The Islamic Republic of Iran has banned chess players brother and sister from any upcoming tournament due to the former's playing with an Israeli representative and the latter's not wearing hijab.

Dorsa Derakhshani, an 18-year-old member of the Iranian Women's National Chess Team and the sixth world champion in under-18 games, was expelled from the national team for not covering her hair in the Tradewise Gibraltar Chess Festival, which was held in late January and early February 2017, Iranian media quoted Mehrdad Pahlevanzadeh, head of Iran's Chess Federation, as saying.

Her 15-year-old brother, Borna Darakhshani was also expelled from the national team because of playing with an Israeli counterpart.

"The first step in dealing with them would be to deprive them from playing in Iran, and they won't have a chance to be in the national team,” Pahlevanzadeh said.

He also said the issue is a matter of “national interest” and the Chess Federation will deal with the siblings in the “severest way possible.”

Dorsa is presently studying in Spain and had participated in the Gibraltar games independently. Her brother, who had also registered in the games on his own, played with Alexander Huzman, a grandmaster from Israel.

The Islamic Republic does not officially recognize Israel and bans members of its national teams to compete with Israeli citizens in international tournaments.

Two years after militants of the Islamic State (ISIS) kidnapped over 6,000 Yezidis from their towns and villages in the Shingal region, the chance to get them back is diminishing fast, says Yezidi activist and medical doctor Mirza Dinnayi. In the past two years around 3,000 people were rescued from the extremist group, but recently the number has declined. Some of the captives are so damaged and indoctrinated that they no longer think escape is possible, while rescuing missions in general have become too difficult and too expensive for many families to afford. Dinnayi who has helped many Yezidi victims reach Germany for treatment, says that as it becomes almost impossible to rescue more captives, his focus is on getting former ISIS victims, especially women and young girls out of refugee camps to Europe where they could recover and start a normal life again.

Rudaw: How many people are still captive in ISIS (Daesh) territories? Both 3,200 and 3,700 figures have been mentioned?


The correct figure is about 3,700 and the difference between the figures is the men, the rest are women and children.

What should be done to get them out?


I am afraid it is too late. I think most of the men could be dead. When in April 2015 we had the option to rescue 3,500 of them from Talafar, neither the Iraqis, Kurdish nor the allied forces did anything even though they knew their situation there. There was a possibility to make a quick attack because the distance with the Peshmerga troops was no more than ten kilometers. You could release them within days. I do not know why they did not do anything. ISIS, after this, divided all the people. We do not know what happened to the 500 men since then. There were some reports that they were killed. And ISIS separated the women from the children and distributed the women all over their territories. Now it is very difficult to get them back.

In the past some 2,600 people were able to escape one way or another. Did that stop?


In the past our girls escaped and through smuggling networks were brought out. That was not expensive as you only had to pay these people. But escape is no longer possible. The girls are now completely destroyed psychologically. Most have been told that all Yezidis were killed or Islamized. They are brainwashed, and cannot escape. Also, ISIS has in the last year established special Sharia Courts to register all slaves under the name of their owners. So if a girl escapes, any checkpoint would know who to return her to.

The only way is to pay ISIS and that is now very expensive. The smugglers are asking money because it is a dangerous job now, and next to that you pay the ISIS fighter. He does not know that he is selling the woman to the outside, because it is forbidden, he thinks he sells her to another fighter. Three weeks ago I met a girl who was liberated this way. Her brother paid $22,000 for her. $12,000 to the ISIS fighter, about $3,000 to a middleman and $7,000 to the smuggler. He had borrowed the money from his neighbors, who are also living in the camp and are also poor.

Now the number of girls being bought back is very small, as money is the main problem. People cannot pay, and the government is not paying. The special office for Yezidi Affairs is treating people badly. I heard from the families of survivors that they are told there to negotiate about the price, even if they say they cannot. And even though the regulations are different, the office will only pay back afterwards. So the people have to find the money first themselves.

