'Turkish authorities have not provided any information about the MIT trucks' : UN. (TZ).
Stephane Dujarric, spokesman for UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon, said the UN's policy regarding the Syria crisis has been very clear from the very start and prefers a peaceful settlement of the conflict.
"The fundamental principle of the secretary-general is definite. The UN supports peace-oriented acts for resolution of the conflict in Syria. The UN is against arms shipment to any of the warring sides in Syria," he said in a statement on Tuesday.
Dujarric also said the Turkish authorities have not provided any information about the trucks, which belonged to Turkey's National Intelligence Organization (MİT) -- neither to officials at the UN or the office of the UN secretary-general.
The revelation of a truck loaded with ammunition and missiles in the southern Turkish province of Adana sparked a political crisis in Turkey, with opposition parties accusing the government of sending arms to radical groups in Syria. The government has, however, denied such allegations, insisting that the weapons-loaded trucks were destined for Turkmen in Syria. Story which the Turkmen deny. Hmmm....After arming both sides since 2010 the UN Claims they are against this. Read the full story here.
