'Advanced Islamist Dictatorship' Turkey’s intelligence agency to bug offices of judges and prosecutors.

'Advanced Islamist Dictatorship' Turkey’s intelligence agency to bug offices of judges and prosecutors. (Bugun).

New allegations have surfaced that suggest the offices of 2000 judges and prosecutors are to be bugged by Turkey’s National Intelligence Agency (MİT) upon orders issued by the Criminal Peace Magistrates, known for being under the thumb of Turkey’s ruling AK Party.

With Turkey already in the throes of a growing judiciary scandal after the recent arrest of 2 judges in Istanbul and 4 prosecutors in the southern province of Mersin, new allegations have surfaced that suggest Ankara has sanctioned MİT to bug the offices of 2000 judges and prosecutors. No official denial has been forthcoming.

Istanbul’s Anatolia Courthouse Judge Zafer Uygun first brought up the allegations on adalet.org, a message board used by judges, prosecutors and lawyers, “MİT has been authorized by Ankara and the Istanbul Criminal Peace Magistrates to plant 2000 bugs in the offices of judges and prosecutors,” he wrote.

Critics often accuse Turkey’s Criminal Peace Magistrates, filled with ideological appointees after a massive reorganization in the past year and a half, of acting exclusively to serve the interests of the ruling Justice and Development Party (AK Party).

Uygun’s claims stoked much outrage on the message board. Prosecutor Ü.U. said, “Everything is in disarray, of course they’ll do that too. They’ll both plant bugs then they’ll hold us responsible for that action too.” Judge B.U. asked, “Are we really surprised? That’s the saddest part of all.”

Judge H.O. underlined the rule of law, “Can a judge behave unlawfully? Why would they? How could they make such a decision? But these types of questions can only be asked in a country with the rule of law. In a country with an independent judiciary. Whatever.”

Meanwhile Judge F.K. discussed how if said allegations were true, then it meant the complete bankruptcy of Turkey’s legal system. Judge Uygun, who made the original claim, said that the information hadn't been confirmed, but since no official denial had been forthcoming he had every reason to believe it. Hmmm......'Advanced Islamist Dictatorship' Erdolf hort mit.