The only other way is to swap them for fighters. The PKK did it two or three times, and with every fighter exchanged they got back 30 to 50 girls.

How many girls or women were found in the towns that were liberated from ISIS?


Hardly any. Just a few from Falluja. That means ISIS takes them when they move, as they have become a commodity. Just like if you have gold, and there is a war, you take it. They do not leave the girls behind, who are in the main cities, and not in the villages.

You have organized, with KRG and your organization Luftbrücke Irak (Air bridge Iraq) the operation that brought girls and women who were saved from ISIS for treatment to Germany. Will this program be extended for more victims?


We transferred 1,100 victims, and would support the most vulnerable who want to leave, especially the victims of ISIS staying in the camps. We now have 1,643 of these survivors in Iraq, who are staying in tents, with all their traumas. Nobody takes care of them, although we have some NGOs trying to. I respect that, but it is not enough. Imagine a girl, woman or child, who lost everything and has been more than a year with ISIS, and with such bad experiences now lives in a tent. She is taken to a psychotherapist for 20 to 25 minute sessions and then sent back, and given some drugs to keep her clam… That is not a solution. A girl like that has no social or economic existence, no family left, and you try to solve her problems with drugs – that, by the way, she has to even buy herself?

Are you planning to get them out of Iraq for treatment?


Yes, I am working to find a way to get at least 90 percent of them out. I recognize what the NGO are trying to do, but I am not convinced that this will help them. Even so, they will not be happy outside either, as they have a lot of problems not related to migration. But I see our girls and women when they come over for a holiday, and then they cannot even stay here for the whole period, as here they have no existence, no health service…

How are the victims coping in Germany?

Till now we have seen nine or ten marriages of victims who went outside. About 60 percent of the group were children, and they go to school. All young girls are visiting the schools, some are trying to study, but many had little education. Their mothers are happy to see that, but it is not easy for them after what they have lost. Not easy, but much better than it would be here.

Will these victims ever be able to live a normal life again?

Our duty is to help them to live with their pain. But life will never be normal for them. The only hope is for their children: they will recover. The women feel stronger now, but normal it will never be for them again.        Hmmm.....Canada took NINE Yezidi out of 25,000 MUSLIM refugees.

Religious parties warned the government on Tuesday of a nationwide protest movement if the controversial women’s protection act of Punjab was not withdrawn by March 27.

Describing the Protection of Women Against Violence Act as ‘un-Islamic’, the religious groups convened another meeting on April 2 in Islamabad to decide their future course of action.

Representatives of more than 35 religious parties huddled in Mansoora, Lahore, for an All-Pakistan Ulema Conference organised by the Jamaat-e-Islami and unanimously condemned the women’s protection law.

They called upon the government to re-introduce the law, accommodating the recommendations of the Council of Islamic Ideology, which advises parliament on the compatibility of laws with Islam. It has already declared the act un-Islamic. The government has formed a consultation committee to mull over possible amendments.

The Protection of Women against Violence Act passed last month gives legal protection to women from domestic, psychological and sexual violence. It recommends creating a toll-free abuse reporting  hotline, shelters for women and district-level panels to investigate reports of abuse. It also allows using GPS bracelets to keep track of offenders.

A joint declaration after Tuesday’s conference said statements given by government officials on the women’s protection law and Mumtaz Qadri’s hanging were against the Sharia, the ideology of Pakistan and its Constitution.

Pakistan was founded on the principles of Islam and the Objectives Resolution, it said, adding that all religious parties would thwart all efforts to make Pakistan a liberal or secular state.

The resolution claimed the law would increase the divorce rate in society and result in damaging the traditional family structure. It also said that the law was introduced in an effort to Westernise the country.

The leaders called for the proper implementation of the existing laws on violence against women instead of introducing un-Islamic laws.

Of the 76 women lawmakers of the Punjab Assembly, only 44 were present at the time of legislation. PTI’s Shunila Ruth was one of them. “I fail to understand the hue and cry. There is a perception that this law has somehow challenged the masculinity of men in our society,” she said.

