UK Study finds Muslim Brotherhood membership should be considered possible indicator of extremism.

UK review finds Muslim Brotherhood membership possible indicator of extremism.(ED).

A British government review into Egypt's outlawed Muslim Brotherhood published on Thursday has concluded that membership of or links to the political group should be considered a possible indicator of extremism.

"Parts of the Muslim Brotherhood have a highly ambiguous relationship with violent extremism. Both as an ideology and as a network it has been a rite of passage for some individuals and groups who have gone on to engage in violence and terrorism," Cameron said in a statement accompanying the report.

Although there would be no immediate ban on the group, Mr Cameron said the Government would keep it under review to see if it meets the legal test for proscription as a terrorist organisation.

In a written statement to MPs, Mr Cameron said: "The Muslim Brotherhood comprises both a transnational network, with links in the UK, and national organisations in and outside the Islamic world.

"The movement is deliberately opaque, and habitually secretive."

The Prime Minister said the Brotherhood characterizes Western societies and liberal Muslims as "decadent and immoral" and "it can be seen primarily as a political project".

But he continued: "Parts of the Muslim Brotherhood have a highly ambiguous relationship with violent extremism. Both as an ideology and as a network it has been a rite of passage for some individuals and groups who have gone on to engage in violence and terrorism. "

Although it has stated its opposition to al Qaida, it has "never credibly denounced" the terrorist group's use of the work of Sayyid Qutb, one of the Brotherhood's most important historic figures.

Mr Cameron added that "individuals closely associated with the Muslim Brotherhood in the UK have supported suicide bombing and other attacks in Israel by Hamas", an organisation whose military wing was banned in the UK in 2001.

He said: " Muslim Brotherhood-associated and influenced groups in the UK have at times had a significant influence on national organisations which have claimed to represent Muslim communities (and on that basis have had a dialogue with Government), charities and some mosques.

"But they have also sometimes characterised the UK as fundamentally hostile to Muslim faith and identity; and expressed support for terrorist attacks conducted by Hamas.

"Aspects of the Muslim Brotherhood's ideology and activities therefore run counter to British values of democracy, the rule of law, individual liberty, equality and the mutual respect and tolerance of different faiths and beliefs."

The Prime Minister said the review's findings " support the conclusion that membership of, association with, or influence by the Muslim Brotherhood should be considered as a possible indicator of extremism". Read the full story here.

Dakhil shared one particularly horrifying story, where IS fighters forced a starving mother to eat the meat of her own child, or at least told her so.

"One of the mothers calls me … she said 'for two days the ISIS doesn't give me any food' and they separated her children. One of them is 3 years and another is 5 years, after two days they give her rice with meat. After she's eating, she tell her this is your boy — 3 years," Dakhil said.

"She tells me please, I can't, I don't know what can I do — I'm eating my son. This is what happened with those woman under ISIS control and nobody cares."

Another mother was forced to watch her 9-year-old daughter being raped to death, Dakhil shared in a separate account.

Yazidis, Christians, and other minorities have suffered greatly under the rule of the self-proclaimed Islamic Caliphate, which has captured signification territory across Iraq and Syria.

Russian Website Calls For Volunteers For Russia's Military Activity In Syria.

Russian Website Calls For Volunteers For Russia's Military Activity In Syria. MEMRI.

A Russian website, Dobrovolec.org, has posted a call for volunteers to enlist for Russia's military activity in Syria.

Dobrovolec was founded in the winter of 2014, during the Crimean crisis, and at that time called for volunteers to enlist for military activity in Ukraine. It describes itself as non-profit "military volunteer movement" that is not affiliated with any political, religious or commercial organization.

Its "About Us" section states: "Our initiative was founded as a project to promote the organization of self-defense units during the events of the 'Russian Spring' in Crimea and eastern Ukraine... Our activity is not limited to the conflicts in Novorossiya–Ukraine; currently we are actively participating in organizing a volunteer movement in Syria…"

The website also states that it is not in the business of recruiting mercenaries, because this contravenes Russian law. However, in its call for volunteers to fight in Syria, it states that enlistment will be "contract-based."

