'Islamist' Turkish Pro-government media blames Europe for Charlie Hebdo attack. (TodaysZaman).
Columnists from Turkey's pro-government media outlets have written articles linking the terrorist attack on Charlie Hebdo, the satirical French magazine where 12 people were killed when gunmen raided the weekly's offices in Paris on Wednesday, to interesting theories including blaming European governments and intelligence agencies, calling it “Europe's Sept. 11 plot” and even linking the attacks to Syrian President Bashar al-Assad.
Four of the magazine's world-renowned cartoonists and one of its editors were among those killed. The magazine had been threatened by radical Islamists for drawing caricatures of Prophet Muhammad.
İbrahim Karagül, the editor-in-chief of pro-government Yeni Şafak newspaper, indicated in his column on Friday that the Charlie Hebdo attack could be a conspiracy theory, doubting “that the attack came as a shock to European governments, intelligence agencies, security units or anyone associated with terrorism and security issues.” Read the full story here.
