Photographs of Kurdish fighters' bodies suggest chemical weapons use by ISIS in Kobane region.

Photographs of Kurdish fighters' bodies suggest chemical weapons use by ISIS in Kobane region. HT: JPost.

Photographs obtained by the Middle East Review of International Affairs (MERIA Journal) which were published on Sunday appear to support claims that the Islamic State used chemical weapons against Kurdish fighters in the Kobani enclave on at least one occasion in the past.

The Syrian town near the Turkish border is currently under siege and in danger of falling under Islamic State control, bringing on fears of a potential massacre.

The current siege of Kobani is not the first attempt by Islamic State to capture the town. It has been suggested that during a previous attempt, in July, IS unleashed a chemical agent on Kurdish fighters.

Kurdish activists had previously claimed that the chemical attack occurred on July 12, in the village of Avdiko in Kobani. According to health minister of the Kurdish authority in Kobani, Nisan Ahmed, the bodies of three Kurdish fighters killed in battles with IS were not damaged by bullets, but instead were marked by "burns and white spots...without any visible wounds or external bleeding.” Hmmmm.......Kurds , Turkey...and chemical weapons have a long history going back.Read the full story here.

People's Defense Units YPG warns Turkey to stop supporting al-Qaeda affiliated armed groups ISIS and al-Nusra Front.

People's Defense Units YPG warns Turkey to stop supporting al-Qaeda affiliated armed groups ISIS and al-Nusra Front.(Firat).
People's Defense Units (YPG) headquarters has released a statement denouncing the Turkish state's support to al-Qaeda affiliated armed groups ISIS (Islamic State of Iraq and al Sham) and al-Nusra Front.
YPG pointed out that Turkey has provided support to the armed groups after they suffered a heavy defeat in fierce clashes with YPG fighters near the Susik village of Tal Abyad (Girê Spî) city of west Kurdistan in recent days.

YPG remarked that two Kurdish fighters, Baran and Cuma, were killed as a result of the fire Turkish soldiers opened from the Cuma military post targeting the Susik village today.

Commenting the attack as the manifestation of Turkish state's support to armed groups and direct involvement in the attacks against West Kurdistan, YPG warned the Turkish state against negative consequences in the event that it continued to support the armed groups. YPG urged the Turkish state to "end its dirty actions violating the security of the region".

Sixty members of the gang groups have been killed in today's clashes with YPG fighters around the Susik village, 10 km away from the Tal Abyad city bordering Turkey.
The armed groups which have reportedly started to retreat from the region have once again carried their casualties to Turkish hospitals in six ambulances today.

Some 81 gang members were killed in the "Martyr Dilovan and Aleppo Martyrs" operation YPG launched on 15 September in Tal Abyad (Girê Spî) as part of the "Şehîd Çekjin Revolutionary Operation" they started early September in response to the attacks of al-Qaeda linked Islamist gang groups fighting against them. According to hospital sources, over 40 wounded members of the gang groups were rushed to Turkish hospitals with ambulances.

Turkish Interior Ministry says ‘Kurdistan’ name illegal.

Turkish Interior Ministry says ‘Kurdistan’ name illegal.(HD).

Turkey’s Interior Ministry has warned an association against using the word “Kurdistan” in its name, stating that it would be a crime in accordance with Article 14 of the Turkish Constitution and Article 302 of the Turkish Criminal Code.
The ministry asked the “Kurdistan Youth Movement Association” to leave out Kurdistan from the name after the Diyarbakır Governor’s Office applied to the ministry with regards to the issue, which left the governor’s office unsure of what steps to take.

The ministry said the use of “Kurdistan” in the name would fall under Article 203, which defines the disruption of the country’s unity as a crime, including the formation of any organization with the same goal.

The response to the governor’s office added that not every word, despite not being previously banned by law, could be used as desired to name foundations.

But association member Roger Çager said the association would be formed as planned, under the name of the Kurdistan Youth Movement Association on the grounds that the group did not violate articles 14 and 302 due to its unarmed nature.

We will not change our name. Once the legal term is completed, there will be a lawsuit for shutting it down. We will fight against that. And if we can’t achieve anything through internal judicial avenues, we will carry this way all the way up the European Court of Human Rights,” Çager said.

Hmmm....I guess it's not illegal for Kurds to die while fighting Assad in Syria?