Punjab Assembly’s Standing Committee on Gender Mainstreaming Chairperson Raheela Khadim believes not just the law but the women supporting it also were facing criticism. “Women are usually snubbed in the society and this attitude is present even in the upper echelons of the society. An example would be the criticism being faced publicly by women supporting the law.”

One of the many women behind the law, Azma Bukhari says despite the growing opposition, the law is in no danger. “There are so many contradictions in the concerns raised. There is no answer over which clause of the law is un-Islamic,” said the PML-N lawmaker, also the chairperson of the standing committee on Law and parliamentary affairs. A 12-year-old girl died on Thursday morning after being allegedly set on fire by a 19-year old man, who is also accused of repeatedly raping her in the last eight days.

Sunil, 19, allegedly poured kerosene on the girl last night at her residence in Balwinder Singh ka vehra (one-room houses) in Sherpur area following which she was rushed to Ludhiana Civil Hospital with more than 95 percent burns.

The girl named Sunil in her statement before a magistrate and said that he threatened to kill her if she revealed anything to her parents.

Speaking to Indian Express, RS Cheema, Assistant commissioner of police (ACP) south, said, “The girl used to stay at home and the accused was teasing her for days. She was being repeatedly raped since 8-10 days and she did not reveal it to her parents. Yesterday, she decided to tell to her parents but before that Sunil poured kerosene on her and set her ablaze.”

The gynecologist, who performed a medical check up before her death, confirmed to the police that the girl was brutally raped.

She was referred to PGIMER Chandigarh after her condition became extremely critical, but succumbed to burn injuries on her way.

Tension gripped Sherpur area after her family blocked traffic and staged protest with the dead body demanding Sunil’s arrest.

An FIR has been registered at Focal Point police station in which police has booked the father and two brothers of the accused under section 120-B (conspiracy) of IPC. His father Harish and two brothers, Anil and Laxman (aged 19 and 22), have now been arrested. The main accused, Sunil, is still absconding.

A popular pit-stop for travelers just 50 km from Delhi, gave a chilling face to allegations that women were pulled out of cars and gang-raped here a week ago, at the height of violence during Jat quota protests.

The police say no one has been able to confirm the mass rapes that allegedly took place late on Sunday night; no witnesses have come forward, no complaints have been made and villagers have said nothing.

"We appeal to people to provide any information. We are very serious about the case...we will investigate and make sure that the guilty are punished," said Haryana police chief Yash Pal Singal.

"The clothes that have been found have been collected. We are trying to ascertain if a crime was committed," he added,

Three women officers have been tasked with receiving any rape complaint during the Jat protests.

A newspaper report had said that cars were stopped by a mob of 30 and at least 10 women were dragged out and raped in the fields. The cars were allegedly set on fire.

The report quoted eyewitnesses as saying that the women lay in the fields almost till dawn until their families came looking for them. Witnesses are quoted as saying the women were persuaded by the police not to press charges.

An NGO has said that its members spoke to witnesses who confirmed the rapes.

Taking note of the allegations, the Punjab and Haryana High Court on Wednesday asked Haryana's Chief Secretary and the police chief to submit a report on the alleged rapes in Murthal.

In a renewed attempt to raise awareness about the prevalence of child marriages in Lebanon, nongovernmental organization Kafa (meaning “enough” in Arabic) staged a photoshoot with a middle-aged man and a 12-year-old girl in a wedding dress.

While some passersby did not react and others were visibly disturbed but kept their opinions to themselves, a large number of those who appeared in the video were outraged at the setup.

One woman demanded to know where the young girl’s parents were, exclaiming, “She’s 12! I was jogging but my feet froze when I saw her.”

Another bystander reminded the woman that “the law allows it.”

