ETIAS - A 13-euro Visa entry fee for the EU?
ETIAS - A 13-euro Visa entry fee for the EU? (SG).
The EU is planning to massively increase its border controls. Those who want to enter have to register, or apply for a visa. The goal is more security, though EU citizens will be spared.
Australia’s had one for a long time, and the United States has had one since 2007: An electronic entry system for travellers who don’t need a visa. Now, the EU wants to implement such a system in order to have better control over who is actually entering and leaving the bloc.
In the US, the online electronic registration system is known as “ESTA.”
In Europe, it will be known as “Etias” (European Travel Information and Authorisation System).
The EU Commission is currently carrying out a feasibility study to determine how Etias can be set up at hundreds of airports and border crossings. The legislative process would then begin at the end of the year.
EU interior ministers called for a digital registration system last year following the terror attacks in Paris. But the system, designed to close recognized security loopholes, has been in planning for much longer. Now, it’s going to become a reality.
Similar to the US system, travelers who don’t need a visa for the EU will be required to register online. A fee will be charged for the process; according to EU officials, it could be anywhere between 13 and 50 euro ($15 and $56) (19 Can$). Based on the current 30 million travelers from non-EU countries who do not need a visa, that would create income of between 390 million to 1.5 billion euro per year.
The number of people who don’t need a visa but who will have to pay this “entry fee” could increase considerably in the next few years. After Brexit, millions of British people travelling to the EU for vacations or business trips will also have to pay and register with Etias. The same goes for people from Turkey or Ukraine, in the event that the EU grants them visa-free travel. According to Camino Mortera-Martinez of the Brussels-based think tank, the Center for European Reform, it’s a bad deal. “It would be damaging for British business,” she told Britain’s Guardian newspaper. Boston Jihadi Tsarnaev Considered so dangerous Saudis denied him entry to Mecca, sent warning letter to U.S. Officials.
Boston Jihadi Tsarnaev Considered so dangerous Saudis denied him entry to Mecca, sent warning letter to U.S. Officials.HT: TundraTabloids.(DM).By DAVID MARTOSKO and THE AMERICAN MEDIA INSTITUTE.
- Saudis developed intelligence separately from Russia, which also warned the U.S. about the accused Boston bomber.
- A letter to the Department of Homeland Security allegedly named Tsarnaev and three Pakistanis as potential jihadis worthy of U.S. investigation.
- Red flags from Saudi Arabia to have included Tsarnaev’s name and information about a planned explosive attack on a major U.S. city.
- Saudi foreign minister, national security chief both met with Obama in the oval office in early 2013
The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia sent a written warning about accused Boston Marathon bomber Tamerlan Tsarnaev to the U.S. Department of Homeland Security in 2012, long before pressure-cooker blasts killed three and injured hundreds, according to a senior Saudi government official with direct knowledge of the document.
The Saudi warning, the official told MailOnline, was separate from the multiple red flags raised by Russian intelligence in 2011, and was based on human intelligence developed independently in Yemen.
Citing security concerns, the Saudi government also denied an entry visa to the elder Tsarnaev brother in December 2011, when he hoped to make a pilgrimage to Mecca, the source said. Tsarnaev’s plans to visit Saudi Arabia have not been previously disclosed. The Saudis' warning to the U.S. government was also shared with the British government. 'It was very specific’ and warned that 'something was going to happen in a major U.S. city,' the Saudi official said during an extensive interview.
It 'did name Tamerlan specifically,' he added. The 'government-to-government' letter, which he said was sent to the Department of Homeland Security at the highest level, did not name Boston or suggest a date for his planned attack.
If true, the account will produce added pressure on the Homeland Security department and the White House to explain their collective inaction after similar warnings were offered about Tsarnaev by the Russian government.
A DHS official denied, however, that the agency received any such warning from Saudi intelligence about Tamerlan Tsarnaev.
'DHS has no knowledge of any communication from the Saudi government regarding information on the suspects in the Boston Marathon Bombing prior to the attack,' MailOnline learned from one Homeland Security official who declined to be named in this report.
The White House took a similar view. 'We and other relevant U.S. government agencies have no record of such a letter being received,' said Caitlin Hayden, a spokesperson for the president’s National Security Council.
