Turkish Police who investigated AlQaeda and IS arrested and taken to nearby hospital for 'treatment'. (Bugun).
On Sunday a new wave of government-backed raids hit the police, this time in the eastern province of Van, detaining 19 officers on "illegal wiretapping and forgery," allegations which critics have slammed as a pretext the government has used to muzzle the police force.
Six of the officers were released, while the remaining 19 were arrested by the court in the eastern Turkish province and taken to a nearby hospital for medical treatment. The former Van National Police Intelligence Chief and his team were among the 19 arrested by the Court of Criminal Peace, a judicial body which have been at the epicenter of government backed cases.
The attorney of the officers, Mehmet Reşat Bozkurt, expressed that a recusation had been turned down by the magistrate, acting out of its powers. Even though, according to the law, judges at the Criminal Courts of First Instances have the authority to analyze and issue a ruling, the magistrate has rejected the recuastion all the same.
Bozkurt also mocked the made-to-order nature of the entire legal saga, stating that the judge rushed through the case file consisting of five large binders within one hour before starting questioning the officers, “breaking a Turkish record in speed reading.” Hmmmm......For a second i thought we were back in the good old 'USSR', but it's only the 'Advanced Islamist Democracy' Turkey. I hope the EU Human right 'Champions' keep good track of the health of these brave men. What's next? Turkish version of the 'Gulag archipelago?
