German EU commissioner warns Turkey it can forget EU membership while Erdogan in power.

German EU commissioner warns Turkey it can forget EU membership while Erdogan in power. (DM).

Germany's European Commissioner said on Tuesday that Turkey would probably not join the European Union while Tayyip Erdogan was president.

Turkey began talks about joining the European Union in 2005 but has made little progress. The prospect of the mainly Muslim country becoming an EU member worries many countries and relations have become more strained since a failed coup in July.

'It will probably be an issue for the period after Erdogan,' Guenther Oettinger said in an interview with the Bild newspaper.

On Sunday German Vice Chancellor Sigmar Gabriel said on Sunday he did not see Turkey joining the EU during his own political career, noting that the bloc would not be in a position to accept Turkey even if Ankara met all the entry requirements tomorrow. Hmmm.......Finally they got it. Read the full story here.

AKP Using Jihadi 'mercenary' Fighters Against Kurds in Turkey?

Is the AKP Using Jihadi Fighters Against Kurds in Turkey? (KurdishQuestion).

A village guard has claimed the presence of a “special team made up of soldiers who speak poor Turkish,” fighting Kurdish militias in Hakkari’s Yüksekova (Gever) district.

As the siege of Kurdish district Yüksekova continues for the 37th day and clashes intensify between Turkish military and police special teams and Civilian Protection Unit (YPS) fighters, claims continue surfacing that ‘Daesh-looking’ individuals with long hair and beards are fighting in the ranks of the Turkish army.

“They speak broken Turkish”

The most recent claim has come from a leading village guard employed by the state in Yüksekova, who has said, “A special team is being used in operations. I saw them a few times in the military barracks. They refrained from speaking too much in our presence but when they did speak they spoke broken Turkish.’

They are wearing Gendarmerie Special Forces (JÖH) uniforms

Wanting to remain anonymous the village guard said, “They could be foreigners, or Turks from the Caucuses. They might be contra-forces, I can’t say for sure. But they are wearing Gendarmerie Special Forces uniforms."

They were used as a ‘frontal force’

Stating that this “special team” was used as a “frontal force” in the Orman, Eski Kışla, Cumhuriyet and Güngör neighbourhoods when the most fierce clashes took place, the village guard added, “This team was sent to fight at the front and this is why they are not revealing the number of dead. I don’t know the exact number but it is much higher than the number that has been disclosed. Some of them could be from orphanages. Let me also tell you this, the Police Special Forces (PÖH) generally disclose their losses but the JÖH don’t. This is why the hospital is in that state.”

Hospital blockaded

Responding to the question, “How many deaths are being hidden?” the village guard responded, “I can’t tell you a number. They are not letting anyone near that area of the hospital. If you don’t believe me you can try and access that area, no one is being allowed near it. We know they have more than 200 wounded, sometimes they mention it.”

Clashes between the YPS fighters and Turkish state forces are ongoing in the districts Yüksekova and Nusaybin where hundreds of deaths are being reported on both sides. Hmmm.......'Turkmen mercenaries?

French Families minister Laurence Rossignol: Hijabis like 'negroes who supported slavery'.

French Families minister Laurence Rossignol: Hijabis like 'negroes who supported slavery'. (AlAraby).

A French government minister on Wednesday compared women who wear the hijab to "negroes who supported slavery".

Families minister Laurence Rossignol, sparked outrage on social media with her comment that came after former fashion mogul Pierre Berge lashed out at designers creating Islamic clothing and headscarves, accusing them of taking part in the "enslavement of women".

Berge, the partner of the late fashion legend Yves Saint Laurent, took aim at the wave of big fashion chains that have followed the Italian designers Dolce & Gabbana in catering specifically to the Muslim market.

Rosssignol, who is also responsible for women's rights, maintained she was referring to an abolitionist tract by the French philosopher Montesquieu, "On the Enslavement of Negroes", when she made her controversial comments to BFMTV and RMC radio.

The minister admitted later to AFP that she had made "an error of language" by using the n-word. "But other than that... I don't take back a word," the socialist minister said.

While France - home of Europe's biggest Muslim population - bans face-covering veils, some of its big fashion houses were among the first to tentatively embrace Muslim-specific style.

DKNY, owned by French giant LVMH, pioneered the "modest clothing" trend with a "capsule collection" aimed at the Middle East for the Muslim holy month of Ramadan two years ago.

In January, Dolce & Gabbana became the first major western brand to directly aim at capturing a corner of the Islamic fashion market - estimated to be worth $260 billion (230 billion euros) - with its Abaya range. Read the full story here.