The letter likely came to DHS via the Saudi Ministry of Interior, the agency tasked with protecting the Saudi kingdom’s homeland.
A Homeland Security official confirmed Tuesday evening on the condition of anonymity that the 2012 letter exists, saying he had heard of the Saudi communication before MailOnline inquired about it.
An aide to a Republican member of the House Homeland Security Committee speculated Tuesday about why the Obama administration contradicted the knowledgeable Saudi official.
‘It is possible the Department of Homeland Security received the information from the Saudi government but never passed it on to the White House,’ the GOP staffer said. 'Communication between DHS and the White House's national security apparatus isn't always what it should be.’
'I can easily see it happening where one hand didn't know what the other was doing because of a turf war.' House Homeland Security Committee chairman Mike McCaul plans to announce on Wednesday an investigative hearing to probe what U.S. intelligence knew prior to the Boston attacks, two senior Republican sources told MailOnline.
Separately, President Obama announced Tuesday that the U.S. government will launch a wide-ranging inquiry into the sharing of information among the Federal Bureau of Investigation, the Department of Homeland Security and other intelligence and law-enforcement agencies of the federal government. 'We want to leave no stone unturned,' the president said in a rare White House press conference.Hmmmm......Yeah we'll go to the bottom of it.Read the full story here.

US deliberately turned blind eye to Tsarnayev brothers' – Russian lawmaker.(VOR).The United States knew about the danger emanating from the Tsarnayev brothers but deliberately turned a blind eye to it, a senior Russian lawmaker twittered on Monday.
Alexei Pushkov, head of the State Duma’s International Affairs Committee, claimed that “someone evidently wanted to use the brothers because it’s hard to believe in the FBI’s naivety.”Brothers Tamerlan and Dzhokhar Tsarnayev are accused of staging the April 15 Boston Marathon bombing that killed three people, including an 8-year-old child.
During a huge manhunt, Tamerlan was killed in a shootout with police, while Dzhokhar was injured and is still in hospital.
Reports to the effect that the uncle of suspected Boston bombers, the Tsarnayev brothers, Ruslan, is related to the CIA are absurd, said Ruslan Tsarnayev’s former father-in-law, former CIA agent, Graham Fuller, in a statement.
He said that his daughter, Samantha, was Ruslan Tsarnayev’s wife for 3 or 4 years, of which time they spent one year in Bishkek. According to Mr. Fuller, the two divorced in 1999. Graham Fuller was a former CIA officer in Turkey, and was also a Deputy Head of the US National Intelligence Council.
But he had retired from the Intelligence Service by the time his daughter married Ruslan Tsarnayev. Graham Fuller told the El Monitor online publication that he did not think Ruslan could say anything of any importance to the intelligence agency.Read the full story here.

Tsarnaevs planned to set off bombs in New York's Times Square.
Tsarnaevs planned to set off bombs in New York's Times Square.(Reuters).The brothers believed to be responsible for bombing the Boston Marathon discussed detonating more bombs in New York City before their plans went awry, sources tell ABC News and Reuters.
According to law enforcement sources to who spoke to ABC News, Tamerlan Tsarnaev and his younger brother, Dzhokhar, were planning on driving to New York on Thursday night to detonate more bombs in Times Square.
Those plans were derailed, though, when the person they carjacked in Boston late Thursday escaped. That touched off a chase and gun fight through the streets of suburban Boston that killed Tamerlan, 26, and set off a massive manhunt for Dzhokhar, 19.
Two other sources could not confirm that the suspects were headed to New York last Thursday night but said that law enforcement authorities believe the ethnic Chechen brothers had planned to travel to the city to detonate bombs at some point. Read the full story here.
Dzhokhar Tsarnaev Unarmed When Barrage of Bullets Hit Boat
Dzhokhar Tsarnaev Unarmed When Barrage of Bullets Hit Boat.(WaPo).Although police feared he was heavily armed, the suspect in the Boston Marathon bombing had no firearms when he came under a barrage of police gunfire that struck the boat where he was hiding, according to multiple federal law enforcement officials.
Authorities said they were desperate to capture Dzhokhar Tsarnaev so he could be questioned. The FBI, however, declined to discuss what prompted the gunfire.
Other law enforcement officials said the shooting may have been prompted by the chaos of the moment and some action that led the officers to believe Tsarnaev had fired a weapon or was about to detonate explosives.
