Blackwater Founder Erik Prince Praises Kurdish Fighters, Blames Obama Administration.(Basnews).

Erik Prince, founder of the former private security firm Blackwater, has on his blog suggested that the Iraqi army is unable to fight the terrorist Islamic State group, and that the US should allow Kurds and private security contractors to finish the job.

Prince says that the the US administration strategy of carrying out only airstrikes will fail to defeat the terrorist group, and that only a competent volunteer force supporting local forces, such as the Kurds, can defeat the extremist group.

When IS first attacked, the Iraqi army folded, quickly providing IS with five heavy divisions of US weaponry (tanks, howitzers, armored vehicles and even helicopters) and three logistic support units’ worth of equipment and munitions,” he wrote.

But he suggests the Kurds could do a much better job, if not hindered by the politics of the Obama administration that supported Baghdad against Kurdistan.

The Kurds, once a lean and strong fighting force that routinely rebuffed Saddam’s forces, now find themselves outgunned, under-equipped, and overwhelmed,” Prince wrote.

But they do fight, and they fight bravely. The Kurds’ biggest problem is the U.S. State Department blocking them from selling their oil and from buying serious weaponry to protect their stronghold and act as a stabilizing force in the region.”
