On Friday, 21 April 2017, the National Council of Resistance of Iran, U.S. Representative Office held a press conference at the Willard InterContinental Hotel in Washington, DC exposing yet another nuclear site of Iran. 

NCRI-US provided detailed information about the continuation of work by the organization responsible for nuclear weaponization, known as SPND, highlighting once again that Iran continues to adamantly pursue a nuclear weapon.

At the press conference, NCRIUS Deputy Director, Alireza Jafarzadeh, using a power point presentation, showed maps, graphs, and charts of the covert organization as well as names of individuals involved in the weaponization program.

At the new site, named “Research Academy,” the Iranian regime has used a military facility in Parchin to hide its activities and continue work on weaponization.

Soona Samsami, the U.S. Representative of the NCRI, called on the IAEA to immediately inspect the nuclear sites, and called on the international community to halt Iran’s enrichment program and called for dismantling all covert sites of Iran involved in nuclear weapons research and development.

According to a report by IFP, a number of Iranian officials including President Hassan Rouhani, Secretary of Supreme National Security Council Ali Shamkhani, and IRGC General Hossein Salami said Trump’s victory will have no influence on Iran’s policy.

“US policies towards Iran never change with the election of a new president,” General Salami said, noting that both Democrats and Republicans consider Iran as a threat and enemy as the US foreign policy is independent of the ruling party.

Spokesman for Atomic Energy Organization of Iran (AEOI) Behrouz Kamalvandi also said that Iran is ready for any kind of development.

“Iran has long-term plans [for its nuclear industry] … and try to continue the implementation of the nuclear deal,” he added.

There were also negative and positive reactions to Trump and his election as the new US president.

Chairman of Iran’s Expediency Council Ayatollah Akbar Hashemi Rafsanjani described Trump as a dangerous figure who does not believe in principles and easily violates the rules and regulations.

“Trump is considered a big threat, and his radical moves in recent years prove it,” he went on to say.

However, Hesamodin Ashna, the cultural advisor to President Rouhani, hailed the election of Trump as an unknown figure, and described it as an opportunity for a new beginning.

In a post on his Facebook account, Ashna referred to Trump’s victory speech, and highlighted the positive and different words and tone he used.

“We hope White House leaders would keep to their promises and show their commitment … instead of focusing on hostilities and differences,” Ashna added.

“In the Arab world and Turkey, Iran was seen as Obama’s favourite, and this was a barrier to JCPOA implementation. However, we can now tell Iran’s regional partners and neighbours that peace is not a gift given by ultra-regional superpowers. We are the ones who should create it.”

Ali Motahari, the outspoken Vice-Speaker of Iran’s Parliament, is one of those who believes Trump’s victory will be to Iran’s benefit.

“Given the stances Trump held during his campaigns, I think his presidency will be more beneficial to Iran than Clinton’s,” Motahari noted.

“Trump is more honest, and his stances on Syria were good. He also does not hold a good view of Saudi Arabia, and is willing to have good ties with Russia,” he noted.

“Even his opposition to the nuclear deal will also be to Iran’s benefit, because they cannot do anything in practice,” the Iranian lawmaker added. Read the full story here.

Russia has filed no applications with the United Nations Security Council for an approval of sales of Su-30 fighter jet to Iran, hence, the United States’ threats to clock this deal is just a speculation, a well-informed source at the Russian foreign ministry told TASS on Tuesday.

"The Russian side has filed no applications with the United Nations Security Council for approval of sales of Su-30 fighter jets to Iran. There is no such item on the agenda," he said.

"The weapons embargo against Teheran exists no longer," the source said. "A new, authorization-based procedure of supplies of weapons and spare parts to Iran has been established. It is applicable to seven categories of the United Nations register of conventional arms. These categories include in particular warplanes, assault helicopters, warships, artillery systems, missiles, etc. In formal terms, their supplies are not banned either but a corresponding application is to be endorsed by the United Nations Security Council."

As for the S-300 missile systems, there are not on the above register, the source pointed. "No permits are needed for sales of such systems to Iran," he said. "It is not even necessary to notify anyone."