Law enforcement officials said they do not believe the brothers were connected with a terrorist organization, but they cautioned that the inquiry is at an early stage.
Tamerlan Tsarnaev, 26, was killed in a confrontation with police in the early morning hours Friday, four days after the marathon bombing. A transit police officer was seriously wounded in the exchange, in which more than 200 rounds were fired and the suspects lobbed homemade explosives at police. Dzhokhar Tsarnaev escaped and was the subject of a massive manhunt. He was cornered hiding in a boat in the driveway of a house in Watertown, Mass., on Friday evening.
Law enforcement officials described the 30 minutes before the arrest of Tsarnaev as chaotic. One characterized it as “the fog of war” and said that in a highly charged atmosphere, one accidental shot could have caused what police call “contagious fire.” Hmmmm......Suspect Throat Injury: Dzhokhar Tsarnaev Reportedly Attempted Suicide, Firing Gun in Mouth. Not much is available regarding Chiheb Esseghaier, the man charged with conspiring to derail a VIA passenger train in Canada. That is, until we began researching the Arabic and discovered a Tunisian Al-Qaeda operative’s facebook page in Arabic, all with the chilling details.
From western sources, the man’s Internet activities are summarized thusly, via National Post:
“[His] professional networking site LinkedIn that is illustrated with the black flag of the Islamic State of Iraq, an umbrella group of Iraqi insurgent groups affiliated with al Qaeda.”
That’s hardly a dossier.
Yet, his facebook page which was deleted minutes after our discovery (and after we saved it) is a different story. At the top is a detailed flowchart on Al-Qaeda’s plans, command and control, and methodology – from leadership to cell creation.
His favorites include several links to some of the most notorious terror groups including a facebook dedicated for the famed Abu Mus’ab Zarkawi.
On that facebook page, it gives a glimpse of the Al-Qaeda recruitment in the Levant (Syria).
Esseghaier’s favorite Muslim preacher is Yaser al-Dawsari, who linked to another facebook page under that name; it too was scrubbed minutes after our discovery.
Al-Dawsari is a major Saudi Imam who works for the Saudi government and is the relative of another terrorist, Khalid al-Dawsari, a U.S. home-grown Al-Qaeda terrorist who is in custody in the United States for attempting to assassinate president George W. Bush and plant weapons of mass destruction.Read and see the full story here.

Education by Murder in Boston.
Education by Murder in Boston.By Daniel Pipes
The Washington Times
April 24, 2013.
What will be the long-term impact of the Apr. 15-19 Boston Marathon attack and the ensuing action-movie-style chase, killing a total of four and wounding 265?
Let's start with what its impact will not be. It will not bring American opinion together; if the "United We Stand" slogan lasted brief months after 9/11, consensus after Boston will be even more elusive. The violence will not lead to Israeli-like security measures in the United States. Nor will it lead to a greater preparedness to handle deadly sudden jihad syndrome violence. It will not end the dispute over the motives behind indiscriminate Muslim violence against non-Muslims. And it certainly will not help resolve current debates over immigration or guns.
What it will do is very important: it will prompt some Westerners to conclude that Islamism is a threat to their way of life. Indeed, every act of Muslim aggression against non-Muslims, be it violent or cultural, recruits more activists to the anti-jihad cause, more voters to insurgent parties, more demonstrators to anti-immigrant street efforts, and more donors to anti-Islamist causes.
Education by murder is the name I gave this process in 2002; we who live in democracies learn best about Islamism when blood flows in the streets. Muslims began with an enormous stock of good will because the Western DNA includes sympathy for foreigners, minorities, the poor, and people of color. Islamists then dissipate this good will by engaging in atrocities or displaying supremacist attitudes. High profile terrorism in the West - 9/11, Bali, Madrid, Beslan, London – moves opinion more than anything else.
I know because I went through this process first hand. Sitting in a restaurant in Switzerland in 1990, Bat Ye'or sketched out for me her fears concerning Islamist ambitions in Europe but I thought she was alarmist. Steven Emerson called me in 1994 to tell me about the Council on American-Islamic Relations but I initially gave CAIR the benefit of the doubt. Like others, I needed time to wake to the full extent of the Islamist threat in the West.
