Ashton thanks Davutoğlu for Turkey's support of nuclear deal with Iran.(TZ).
European Union Foreign Policy Chief Catherine Ashton thanked Turkish Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoğlu on Thursday for Turkey's support to an interim agreement reached between Iran and Western powers on curbing Tehran's nuclear program in exchange for easing sanctions on Iran after five-day marathon negotiations in Geneva.
Diplomatic sources said Ashton called Davutoğlu and
briefed him about the deal.
Congratulating Ashton on reaching an agreement with
Iran, Davutoğlu said Turkey is ready to make any kind of contribution to find a
peaceful solution to the issue as long as the parties maintain their
constructive approach.
Davutoğlu added that Turkey hopes for the issue to be
solved soon.In his phone conversation with Ashton, Davutoğlu also briefed her
about his recent visit to Tehran and his meetings with Iranian officials.Ashton
and Davutoğlu also agreed to discuss the Iranian nuclear program and the issue
concerning Turkey and the European Union at the meeting of NATO foreign
ministers next week in Brussels that they both are expected to attend.
