Turkish Official: U.S. sanctions meant to stop Iran's progress, Iran to Become World's Leading Industrial State in 10 Years. (Fars).
Head of Izmir Chamber of Commerce Akram Demir Tash hailed Iran's progress in the industrial field, specially in the energy sector, and said that the country will become one of the world's leading industrial states in the next decade.
"Iran will be among the world's top 20 industrial and advanced countries within the next 10 years due to the country's energy infrastructures," Demir Tash told reporters in Assalouyeh city in the Southern Bushehr province on Sunday.
Demir Tash pointed to Iran's massive progress in oil and gas projects of South Pars, and said, "After seeing these advances we realized that the US has imposed (unilateral) sanctions against Iran for the fear that Iran might overtake them in the oil and gas industries."
The Turkish official reiterated that South Pars is an important and influential energy zone in the world, and said, "South Pars is not only Iran's energy capital, but it can play the same role in the world (in future)."
The South Pars gas field, divided into 28 phases, is located in the Persian Gulf on the common border between Iran and Qatar. The field is estimated to hold 14 trillion cubic meters of gas as well as 18 billion barrels of condensates.
The field covers an area of 9,700 square kilometers, 3,700 square kilometers of which lie in Iran's territorial waters in the Persian Gulf. The remaining 6,000 square kilometers, better known as the North Dome, are located in Qatar's territorial waters.Hmmm.....Who needs enemies with an 'ally' like Turkey.
