Ottoman Sultan’s granddaughter threatened for visiting protest in 'New Turkey'.

Ottoman Sultan’s granddaughter threatened for visiting protest in 'New Turkey'. (Bugun).

In her interview on news debate show “Erkam Tufan’la Analiz” on Bugün TV, Adile Osmanoğlu said that she'd been told, “Do not get into those topics, they are deeper than what you know.” Osmanoğlu suspects his interlocutor to be a close aide of President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan.

I told the man ‘I got your message very clear, if anything should happen to me I guess you’ll pay me a visit in prison’,” noted the Ottoman ruler’s grandaughter adding she had visited the protests out of curiosity.

However the incident, in Osmanoğlu’s words, “changed my view on Mr. Erdoğan whom I once greatly respected and trusted; it was disturbing.”

Osmanoğlu has since cast doubts over Erdoğan's sincerity over championing the Ottoman Empire (1299-1923), the predecessor of the current secular Turkish republic.

The President has most recently proposed adding the Ottoman language, a mixture of old Turkish, Arabic, and Persian, to the national curriculum.

Osmanoğlu replied, “[Erdoğan] states he loves and respects the Osmanoğlus, but reality it is not so.”   Hmmmm....Sounds almost like Lenin paying his respects to the Czars granddaughter....won't happen. Read the full story here.