413 women killed across Turkey since start of 2015.

413 women killed across Turkey since start of 2015. (HD).

“One in three women is subjected to violence” the statement underlined.

Some 413 murders of women were reported by the Turkish media in 2015, the Umut (Hope) Foundation has stated in a new report, underlining that the trend has been increasing since the beginning of 2016.

The foundation called on Feb. 16 for NGOs to conduct comprehensive studies on the issue, which it described as a “mass murder of women.”

It said the death toll ranged from women older than 85 to a six-week-old fetus.

Of the 413 killings, 309 were a result of armed attacks, and 40 women have been killed since the beginning of January 2016 alone.

Most young women were killed because they requested a divorce or separation from their partners, the foundation noted, adding that many cases involved victims of “shady suicides,” mostly in southeastern provinces.

In addition, data shows that 55 husbands committed suicide after killing their wives from the beginning of January 2015. Hmmm......Just keep Turkey and their 'values' out of Europe. Read the full story here.

Video - German newspaper shows reaction to Jewish visitor in migrant center in Berlin.

German newspaper posts video showing reaction to Jewish visitor to migrant center in Berlin.

Germany - The German Die Welt newspaper published “an experiment” where an Israeli Orthodox Jew did just that.

Everyday Antisemitism website reports:

The man, who has experienced several antisemitic attacks within the last six months in Germany, encountered varying reactions within the center. While some expressed a wish for peace in Europe and empathy with Jews as another minority group, others were more hateful. One woman turned away in disgust on hearing he was Israeli. A boy said that all Jews should leave the Middle-East. The Jewish man also told the Jerusalem Post that he heard a group of men whispering “Jew” on seeing him but, when he confronted them, they assured him that he was mistaken.
There were also several instances of prominent, antisemitic graffiti found on the walls of the center: a swastika, a Star of David with the number 666 written below it, and an image of Israel entirely covered in the Palestinian Authority flag. Hmmm.....Refugees bring with them their Antisemitism and values. Read the full story here.

Turkey’s Directorate of Religious Affairs denies responsibility in controversial fatwa on father’s lust for daughter.

Turkey’s Directorate of Religious Affairs denies responsibility in controversial fatwa on father’s lust for daughter. (Hu).

The Directorate of Religious Affairs (Diyanet) has vehemently defended itself after public uproar greeted its response to a question on whether “a father’s lust for his daughter would affect his marriage,” saying its answer was deliberately “distorted.”

In an official statement to the press, the Diyanet said its response was distorted through “tricks, wiliness and wordplay” aiming to discredit the institution, adding that it would take legal action against news reports of the response.

The reply had briefly appeared on the “fatwa” section of the Diyanet website, where readers’ questions are answered.

One anonymous user asked whether a father having sexual desire for his daughter would result in the cancellation of his marriage from a religious perspective.

The Diyanet posted an answer stating that there is a difference of opinion on the matter among Islam’s different schools of thought.

“For some, a father kissing his daughter with lust or caressing her with desire has no effect on the man’s marriage,” the answer said, referencing various religious sources.

The Diyanet cited the Hanafi school of Islamic jurisprudence as an exception, as it sees the daughter’s mother as “haram” (Arabic for “forbidden”) to such a man.

“Moreover, the girl would be over nine years of age,” it also said.

The scandalous “fatwa” created a social media storm, as scores of users appealed to the Telecommunications Presidency’s Internet Hotline accusing Turkey’s top religious body of “encouraging child abuse.”

The Diyanet subsequently removed the answer from its website and posted a warning, saying the page in question was “under repair.” Hmmmm.....EU Values? Please keep Islamist Turkey out of Europe. More on this story here.

EU Values 101 - Turkish workshop employs Syrian minors to produce fake life jackets for refugees.

EU Values 101 - Turkish workshop employs Syrian refugee minors to produce fake life jackets for refugees. (TZ).

İzmir police on Tuesday raided an underground manufacturer in the Konak district and seized a total of 1,263 fake life jackets that were produced with low-quality materials. Two young Syrian underage girls were found among the four employees working .

Employing Syrians has become commonplace in Turkey in the recent past as the growing population of refugees in the country provide a low-cost labor force for businesses.
Even though the government previously declared an intention to issue work permits for Syrians, they are now mostly employed illegally and paid less than Turkish citizens for identical positions.
The life jackets seized in the raid included counterfeits of renowned brands padded with insulating materials, suitcase fabric and low-quality sponges used to make the life jackets look thick and safe.