Westerners are indeed waking up to this threat. One can get a vivid sense of trends by looking at developments in Europe, which on the topics of immigration, Islam, Muslims, Islamism, and Shari'a (Islamic law) is ahead of North America and Australia by about twenty years. One sign of change is the growth of political parties focused on these issues, including the U.K. Independence Party, the National Front in France, the People's Party in Switzerland, Geert Wilder's Party for Freedom in the Netherlands, the Progress Party in Norway, and the Swedish Democrats. In a much-noted recent by-election, UKIP came in second, increasing its share of the vote from 4 percent to 28 percent, thereby creating a crisis in the Conservative party.
Swiss voters endorsed a referendum in 2009 banning minarets by at 58-42 margin, a vote more significant for its ratio than its policy implications, which were roughly nil. Public opinion polling at that time found that other Europeans shared these views roughly in these same proportions. Polling also shows a marked hardening of views over the years on these topics. Here (with thanks to Maxime Lépante) are some recent surveys from France:
These commanding majorities are higher than in earlier years, suggesting that opinion in Europe is hardening and will grow yet more hostile to Islamism over time. In this way, Islamist aggression assures that anti-Islamism in the West is winning its race with Islamism. High-profile Muslim attacks like the ones in Boston exacerbate this trend. That is its strategic significance. That explains my cautious optimism about repulsing the Islamist threat.

Boston bomb suspect's aunt: Mosque refuses to bury Tamerlan Tsarnaev.
Boston bomb suspect's aunt: Mosque refuses to bury Tamerlan Tsarnaev.(NBC).The Tsarnaevs’ aunt said today that a Boston mosque that the brothers attended will not allow them to hold a funeral there for Tamerlan, who was killed last week after a shootout with police.
Tsarnaev is suspected of carrying out the deadly Boston Marathon bombing that killed three and injured more than 200, as well as killing an MIT campus police officer three days later.
The aunt, Patimat Suleimanova, said she did not know the name of the mosque, but that the burial request had also been denied. The brothers were known to have attended the Islamic Society of Boston mosque in Cambridge, and a spokesman for the mosque said burying Tsarnaev is a “complex” situation because “what the guy did was absolutely disgraceful.” Members of the mosque have been questioned by police.
Earlier this week, Imam Talal Eid of the Islamic Institute of Boston told The Huffington Post: “I would not be willing to do a funeral for him. This is a person who deliberately killed people. There is no room for him as a Muslim.” Hmmmm.....Where was this guy when they gave Osama Bin Laden an 'Islamic Burial?Read the full story here.

President Obama this afternoon will observe a moment of silence for the victims of the Boston Marathon bombings, with a twist: the press and the American people will be barred from seeing it.

Obama bills himself as presiding over the “openness White House,” but with respect to the Boston bombings, the place has been strangely opaque.
There have been only two televised White House briefings since the bombings a week ago. Both have been by White House Press Secretary Jay Carney.
No members of the president’s national security team have come to the briefing room podium to discuss the bombings, take questions on urgent matters such as why the terrorists were able to circumvent federal counterterrorism efforts, and to update Americans on the investigation and address whether there are further dangers to the public.Hmmmm......What time are the Muslim afternoon prayers?Answer:'Asr (afternoon): In the late afternoon, people are usually busy wrapping up the day's work, getting kids home from school, etc. It is an important time to take a few minutes to remember God and the greater meaning of our lives. CAIR: "Actually, most terrorist attacks in the US have not been planned by people who have anything to do with Islam."HT: Scaramouchee.
In the aftermath of the chaos unleashed by the Tsarnaev brothers, CAIR has made the astounding claim that the biggest problem of the American-Islamic relationship is, of course, "Islamophobia."
Nice try, semi-crypto triumphalists. The biggest problem between the two is far more insidious, and should be obvious by now. It's the Islamophilia--of jihadis.
Update: OnIslam interviews a CAIR functionary re the Boston bombing:
OI: The suspects of the Boston attacks turned out to be Muslims, again like most attacks since 9/11, do you think it is a coincident (sic)?
Shibly: Actually, most terrorist attacks in the US have not been planned by people who have anything to do with Islam.
