Khamenei: Iran will destroy Tel Aviv if attacked

Khamenei: Iran will destroy Tel Aviv if attacked.(JPost).DUBAI - Iran's most powerful authority said the Islamic Republic would destroy the Israeli cities of Tel Aviv and Haifa if Israel launched a military attack against it.

"At times the officials of the Zionist regime (Israel) threaten to launch a military invasion but they themselves know that if they make the slightest mistake the Islamic Republic will raze Tel Aviv and Haifa to the ground," Ayatollah Ali Khamenei said during an address, broadcast live on state television.

Israel has threatened military action against Iran unless it abandons nuclear activities which the West suspects are intended to develop nuclear weapons, allegations Tehran denies.

Khamenei also took to his official Twitter account to express his thoughts on Israel's threats to Iran:

#Iran's Leader: #Israel's leaders often threaten #Iran, but they know if they commit it, we will destroy Tel Aviv and Haifa into ashes.

IDF sergeant collapses and dies during half marathon in 95 degrees heat; over 20 hospitalized.

IDF sergeant collapses and dies during half marathon in 95 degrees heat; over 20 hospitalized.(TOI).participant in the Tel Aviv half marathon collapsed and died Friday morning, and more than 20 others were hospitalized due to extremely hot conditions.

The deceased runner, Michael Michaelovitch, was a 29-year-old IDF sergeant from the settlement of Tene, south of Hebron. He collapsed along the route and was taken to the city’s Sourasky Medical Center, where his death was confirmed. Twelve other participants were in serious condition at the same hospital, with four of them on respirators, reported Israel Radio.

A 29-year-old man who participated in a shortened Tel Aviv Marathon on Friday died and a dozen others were in serious condition from dehydration after ignoring the Health Ministry’s warning that the searing heat and humidity would make participation a danger to health.

Magen David Adom ambulances evacuated the victims and took them to Tel Aviv Sourasky Medical Center, while medics treated dozens of others affected lightly or moderately for heatstroke, in which the loss of body fluids affects numerous organs. MDA spokesman Zaki Heller said five were in the most danger and were put under anesthesia and respirated in the hospital. In addition to Sourasky, Wolfson Medical Center in Holon and Sheba Medical Center at Tel Hashomer also admitted patients.

Upon the ministry's recommendation, the full 42-kilometer marathon was cancelled. The ministry also advised that all runners for shorter races reach the finish line no later than 8.30 a.m. and preferably earlier before the temperature would reach 30. The full marathon is due to be held on March 22. But many runners -- and tens of thousands of spectators -- participated on Friday nevertheless as the thermometers popped through the 36-degree-Celsius mark.

Tel Aviv Mayor Ron Huldai responded to the incident: "the city of Tel Aviv expresses its deep regret over the death of one of the runners in the city's marathon." He added that the city followed instructions from the Health Ministry and Ichilov Hospital in deciding to hold only the half marathon, so the event would end by 9:30 am.

Huldai said that runner who died was taking part in the half marathon and began running at 6am and was treated by medical staff at 8am. At the time the weather was only somewhat hot, according to the weather services, Huldai said.

Army Radio also quoted Huldai as saying that in light of US President Barack Obama's scheduled visit to Israel next week, it would not have been possible to postpone the events that took place on Friday.Hmmmm.....'The show must go on'?Read the full story here, more here at Carl in jerusalem.

Tel Aviv Chief Rabbi Yisrael Meir Lau wrote US Pres Obama on Friday Not to Let Pollard Die in Prison.(JPost).Tel Aviv Chief Rabbi Yisrael Meir Lau wrote US President Barack Obama on Friday Not to Let Pollard Die in Prison.
Despite his admission and his regret, Jonathan continues to serve a sentence unprecedented in American history [for the crime he committed],” Lau wrote. “His health is fleeting and the remainder of his life is diminishing.”
In the letter, Lau quoted a verse in the Book of Samuel that warns that Jonathan could die. He notes that the Jonathan in the book is the son of King Saul but that it also applies to Pollard.
Lau asked Obama to permit Pollard to move to Israel and become a father.
He noted that Pollard would soon mark the unfortunate milestone of 10,000 days in prison.
“Let him live the rest of his life with his wife, Esther, in the State of Israel that granted him citizenship,” Lau wrote. This action would be seen as a humanitarian gesture by the seekers of freedom in the world.
Lau will have an opportunity to raise Pollard’s fate directly with Obama, because he will be with him when Obama visits Yad Vashem, of which Lau heads the board of directors, next month.Read the full story here.

Iran aiming Biological Warheads at Israel.(WND).By Reza Kahlili.
Source confirms missiles in underground silos target Tel Aviv.
Iran has 170 ballistic missiles aimed at Tel Aviv, many with biological warheads, WND has learned. According to a source who served in Iran’s Intelligence Ministry and who recently defected, the Islamic regime has armed hundreds of its ballistic missiles with biological warheads, and 170 of them are targeting Tel Aviv from underground missile silos.
The Islamic regime ruling Iran has prepared for the total destruction of Israel, he said. The source, talking to WND, confirmed that Iran has made significant advances on several fronts – chemical, biological, nuclear and electronic warfare – and that the regime is looking at the deterioration in Syria and the possibility of an attack on Iran’s nuclear facilities with the intent of setting Israel and the region on fire. The regime is adamant about its support of Syrian President Bashar al-Assad, the source said, and is working on its nuclear weapons program at several sites unknown to the West. The IAEA, the source said, is on the wrong track by focusing only on the Natanz and Fordo nuclear sites. There are more than 70 North Korean military advisers and scientists who are working in Iran on the country’s defense projects, including work on a plutonium bomb, the source said.Read the full story here.

Meantime, after the US programmers in an open war of media developed "Battlefield 3" depicting a US assault on Iran, the Iranian computer game programmers announced that they would soon release "Attack on Tel Aviv" in a retaliatory move. Executive-Manager of Iran's National Foundation of Computer Games Behrooz Minaei told FNA in December that the foundation will fund the project, and announced that many Iranian computer game programmers have voiced preparedness to contribute a role in the project. Minaei said that Battlefield 3 has many technical and video faults, adding that the location of the game in Tehran is "unacceptable". He said that Iran has sent letters to the US videogame company, Electronic Arts (EA), and voiced its protest at the latest version of Battlefield, but the opposite side has not yet responded to the letter. Army : Tel Aviv to Get Missile Interceptor System.

Army: Tel Aviv to Get Missile Interceptor System.(DN).Jerusalem — The Israeli military will deploy a battery of rocket interceptors from its “Iron Dome” system in the Tel Aviv region on Feb. 20, a military spokesman said Feb. 19.
“Iron Dome is being incorporated into the heart of the Israeli military. The decision to site an Iron Dome battery at Tel Aviv comes amid heightened regional tensions and speculation about a possible Israeli attack targeting Iran’s controversial nuclear program.
Israel has denied that a decision has been taken to launch a pre-emptive strike on Iranian nuclear facilities.Designed to intercept rockets and artillery shells fired from a range of between 4 kilometers and 70 kilometers (3 miles and 45 miles), Iron Dome is part of an ambitious multi-layered defense program to protect Israeli towns and cities.
Two other systems make up the program — the Arrow long-range ballistic missile defense system and the so-called David’s Sling, or Magic Wand, system, intended to counter medium-range missiles.Read the full story here.