The raid came on the same day that Turkish authorities found the bodies of 34 migrants, at least three of whom were children, washed up on the coast of İzmir and Balıkesir provinces after they had apparently drowned while trying to cross to the Greek island of Lesbos.

The International Organization for Migration (IOM) puts the number of migrants who have died while trying to cross the Mediterranean Sea to Europe in 2015 at 3,771. Experts argue that fake life jackets selling at low prices are the primary reason for the high number of deaths at sea. Hmmmm......When will the EU take measures against these Turkish 'slavery' practices,  refugee exploitation and unfair economic practices? Yes it's easier to label Jewish products but one law for All!

“When I Picture My Future, I See Nothing” - 400,000 Syrian children in Turkey not in school, HRW report says.

“When I Picture My Future, I See Nothing” - 400,000 Syrian children in Turkey not in school, HRW report says. (HD).

More than 400,000 Syrian refugee children in Turkey are unable to attend school despite a Turkish government move allowing them access to the Turkish schooling system, Human Rights Watch (HRW) said in a report.

The U.S.-based rights group cited language barriers, integration issues and financial difficulties as reasons for the poor attendance in a report released Nov. 9 on its website.

As of October 2015, there were approximately 708,000 Syrian refugee children aged 5 to 17 in Turkey, said the 62-page report titled “‘When I Picture My Future, I See Nothing’: Barriers to Education for Syrian Refugee Children in Turkey.”

In 2014-2015, just over 212,000 were enrolled in formal education at the primary and secondary levels, based on Education Ministry data.

The Turkish Education Ministry said it aims to have 270,000 Syrian children in school by January 2016 and 370,000 in school by the end of the 2015-2016 school year, said the report, while citing the number 400,000 as the number out of the education system.

The report said enrollment rates are higher in education centers built in camps near the Syrian border. But a majority of school-aged children are living in cities outside the camps and are forced to work instead of attending school due to economic or language barriers.

Financial hardship was a major obstacle preventing Syrian children from going to class in Turkey, HRW said, with refugees not permitted to work legally and often unable to afford any school fees or transport charges.

Some 32 out of 50 households interviewed cited economic circumstances as a major barrier to both Turkish schools and temporary education centers.

“Parents are often unable to provide for their families on the minimal income they make in the informal labor market and as a result, child labor is rampant among the Syrian refugee population,” HRW said.

Many were also unable to attend school because of the language barrier, while others faced bullying and social integration difficulties. In some cases, they were even turned away, HRW said. Hmmmm.......Syria's Children the 'Dragon Teeth' Read the full report here.

Thank God for Canada ! Canada isolates itself by anti-Iran stance - Iran's foreign ministry.

Thank God for Canada ! Canada isolates itself by anti-Iran stance - Iran's foreign ministry. (Taz).

Iran's foreign ministry has argued that the Canadian administration is isolating itself by following Israel’s anti-Iran stance.

The Canada ’s conservative government, in compliance with the Israel’s positions is rapidly moving towards self-imposed isolation in the international community, even among its traditional allies, Marzieh Afkham , Iran ’s foreign ministry spokeswoman said, the ministry’s website reported.

Following the last week nuclear deal between Iran and the P5+1(US, Russia, China, France, UK, and Germany), Canadian Foreign Minister Rob Nicholson said Iran continues to be a significant threat to international peace and security owing to its nuclear ambitions, its continuing support for terrorism, its repeated calls for the destruction of Israel, and its disregard for basic human rights. “We will continue to judge Iran by its actions, not words,” he underlined.

Reacting to the statement, Afkham said that if the Canadian government is concerned about the international peace and security it should respect rationality and logic. “The continuation of the radical stances by the Canadian officials on Iran indicates that the Canadian government's approach towards Iran lacks any logical and rational basis.”

Canada has expressed concerns over “human rights violation” in Iran and the “Islamic Republic’s threat to global peace" in various occasions.

The country cut diplomatic ties with Tehran in 2012. Canadian then foreign minister, John Baird cited Iran's support for Syrian president Bashar al-Assad, its disputed nuclear program and continued human rights violations as reasons behind his country's decision to sever diplomatic ties with Tehran. Hmmm....I'll take PM Harper a mensch anytime over any spineless Liberal appeaser.

Obama's BFF Iran’s ‘staggering’ execution spree - nearly 700 put to death in just over six months.

Amnesty: Obama's BFF Iran’s ‘staggering’ execution spree - nearly 700 put to death in just over six months. (NCRI).

The Iranian authorities are believed to have executed an astonishing 694 people between 1 January and 15 July 2015, said Amnesty International today, in an unprecedented spike in executions in the country.