“What we call femicide is actually murder of women who revolt against abuse and push for independence,” says the We Will Stop Femicides Platform (WSF). But their husbands and male family members respond to this new-found independence with more violence, while protection mechanisms fail to protect the victims.

In Turkey, the number of women who are subjected to violence and murder has increased, but so has the brutality of the violence, according to an Izmir-based jurist.

Nuriye Kadan, who heads Izmir Bar Association’s Women’s Rights and Legal Support Office, says that the last decade has not only seen the increase in the numbers of women subject to violence, but that the violence itself has become more intense and barbaric, “bordering on torture.”

“A woman who came to us for legal protection last year had been stabbed 42 times by her husband,” Kadan told Hurriyet Daily News (HDN) on Nov. 25, the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women. “These women are not just killed; they are mutilated and subjected to additional violence before and after the murder. The dose of violence borders on torture. The so-called third page news on women’s murders include attempts to burn the body, cut it into pieces or decapitation.”

“We have lost 294 women in murders only last year. That’s the number found through our press monitoring. The state does not share all the data. Our focus is to make sure that there is no penalty reduction for good behavior and that ‘passionate crime’ reasoning is not used for those who carried out female homicides,” Kural said at a TEDx event in Izmir.

“What we want ultimately is an article in the criminal code that prevents anything but maximum penalty for the perpetrators of femicides, with no pardons. We have submitted a bill to parliament and we remind each Family and Social Affairs Minister of this goal.” Hmmmm......With the rise of a certain party the number of Women murders rose as well. NCRI - The Women's Committee of the National Council of Resistance of Iran (NCRI) has published a book entitled "Iranian Women Under Rouhani", highlighting the abuse of women's rights in the first two years of Hassan Rouhani's term in office.

The report looks at the conditions of women during the past two years, revealing two issues: on the one hand, the rise in suppression and pressures against women and on the other, the continuation of protests.

In October 2014, Reyhaneh Jabbari, 26, was hanged for defending herself against an agent of the Iranian regime’s Intelligence Ministry, a man who intended to rape her. This was while many international bodies had called for her release and protested this execution. Reyhaneh’s body was left hanging from the noose for an hour after her death.

Political prisoners have been the prime victims of human rights violations in Iran.

Motahareh Bahrami, Reyhaneh Haj-Ibrahim, Zeynab Jalalian, Sedigheh Moradi and Fatima Rahnama have been deprived of medical treatment despite suffering from serious illnesses.

The physical conditions of Atena Daemi and Atena Farghadani, both under pressure in prison, are unacceptable and they are imprisoned for defending their freedom of expression.

Afsaneh Bayazidi and Atena Farghadani have resorted to hunger strikes to obtain their rights.
Dozens of women have been arrested in rallies protesting acid attacks and other demonstrations.
During Rouhani’s tenure many women have been suppressed and arrested for their beliefs and religion.

As for social damages, during Rouhani’s tenure, women have topped two charts: “suffering from depression” and “cases of self-immolation throughout the Middle East.”


The state-run Tabnak website reported the latest numbers of cases of psychological disorders amongst women has reached 26% adding that women have an 11% higher depression rate compared to men. (State-run Tabnak website – June 22, 2015).

Gurgaon: A Saudi Arabian diplomat is being investigated after two Nepalese women rescued from his home in Gurgaon have alleged gang-rape and repeated assault.

"We were treated like animals," one of the women told NDTV.

On Monday, 40 policemen arrived at the fifth floor flat of the diplomat to find the women being beaten by two Saudi women, who allegedly spat on the police and assaulted them.

In an FIR or police complaint that does not mention the diplomat's name but only "Saudi Arab Ke Admi (people from Saudi Arabia)", the women have given the police a disturbing account of gang-rape, torture and slavery.

"We have established the identity and have enough proof against the flat owner, but diplomatic immunity is involved and we will get back to the foreign ministry," said Navdeep Singh Virk, the Gurgaon police chief.

