U.S. gun makers led by Sturm Ruger & Co. and Smith & Wesson Holding Corp. (SWHC) churned out a record number of firearms in 2012, government data show, continuing a trend of robust production during Democratic presidencies.

More than 8.57 million guns were produced in 2012, up 31 percent from 6.54 million in 2011, according to data released this week by the U.S. Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, which has been tracking the statistics since 1986.

Almost as many guns -- 26.1 million -- were produced during Democrat Barack Obama’s first term as president as during the entire eight-year presidency of his Republican predecessor, George W. Bush, the ATF data show. Read the full story here.

US Senate Tells Obama 'No' to Implementing UN Arms Trade Treaty.(GP).

One of the key pieces of international law that needs to be in place before the UN can take over the world is to control all weapons, including handguns, rifles, shotguns, semi-automatic and automatic weapons and ammunition. Over the past few years, the UN has been pushing one treaty that will help to accomplish that goal. It is the UN Arms Trade Treaty.

The UN Arms Trade Treaty is a treaty that would regulate the international sale and transfer of all conventional weapons throughout the world. Conventional weapons are sea and land mines, rockets, missiles, cluster munitions, non-nuclear bombs, shells, small arms and light weapons. By small arms, they mean handguns, rifles and shotguns of all kinds, regardless of their use or design.

Both Secretary of State John Kerry and President Barack Obama fully supported the Arms Trade Treaty and now are looking to the US Senate to ratify the treaty. At this time, it does not appear that there is enough support in the Senate to muster up 67 out of 100 votes that is required to ratify any international treaty.

As horrific and irresponsible the omnibus spending bill is, the Senate saw to place one provision in it that forbids any funding be used for the implementation of the UN Arms Trade Treaty without the Senate first ratifying the treaty.

Sen. Jerry Moran (R-KS) stated that they purposely placed Section 7075 in the omnibus bill because President Obama and his administration can’t be trusted to try to bypass Senate ratification like he does with so many other pieces of legislation. 

He said that the Senate has repeatedly warned the president against any negotiations with the United Nations without first consulting with the Senate.

He further told the press after they passed the omnibus spending bill: "One might expect the President to pay little or no attention to Republican senators, but a significant number of Republican and Democrat - more than 50 - senators, on numerous occasions, by letter and by vote, have told the President not to negotiate an Arms Trade Treaty and not to expect the Senate to ratify,"

"The sad fact is, we have little faith that this administration will not try to implement an Arms Trade Treaty in the absence of ratification."

As often as Obama has violated the US Constitution by bypassing Congress by making, deleting and changes laws on his own without legal authority or approval, we have to wonder now what action Obama will try to take to bypass the required Senate ratification of the UN Arms Trade Treaty.

Lawmakers in Washington State have accidentally written a bill permitting police to invade private homes for the purpose of confiscating “illegal” guns and accessories, such as magazines that hold over 10 rounds.

According to Senate Bill 5737, introduced on February 13th by Democrat State Senators Murray, Kohl-Welles, and Kline, no one may possess an “assault weapon” or the combination of a semi-automatic pistol or rifle capable of using a detachable magazine AND any magazine that can hold more than 10 rounds of ammo.

Happily, however, you ARE allowed to possess an UNLOADED assault weapon “…for the purpose of permanently relinquishing it to a law enforcement agency of the state.” (Pg. 6)

Naturally, the statute would NOT apply to police, members of law enforcement in the state, or to federal authorities; in short, the oft-referred to “only ones.” That is, the only ones, the political ruling class tells us, who can be trusted with firearms. However, if one happens to own an “assault weapon” prior to the effective date of the legislation, he may keep it IF he agrees to “safely and securely store the assault weapon.” And by the way, “THE SHERIFF OF THE COUNTY MAY, NO MORE THAN ONCE PER YEAR, CONDUCT AN INSPECTION TO ENSURE COMPLIANCE…” Not surprisingly, safe and secure storage is not defined in the bill. (Pg. 7) Also not surprisingly, this language was quickly deleted from the bill immediately upon lawmakers learning of the public outrage their little foray into dictatorship had spawned.

Yet, in order to provide cover for the bill’s sponsors and fellow liberals, duplicitous “journalist” Danny Westneat is hoping to sell Washington gun owners on the laughable story that the whole thing was just an unfortunate mistake! According to Westneat, one of the bill’s sponsors, Democrat Adam Kline “…did not know the bill authorized police searches because he had not read it closely before signing on.” Naturally, ALL prospective laws should be written without paying much attention to what’s in them! And the PRIME sponsor, Democrat Ed Murray, admitted that the language was “probably unconstitutional.” “I have to admit that shouldn’t be in there,” allowed the munificent liberal.

PROBABLY unconstitutional? Here is the 4th Amendment to the Constitution:

"The right of the people to be secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects, against unreasonable searches and seizures, shall not be violated, and no Warrants shall issue, but upon probable cause, supported by Oath or affirmation, and particularly describing the place to be searched, and the persons or things to be seized."

And by the way, MR. Murray, how were your “only ones” to know which homes to enter and search? Could it be that mandatory, statewide gun registration was to become the next in your series of “common sense” gun laws?

But even with the Orwellian language now removed, SB 5737 is an affront to the God-given rights of the American people. After all, the bill still states that, should one inherit an “assault weapon,” he must either dispose of it by allowing law enforcement to confiscate it or permanently disable it. It is government literally authorizing the theft or destruction of personal property. Anyone who objects will be subject to one year in prison.

As for the claim by the bill’s authors that it was a mistake, a misstep? “It’s a “misstep” because they said what they want to do. They gave away what their plan is.” The truth is, “it’s not a misstep, it’s the next step.”Read the full story here.

