Erdogan's Turkey - Who will invest in a country that lacks the protection of law?

Erdogan's Turkey - Who will invest in a country that lacks the protection of law? (Bugun). By Gültekin Avcı.

The unlawful intervention to Bank Asya on Tuesday means the countdown for Turkish economy has started.

This is a countdown for collapse.

Despite the lack of any legal justification, the Savings Deposit Insurance Fund (TMSF) has assigned a new board of directors and a general director to Bank Asya – an act that constitutes an assault on law itself.

It is an assault not just against Bank Asya, but also against the property rights of civil society and private sector that refuses to pledge allegiance to the AKP.

In a free market economy, trying to take a bank down with hateful motives and political ambitions is synonymous with signing the death warrant of the market.

It means shooting your own economy in the foot.

It means scolding and chasing foreign capital, telling them, “Don’t you dare come to this country!”

In other words, it means treason.

It takes to be more than an adventurer to invest in a country that lacks the protection of law.

I am not a legal expert, but when I look at the issue from a general legal perspective I see that TMSF’s assignment of a new board of directors and a general director to Bank Asya is a clearly illegal and illegitimate intervention.

Both the TMSF and the abettors of the illegal act have committed a crime.

Erdoğan and the AKP, simply dismiss all laws and regulations as if they are sure there is no judiciary left to answer for.

They couldn’t make Bank Asya fail.

And now they insidiously want to take over the management and bring the bank down from within.

During their term of management they will create with their own hands the conditions –which they just couldn’t bring about otherwise– for confiscation.

You may guess what they plan to do to Bank Asya once the management consists of pro-AKP people.

You would hardly find another example of an outlook this malign, an approach that wants to destroy its own people’s money.

Sending the police before the Bank Asya building plainly exposes their devious intentions.

What are the police doing there?

None of TMSF’s proceedings or other dealings concerning the supervision of or intervention against banks require police involvement.

Is there a criminal investigation? Why are you sending the police?

A person who tries to take down his people’s bank and close his country’s schools is an enemy of his own nation and country.

He is an enemy of the free market, the law and democracy.

Such examples of spite deserve to be in mental institutions, not out there on the street. Read the full story here.