The Saudi Arabian embassy, however, denied called the allegations false and unproven, and lodged a protest with India on the "police intrusion into a diplomat's house against all diplomatic conventions."

The two women had been working with the family as domestic helps for four months. The torture allegedly began in Jeddah and continued in Gurgaon.

The women were allegedly raped and tortured by different men who visited the house. "They raped us, kept us locked up, did not give us anything to eat," one of the women told NDTV.

One of them, a 50-year-old from Morang in Nepal, had divorced recently. The other woman, 30, has two little children in Nepal's Baglung, and a husband who has cancer.

They both took the job in desperation but were never paid.

They said they were afraid to tell anyone because they were beaten and threatened, sometimes with a knife.

The horror in that household was exposed when a newly hired help ran away after seeing the wretched condition of the women. She contacted a non-profit - Meitei India - which went to the police.

‘The entry of women at volleyball matches is forbidden,’ an official of the Iranian regime’s volleyball federation said on Friday, state-run ISNA news agency reported.

As part of the International Volleyball Federation’s (FIVB) 2015 World League, a match between Iran and the United States is scheduled to be held in the Azadi Sports Complex in Tehran on Friday.

The Iranian regime previously prohibited women from attending an international men’s volleyball match in June 2014, in contravention of the principle of gender non-discrimination in sports.

State-run ISNA news agency reported on June 17, 2015 that a source inside Iran’s volleyball federation had confirmed that the “entry of all women to the Azadi Sports Complex during the World League matches has been prohibited.”

In November 2014, the International Federation of Volleyball (FIVB) sanctioned Iran from hosting international events for as long as women are not allowed to watch games.

A spokesman for the international federation told AFP on 9 November 2015 that the FIVB will "not give Iran the right to host any future FIVB directly controlled events such as World Championships, especially under age, until the ban on women attending volleyball matches is lifted".

"This does not include other volleyball tournaments or next year's World League tournament because the fixtures are already confirmed," the spokesman added.

The Iranian regime’s then police chief General Esmail Ahmadi Moghaddam said in June 2014 "we cannot allow the presence of women in stadia" because gender mixing "is not yet in the public interest".

The current Iranian regime’s police chief said on Thursday his forces have acted based on their natural duty in banning the entrance of women into sports stadiums or cancelling various music concerts.

The commander of the police Hossein Ashtari said in a trip to Qom: If we prevent the presence of women in concerts and sports stadiums, we are acting based on our natural and sharia duty,” the state-run Entekhab website wrote. Hmmm......Never....ever try to tell a woman what to do!

In her first feature film, “I Am Nojoom, Age 10 and Divorced”, Yemeni director Khadija al-Salami tells the story of Yemen’s most famous child divorcee. But it’s also a retelling of the Paris-based filmmaker’s own life story.

When Nojoom first learned that her father had arranged to marry her off, she did not know her future husband – nor, for that matter, what a marriage was all about.

The 10-year-old native of the Yemeni capital Sanaa believed that marriage entailed a “fairytale princess” white dress. For her – as for many girls across the world – marriage was a sequined fantasy that included a Prince Charming and a vague “happily ever after” ending.

But that’s not what happens in Khadija al-Salami’s film, “I Am Nojoom, Age 10 and Divorced” (Ana Nojoom Bent Alasherah Wamotalagah). In the chillingly realistic film, little Nojoom is forcibly married, raped on her wedding night, and subjected to sexual and psychological abuse until she manages to escape. She seeks the protection of a judge in Sanaa who decides to take her case to court. After a farcical trial, Nojoom gets a divorce – the first-ever for a child bride in Yemen.

One in three girls is married before the age of 18 in Yemen and one in seven before the age of 15, according to UNICEF. In September 2013, the case of Rawan, an 8-year-old girl who died of internal bleeding on her wedding night, made international headlines and sparked an outcry against child marriages. Yemen ranks second in the Middle East and North Africa region in early marriages per capita, after Sudan.