"We hereby announce that we are enlisting volunteers to participate in special activities as part of the Russian mission aimed at stabilizing the situation in the [Middle East] region, protecting important facilities, and strengthening Russia's military-political presence in Syria in order to prevent the formation there of a pro-American or extremist religious regime that will threaten the entire civilized world.

It should be noted that Admiral Vladimir Komoyedov, head of the armed forces committee in Russia’s parliament, did not rule out that a Russian volunteer unit, including fighters who gained experience in Donbass (in eastern Ukraine), may join the Syrian government forces. Read the full story here.

Iran's defense Min. Rejects Russian Missile Crash

Iran's defense Min. Rejects Russian Missile Crash. (Fars).

The Iranian defense ministry rejected reports alleging that four of the 26 cruise missiles fired from Russia's Caspian fleet at ISIL targets in Syria have crash-landed in Iran, saying the reports are part of the West's "psychological warfare".

A source at the Iranian Defense Ministry told Sputnik that it has not received any report indicating the crash of the Russian missiles on Iranian territories, describing the allegations as "psychological war".

Russia's Defense Ministry also denied the US media reports of the alleged incident, stating that all missiles hit their designated targets.

"No matter how unpleasant and unexpected for our colleagues in the Pentagon and Langley was yesterday's high-precision strike on Islamic State (of Iraq and the Levant) infrastructure in Syria, the fact remains that all missiles launched from our ships have found their targets," ministry's spokesman Maj. Gen. Igor Konashenkov said.

Russian Defense Minister Sergey Shoigu announced on Wednesday that four Russian Navy warships had fired a total of 26 missiles at the positions of the ISIL terrorist group in Syria.

“Four missile ships in the Caspian Sea launched 26 cruise missiles at 11 targets. According to objective control data, all the targets were destroyed. No civilian objects sustained damage,” Shoigu said.

Earlier today, the CNN claimed that according to Pentagon officials, at least, four of the Russian cruise missiles have crash-landed in Iran.

The CNN report came after the Russian army announced that all the 26 missiles hit and completely destroyed their targets in the Syrian provinces of Raqqa, Idlib and Aleppo. Hmmm....the usual 'I say....he says' Read the full story here.

Russia has ground troop battalion,"considerable and growing" naval presence, advanced tanks in Syria: U.S. NATO envoy.

Russia has ground troop battalion,"considerable and growing" naval presence, advanced tanks in Syria: U.S. NATO envoy. (Reuters).

Russia's military build-up in Syria includes a "considerable and growing" naval presence, long-range rockets and a battalion of ground troops backed by Moscow's most modern tanks, the U.S. ambassador to NATO said on Wednesday.

Speaking on the eve of a NATO defense ministers meeting to be dominated by Russia's intervention in Syria's civil war, U.S. Ambassador to NATO Douglas Lute said Moscow had managed a "quite impressive" military deployment over the past week to its Syria naval base in Tartous and its army base in Latakia.

"There is a considerable and growing Russia naval presence in the eastern Mediterranean, more than 10 ships now, which is a bit out of the ordinary," he told a news briefing.

"The recent Russian reinforcements over the last week or so feature a battalion-size ground force ... There is artillery, there are long-range rocket capabilities, there are air defense capabilities," Lute said. A battalion is typically around 1,000 soldiers.

"(It is) all arms, combined arms, attack aircraft, it is the attack helicopters and artillery, rocket artillery." Russia's ground forces in Syria include some of its most advanced tanks, Lute said. Hmmm......Great way to test your military hardware for real. Wouldn't surprise me to see an Iranian assault as well. Read the full story here.

Russia May Use Navy to Blockade Syrian Coast and possibly deliver artillery strikes

Russia May Use Navy to Blockade Syrian Coast and possibly deliver artillery strikes. (SP).

Russia's Black Sea Fleet may be used in Syria to blockade the Syrian coastline and deliver armaments, as well as possibly deliver artillery strikes, the head of Russian State Duma's defense committee and former Black Sea Fleet commander Vladimir Komoyedov said.

