraine.
"I have a lot of friends and acquaintances in the LGBT community, and I see how they are discriminated against on a daily basis," says Ian Gubskiy, who is gay and transgender.

"Some people can't even appear on the streets because they might be beaten at any moment. Literally yesterday, they tried to attack a friend of mine and we had to defend him."

This year, the story is shaping up similarly. About 600 people have registered to participate in the event, while some 13,000 people have endorsed a petition calling on the city government to ban the march.

Organizers said 20 members of the parliament and an array of Western diplomats have pledged to join the march.

Police have promised to deploy 6,500 officers to prevent clashes. Read the full story here.

'Herrenvolk' Turkey's promises to disrupt talks if Kurds appear in Geneva are inadmissible — envoy. (Tass).

Turkish representatives' promises to disrupt the Syria peace talks if a Kurdish delegation appears in the Swiss capital is inadmissible, Russia's Permanent Representative to the UN Office and other International Organization in Geneva Alexey Borodavkin told TASS on Saturday.

"We demand the Kurds be represented at the talks," Borodavkin said. "We go on saying to both UN officials and U.S. colleagues that Turkey is blackmailing when puts forward the conditions that if Syrian Kurds appear at the talks, the Turkish representatives will disrupt them. It is totally unacceptable and absolutely inadmissible."

"According to our observations, the understanding that Syrian Kurds should be present at the talks and take part in the political process is an absolutely essential point," Borodavkin said. Read the full story here.

Erdogan regime Seeks to Lift Kurdish Opposition MP’s Immunity.

Erdogan regime Seeks to Lift Kurdish Opposition MP’s Immunity. (Alwaght).

Turkish government has called on the country's parliament to lift the legislative immunity of leaders of the opposition Peoples' Democratic Party (HDP) so they can face charges of "openly instigating people to hatred and hostility" and "being a member of an armed terrorist organization".

State-run Anadolu Agency cited Parliamentary sources as saying that the Prime Ministry Office submitted a motion to lift the parliamentary immunity of HDP Co-Chairs Selahattin Demirtas and Figen Yuksekdag and of party deputies Selma Irmak, Sirri Sureyya Onder, and Ertugrul Kurkcu.

The Ministry of Justice sent a related summary of proceedings on Friday, the Turkish agency reported, adding the office of the parliament speaker then forwarded the motion to the joint parliamentary commission on constitution and justice, which will decide whether the general assembly should vote on lifting the immunity.

Turkish government accuse five HDP deputes of declaring autonomy during a December meeting of a group affiliated with the party in southeastern Turkey.

"Last December, in a meeting in Diyarbakır, Demirtaş said his party would support calls for the formation of democratic autonomous regions in Turkey's southeast," Anadolu Agency claimed
Prime Minister Ahmet Davutoğlu had previously broached the idea of lifting the immunity of HDP parliamentarians due to the party's alleged support for terrorism.

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has on various occasions claimed that HDP is an extension of the Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) which Turkey deems as a terrorist group.

Referring to the HDP’s last year election success Demirtas told reporters earlier in the week that, "Erdogan is personally angry with us, especially me and a few other friends. He is...driven by feelings of revenge". Hmmm........Erdogan has reached the point that  'A dead or imprisoned Kurd is a good Kurd'

Some 'Kurdish' MPs from Turkish opposition may be deprived of immunity.

Killed PKK members dragged to monument that says : 'Happy is he who can say i am a Turk'

Some 'Kurdish' MPs from Turkish opposition may be deprived of immunity. (TAZ).

Five MPs from the opposition Peoples’ Democratic Party (HDP) in Turkey may be deprived of immunity, the Turkish TV channel TRT Haber reported March 9.

The MPs, whose names were undisclosed, may be deprived of immunity for having ties with the terrorist organization ‘Kurdistan Workers’ Party’ (PKK), according to the TV channel.

In December 2015, Prime Minister of Turkey Ahmet Davutoglu criticized the policy of the Peoples’ Democratic Party and accused its members of having ties with the PKK.

PKK’s attacks on military units and police stations in the south-eastern Turkey have become more frequent in recent months. During 2015, more than 200 soldiers were killed in Turkey in the clashes with the PKK.

The conflict between Turkey and the PKK, which demands the creation of an independent Kurdish state, has continued for over 25 years and claimed more than 40,000 lives. PKK is listed as a terrorist organization by the UN and the European Union.

Video - footage of Afro-American Citizen Tracey Lynn Brown killed by Turkish Police at Istanbul Airport

Video -  footage of Afro-American Citizen Tracey Lynn Brown killed by Turkish Police at Istanbul Airport.