For example, according to the FBI, between 1980-2005, only 6 percent of terrorist attacks in the US involved Muslims. Now even 1 percent is too much, nonetheless, it certainly is not the majority. Furthermore, American political scientists have made it very clear that those who commit acts of terrorism have nothing to do with religion and are often motivated by political, not religious, reasons. Actually, such attacks can never be justified and truly are nothing more than the result of having a twisted and sick mind. Nothing to do with religion. Move along now, Islamophobes 'n' philes.Hmmmm......Muslims represent about 1% of the American population, yet constitute more than 80% of terror convictions.Read the full story here.

Ibn Q. al-Rassooli : "J'ACCUSE - I ACCUSE" an Iraqi exile committed to warning the world of the dangers of Islam.(CJR).By I.Q. al Rassooli:
When I first heard about the horrific slaughter – caused by two bombs – perpetrated by some individual or individuals at the end of the Boston Marathon, I immediately assumed it was an Islamic act – especially since almost 98% of all acts of terror around the globe are committed by Muslims, the followers of Muhammad.
As I watched the carnage and listened and read the reports, I decided that – to be fair – my instant impulse to accuse Muslims was not based on facts, and that there was the possibility that this heinous act may have been perpetrated by a depraved mind with a grudge about something.
As I continued to watch the scene of the event, my memory went to the destruction of the federal building by Timothy McVeigh in Oklahoma (by the way, 19th April 2013 marked the 18th anniversary) and suddenly a thought lit my mind – in this case, there was no state or federal building or abortion clinic around.
All I could see were shops, cafes and ordinary American citizens enjoying the Marathon before the bombs went off.
Instantly I realized that this was an Islamic act to slaughter unbelievers/ infidels/ kuffar/ kafiroon who are not considered by Muslims as human beings but as beasts to be terrorized and/ or butchered.Read the full statement here.

“Let’s hope the Boston Marathon bomber is a white American.” That was the headline on a column of the popular liberal website, Salon, last week. The author, David Sirota, said when a white guy commits odious crimes, “white male privilege means white men are not collectively denigrated.”
Even as I read that, I realized there is some truth to it, for Sirota himself is a white male and I do not hold other white men responsible for his sick and warped comments. It’s not Sirota’s maleness or whiteness I blame for his stupidity. It’s his liberalness.
Oh, there was a lusting on the left for the killers to be white.
David Axelrod, the white male campaign strategist for Barack Obama, told a left-wing news channel, “I’m sure what was going through the president’s mind is — we really don’t know who did this. It was tax day.”
Really? Was that the salient characteristic of the Boston Marathon bombings? That it was on tax day — the implication that it was some right-wing protest against taxes and, it being Boston after all, surely linked to the Tea Party?
Or — just a wild guess here — did the terrorists target the Boston Marathon because it was a mass gathering of people, with enormous media coverage, the better to create terror? Axelrod preferred his theory, because Obama had already done a victory lap in the war against terrorism, and in fact had scrubbed the word terrorism from its official vocabulary. How could it be terrorism when Obama won that war?
As Hillary Clinton told Congress after the al-Qaida attack on the U.S. consulate in Benghazi, “Was it because of a protest or was it because of guys out for a walk one night who decided they’d go kill some Americans? What difference at this point does it make?”
Blaming the Tea Party — oh, please, let the terrorists be Republican! — would allow Sirota and Axelrod and Clinton achieve their ultimate goal: Defining conservatives as enemies of the state.
Alas, it was not to be. The Tea Party’s perfect streak of peacefulness continues, but radical Islam, popularly known as the religion of peace, increases its body count.
One of the accused terrorists, killed in a gun battle with Massachusetts police early Friday morning, was Tamerlan Tsarnaev, a Chechen Muslim.
Tamerlan is an unusual name. It would be like finding a young white male Republican named Adolf.
We don’t hear the name Tamerlan a lot in the west, but that wasn’t always the case. Christopher Marlowe, a contemporary of William Shakespeare, wrote a play called Tamburlaine the Great. Tamerlane, who called himself the Sword of Islam, was a military dictator, great in the same sense that Hitler and Stalin were great.
Actually, he was greater. During his bloody reign some 700 years ago, his armies killed 5% of all human life on earth — the equivalent, given the world’s population at the time, of someone killing 350 million people today. Hitler and Mao and Stalin together did not achieve that bloodbath.
