'Advanced Islamist Democracy' Turkey threatens Google with ban over hostage image.
'Advanced Islamist Democracy' Turkey threatens Google with ban over hostage image. (BBC).
Turkey threatened to ban Google unless it removed links to images of a prosecutor being held at gunpoint.
The images were taken last week in a siege at an Istanbul courthouse when two gunmen took the prosecutor hostage. All three died during a rescue attempt. The threatened ban on Google was lifted after the search giant removed links to sites hosting the pictures. Turkish authorities briefly cut off several social networks in a bid to stop images circulating.
This is about the freedom of information.
If Google caves in now for the demands of the 'Turkish 'Dictator', you can expect him to throw a fit each time something displeases him on Google.
Appeasement doesn't work with Dictators...especially Islamist ones, next it will be 'blasphmy speech', The 'Armenian Genocide.....or whatever he will come up with to silence the opposition.
Google has a duty to defend the freedom of information....or step out of the business as search engine. Read the full story here.
Update: US urges Turkey to unblock access to social media sites.
State Department spokesperson Marie Harf told Today's Zaman on Monday that her country supports freedom of expression in Turkey and opposes any action that encroaches on the right to free speech.
Google said it is working to restore access. "An independent and unfettered media is an essential element of democratic, open societies," Harf said after the social media bans became known.

'Free Speech Police' - US Government Develops System To Automatically Detect Cyberbullying.
'Free Speech Police' - US Government Develops System To Automatically Detect Cyberbullying. (SP).
A grant of around $120,000 was granted to Rutgers University by the National Science Foundation to create a system that automatically detects hurtful online speech.
“This project aims to define new approaches for automatic detection of cyberbullying by integrating the relevant research in social sciences and computer science,” the grant reads.
According to the NSF, cyberbullying has become a “critical social problem, with over 40% of teenagers in the US having reported being cyberbullied,” leading many to psychiatric and psychosomatic disorders.
The idea is that the system will to search for keywords as well as study the social relationships between teenagers who send and receive mean messages.
The program also aims at “employing social intervention mechanisms” that help prevent future cyberbullying activities.
Data on cyberbullying will also “be made available to the larger research community,” according to the grant. The project will start in July and is set to last for two years, with the goal of improving cyberbullying detectors.
“The project will yield new, comprehensive models and algorithms that can be used for cyberbullying detection in automated settings.” Assistant Professor Vivek K. Singh of Rutgers’ School of Communication and Information, who has done research on Twitter hashtags, will be leading the project.
The Obama administration has made tackling cyberbullying a priority, and so has the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), which runs a website to stop cyberbullying that encourages reporting mean online behavior to the police. Hmmmm......Why do i have the distinct feeling this is about limiting free speech, political and Religious speech and not so much about cyber bullying?

Video - We Will Not Go Quietly in to The Night! Entire Audience at NJ Gun Hearing Disobeys Senators Orders, Recites Pledge of allegiance.
If you’ve seen the video we posted earlier today, then you definitely want to check this one out. There was some question that when Second Amendment activist, James Kaleda, was removed from the hearing if the audience was clapping for him or for his removal. I think this video, which took place immediately following that, should clear things up.
After a Second Amendment activist was forcefully removed from a hearing on upcoming gun legislation in NJ, the audience wasn’t too happy.
Several members of the audience yelled at the state senator in charge from the audience, several called him out of order, and at least one more was escorted from the room.
Then in one of the best displays of civil disobedience I’ve ever seen, the entire audience recited the pledge of allegiance, while most of the lawmakers remained seated.
This is one to share.

NDAA: The Most Important Lawsuit in American History that the Obama MSM is keeping silent about.
NDAA: The Most Important Lawsuit in American History that the Obama MSM is keeping silent about.(Liberty Blitzkrieg).Despite a mainstream media blackout on the topic, the alternative media is abuzz with this week’s hearing on the constitutionality of the clearly unconstitutional NDAA. In case you don’t remember, section 1021 of the NDAA, which Obama signed into law on December 31 of last year, allows the government to lock up U.S. citizens indefinitely without a trial. At the time of signing, Obama penned a pathetic letter to many of his outraged supporters where he basically said he signed it but he won’t use it. Thanks pal!
In any event, the Administration is showing its true colors by appealing an injunction that judge Katherine Forrest issued against it in May. The injunction was in response to the lawsuit filed by Pulitzer Prize winning journalist Chris Hedges and others. While the NDAA clearly vaporizes the 5th and 6th Amendments of the Constitution, I believe the real target is the 1st Amendment. By having a law on the books that allows the government to arbitrarily lock anyone up and throw away the key, the government is actually trying to instill enough fear in people that they self-censor speech and become too afraid to criticize the criminal elite political and economic oligarchy.
Tangerine Bolen is one the lead plaintiffs in the suit against the government and she penned a powerful piece for the UK’s Guardian. Here are some key quotes:
I am one of the lead plaintiffs in the civil lawsuit against the National Defense Authorization Act, which gives the president the power to hold any US citizen anywhere for as long as he wants, without charge or trial.
In a May hearing, Judge Katherine Forrest issued an injunction against it; this week, in a final hearing in New York City, US government lawyers asserted even more extreme powers – the right to disregard entirely the judge and the law. On Monday 6 August, Obama’s lawyers filed an appeal to the injunction – a profoundly important development that, as of this writing, has been scarcely reported.
Judge Forrest had ruled for a temporary injunction against an unconstitutional provision in this law, after government attorneys refused to provide assurances to the court that plaintiffs and others would not be indefinitely detained for engaging in first amendment activities. At that time, twice the government has refused to define what it means to be an “associated force”, and it claimed the right to refrain from offering any clear definition of this term, or clear boundaries of power under this law.
This past week’s hearing was even more terrifying. Government attorneys again, in this hearing, presented no evidence to support their position and brought forth no witnesses. Most incredibly, Obama’s attorneys refused to assure the court, when questioned, that the NDAA’s section 1021 – the provision that permits reporters and others who have not committed crimes to be detained without trial – has not been applied by the US government anywhere in the world after Judge Forrest’s injunction.I Would also take the time to watch this short video from one of the co-counsels on the case as to exactly what the government is arguing in court. Not a word from the mainstream media on the most important court case in American history. One that will decide the fate of a law that will effectively dismantle at least a third of The Bill of Rights.Read the full story here.