The strength of al-Salami’s film is not so much the theme of violence as the way it is portrayed. To illustrate the absurdity of early marriages, the director often juxtaposes the delights of childhood against the brutality of Yemeni traditions. The 10-year-old central character trades her engagement ring for a doll – which she clutches during the wedding ceremonies – and at one point, Nojoom abandons the festivities to slip out and play hopscotch with her friends.

The gritty portrayal is sometimes forced, but never caricatured. Based on the true story of Nujood Ali, a gutsy Yemeni girl who became the world’s youngest divorcée in 2008 after escaping her marriage, the film bears the same title as a book on Ali’s story ghostwritten by French journalist Delphine Minoui.

Now 16, Ali has chosen the name Nojoom, which means “stars in the sky”, instead of Nujood, which means “hidden”.

Women are a curse’

The first feature film by the documentary filmmaker and women’s rights advocate is more than just a retelling of Ali’s case – it’s a reliving of al-Salami’s own story.

“I lived the same experience as Nujood/Nojoom at 11,” said al-Salami at a film screening earlier this week at the Arab World Institute (Institut du Monde Arabe) in Paris. “I had to fight against family, against society. Now that I’m an adult, I wanted to make a movie that was a wake-up call.”

Born in Sanaa, al-Salami was forced into an early marriage at 11 by her uncle, who was her guardian after her mother divorced her violent father. Escaping the abusive marriage was a difficult journey for the young girl, who finally received a scholarship to study in the United States before she settled in Paris.

In the film al-Salami is critical of social customs and the lack of education in a country where 54.5% of Yemenis live below the poverty line.

But the film also presents a nuanced insight into how societal values entrap individuals. During the divorce proceedings, Nojoom’s father and husband are never portrayed as villainous predators but as impoverished, illiterate men unable to comprehend the problem. “But tell me what crime have I committed?” repeats the husband, more fearful of the reaction of his village sheikh than by the court sentencing or the gravity of his act.

At times the director even seems to sympathise with Nojoom’s father. When he uncomprehendingly explains to the judge that he married off his daughter to protect her from being “dishonoured” after her sister was raped by one of the men in the village, he says, “Women are a curse.” The statement is not portrayed as a critique of the father’s patriarchal values, but as a basic postulate rooted in Yemeni society.

“The problem in Yemen is not only the behaviour of the husband or the father, it is above all poverty, illiteracy, ignorance,” explained al-Salami.

The final image of the film features the words, “Knowledge is light,” written on a blackboard.

Clandestine filming

The biggest challenge in tackling the issue of child marriages is the absence of relevant legislation. “There is no law in Yemen banning marriage between partners under 18 years, so we had to find another way of denouncing forced marriages,” al-Salami said. “With this film, I want to force parents to reflect on their actions … For that, I would like to screen the film in every village across my country.”

Given the current security situation in Yemen, it’s unlikely that al-Salami will be able to realise that dream. But the 49-year-old director has been careful to present a realistic portrayal of the story, one that Yemenis can recognise and relate to.

“I Am Nojoom, Age 10 and Divorced” was shot entirely in Yemen, despite the difficulties, the obstacles, the lack of a cinema culture — and without authorisation.

A survey by a Turkish research firm meant to determine women’s place in society reveals rampant domestic abuse in Turkey, and that most abuse victims avoid reporting such incidents.

The Gezici Research Firm conducted face-to-face interviews with 3,860 women in 36 cities and found that not only is domestic violence on the rise, but also that women’s social rights are frequently ignored.

Of the women who participated in the survey 45 percent admitted to suffering domestic abuse at home. Of those women, 72 percent were housewives.

Meanwhile 35 percent of women said their husbands threatened them with physical violence and 78 percent admitted to being yelled at by their husbands. Half the respondents said they considered “verbal abuse” normal.

The percentage of domestic abuse increased as one went from more urban environment to more rural ones, with the highest incidence occurring in the Southeast Anatolia region with 57 percent and the lowest in the Aegean region with 12 percent.

