Breaking - Egypt declares Muslim Brotherhood 'terrorist group'

Breaking - Egypt declares Muslim Brotherhood 'terrorist group'. AlJazeera.
Egypt Interim government has designated the Muslim Brotherhood as a 'terrorist organisation'. The move comes a day after the bombing of a police station that killed 14 people.
The announcement against the Brotherhood was made on state TV on Wednesday despite Ansar Beit al-Makdis, an armed group active in the Sinai peninsula, claiming responsibility for the bombing.
"There's been mounting pressure on the government to take this step." Al Jazeera's Peter Greste said from the Egyptian capital, Cairo.
The interim government has also banned hundreds of NGOs affiliated with the group.

Speaking on state TV Ahmed el-Borai, minister of social solidarity whose ministry is responsible for registering NGOs said the government has notified the Arab League of their decision to ban NGOs, and anyone involved with the Brotherhood's activities will face the "legally prescribed penalties."

Al-Borai said Egypt doesn't need a new counter-terrorism law to deal with the Brotherhood, that existing law is fine.
