Belgium has raised security alert to level 3, the last but one level of alert in the country, after a terror threat warning was issued ahead of another anti-Islam film, mocking the Prophet Mohammed, local media reported Friday. The Innocent Prophet was produced by Imran Firasat, a Pakistani living in Spain, and is said to depict the Islamic prophet in a negative light. Mr. Firasat confessed he was inspired by the scandalous US-made film, The Innocence of Muslims, which had sparked riots in the Arab world, with crowds protesting outside American embassies. The federal Crisis Centre has called for extra vigilance on the part of all police units in Belgium in preparation for the release of a new anti-Islam film next Friday. The body that keeps tabs on the terrorist threat in Belgium, the OCAD, has just heightened the country's terror alert level from two to three, meaning 'severe'. A five minute-long promotional video on the Internet announces the new film by a Pakistani living in Spain. The action led to fierce protests from Belgium Sanoma Media, which publishes the real women's magazines. Vlaams Belang, Filip Dewinter ringleader decided Thursday afternoon to withdraw the folders with the parodies. According to Dewinter, the humorous intended message got through. Iraqi-American woman beaten to death in California in possible 'hatecrime'.(TGM).A woman from Iraq who was found beaten next to a threatening note saying “go back to your country” has died, and police are investigating the possibility of a hate crime.
Hanif Mohebi, the director of the San Diego chapter of the Council on American-Islamic Relations, said Shaima Alawadi was taken off life support Saturday afternoon.
“The family is in shock at the moment. They're still trying to deal with what happened,” said Mr. Mohebi, who met with family members.
Ms. Alawadi, a 32-year-old mother of five, had been hospitalized since her 17-year-old daughter found her unconscious in the dining room of the family's suburban San Diego house on Wednesday, Police Lieutenant Steve Shakowski said.
“A hate crime is one of the possibilities, and we will be looking at that,” Lt. Mark Coit said. “We don't want to focus on only one issue and miss something else.”
The daughter, Fatima Al Himidi, told KUSI-TV her mother had been beaten on the head repeatedly with a tire iron, and that the note said “go back to your country, you terrorist.”
Addressing the camera, the tearful daughter asked: “You took my mother away from me. You took my best friend away from me. Why? Why did you do it?”
Police said the family had found a similar note earlier this month but did not report it to authorities.
A family friend, Sura Alzaidy, told UT San Diego that the attack apparently occurred after the father took the younger children to school. Ms. Alzaidy told the newspaper the family is from Iraq, and that Ms. Alawadi was a “respectful modest muhajiba,” meaning she wears the traditional hijab, a head scarf.
The family had lived in the house for only a few weeks, after moving from Michigan, Ms. Alzaidy said. Ms. Alzaidy told the newspaper her father and Ms. Alawadi's husband had previously worked together in San Diego as private contractors for the U.S. Army, serving as cultural advisers to train soldiers who were going to be deployed to the Middle East.
Mr. Mohebi said the family had been in the United States since the mid-1990s. Their hands poke each other routinely. Life is good for Isa’a and Rina, two college girls who have found young love.“Life is good,” Isa’a, the more outspoken of the two, told Bikyamasr.com. “We live together as roommates, our families don’t know and we can just enjoy ourselves.”
But they are worried about the new push in the country to crackdown on the LGBT community. “Yes, it is very scary. I mean can you imagine if our parents found us in bed together? It would be the end of us, really,” said Rina, her activist side coming out.
But for the two youthful girls of 19-years-old, if Assistant Professor of Psychology at Universiti Islam Antarabangsa Malaysi Meriam Omar Din found out about the two lesbians, she would attempt to put them through what he is calling an “Islamic core group” to deal with homosexual relationships.
According to her, the new “group” would aim to “guide Muslims inclined towards same-sex relationships, such as lesbians, gays, bisexuals and transexuals (the LGBT community) back to the right path.”
She argued that more Muslims in the country are “engaging in unnatural sexual activities.”
The girls laugh the professor off. “She probably just is unhappy with her husband, or doesn’t have someone to love and that is why she is so angry. Or she is a lesbian and can’t admit it,” argued Isa’a, with her partner Rina laughing.
Omar Din, however, seems quite serious about “battling” the LGBT community, which in recent years has become more open and public with their life.“The core group could somewhat curtail the trend. From what I gathered through communicating with LGBT, not all of them are happy with the life they are leading.“They were drawn into the situation because of sexuality problems, low self-esteem and immoral lifestyle,” she told Bernama here.
She said society had been tolerant towards the community which comprised some very talented people in the arts, as could be seen by the willingness of relevant agencies to employ them.