67 percent of women who were abused by their husbands said they would not go to the police. When asked “why do abused women do nothing to end it?”, 60 percent responded that the woman has nowhere to go, 32 percent said it was over economic inability and only 7 percent said it was out of shame.

The survey also collected data on women’s education levels and employment.

Results revealed that only 18 percent of women under 27 with lower than high school education worked, while 23 percent of high school graduates and 46 percent of university graduates were employed.

 Of women between the ages of 28-44, only 26 percent of women with university degrees were housewives, a figure which skyrocketed to 75 percent for high school graduates.

Of the women who work, 47 percent did so without social security and 68 percent admitted to being unhappy with their jobs.

The Human Rights Association (ihd), in its 2014 human rights abuse report released on Thursday, has revealed that 335 women died and 789 women were injured in incidents of domestic violence and abuse over the last year in Turkey.

According to the İHD report, 39 women committed suicide and 13 attempted to end their own lives, sustaining injuries in the process, in 2014. A total of 296 women died during the year as a result of domestic violence, rape and sexual assault. 

Additionally, 585 women were injured after being subjected to a variety of types of violence; 191 women were injured after becoming victims of rape and sexual assault, and 289 were forced into prostitution in 2014.


Over the period of 2002-2009, years when the Justice and Development Party (AK Party) were in power, murders of women reportedly increased by 1,400 percent, and at least five women were killed a day. At present all statistics between 2009 and 2015 are held by the government, which is not sharing the figures with the public.

The head of the Gaziantep Bar Association’s Women Rights Commission, Günay Kaplan, said on Thursday that the violence against women was on the rise, as evidenced by the statistics. Isil militants have published a horrific document outlining how sex slaves can be treated, including with beatings and daily rapes. The pamphlet, which is dated Muharram 1436 (October/November 2014) and was printed by ISIS’s publishing house, Al-Himma Library, is titled Su’al wa-Jawab fi al-Sabi wa-Riqab (“Questions and Answers on Taking Captives and Slaves”).

The document was obtained by the US-based Middle East Media Research Institute who published full details of it on a website.

It was written by Isil’s “Department for Prisoners and Women’s Affairs”, presumably, says the MEMRI, in response to the uproar caused by the many reports this summer that ISIS had taken Yazidi girls and women as sex slaves.

It explains in sickening detail when a female can be raped by her captors, some of whom pay as little as £27 for each of their victims.

"Question 1: What is al-sabi?

"Al-Sabi is a woman from among ahl al-harb [the people of war] who has been captured by Muslims.

"Question 2: What makes al-sabi permissible?

"What makes al-sabi permissible [i.e., what makes it permissible to take such a woman captive] is [her] unbelief. Unbelieving [women] who were captured and brought into the abode of Islam are permissible to us, after the imam distributes them [among us]."

"Question 3: Can all unbelieving women be taken captive?

"There is no dispute among the scholars that it is permissible to capture unbelieving women [who are characterized by] original unbelief [kufr asli], such as the kitabiyat [women from among the People of the Book, i.e. Jews and Christians] and polytheists. However, [the scholars] are disputed over [the issue of] capturing apostate women. The consensus leans towards forbidding it, though some people of knowledge think it permissible. We [ISIS] lean towards accepting the consensus…"
"Question 4: Is it permissible to have intercourse with a female captive?
"It is permissible to have sexual intercourse with the female captive. Allah the almighty said: '[Successful are the believers] who guard their chastity, except from their wives or (the captives and slaves) that their right hands possess, for then they are free from blame [Koran 23:5-6]'..."

"Question 5: Is it permissible to have intercourse with a female captive immediately after taking possession [of her]?
"If she is a virgin, he [her master] can have intercourse with her immediately after taking possession of her. However, is she isn't, her uterus must be purified [first]…"

"It is permissible to buy, sell, or give as a gift female captives and slaves, for they are merely property, which can be disposed of [as long as that doesn't cause [the Muslim ummah] any harm or damage."