Earlier on Tuesday, Shannon, the U.S. Under Secretary of State for Political Affairs, said the United States will use its right to veto in the United States Security Council to block sales of Russia weapons, such as Su-30 fighter jets, T-90 tanks and combat helicopters, to Iran

"The sale of Su-30 fighter aircraft is prohibited under UNSCR 2231 without the approval of the UN Security Council and we would block the approval of any sale of fighter aircraft under the restrictions," Shannon told Foreign Relations Committee hearing.

After taking Danny and four-year old Einat hostage, Kuntar and his group took them down to the beach. Samir Kuntar quickly shot Danny in the back and then drowned him in the Mediterranean Sea to ensure his death. While Kuntar drowned Danny, he forced terrified Einat to watch and cry. According to eyewitnesses, "Danny was murdered in front of Einat so that his death would be the last sight she would ever see." Little Einat would not have that horrible memory in her head for long. In recent years, the notorious killer was allied with Tehran against Israel; still, the Lebanese militia will retaliate — the only question is when.

As has been the case following previous alleged Israeli airstrikes, Hezbollah and its chief Hassan Nasrallah are now faced with a thorny dilemma: to retaliate or not to retaliate, or perhaps more accurately, how to retaliate, since the response is sure to come.

The assassination of Samir Kuntar, who became a member of Hezbollah after his release from Israeli prison in 2008, is another in a series of blows to the Shiite Lebanese militia, on both an operational and a symbolic level.

The attack attributed to the Israel Air Force, in which missiles were launched at a building in a neighborhood of Damascus that has a high concentration of Druse residents, and in which additional Hezbollah field commanders were killed, would constitute a major intelligence achievement for Israel. It is not simple to obtain real-time information on the entry into a safe house by terror operatives who know that they are wanted targets for Israel.

It bares noting that despite Samir Kuntar's terrorist past and his involvement in the murder of Danny Haran and his daughter Einat, as well as two police officers on the beach in Nahariya, the considerations standing before those who carried out the operation were mainly connected to his current involvement in attempts to organize terror attacks on Israel from the Syrian Golan Heights.

In other words, the reason for his assassination is not his past actions, but rather the danger he currently poses and his potential to continue to carry out terror activities against Israel.

In recent months, Kuntar was working under the guidance of Iran’s Revolutionary Guards, and had slightly distanced himself from Hezbollah. In this sense, one could say that Kuntar died as a mercenary for Iran rather than a model Hezbollah fighter. Farhan al-Shaalan, a second commander listed among the dead in the strike, was also enlisted by the Iranians rather than Hezbollah.

Still, because Kuntar was significant to Hezbollah, which had won his release from prison, a retaliation against Israel for the strike is likely to come. He’s identified with the Shiite group despite being Druze, and had been spotted at various events organized by Hezbollah.

In the past few months, Hezbollah has launched a massive draft of youths 17 and older to make up for its losses. However, the recruits are not at the same level as the trained and sophisticated fighters that filled its ranks just a few years ago. The thousands of young recruits still require months of training, and Hezbollah is thus unlikely for now to seek out war with Israel. Brent crude oil dropped towards $55 a barrel on Tuesday as Iran and six world powers entered a final day of talks over a nuclear deal that could see the energy-rich country increase oil exports to world markets.

Disagreements on enrichment research and the pace of lifting sanctions remained as hurdles that could scupper a deal to end a 12-year standoff between Iran and the West.

Oil prices extended two days of declines as investors said a deal in Lausanne could lead to an increase in Iranian crude supply to a market already weighed down by oversupply due to rising U.S. shale production.

"If the flood gates to Iranian crude open, (prices) will probably test this year's lows again," Daniel Ang, analyst at Singapore-based brokerage Phillip Futures, told Reuters Global Oil Forum.

Iran could increase oil production by around 500,000 barrels per day (bpd) within six months if sanctions are removed, and by an additional 700,000 bpd within another year, according to estimates by Facts Global Energy.

Western sanctions have limited Iranian crude oil exports to around 1 million bpd, and shipping sources say Iran is storing at least 30 million barrels of oil on a supertankers. Hmmmm....All that is left for Iran is to close the Strait of Hormuz a few months after US Shale production and Canadian tar sands stopped.