“Getting them closer to Islam is an appropriate approach to detach them from same-sex dependence,” she said, dismissing social websites as a factor.“Unnatural sex was already rooted before the existence of social websites. In the past, those who suffered from an identity crisis would run away from home and go to Chow Kit because they knew there is a group there that would accept them.”The professor said the LGBT would stay away from mainstream society and join the cluster that they believed could accept and support them.“They rebel collectively against society by wearing clothes or do things against the norm.“They deteriorate further by abandoning Islam because they know their activities are against the religion’s teachings and as such, it is a cause for anxiety among religious circles, as well as Muslims,” she added.
What’s ironic is that both Isa’a and Rina said they were devout Muslims who attend mosque regularly and often find themselves together, studying their faith.“You know, there might be a lot of LGBT who are anti-religion, but I find no contradiction to our lifestyle and our live in the Qur’an, so we are happily Muslims and proud,” added Rina.Hmmmm......Read the full story here.

Alzheimer's sufferer Dorothy Griffiths, 87, was found sitting down after staff heard a bang and a carer went to the office for help to lift her.But agency nurse Abdul Bhutto, who was in charge, said they would have to wait.
Carer Zoe Shaw told the Sheffield hearing: "It took between five and ten minutes because he was praying upstairs in the office on his prayer mat. A staff member told me we had to wait for him to finish."
An ambulance was not called for nearly four hours after Mrs Griffiths fell from bed and cut her head and suffered a gash to her hip at the privately-run Valley Park Nursing Home in Wombwell, near Barnsley.
She died later in hospital. Mr Bhutto failed to appear at the inquest and a summons had to be issued for him to attend the resumed hearing later in the year.
Assistant deputy coroner Donald Coutts-Wood said he had contacted him during a recess and he denied being the duty nurse that night and said he had been there on a course.
Mrs Griffiths, the widow of former Barnsley footballer Steve Griffiths, who used to live in Wombwell, had been a resident at the home since 2009 and died last November.
She was put to bed at 9.45pm on October 24 and checked checked every two hours, according to Zoe Shaw.The old lady was using the toilet at 4am and Mrs Shaw went to an office to fill in paperwork.
She said Mrs Griffiths was not prone to falls and was not considered "at risk".
She and another carer found her on the floor and Mrs Shaw went to get help from Mr Bhutto. He was the most senior nurse on night duty at the home, run by the Mimosa Healthcare Group, because the senior carer was unable to work havning been on duty for six of the previous seven nights.
When Mr Bhutto arrived he checked the pensioner's limbs, took her blood presssure and pulse while she was still on the floor and told the carers to put her back into bed.
But instead Mrs Shaw, worried that she might fall again, washed the old lady, dressed her and took her to the office while she carried on filling forms.
At about 5.45am she took her to the lounge and said she was "talking fine" and walking around.
But at breakfast-time when the residents were being offered a cup of tea Mrs Griffiths was found unresponsive and an ambulance was called at about 7.30am.
Mrs Shaw, who broke down and wept in the witness box, said she would have called an ambulance immediately after the fall but had only since discovered that staff could override a nurses' decision.Hmmmmm.......Read the full story here.

Dante's epic is "offensive and discriminatory" and has no place in a modern classroom, said Valentina Sereni, the group's president.
Divided into three parts – Hell, Purgatory and Heaven – the poem consists of 100 cantos, of which half a dozen were marked out for particular criticism by the group.
It represents Islam as a heresy and Mohammed as a schismatic and refers to Jews as greedy, scheming moneylenders and traitors, Miss Sereni told the Adnkronos news agency.
"The Prophet Mohammed was subjected to a horrific punishment – his body was split from end to end so that his entrails dangled out, an image that offends Islamic culture," she said.
Homosexuals are damned by the work as being "against nature" and condemned to an eternal rain of fire in Hell.
"We do not advocate censorship or the burning of books, but we would like it acknowledged, clearly and unambiguously, that in the Divine Comedy there is racist, Islamophobic and anti-Semitic content. Art cannot be above criticism," Miss Sereni said.
Schoolchildren and university students who studied the work lacked "the filters" to appreciate its historical context and were being fed a poisonous diet of anti-Semitism and racism, the group said.
It called for the Divine Comedy to be removed from schools and universities or at least have its more offensive sections fully explained.
The remarks prompted Italian cultural associations, actors who have performed the epic and even gay groups to rush to the defence of the poet.It was wrong to judge Dante by the standards of today, said Giorgio Rembado, the president of an Italian head teachers' association."Works of literature need to be placed in the historical context," he said.Banning the Divine Comedy would be "senseless".
