The restrained reaction of the ruling political Islamist establishment in Turkey to the despicable killing of 12 people at French satirical magazine Charlie Hebdo and the provocative headlines in government-subsidized media effectively “justifying” the attack have exposed once again the chilling totalitarian mindset of believing twisted conspiracy theories that exists among Islamists who are biased and unable to reject cold-blooded murders unconditionally without any proviso.
On the morning of the day the killers attacked Charlie Hebdo, I was meeting with French Senator Nathalie Goulet, who was heading a delegation of parliamentarians investigating French jihadists who use Turkey as a transit route back and forth from Syria and Iraq. She was in Turkey and meeting with officials and touring border provinces. I told her the main problem is the lack of strong political will to come down hard on extremist groups in Turkey.
