Egypt May Strip Topless Protester Alia al Mahdi of Citizenship.

Egypt May Strip Topless Protester Alia al Mahdi of Citizenship.(RN).Egypt’s Prosecutor General is to review a request to strip a woman who protested topless against the new constitution outside the Egyptian Embassy in Sweden of her citizenship, local media reported on Monday.
The request accuses the protestor, Alia al Mahdi, of “undermining the authority of the state and disrespecting the religious sensibilities of the Egyptian people” and demands that she is branded a “persona non grata” and banned from entering the country.
The applicant, Islamic movement activist Mahmoud Abderrahman, included a video of the protest outside the Egyptian Embassy in Stockholm as supporting evidence.
Two days before the final stage of Egypt’s referendum on the new constitution, women including activists with the FEMEN group, famous for using nudity in their campaigns, staged a protest outside the Egyptian Embassy in Sweden over the constitution's failure to explicitly protect women's rights.
The days leading up to the referendum on the constitution saw numerous protests by women’s rights groups within Egypt.
At one headline-grabbing protest, campaigners gathered on Tahrir Square and cut their hair in a symbolic gesture against what they see as diminished rights for women under the new constitution.Read the full story here.

Topless Femen activist cuts down Christian cross in the Ukrainian capital Kiev in 'Pussy Riot' support.

Topless Femen activist cuts down Christian cross in the Ukrainian capital Kiev in 'Pussy Riot' support.(Reuters).The young woman staged her protest as a Russian court was due to deliver a verdict on three Pussy Riot members for performing a political "punk prayer" at the altar of Moscow's main cathedral - a case that has been criticized by free-speech advocates around the world. To show solidarity with the Pussy Riot defendants, Inna Shevchenko, a member of the Ukrainian group Femen which often stages bare-breasted shock performances, destroyed the four-meter high wooden cross bearing the figure of Christ. The cross, erected in 2005 on a hilltop looking down on the city centre, also served as a memorial to the victims of Stalinist repression and the famine of the 1930s. Two other activists used ropes to direct the fall of the cross. "No business, not even one as successful as the church, has the right to attack women's rights," Shevchenko, 22, a veteran of several Femen protests, said after bringing down the cross. A criminal case has been formally opened for hooliganism in connection with the incident, police spokesman Ihor Mykhalko said. The maximum sentence for the offence is four years in jail.Hmmmm.....Give her a 'work punishment' cut trees in the forest?Read the full story here.

Video - Topless Femen Protesters Climb St. Sophia Cathedral in Kiev.

Topless Femen Protesters Climb St. Sophia Cathedral in Kiev.(RaiNovosti).Activists from the Ukrainian feminist group Femen brought their barebreasted protest movement back to Kiev by occupying the Bell Tower of the St. Sophia Cathedral in order to denounce a draft law banning abortion. Once the five protesters climbed to the top of the tower, they stripped to the waist, unfurled a seven-meter black banner with a one-word message - "STOP" - and rang the bell. “The ringing is an alarm to this eternal city of the gangster conspiracy of church and state that aims to impose government control over the sacred feminine gift of procreation," Femen said on Twitter. The Ukrainian feminists last held a topless demonstration earlier this winter in Moscow outside the Christ the Savior Cathedral. Their demand at that protest was: “God, get rid of the Tsar!”Read and see (Video) the full story here.