Russia began precision strikes against Islamic State targets in Syria on September 30. According to Russia's Defense Ministry, Russia's air force has in the past two days destroyed terrorist headquarters, an explosives factory, a training camp and other targets. The targets are chosen based on Russian and Syrian reconnaissance data.
"Regarding the large-scale use of the Black Sea Fleet in this operation, I don't think it will happen, but in terms of a coastal blockade, I think that it's quite [possible]. The delivery of artillery strikes hasn't been excluded; the ships are ready for this, but there is no point in it for now. The terrorists are in deep, where the artillery cannot reach," Komoyedov said.

Political Islamist and 'paramilitary' violence in 'Islamist' Turkey.

Political Islamist and 'paramilitary' violence in 'Islamist' Turkey. (TZ).By Abdullah bozkurt.

Faced with growing public discontent regarding his leadership and strong resentment of his meddlesome presidency, intrusive politician Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and his band of political Islamist brethren have begun to resort more to brute force and violence than other means of intimidating opponents and critics.

On a slippery downward slope, the Islamists chose to escalate a war on Turkish democracy. When Erdoğan and his associates failed to gain traction in public debates with their overused political campaign slogans and much-abused conspiracy theories, they finally turned to harsh rhetoric, hate speech and even violent behavior.

Erdoğan urged his people to be confrontational in parliamentary debates, when controversial bills faced huge challenges from the opposition in terms of both procedure and substance. Instead of attempting to convince the opposition or compromising on amendments, he opted to use force to strong-arm opposition deputies. Justice and Development Party (AKP) lawmakers who use kicks and punches to intimidate the opposition are often rewarded with guarantees that their names will appear on the list of nominees in the next election or with privileged positions in government.

In the meantime, a relatively unknown group affiliated with the AKP, the Ottoman Hearths (Osmanlı Ocakları), is being groomed as a paramilitary nationalist youth network. It was mobilized during attacks on buildings belonging to pro-Kurdish and secular opposition parties. Ankara insiders believe Erdoğan made a pact with mafia bosses to lead this group in exchange for clearing the slate on their long list of records and convictions. Their goal is to intimidate opponents and critics of Erdoğan with sheer violence.

The second serious force to be reckoned with is composed of the renegade groups employed by the notorious Turkish intelligence agency, used by Erdoğan's political machinery to manipulate public perception in difficult times. The overtly politicized National Intelligence Organization (MİT), led by Erdoğan's close confidante Hakan Fidan, was instrumental in turning peaceful protests violent.

All of these revelations point to the conclusion that Erdoğan and his associates may go to great lengths to survive politically in Turkey. Utilizing radical and armed religious groups may be their last resort in a pattern of violence an increasing number of Turks have begun to detect, revealing the character of the political Islamist elites proven to be capable of resorting to violence and provoking ethnic and sectarian clashes.

Apparently, these Islamist rulers have no constitutional, moral or ethical boundaries. They will not hesitate to adopt scorched-earth policies.
What they do not understand is that the specter of a bloody civil war, be it ideological, ethnic or sectarian, will mobilize the real masses against Erdoğan's rule and will likely precipitate a military coup in Turkey. Let's just hope that the Nov. 1 election will correct this anomaly and set the country straight on a democratic path with the least possible damage. Hmmmm......Somehow The Moderate Turk still believes dictators silently leave into the night after Democratic elections, time to wake up and smell the 'strong Islamist Coffe' they don't leave. Obama 'Admin' 'Bought 610 Anti-Tank Missiles from Bulgaria for Syrian 'rebels' in 2014.

Obama 'Admin' Bought 610 Anti-Tank Missiles from Bulgaria for Syrian 'rebels' in 2014.(Janes).

Anti-tank guided Fagot missiles from Bulgaria are "among the most notable" arms transfers to the US army on behalf of Syrian rebels in 2014, IHS Jane's Defence has said.

Citing a document released by the UN Office of Disarmament Affairs (UNODA) IHS Jane's singles out "610 missiles for the Russian-made 9K111 Fagot anti-tank guided missile (ATGM) system together with one 9P151 launcher" and also the transfer of eight 9K115 Metis ATGM systems to the US.