General Assembly is considering a resolution to convene “the Final United Nations Conference on the Arms Trade Treaty” in New York next March.
In July, a U.N. conference to negotiate an Arms Trade Treaty (ATT) collapsed when it became obvious that the draft treaty was not ready for prime time. But as I wrote at the time, the conference’s collapse was “not the end of the process. It is the end of a phase.” That next phase of the ATT is now well underway.
After the conference fell apart, 90 nations—led by Mexico—stated their desire to secure an ATT “as soon as possible.” For a while, it seemed possible that, egged on by nongovernmental organizations (NGOs) that blamed the July fiasco on the U.S., they might try to push a treaty through the U.N. General Assembly, an approach that would certainly have produced a treaty the U.S. could never ratify. But cooler heads, and the marginally saner option of the First Committee resolution, prevailed.

The U.S. has stated that it “strongly supports convening a short UN conference next spring” to negotiate “a workable and implementable ATT.” 

The EU has spoken to similar effect, as have many other nations. Thus, the resolution is almost certain to be adopted, both in the First Committee and the General Assembly.
Its terms are not surprising: The March conference will operate on the basis of consensus, meaning that the U.S. or any other participating nation can block the adoption of a final text. It will use the July text as “as the basis for future work.”
The most interesting aspects of the resolution are that the use of the July text is “without prejudice to the right of delegations to put forward additional proposals.” This is logical—if the July text had been acceptable to all, the ATT would exist today. But it reflects the fact that quite a few nations (and NGOs) strongly dislike the current text.
The Non-Aligned Movement wants the ATT to include civilian firearms, while one NGO refers to the current draft as “flawed enough to completely undermine the very reason for negotiating an ATT.”
And that leads to another interesting aspect of the resolution: It refers to the March conference as “final.”
In other words, if the March conference cannot agree on a text they like, the treaty supporters will, as Ireland put it, “consider other options.”
This threat, which has always been inherent in the ATT negotiations at the U.N., is now coming into the open: If the negotiations don’t produce what the supporters view as the correct result, they will break out of the U.N. and negotiate a treaty on their own, as they did on land mines and cluster munitions. That process would be guaranteed to produce a bad treaty, and even if the U.S. decided not to participate in the negotiations, having another bad treaty in circulation could not be good for the U.S.
So the stakes at the U.N. now—and in New York in March—are high, and no likely outcome will be fully satisfactory from the U.S. point of view. All the more reason, therefore, for Congress to return to the issue and to set out again their concerns about the flaws in the current draft of the ATT and those inherent in any ATT. The worst course of action would be for the U.S. to drift into a position where it feels pressured to sign an ATT that is incompatible with U.S. policies and liberties.Read the full story here.

David Keene, president of the NRA, told Secrets, "the president has ratified what we have been saying" in ads and mailings to pro-gun voters. "See, he peeked out and finally said what he wants," said Keene.
In his 2008 campaign and while president, Obama has distanced himself from gun issues, aware that it could hurt him politically in key battleground states. But when pressed about gun violence during the Tuesday town hall-style presidential debate, he fully embraced a Clinton-style assault weapons ban. Clinton's ban expired in 2004. Suggesting a ban not just on semi-automatic weapons like the AR-15 but maybe even handguns, the most popular rifle in America, the president said,

"What I'm trying to do is to get a broader conversation about how do we reduce the violence generally. Part of it is seeing if we can get an assault weapons ban reintroduced. But part of it is also looking at other sources of the violence. Because frankly, in my hometown of Chicago, there's an awful lot of violence and they're not using AK-47s. They're using cheap handguns." 

Keene said that Obama's statement was a "strategic error on his part" because it blew up the president's pro-Second Amendment rhetoric. "He knows it's politically dangerous to take on the Second Amendment," said Keene. "We have credibility when we say that Barack Obama is a threat to your rights. But that credibility is obviously enhanced 10-fold when Barack Obama, in a moment of weakness, says, 'Yeah, as a matter of fact I am.' And that's what he did," said Keene. Vibes.It has long been known that there are more veterans who end up committing suicide than there are who actually die on the battlefield. This fact has been so unsettling for many people in the mainstream because it exposes the true nature of what war is all about. When the people on the front lines are so depressed about what they have seen and what they have been forced to do, it opens up a whole list of questions that people in the US have been running from for over a decade.

As of last month, 270 active-duty service members killed themselves this year alone, and half were from the Army. Instead of targeting the underlying psychological issues and traumatic memories that are pushing veterans towards suicide, the establishment has been putting forward false solutions that just cover up the symptoms, instead of addressing the causal factors behind the depression.

As suicides continue to rise in 2012, the Defense Department officials are developing a suicide prevention campaign, part of which will encourage soldiers to give up their weapons. Under current legislation when troops are identified as high risk, commanders have the authority to confiscate their service weapons, but they can not ask them to hand over their personal firearms.

These new policies that have been suggested by congress and the pentagon are hoping to change that, giving commanders and law enforcement the ability to confiscate their personal arms. This is by far the most offensive and alarming attempt by the US government to lower veteran suicides, but it is not the first time that they have put forward a solution to this problem which misses the point entirely. Earlier this year the US Army awarded a scientist at the Indiana University School of Medicine $3 million to develop a nasal spray that eclipses suicidal thoughts.Read the full story here.

He says he thinks someone deliberately let the gunman inside once the movie started. Here's what he told TV station KCNC this morning live on their newscast. "As I was sitting down to get my seat, I noticed that a person came up to the front row, the front right, sat down, and as credits were going, it looked like he got a phone call. He went out toward the emergency exit doorway, which I thought was unusual to take a phone call. And it seemed like he probably pried it open, or probably did not let it latch all the way.