Hurrah! It’s Everybody Blog About #BrettKimberlin Day.
Hurrah! It’s Everybody Blog About #BrettKimberlin Day.(BookwormRoom).Brett Kimberlin is not a nice person. Indeed, he’s a singularly un-nice person and one who, sadly, has a huge war chest. I’ll let Robert Stacy McCain explain:
Kimberlin was convicted of multiple federal felonies in 1981 and sentenced to 50 years in prison after he terrorized a small Indiana town in a brutal crime weeklong bombing spree. Law enforcement officials told the Indianapolis Star they believed the bombings were committed in an attempt to distract authorities investigating the 1978 murder of a 65-year-old grandmother, a crime in which Kimberlin was a suspect. In far-Leftist land, though, being an unrepentant criminal convicted of violent crimes just isn’t that big a deal. As McCain explains, Kimberlin is “employed as the director of a 501(c)3 non-profit that has collected $1.8 million in contributions since 2005.” Indeed, Kimberlin has a lot of interesting contacts:
In recent months, Kimberlin has used a strategy of legal intimidation and workplace harassment in an apparent attempt to silence his critics, including blogger Seth Allen, Virginia attorney Aaron Walker and Los Angeles deputy district attorney Patrick Frey.
[snip]
Convicted of drug smuggling and forging documents as well as numerous violent felonies, Kimberlin claims to have ceased his lifelong criminal career after being released from federal prison in 2000. Yet his habitual dishonesty – Kimberlin was first convicted of perjury at age 18 – appears unchanged. As recently as 2007, Time magazine reported that Kimberlin was gaining notoriety on progressive blog sites by “repeatedly asserting as fact things that are not true.” According to Walker, Kimberlin falsely accused him of assault after a courthouse encounter in which Kimberlin attempted to photograph Walker in violation of court policy. Walker says Maryland officials have refused to investigate his complaints of criminal actions by Kimberlin, and has asked his blog readers to contact those officials to demand action:
Attorney for Montgomery County
50 Maryland Avenue, 5th Floor
Rockville, Maryland 20850 states.attorney@montgomerycountymd.gov. 240-777-7300
Kimberlin is a known associate of Neal Rauhauser, a Democrat campaign consultant who has described himself as a computer “hacker.” Kimberlin, director of the tax-exempt Justice Through Music Project, is also involved in another tax-exempt group, Velvet Revolution, which has gained national attention by demanding criminal prosecution of high-profile figures including Republican strategist Karl Rove, U.S. Chamber of Commerce president Tom Donohue, and the late Internet news entrepreneur Andrew Breitbart. For many people, that would be a lifetime and a half of criminal behavior and sleazy associations. For Kimberlin, it’s just the tip of the iceberg. He’s lately embarked upon a full-time career of harassing, both legally and illegally, those conservatives writers who have had the temerity to repeat the verified facts about his unsavory life. Michelle Malkin explains:
Over the past year, Aaron Walker (who blogged as “Aaron Worthing”), Patterico, Liberty Chick, and now Stacy McCain have been targeted by convicted Speedway bomber Brett Kimberlin because they dared to mention his criminal past or assisted others who did. The late Andrew Breitbart warned about Kimberlin and company. When faced with this situation — a criminally vindictive vexatious litigant with a violent history, a full purse, and a legal system that refuses to act — there’s only one thing to do: make it practically and financially impossible for the bad guy to continue his damaging ways. If Kimberlin wants to go after bloggers, we’ll give him bloggers . . . hundreds of bloggers. Good luck to him trying to turn his efforts and energies, as well as his friends’ deep pockets, to the task of silencing every one of the individuals willing to re-print his record of lawlessness, imprisonment, harassment, and abuse of the civil justice system.
[snip]
This is a convoluted, ongoing nightmare that combines abuse of the court system, workplace intimidation, serial invasions of privacy, perjury, and harassment of family members. McCain was forced to move with his family out of his house this week, and has just gotten a small taste of what Aaron and Patterico have been enduring over the past year. Aaron and his wife were fired from their jobs after their employer feared the office would be targeted next. Convicted bomber Kimberlin has filed bogus “peace orders” against Aaron, when it is the Walkers who are the victims, not the perpetrators.
And Patterico’s plight will send chills up your spine when he is ready to tell it.
Institutional inertia, incompetence, and apathy among law enforcement officials on both coasts have exacerbated the victims’ suffering. It has moved far beyond a partisan or political story to a bottomless, Kafka-esque morass. And, via investigative journalist Matthew Vadum, it certainly doesn’t help that “progressive,” left-wing foundations that have funded Kimberlin continue to look the other way.
Welcome to the Blogburst of all Blogbursts! If you haven’t joined in the May 25, 2012 “Everybody Blog About Brett Kimberlin” party, what are you waiting for?
