Pakistan expels Save the Children’s foreign staff, government suspects the charity helped US spies hunting Osama bin Laden.

Pakistan expels Save the Children’s foreign staff, government suspects the charity helped US spies hunting Osama bin Laden.(ET).ISLAMABAD: Pakistan is expelling foreign staff of the Save the Children aid group, an agency official said on Thursday, a decision apparently linked to government suspicion the charity helped US spies hunting Osama bin Laden.
The Interior Ministry had told the aid group that its six foreign employees had to be out of Pakistan within two weeks, said Ghulam Qadri, the group’s director for programme planning and communications. The ministry gave no reason for the decision, he said. Interior Ministry officials were not immediately available for comment. Save the Children and other aid groups have come under government suspicion because of media reports they had come into contact with a Pakistani doctor, Shakil Afridi, who helped the US Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) hunt down bin Laden. “The allegations that have appeared in the media that Afridi worked with Save The Children and that Afridi was introduced to CIA by our staff, there is no truth to these allegations and no concrete evidence to support them,” said Qadri.
Bin Laden was killed in May last year when US special forces raided his hideout in the northern Pakistani town of Abbottabad. Pakistan, while a US security ally, objected to the secret US raid as a violation of its sovereignty. Afridi was arrested soon after bin Laden was killed. Afridi ran a vaccination campaign in Abbottabad and used cheek swabs to try to gather DNA from bin Laden’s children, who were staying with him in his hideout, one former Pakistani security official familiar with the case said this year. It was unclear whether the CIA used the swabs to determine if the children were those of the al Qaeda chief. After his arrest, Afridi was vilified by many Pakistanis for what they saw as his treason for helping the United States. He was sentenced to 33 years in jail this year. Save the Children has been working in Pakistan for more than 30 years, employing more than 2,000 Pakistani staff.Hmmmm........Pakistan 'Ally' in the fight against terrorism..........Yeah whatevah.Read the full story here.

Two Bibles 'containing terror codes' found hidden in Bin Laden compound as it is demolished.

Two Bibles 'containing terror codes' found hidden in Bin Laden compound as it is demolished.(DM).Pakistani security officials have found two copies of the Bible at the house where Al-Qaeda chief Osama Bin Laden was killed.
The Christian holy books were discovered this week when demolition crews were sent in to tear down the compound in Abbottabad.
They were so well hidden that security personnel had previously overlooked them.It is thought the English-print editions contain coded clues to future terror attacks, The Sun reported.
Pakistan's ISI security service also found two radio sets in a final sweep of the compound before demolition.
The English-language Bibles - a bizarre find in the home of the world's most famous Islamic fundamentalist - contained pages that are folded-over and highlighted texts.
An ISI commanding officer told The Sun: 'The Bibles were in English and we cannot be sure why they were there. These copies were found as we checked the rooms for the final time before demolishing the building.
'The radios are in working condition and will be given with the Bibles to the investigators. Some pages were folded and we will see later what was of most interest to Bin Laden.
'Maybe he was looking for teachings of jihad.'
Bin Laden was killed at the compound by U.S. Navy SEALs last May after the biggest manhunt in history. On Tuesday, reports that bin Laden had been in contact with members of Pakistan’s spy agency, according to secret emails published by Wikileaks, had been rebuffed by a Pakistani military spokesman.
An email, which was sent by an analyst at a global intelligence firm, Stratfor, suggested that up to 12 officials in Pakistan’s Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) had known of the al-Qaeda leader’s hideout
But spokesman for the army, General Athar Abbas, said the allegations surrounding the ISI were baseless. “They are nonsense and not credible,”Hmmm.....Let me guess the highlighted passage was:" Then said Jesus unto him, Put up again thy sword into his place: for all they that take the sword shall perish with the sword." ~ Matt 26:52.Read the full story here, more here.

Taliban will rule Afghanistan again, says leaked US military report

Taliban will rule Afghanistan again, says leaked US military report.(UK Guardian).
The Taliban, backed by Pakistan, are set to retake control of Afghanistan after Nato-led forces withdraw from the country, according to reports citing a classifed assessment by US forces.
The Times described the report as secret and “highly classified”, saying it was put together by the US military at Bagram air base in Afghanistan for top Nato officers last month. The BBC also carried a report on the leaked document.
“Many Afghans are already bracing themselves for an eventual return of the Taliban,” the report was quoted as saying. “Once Isaf (Nato-led forces) is no longer a factor, Taliban consider their victory inevitable.”
The document stated that Pakistan’s security agency was helping the Taliban in directing attacks against foreign forces – a charge long denied by Islamabad.
The findings were based on interrogations of more than 4,000 Taliban and al-Qaida detainees, the Times said, adding the document was scarce on identifying individual insurgents.
A US state department spokesman and Britain’s Foreign Office both declined comment on the report. Nato and Pakistani officials could not be immediately reached for comment.
Despite the presence of more than 100,000 foreign troops, the UN has said violence in Afghanistan is at its worst since the Taliban were ousted by US-backed forces in 2001.
The Nato-led International Security Assistance Force (Isaf) says levels of violence are falling.
Citing the same report, the BBC reported on its website that Pakistan and its Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) agency knew the locations of senior Taliban leaders and supported the expulsion of “foreign invaders from Afghanistan”.
“Senior Taliban leaders meet regularly with ISI personnel, who advise on strategy and relay any pertinent concerns of the government of Pakistan.”
The Times said the document suggested the Taliban were gaining in popularity, partly because the severe Islamist movement was becoming more tolerant. The report was quoted as stating: “It remains to be seen whether a revitalised, more progressive Taliban will endure if they continue to gain power and popularity. Regardless, at least within the Taliban the refurbished image is already having a positive effect on morale.”Hmmmm........Obama: If We Work Hard, Afghanistan Could Be a Success...Like Iraq!Yup starts to look like it.Read the full story here.
