De Nederlandse journaliste Frederike Geerdink is in Turkije opgepakt door een anti-terrorisme eenheid. Dat meldde zij dinsdagmiddag op Twitter. Ze wordt naar eigen zeggen verdacht van propaganda voor een terroristische organisatie.
Koenders is op dit moment in Turkije Minister van Buitenlandse Zaken Bert Koenders is op dit moment in Turkije. Hij is daar op uitnodiging van zijn Turkse collega Mevlüt Cavusoglu. Koenders en Cavusoglu spraken elkaar eind november telefonisch over de rel die was ontstaan tussen Nederland en Turkije. Die volgde op een verklaring waarin de Turkse overheid Nederland ervan beschuldigde de Turkse gemeenschap in ons land te discrimineren en op een racistische manier te bejegenen. Koenders gaat in Turkije ook in gesprek met bewindslieden, mensenrechtenactivisten en journalisten. Die gesprekken gaan onder meer over rechtsstaatontwikkeling, persvrijheid en vrijheid van meningsuiting, aldus het ministerie van Buitenlandse Zaken.
De Nederlandse Vereniging van Journalisten is met de zaak bezig, meldt Algemeen Secretaris Thomas Bruning. Hmmm.....Going after a Dutch journalist just when the Dutch min of foreign affairs is in Turkey...Coincidence?
