PYD co-chair Saleh Moslem: "50 tons of ammo received, We do not attack anyone but we will defend ourselves against those who attack us” (ANF).
PYD co-chair Saleh Moslem confirmed that they have recently received weapons from U.S. forces and said “We do not attack anyone but we will defend ourselves against those who attack us” in response to the threats uttered by Turkish Prime Minister.PYD co-chair Saleh Moslem answered ANF's questions regarding the recent airdrops of weapons to the Kurdish region by the U.S. and Turkish Prime Minister's threat that “We could intervene the PYD”.
Moslem told ANF that the weapons sent to them are being used against the ISIS and will not be used anywhere else other than Rojava. He called on Turkey to “abandon the policy of enmity”.
Giving information about the weapons airdropped by the U.S. Forces to the region under their control, Moslem said that “A total of 50 tons of ammunition was airdropped for us and the groups we are in alliance with. This is just the beginning; more weapons are to be sent”
Stressing that Turkish PM Davutoğlu had better abandon purposeless threats, Moslem said “These weapons have been given not only to us but also to the Arab groups we act together. Claims that the weapons will be used against Turkey or in some other places are just a distortion. These weapons suffice only our needs. We defend ourselves against the ISIS with these weapons and it is by no means the case that they will go to PKK or be used in Turkey”.
Regarding Turkish Prime Minister Davutoğlu's threats that “we could intervene against the PYD”, Moslem said “If Turkey attacks Rojava, we will defend ourselves. We do not attack anyone, but we will defend ourselves against those who attack us. We have always called Turkey to fraternity and never been engaged in an unfavorable attitude towards them”.
Regarding the question if the PYD and Turkey had any contacts recently, Moslem asked “How can we ever have talks with those who call us ‘terrorist’ every day?”
PYD co-chair lastly stated that operations against Raqqa and Jarablus are on the table and that they are working only for the timing of the operations at the moment. He added that Russia would be positive about the operation.