"This is equivalent to executing more than three people per day. At this shocking pace, Iran is set to surpass the total number of executions in the country recorded by Amnesty International for the whole of last year," the international human rights group said.

“Iran’s staggering execution toll for the first half of this year paints a sinister picture of the machinery of the state carrying out premeditated, judicially-sanctioned killings on a mass scale,” said Said Boumedouha, Deputy Director of Amnesty International’s Middle East and North Africa Programme.
“If Iran’s authorities maintain this horrifying execution rate we are likely to see more than 1,000 state-sanctioned deaths by the year’s end.”
The announcement by Amnesty continued: "The surge in executions reveals just how out of step Iran is with the rest of the world when it comes to the use of the death penalty - 140 countries worldwide have now rejected its use in law or practice. Already this year three more countries have repealed the death penalty completely."
"Executions in Iran did not even stop during the holy month of Ramadan. In a departure from established practice, at least four people were executed over the past month."
"While Amnesty International opposes the use of the death penalty unconditionally and in all cases, death sentences in Iran are particularly disturbing because they are invariably imposed by courts that are completely lacking in independence and impartiality. They are imposed either for vaguely worded or overly broad offences, or acts that should not be criminalized at all, let alone attract the death penalty.

Trials in Iran are deeply flawed, detainees are often denied access to lawyers in the investigative stage, and there are inadequate procedures for appeal, pardon and commutation."
Said Boumedouha said: “The Iranian authorities should be ashamed of executing hundreds of people with complete disregard for the basic safeguards of due process,”.

“The use of the death penalty is always abhorrent, but it raises additional concerns in a country like Iran where trials are blatantly unfair.”

“For years, Iranian authorities have used the death penalty to spread a climate of fear in a misguided effort to combat drug trafficking, yet there is not a shred of evidence to show that this is an effective method of tackling crime,” said Said Boumedouha.

Many of those convicted of drug-related offences come from disadvantaged backgrounds. Their cases are rarely publicized. In a letter circulated online in June, 54 prisoners held on death row in Ghezel Hesar prison near Tehran described their plight:

“We are the victims of a state of hunger, poverty and misery, hurled down into the hollows of perdition by force and without our will… If we had jobs, if we did not need help, if we could turn our lives around and stop our children from going hungry, why should we have gone down a path that guaranteed us our death?”

Amnesty International continued: "Among those executed in Iran are also members of ethnic and religious minorities convicted of 'enmity against God' and 'corruption on earth' including Kurdish political prisoners and Sunni Muslims."

"Currently, based on monitoring work done by Amnesty International and other human rights organizations, several thousand people are believed to be on death row in Iran. The Iranian authorities have said that 80% of those awaiting execution are convicted of drug-related offences. They have not, however, provided an exact number."

“It is especially harrowing that there is no end in sight for this theatre of cruelty with Iran’s gallows awaiting thousands more death row prisoners,” said Said Boumedouha.

Prisoners in Iran are often left languishing on death row, wondering each day if it will be their last, the human rights group said. "In many cases they are notified of their execution only a few hours beforehand and in some cases, families learn about the fate of their loved ones days, if not weeks, later."

"Each year the Iranian authorities acknowledge a certain number of judicial executions. However, many more judicial executions are carried out but not acknowledged."

"As of 15 July 2015, the Iranian authorities had officially acknowledged 246 executions this year but Amnesty International has received credible reports of a further 448 executions carried out in this time period. In 2014, 289 people were executed according to official sources but credible reports suggested that the real figure was at least 743."Hmmmm....Just imagine what they will do to the ones they really hate, once they get hold of nuclear weapons.

EU slated to adopt a policy favored by neo-Nazis in Germany: Labelling of Israeli products

'Don't Buy At Jews!'

EU slated to adopt a policy favored by neo-Nazis in Germany: Labelling of Israeli products.(JPost).

The European Union agreed this week to push ahead with labeling Israeli goods made in settlements in the West Bank, a move that has alarmed the Israeli government; but now there are proposals to go much further, including targeting Israeli banks.

In a paper to be published on Wednesday, the European Council on Foreign Relations, whose proposals frequently inform EU policy-making, argues that the EU is in breach of its own laws and must move much more firmly to distinguish its dealings with Israel from Israel's activities in the West Bank and east Jerusalem.

European diplomats have long said that labeling is only the first in a series of steps the EU could take against Israel over its settlements policy, one that in financial terms is expected to have a relatively minor impact on the Israeli economy.