Video footage showing the events leading to the death of US citizen Tracey Lynn Brown at Istanbul Atatürk Airport in 2013, when she suffocated due to police officers applying too much pressure on her while holding her on the ground, has been released.

Brown, who arrived at the airport on April 4, 2013, from Tashkent and was to travel to Chicago, was waiting in the international arrivals terminal. According to the footage, Brown went into a room belonging to the department of passport control at 9:48 pm, and about four minutes later she was dragged out of the room by the police. Brown, who left the scene after the incident, returned after six hours.

The footage showed the police putting handcuffs on her and then putting her in a room. After a few minutes, Brown somehow frees herself of the handcuffs and the police officers knock her to the ground, handcuffing her from behind and exerting pressure on her with their legs and arms for about 17 minutes. A doctor is seen arriving and giving the woman a sedative without examining her. The police officers, who release the pressure on the woman after the doctor leaves the room, realize the woman is not breathing and call the doctor back. The doctor administers CPR for seven minutes and then sends her to a hospital.

According to the reports in Turkish media, the woman died on April 18, 2013, at the hospital and the forensic report confirmed that she died due to the intense pressure put on her chest and neck.

The Bakırköy Chief Public Prosecutor's Office filed a criminal complaint against the 12 police officers and the doctor, Mesut Ö., who all face jail time of 12 years to 16 years. The fourth hearing of the case will be in October. In their statements, the police officers argued that when the woman first entered the transfer room she angrily asked about her daughter and was belligerent to them. The woman is seen being dragged on the ground by the police officers four minutes after she entered the room in the video footage.

According to the video footage, the woman is seen running into the room six hours after her first entry. The police officers claimed in their statements that the woman was holding a pair of scissors and that she wounded one of the officers on his hand while she scattered documents from the desk to the floor. In the footage, the police are seen handcuffing the woman to a chair. However, she manages to get rid of the handcuffs. Then, a group of police officers knock the woman to the ground and apply pressure to her back, hands, feet and neck for 17 minutes, causing her to suffocate.

In the video, the doctor is seen watching the ill treatment by the police officers and not saying anything to Brown, who is unable to move and then he injects a sedative into her while she is on the ground. After the doctor has left the room when the officers noticed that she was not breathing, they called the doctor back again for treatment.

Despite the CPR applied by the doctor she did not show any signs of life. The woman was taken to the hospital. She died 14 days after the incident and a report prepared by the Council of Forensic Medicine (ATK) confirmed that she died of pressure applied to her chest and neck.

The Bakırköy Prosecutor's Office requested reports for the third time from the ATK regarding the details of the incident and all three separate reports concluded that the actions of the police officers and Brown's death were linked.

The latest report, contrary to the first two ones, put blame on the doctor for failing to intervene while Brown was being held on the ground while pressure was being applied to her, an act that contradicts the rights of patients. Hmmmm......If you're planning to have a holiday in Turkey make sure not to ask info from the police in the airport.....you might regret it. Don't expect Pres Hussein Obama to react to this, his BFF Erdogan is 'untouchable'

Video - Stand Up Comedy Jim Jefferies - US Gun Control -

Some may consider putting this video as 'Bad taste', I've always considered and used humor as a way to get the message over.

A Must read!  The Chapel Hill Tragedy and American Muslims’ Mental Health.

When acts like this murder hit so close to home, it’s natural to fall in to a state of despair, helplessness, paranoia and depression. But that is not the only murder that is happening: we are slowly killing ourselves by denying the destruction that mental illness is causing in our communities.

How does one cope with such acts of hatred, knowing that people do not care if you live or die? This type of stress is not new in the society; any marginalized and oppressed population feel the same pain. Statistics of drug use, depression, anxiety, suicide, addictions, psychotic episodes in the American Muslim population are rapidly approaching (if it already has not in select areas) the norm of American society.

We have taken that away from ourselves as a society. We do not put the same weight of mental health as we do on physical health. This is the silent killer

The instability of people’s mental health goes unnoticed, and then when they do some unstable things, we are surprised and shocked.
Hatred is a mental health issue.
Lack of value for life is a mental health issue.
How many youth had to die in those schools before we took mental health seriously?
How many people had to get shot on college campuses before we address our mental health?
How many fatal hate crimes do we want to happen to anyone before we take this seriously?
Mental Health is not a game anymore: it is life and death, literally.
Our mental health takes us seriously, so we had better take it seriously. This begins with acknowledging that there is a problem, addressing it, and beginning the process of healing and some type of therapy, consultation, evaluation, and similar services from professionals.
