Turkish Airlines was one of the main sponsors of a Dec. 9 blogger summit at the White House in Washington D.C., where the world’s 100 most influential travel bloggers were invited.
Turkish Airlines executives said the second summit is planned to be held in Turkey.
“We are quite happy to be one of the sponsors of this event, the aim of which is to raise awareness of multicultural exchanges and educational opportunities across the world and in Turkey,” said Turkish Airlines General Manager in D.C., Handan Çörekçi.
The 100 most influential travel bloggers and digital media outlets met in the White House to discuss study abroad programs and global citizenship.
The bloggers shared their travel and blogging experiences with each other on social media using the hashtags #WTTTravelBloggers and #DiscoverWithTurkishAirlines.
The summit included a dinner for the attendees at Newseum, one of the leading museums in Washington D.C., also sponsored by Turkish Airlines.
After news of an nepotism scandal for state jobs, it's been reported that many have been hired or promoted to high ranking positions at Turkish Airlines (THY) thanks to their relationship with government officials.

According to Zaman daily, a number of people have used their AK Party affiliation to get jobs at THY as well as a joint ventures of THY, such as Turkish Ground Services (TGS), THY Technic, Aviation Maintenance-Repair and Modification Center (HABOM), MNG Technic and Sunexpress.
Former Interior Minister Muammer Güler, one of the suspects in a graft scandal that went public in December of last year, hired his daughter Burcu Güler as a lawyer in THY's Legal Department, and she has been working there since 2009.
Customs and Trade Minister Nurettin Canikli’s daughter-in-law Canan Canikli is an inspector at THY, and it is claimed that Abdullah Gül’s nephew Sedat Şekerci is the head of the Flight Training Department in THY.
President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan’s high-school graduate nephew Umut Sercan serves as an officer in THY’s London Marketing and Sales Department.
Mehmet Gür, a businessman who is known to have close ties to Erdoğan, managed to get his nephew a job as a manager of THY’s Dusseldorf department. Hmmmm.....Good thing Erdogan and Obama no longer talk to each other......well they claim they don't.