But the new proposals would go much deeper and further, reaching into banking, loans and mortgages, qualifications earned in settlement institutions and the tax-exempt status of European charities that deal with Israeli settlements.

"Under its own regulations and principles, Europe cannot legally escape from its duty to differentiate between Israel and its activities in the... Palestinian territories," says the report, titled 'EU Differentiation and Israeli Settlements'.

The authors argue that by pushing much further to separate the EU's dealings with Israel from the settlements, it will force Israel to decide what sort of relationship it wants with Europe and in turn encourage it to return to talks with the Palestinians on a two-state solution to the conflict.

ISRAELI REACTION:

Foreign Ministry spokesman Alov Lavi stressed that the proposals are coming from a European think tank, and not from the European Union.

“We have no intention to respond to a research paper from one research institute or another,” Lavi said.

If labeling Jewish goods sounds darkly reminiscent, it does as well to Germany’s neo-Nazi groups, who have recently co-opted the country’s BDS movement.

But the neo-Nazis shouldn’t get all the attention — labeling goods from East Jerusalem is a brazen act of economic warfare from Europe, and one that violates the principles of the very peace process Europe claims to promote.

The 1993 Oslo Accords between Israel and the Palestinians said merely that Jerusalem is a subject for final-status negotiations, not a “settlement.”

The European Union itself defines Jerusalem as a corpus separatum — a “separate body” whose status is subject to negotiation — rather than occupied territory.

More broadly, the drive to label Israeli merchandise has allowed Germany’s resurgent far-right to push its way to the front of the anti-Israel movement. Hmmmm.....It was never about Land, this is pure antisimitism. Read the full story here.

Henry Kissinger’s recent statement, that in 10 years Israel will cease to exist, borders on senile. Although one of his staff members denied it, Cindy Adams from New York Post insisted: “Reported to me, Henry Kissinger has stated — and I quote the statement word for word: ‘In 10 years, there will be no more Israel.’ ”....Hmmm....We're working on it.

Iran parliament Speaker: Iran, EU[Rabia] to Benefit from Economic Cooperation.

Iran parliament Speaker: Iran, EU[Rabia] to Benefit from Economic Cooperation. (Fars).

Iranian Parliament Speaker Ali Larijani in a meeting with Chairman of the European Parliament's Committee on Foreign Affairs Elmar Brok in Tehran on Saturday called for further cooperation between Iran and the European countries.

"Iran-Europe economic cooperation serves the interests of both sides and consultations and talks between the Iranian and European parliamentarians can facilitate trade and economic exchanges… ," Larijani said.

He, meantime, pointed to the ongoing nuclear talks between Iran and the six world powers, and said, "We can strike a final agreement by adopting a logical outlook, avoiding excessive demands and new issues when drafting the text."

Brok, for his part, underlined the willingness of the European countries and businessmen to broaden their cooperation with Iran, and said, "Given the economic power and vast capacities of the Islamic Republic of Iran, there are many suitable grounds for strengthening mutual trade cooperation and European countries need trade with Iran in a bid to increase their trade corridors."

He also pointed to Iran-G5+1 nuclear talks, and said, "I hope that the two sides strike a final deal before the (July 1) deadline in order to see a boost in the level of friendly relations through the removal of the sanctions (imposed against Iran)."

A European Parliament delegation is in Iran on an official two-day visit to hold talks with the country’s authorities.

The eight-strong delegation, headed by Chairman of the European Parliament’s Committee on Foreign Affairs, arrived in Tehran early Saturday.

In March, the European Commission's statistical office, Eurostat, reported that Iran's exports to the EU member states grew by 48% in 2014 compared to a year earlier.

Iran's exports to the EU member states rose from about €780 million ($842 million) in 2013, to over €1.16 billion ($1.25 billion) in 2014, showing a 48 percent growth.

Meanwhile, Iranian imports from the EU countries in 2014 rose only by 18% compared to 2013, and reached over €6.40 billion ($6.91 billion).

Iran and the EU states recorded over €7.56 billion (US$8.16 billion) in trade turnover in 2014, showing an increase by 21% compared to 2013.

The report also cited Germany, Italy, France, the Netherlands, Spain, Belgium, Lithuania, Sweden, Austria and England as Iran’s major trade partners in 2014, in descending order.

Germany, Italy, France and Belgium were the biggest exporters respectively, while Italy, Germany, Spain, Belgium and Netherlands were the main importers of Iranian goods and services.Hmmm....Sorry Iranian 'resistance' but cheap Gas and Oil is more important than human rights in Eurabia.