These transfers would have taken place before the US officially began a train-and-equip programme for moderate Syrian opposition forces, which according to a 17 September BuzzFeed report involved hiring a US company to buy RPG-7 rocket-propelled grenade launchers, SPG-9 recoilless guns, and 9K113 Konkurs ATGM systems for the rebels. Senior adviser to Syrian President Assad: 'Tacit Agreement' between U.S., Russia to End Syria War.

Senior adviser to Syrian President Bashar Assad: 'Tacit Agreement' between U.S., Russia to End Syria War. (DS).

Russia and the United States have reached a "tacit agreement" on ending Syria's bloody crisis, a senior adviser to Syrian President Bashar Assad has said.

"The current U.S. administration wants to find a solution to the crisis in Syria. There is a tacit agreement between the U.S. and Russia to reach this solution," Bouthaina Shaaban said in an interview with state television late Wednesday.

"The U.S. recognizes now that Russia has profound knowledge of this region and a better assessment of the situation," she said.

"The current international climate is heading towards detente and towards a solution for the crisis in Syria."

Shaaban said there was a "change in the West's positions" over Syria's war, which has killed more than 240,000 people and displaced millions since 2011.

Russia, a decades-long backer of Syria's regime, has said it would not accept Assad's departure as a prerequisite for launching any peace process in the war-torn country.

While the United States has called for Assad's ouster for more than four years, Secretary of State John Kerry said last week that "it doesn't have to be on day one or month one or whatever." Read the full story here.

Russian Black Sea Fleet flagship Moskva left the city of Sevastopol for 'Drills' in Mediterranean.

Russian Black Sea Fleet flagship Moskva left the city of Sevastopol for 'Drills' in Mediterranean. (RT).

The warship will take part in planned exercises in the eastern Mediterranean as part of a permanent Russian Navy tactical group.
"The crews of Russian ships…will practice the organization of anti-submarine, anti-aircraft and anti-ship defense, search and rescue missions, as well as communication training and assistance to the crews of ships and aircraft in distress at sea," the news release said.
Over 40 different combat exercises will be carried out by the group, including missile and artillery firing at surface and air targets.

Earlier this year, Russian and Egyptian navies carried out joint military exercises involving F-16 fighter jets in the Mediterranean Sea. Russia and China also conducted Mediterranean drills earlier this year.

The Black Sea Fleet is stationed in both Crimea and the neighboring Krasnodar Territory and operates in both the Black and the Mediterranean Seas. Hmmm......ISIL meets Russian Tomahawk missiles.

Obama 'Admin' Blocking Russian Proposal to Sanction ISIL via UNSC.

Obama 'Admin' Blocking Russian Proposal to Sanction ISIL via UNSC.(RT).

The United States is blocking Russia's proposal to include the Islamic State on the UN Security Council's sanctions list as an independent organization, head of the Russian Foreign Ministry's Department for New Challenges and Threats Ilya Rogachev said Thursday.

The Russian Foreign Ministry's official said that ISIL is outlined in the UN Security Council's sanctions list as one of the names of al-Qaeda in Iraq, while it is no secret that the Islamic State is an independent structure acting as a rival of al-Qaeda.

"It is no secret that the Islamic State is an independent structure, acting, to a certain extent, as a rival of al-Qaeda. Meanwhile, it is outlined in the UN Security Council's sanctions list as one of the names of al-Qaeda in Iraq. We have proposed to include the Islamic State as an independent organization, but our proposals are being blocked by Western members of the Security Council, especially the United States, under various pretexts," Rogachev told RIA Novosti.

A coalition’s activities must act on the UN Security Council’s permission to use military force, as well as permission from the governments of those countries that are affected by these activities. An anti-terrorist coalition must integrate all of the interested governments in order to be effective," Ilya Rogachev said. Hmmm......I will stand with my Muslim Brothers. Read the full story here.

Russia to Use Egyptian Airspace Amid Strengthened Military Ties Between Assad and Sisi.

Russia to Use Egyptian Airspace Amid Strengthened Military Ties Between Assad and Sisi. (AL).

According to a senior officer from the Syrian Arab Army (SAA), the head of Syrian military intelligence, General ‘Ali Mamlouk, traveled to Beirut last week in order to attend a meeting with the head of Egypt’s military intelligence.