"It is forbidden to have intercourse with a female captive if [the master] does not own her exclusively. One who owns [a captive] in partnership [with others] may not have sexual intercourse with her until the other [owners] sell or give him [their share]."
"Question 9: If the female captive was impregnated by her owner, can he then sell her?
"He can't sell her if she becomes the mother of a child..."
"Question 10: If a man dies, what is the law regarding the female captive he owned?
"Female captives are distributed as part of his estate, just as all [other parts] of his estate [are distributed]. However, they may only provide services, not intercourse, if a father or [one of the] sons has already had intercourse with them, or if several [people] inherit them in partnership."
"Question 11: May a man have intercourse with the female slave of his wife?
"A man may not have intercourse with the female slave of his wife, because [the slave] is owned by someone else."

"A female slave is allowed to expose her head, neck, hands, and feet in front of foreign men if fitna [enticement] can be avoided. However, if fitna is present, or of there is fear that it will occur, then it [i.e. exposing these body parts becomes] forbidden."
"Question 16: Can two sisters be taken together while taking slaves?
"It is permissible to have two sisters, a female slave and her aunt [her father's sister], or a female slave and her aunt [from her mother's side]. But they cannot be together during intercourse, [and] whoever has intercourse with one of them cannot have intercourse with the other, due to the general [consensus] over the prohibition of this."
"Question 17: What is al-'azl?
"Al-'azl is refraining from ejaculating on a woman's pudendum [i.e. coitus interruptus]."
"Question 18: May a man use the al-'azl [technique] with his female slave?
"A man is allowed [to use] al-'azl during intercourse with his female slave with or without her consent."
"Question 19: Is it permissible to beat a female slave?
"It is permissible to beat the female slave as a [form of] darb ta'deeb [disciplinary beating], [but] it is forbidden to [use] darb al-takseer [literally, breaking beating], [darb] al-tashaffi [beating for the purpose of achieving gratification], or [darb] al-ta'dheeb [torture beating]. Further, it is forbidden to hit the face."
Question 20: What is the ruling regarding a female slave who runs away from her master?
"A male or female slave's running away [from their master] is among the gravest of sins…"
"Question 21: What is the earthly punishment of a female slave who runs away from her master?
"She [i.e. the female slave who runs away from her master] has no punishment according to the shari'a of Allah; however, she is [to be] reprimanded [in such a way that] deters others like her from escaping."
"Question 22: Is it permissible to marry a Muslim [slave] or a kitabiyya [i.e. Jewish or Christian] female slave?
"It is impermissible for a free [man] to marry Muslim or kitabiyat female slaves, except for those [men] who feared to [commit] a sin, that is, the sin of fornication…"
"Question 24: If a man marries a female slave who is owned by someone else, who is allowed to have intercourse with her?
"A master is prohibited from having intercourse with his female slave who is married to someone else; instead, the master receives her service, [while] the husband [gets to] enjoy her [sexually]."

The vast majority of their victims are women and children from the Yazidi region who were kidnapped during the Mount Sinjar massacre in August of this year. Up to 5,000 are being held in the de facto capital, Raqqa.

Even children are not safe from rape at the hands of the militants, with guidance on intercourse with a pre pubescent child stating it is acceptable, “if she is fit for intercourse”. If she is not, then her captor must make do with forcing other sex acts on the girl.

It says that slave women, known as al-Sabi, can be taken from any group of people with whom Isil militants consider themselves at war and makes a detailed case for why Christians and Jews are permissible as slaves but ex-Muslims are not allowed to be captured.
The rape of a female captive, the document explains, is perfectly acceptable even for married men and in one paragraph the document even says that virgins can be raped immediately after their ‘owners’ purchase then.
For those who are not virgins, their uterus must be “purified” first and it even says that it is legal to have sex with a child, providing she is “fit for intercourse”.
