WITH SADNESS THIS TIME, WE REPRODUCE THE U.S. INTERNATIONAL RELIGIOUS FREEDOM REPORT FOR 2011.(CopticLiterature).By Dioscorus Boles.

This year, we reproduce, with a bit of sadness, the International Religious Freedom Report for 2011 which has been published today, 30 July 2012, by the U.S. Department of State (its Bureau of Democracy, Human Rights and Labor). We reproduce it because it documents the abuses of Coptic human rights in Egypt in detail – we reproduce it without much of a jubilation, because we don’t believe that the foreign policy of the current administration of the U.S. aims to strengthen anymore the implementation of the International Religious Freedom Act, 1998, or is serious about protecting religious freedom across the world, particularly that of the Christians of the Middle East, including the Copts.
The Christians of the Middle East see the current American foreign policy focused on one thing, and one thing alone: challenging the Shiite Islamists in Iran, and their nuclear ambitions. To be able to do that necessary objective, which we support, the U.S. has sought to strengthen Sunni Islamists in the area to counteract the power of the Shiites. But Sunni Islamists are not friends of democracy, human rights or religious liberty either. In fact, they may be worse than Shiite Islamists in that. We do not see any good coming from that in the short or long term. In fact, we may be replacing a lesser evil with a greater one, which will turn in the future against moderate Muslim men and women, Christians, and the Jews of the region … and the U.S.Read the full story here.
