"Advanced Islamist Democracy" - 'Any judge who rules against Ankara’s wishes will be arrested' (Bugun).

CHP lawmaker Mahmut Tanal slammed the decision to arrest judges Metin Özçelik and Mustafa Başer, “They attempted to compromise judicial independence in Hitler’s Germany as well. Even then they weren’t able to succeed.”
“This decision is an attempt to intimidate the entire judiciary. The administration will order the arrests of any judges or prosecutors who issue verdicts it doesn’t agree with,” said Tanal, adding that in 30 years of work as a lawyer he never once heard of a case where judges were arrested.
the two judges responsible for the ruling were first discharged from the profession and then ordered to be placed under arrest in moves backed by President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan. On Thursday Bakırköy’s 2nd High Criminal Court issued arrest warrants for Istanbul 29th Court of First Instance Judge Metin Özçelik and Istanbul 32nd Court of First Instance Judge Mustafa Başer, and by Friday both were put under arrest.
Özçelik was arrested hours after the warrant was issued, while Başer, who was not in Istanbul at the time and was accused of fleeing the authorities, headed back to the city to voluntarily turn himself in at the courthouse.
CHP deputy Tanal stressed that the judges were arrested entirely over their verdict, “If they had decided not to rule for the release, they wouldn’t be under arrest right now.” Hmmmm.....As during NAZI times Turkish Judges are supposed to pledge allegiance to the 'Supreme leader'.
