A video of a Russian tank purported to be the new Russian T-14 Armata tank has been posted on the internet.

The short video clip, which lasts only 16 seconds, shows a passing tank covered with camouflage, which in its external appearance is different from all current Russian armored combat vehicles.

According to Russian media, the Armata may be presented for the first time to the public during the Victory Parade in Moscow on May 9 this year.

According to the Russian online publication Lenta.ru – “from the video posted on the internet, several conclusions can be drawn about the arrangement of this machine.”

First of all, the publication writes, it has been confirmed that this tank is equipped with an unmanned turret, and that its crew will be located in the front of the machine in an armored capsule.

According to information leaked to the Russian press, the Armata will also have a machine gun with remote-control loading and its own radar station, which can track up to 40 moving and up to 25 aerodynamic targets as well as monitor a territory within a radius of 100 km.

Russian Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Rogozin says his country favors closer cooperation between Moscow and Tehran regarding regional issues.

In a Wednesday meeting with Iran’s Ambassador to Moscow Mehdi Sanaei, Rogozin described the Islamic Republic as the only stable country in the “very sensitive” Middle East region and stressed the importance of ties and continued collaboration between Tehran and Moscow in this regard.

The Russian official pointed to the recent developments in the region and criticized negative role of certain powers in rising tensions in Ukraine and Afghanistan, urging vigilance against Western plots.

Sanaei, for his part, said that senior Iranian and Russian officials are determined to expand bilateral ties.

During a meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin in September 2013, Iranian President Hassan Rouhani stressed the significance of the bilateral negotiations in the resolution of the Middle East crises. 

The meeting was held on the sidelines of Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) summit in the Kyrgyz capital Bishkek.

Ooooops.....No adequate Fuel in Russia For French-Built Mistral-class amphibious assault vessels - Deputy PM Rogozin.(RN).MOSCOW - Russia does not produce the type of fuel necessary for the French-made Mistral-class amphibious assault vessels it has ordered, Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Rogozin said Tuesday.
The Mistral class are powered by electric motors supplied by diesel-powered turbogenerators, according to naval-technology.com. Diesel fuel can suffer from a condition known as waxing or gelling in cold conditions, causing it to clog up fuel injection systems, naval systems engineers say. The condition can be corrected by use of certain chemical additives, or pre-heating the fuel, as is done in some cars.
“Probably, our chemists will prepare some special additives to solve this problem,” Rogozin, who oversees Russia’s military industry, told reporters on Tuesday. In January, Rogozin criticized the 1.2 billion euro deal to buy the ships, saying they would not be able to operate in cold weather, but did not then specify the reason.
The problem probably arose because Europe uses slightly different, cleaner diesel than Russian marine diesels, said an oil refinery engineer in London who spoke to RIA Novosti on condition of anonymity.
“The Russians could probably make the right grade fuel at a refinery of theirs somewhere, but then you have the problem of specially transporting and storing it,” he said. “You couldn’t just stick that fuel in the existing storage system and expect it to be clean.”
Using Russian-made fuel in the Mistrals might possibly cause minor damage over long periods, or invalidate the engines’ warranties, he said.
Specialists from both countries will discuss issues concerning the Mistral ships, including the fuel problem, during bilateral military talks to be held on February 14-15.
Rogozin said insufficient scientific advice had been taken in Russia prior to the latest decisions about purchases of arms and military equipment. “The devil is in the detail, so now we are looking into the problems that we might face when using those ships,” Rogozin said.
Rogozin repeated Russia would stick to its commitments under the deal, despite his critical comments about Mistral.
“I want to stress out again Russia will fulfil all its obligations mentioned in the signed contracts, so those worries which our French friends have should only be little ones – at least over the ships on the French wharves,” Rogozin said. Russian Vice PM Rogozin trades in BMW for Russian 'Tigr'combat vehicle.(RT).Russian Vice Prime Minister Dmitry Rogozin will soon trade in his BMW for a vehicle that’s sure to stoke envy (and maybe fear) in Moscow drivers: The defense chief is buying a military-grade Tigr troop carrier, also known as the ‘Russian Hummer.’
­Rogozin is currently in process of purchasing an unarmored version of the GAZ-2330 ‘Tigr’ (Tiger) five-door offroad combat vehicle, Izvestia daily reported.
“I’ve been telling that [the] Russian defense industry can do quality non-military products,” Rogozin wrote on Twitter. “Let’s switch from ‘trophy’ to domestic!”
Some Russian owners of German-made cars pay homage to the Soviet soldiers who stormed Berlin in 1945, ending WWII, by inscribing ‘War trophy’ or ‘To Berlin’ on the rear windows of their Audi, BMW and Mercedes cars.
The various modifications of the Tigr resemble the dimensions of the US HMMWV (Humvee). The Tigr, however, can carry more armor, has a larger payload and a slightly higher range and max speed than the Humvee. Tigrs previously were only used by the army and police.
Tigrs have grown in popularity for civilian use in Russia among those wealthy enough to pay for surplus military hardware. Vladimir Zhirinovsky, the leader of Russia’s Liberal Democratic Party (LDPR) and its parliamentary faction, bought a Tigr in 2006. Oscar-winning film director Nikita Mikhalkov reportedly owns four Tigrs.
The Russian Machines Corporation, which produces the Tigr in Arzamas, a town in the Nizhniy Novgorod region, announced that the vehicles will now use domestic-made YMZ-530 turbo diesel engines.
Tigrs previously used diesel engines imported from the US. Civilian buyers still can order vehicles with American engines.
Rogozin reportedly placed the order for his Tigr as a private buyer, and will pay for his personal ‘troop transporter’ out of his own wallet. The basic civilian model of the Tigr starts at $100,000.Read the full story here.