Why is that relevant? Because there is a branch of Islam that believes in violence, that looks into the Qur’an and reads it literally, as a document of war. Which it is. Mohammed was first and foremost a warrior. Unlike the bloodier chapters of the Bible, there has been no reformation of the Muslim faith, no modernization, no liberalization.
In fact, the most famous and powerful Muslim leaders — certainly the most popular on the Muslim street — call for a return to Tamerlane-style butchery, to achieve a global theocracy.
Last week, Justin Trudeau mused about the “root cause” of the bombings. But he suggested the root cause was “marginalization,” as if the bombers were kids bullied in high school.
No. The root cause is that they believe, like the old Tamerlane did, that the world should bow to Islam, and if persuasion didn’t work, swords or bombs would. Hmmmm......Pres. Obama described the call to prayer as ”one of the prettiest sounds on Earth at sunset.”Read the full story here.
Israeli Doctors Are Treating Boston Bombing Suspect: New Details on His Condition.
Israeli Doctors Are Treating Boston Bombing Suspect: New Details on His Condition.HT: TheBlaze.
As 19-year-old Boston Marathon bombing suspect Dzhokhar Tsarnaev “clings to life,” Israeli media revealed that two of the senior doctors treating Tsarnaev have abundant past experience treating victims of terror. That’s because they’re from Israel.
Dr. Kevin (Ilan) Tabb, president and CEO of the Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center in Boston told the Israeli website Ynet that Tsarnaev is in stable condition but that because of wounds to his throat, he may never be able to speak again.
Tabb received his medical degree at the Hebrew University in Jerusalem and is also a board member of Hadassah-Ein Kerem Hospital in Jerusalem. That background gave him a unique perspective in responding to Monday’s terrorist attack.
“Unfortunately, I have had a lot of experience with these types of injuries after years of treating people injured in terror attacks inIsrael,” Tabb said.
Ynet reports:He told Ynet that the Boston Marathon attack resulted in “numerous leg injuries from the blasts, and there were many amputations as well. In Israel we are used to this and here they are not, but the hospital was prepared. Most of those who were seriously injured in the attack were sent to the three main trauma centers in Boston, including ours.“We have a few Israeli doctors in the emergency room, and the director of the ER is also Israeli. But most of the physicians at the hospital are not Israeli, and they functioned exceptionally well,” Tabb added.
“It was very similar to what I was used to in Israel in that we had to admit many injured people in a short period of time,” Professor Tabb said. “The fact that we are treating both the victims and the suspected terrorist also reminds me of similar situations in Israel. In Israel we had an injured soldier and a terrorist lying on adjacent beds. When an injured person is admitted to the ER, the doctor or nurse treats him without asking questions.”
Dr. Daniel Talmor, the Israeli physician who heads the ER at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center tells Israel Army Radio that Tsarnaev has “serious injuries, but I believe he will live.”
Police asked the medical staff not to offer further details on the specifics of the medical treatment being provided to the suspect, who Talmor says is in isolation with “very, very tight security.”He gave kudos to the staff’s professionalism while treating the suspect authorities believe to be behind Monday’s atrocity.
Talmor said in the interview Sunday morning, “The staff is very professional. Just like it responded professionally to the wounded on Monday, it responded professionally to [the arrival of] both of the terrorists. We admitted both of them… the main feeling of the staff is a feeling of closure that they were able to capture the terrorist and to arrest him. The people are treating him like any seriously injured patient, professionally, exactly like Israeli doctors, Israeli [hospital] staff treat all the injured who arrive.”
Talmor worked in Israel during the 1990s and treated victims of Palestinian terror attacks then that killed and maimed civilians.
“The feeling is always that Israel is home, especially in days like today,” he said.
“The subject of a mass terrorist act is something we practice a lot. I think one of the reasons for the good treatment the patients received on Monday is because we were already trained for a mass terrorist act at the marathon. Like in every year, tens or hundreds of people arrive who get dehydrated or faint at the marathon…” Talmor added.
This year, instead of treating those who were dehydrated, doctors at the medical center treated the seriously wounded.
Former U.S. Ambassador to Israel Martin Indyk also noted the similarity of Monday’s scene with Israel’s experience with Palestinian suicide bombings.
While on a visit to Israel this weekend, he told Israel Channel 2, “It’s strange that I’m here…and now it’s happening back home.”