The meeting was facilitated by Russian security officials and meant to strengthen the renewed alliance between Syria and Egypt after the latter broke-off all diplomatic ties under their former president – Mohammad Morsi – in late 2012.

The source added that both parties agreed upon a contingency for Russia’s presence inside west Syria; this included the possible use of Egyptian airspace for the Russian Air Force.

Russia’s presence in Egypt could be detrimental for the Islamic State of Iraq and Al-Sham (ISIS), as the Kremlin possesses a powerful military arsenal and a history of dealing with religious extremists.

For the Syrian state government, their suspension from participation in the Arab League had created a rift between the region’s military powers; specifically, damaged relations with their former ally – Egypt.

However, thanks to repeated efforts by both Russia and Iran, the two historic allies are quickly mending their differences and exchanging intelligence information, despite the Western powers and Saudi Arabia’s disapproval over this rapprochement with the Syrian president, Dr. Bashar Al-Assad.

The Egyptian president, ‘Abdel-Fattah Al-Sisi, has taken a 180 degree turn in favor of the Syrian Arab Army; this promising news has strengthened Dr. Bashar Al-Assad’s presence in the region, while also giving him support from arguably the strongest Arab army. Hmmm.....A frigate here, a rocket launcher there, a few tanks......It's the season of giving.

A woman thought to be an online recruiter for the Islamic State has been arrested by the Cyberabad police. She was reportedly deported last night from Dubai along with her husband, identified as Devender Batra, who goes by "Mustafa".

September 6, 2015 Egypt’s acting Attorney General Aly Omran referred Saturday 35 alleged Muslim Brotherhood members to the military prosecution for involvement in the murder of a senior police officer in April, Youm7 reported.

Out of 35 defendants, 24 are in custody while the other 11 including Islamist preacher Yusuf al-Qaradawi are fugitives.

They are accused of assassinating the chief investigation officer of the Matariya Police Station colonel Wael Tahoun and his driver in a drive-by shooting in April 2014.

They defendants are also charged with orchestrating and carrying out several bombings in Cairo following the dispersal of pro-Muslim Brotherhood sit-in at Rabaa al-Adaweya Square in August 2013.

Crimes committed against public facilities, military and police institutions are handled by the military judiciary, according to law issued by President Abdel-Fatah al-Sisi in November 2014 following an armed attack that killed at least 30 security personnel in Sinai.

Egypt has witnessed a significant rise in militancy since the military-backed ouster of Islamist President Mohamed Morsi in July 2013 following mass protests against his rule. According to the Interior Ministry, militant attacks have killed more than 500 security personnel since then.

Debka: Russian Nuclear submarine with 20 ICBMs and 200 nuclear warheads is sailing to Syria.

"Submarine in pic used as 'illustration', Comes from old video

Debka: Russian submarine with 20 ICBMs and 200 nuclear warheads is sailing to Syria. (Debka).

The world’s largest submarine, the Dmitri Donskoy (TK-208), Nato-coded Typhoon, has set sail for the Mediterranean and is destined for the Syrian coast, DEBKAfile reports exclusively from its military and intelligence sources.

Aboard the sub are 20 Bulava (NATO-code SS-N-30) intercontinental ballistic missiles with an estimated up to 200 nuclear warheads. Each missile, with a reported range of 10,000km, carries 6-10 MIRV nuclear warheads.

The Russian sub set sail from its North Sea base on Sept. 4, escorted by two anti-sub warfare ships. Their arrival at destination in 10 days time will top up the new Russian military deployment in Syria.

President Vladimir Putin’s introduction of a nuclear force opposite Syrian shores builds up what first looked like an operation to fortify Assad’s regime in Damascus into a military expedition capable of an air and sea confrontation with US forces in the Middle East.

DEBKAfile’s sources in Washington and Moscow report that the dispatch of a nuclear sub to Syrian waters is taken as a strong message that the Kremlin will not let the US impede its military intervention in the Syrian conflict and will go to extreme lengths to keep the way open for the flow of Russian troops to the war-torn country. Hmmmm........Let's hope the Russians deal with ISIS like they did with the Nazis. Read the full story here.