Viktor Chirkov said on Wednesday. “I think that we will be able to float out up to five warships and auxiliary ships every year,” Chirkov told reporters in St. Petersburg at the launch of the Igor Belousov sea-rescue ship, which is expected to be commissioned in 2014. The construction of the Igor Belousov started in 2005 at the Admiralty Shipyards in St. Petersburg but has faced a series of setbacks. The ship is designed to perform a variety of missions, including the search, rescue and salvage of submarines in distress. It is equipped with advanced deep-sea search-and-rescue equipment, including a deep-sea diving system produced by the Scottish firm DIVEX. Igor Belousov is the first rescue ship built in post-Soviet Russia. The vessel is vital for the Russian Navy as it still lacks reliable means to rescue submarines in distress. According to Chirkov, the ships of this type will be put in service with all Russian fleets. Russian President Vladimir Putin said last year that the procurement of new ships and submarines for the Navy would be a priority over the next decade. The Russian government has allocated five trillion rubles ($156 bln) or a quarter of the entire armament procurement budget until 2020 for this purpose. Our aim is to persuade them to start technological cooperation and to develop a product that will be used in both countries, and could also be sold to third countries,” Rogozin said in an interview with the Rossia-24 TV channel. Russia will no longer buy ready-made weapon systems in the West but is only interested in new technology, said Rogozin, who is responsible for Russia's military-industrial complex. “Technology should be attracted by localizing production on Russian territory,” Rogozin noted. In mid-May a source in the Russian defense industry said Moscow may buy a large new consignment of unmanned aerial vehicles from Israel and 24 command and control systems worth around $50 million in the foreseeable future.
Israel Aerospace Industries previously delivered to Russia two Bird Eye-400, eight I-View Mk150 and two Searcher Mk.2 UAVs, totaling $53 million. “The Defense Ministry is considering the possibility of purchasing from the Israeli company Aeronautics Defense Systems of three types of UAV control systems (eight each): Orbiter 2, Aerostar и Skystar,” the source said.