“Israel is usually Ground Zero for terrorism” he said.
“Home grown terrorism is a very scary thing…to imagine that they are in our beds,” he added, according to the Jerusalem Post.
Israeli Ambassador to the U.S. Michael Oren described the shared U.S.-Israeli experience of being in the crosshairs of terrorists:
“The people of Boston, who on the day of the bombing were celebrating liberty’s birthday, will not submit. Our experience in Israel has taught us that communities and caregivers, police and security forces, elected leaders and volunteers can unite at such times and block the terrorists from achieving their objectives,” Amb. Oren wrote on CNN.com.
“While taking all possible measures to prevent further loss of life, we adamantly refuse to forfeit our way of life,” Oren added.Read the full story here.

Is Obama 'Admin' Covering Up Saudi Role In Boston Bombings?
Is Obama 'Admin' Covering Up Saudi Role In Boston Bombings?HT: Investors'
War On Terror: Could it be happening again? Could a Saudi terror cell be behind another major U.S. attack? And could the Saudi government be trying to sink the investigation?
After 9/11, the Saudi ambassador demanded the evacuation of dozens of Saudi nationals, including bin Laden kin, before the FBI could properly question them. He got his wish, even though 15 of the 19 hijackers were Saudis and others had ties to the plot.
Eerily similar high-level intervention is taking place in the Boston bombings case. Consider this timeline:
Jan. 14, 2013: President Obama meets in the Oval Office with Saudi minister of interior.
Jan. 16 Homeland Security Director Janet Napolitano signs “arrangement” with Saudi minister bestowing “trusted traveler” status on Saudi student visitors, shortcutting normal security screening procedures.
April 15: Saudi college student Abdulrahman Ali Alharbi is seen near the Boston marathon finish line with two other Saudis. He’s tackled after fleeing the scene of one of the bombings. Authorities question him.
April 15: FBI agents search Alharbi’s apartment, leave with bags of evidence. He’s described as a “person of interest” in attacks.
April 16: Secretary of State John Kerry secretly meets with the Saudi foreign minister, locking out reporters who initially were told the meeting would be open.
April 16: Saudi ambassador phones several papers and insists neither Alharbi nor any Saudi nationals are involved in the bombings. Saudi officials visit the well-connected Alharbi at a Boston hospital.
April 17: Officials clear Alharbi, who’s reportedly related to al-Qaida Gitmo detainees, as a person of interest.
April 17: FBI ID from photos and videos two Mideast-looking men with bags scouting scene of bombings and circulate them among law enforcement. AP, CNN and even Boston Globe report one arrest has been made. CNN describes suspect as “dark-skinned male.” Media swarm Boston courthouse for arraignment.
April 17: Obama has sudden unscheduled meeting with the Saudi foreign minister at White House.
April 17: Justice Dept. scolds CNN for arrest report. FBI cancels press conference. Courthouse bomb scare.
April 17: Terror expert Steve Emerson reports ICE has been ordered to “deport” Alharbi for “national security” reasons, out of reach of FBI questioning.
April 18: Napolitano denies Alharbi will be deported.
Did the Saudi minister request diplomatic-level immunity? Did Obama sign off on a “voluntary” departure?
“The level of coincidence required for the Saudi kid Ali Alharbi to be at the Boston Marathon at the time of the bombing and near the finish line where the bombs went off is staggering,” a DHS official told IBD.
Why was he there? Was he cheering on someone running in the race? We don’t know, and if he’s allowed to leave the country, we may never know.
April 18: “Innocent” Saudi visited by First Lady Michelle at hospital was up for Visa Revocation.
New Gingrich: Obama Administration “So Pro-Islamic That It Can’t Even Tell the Truth About People Trying to Kill Us”
New Gingrich: Obama Administration “So Pro-Islamic That It Can’t Even Tell the Truth About People Trying to Kill Us”HT: GatewayPundit.
Newt Gingrich slammed Barack Obama yesterday in Georgia saying the administration, “Is so pro-Islamic that it can’t even tell the truth about the people who are trying to kill us.”Washington Wire reported: For the second day in a row, Newt Gingrich amped up his rhetoric about the Obama administration’s relationship with the Islamic world.
“There’s something sick about an administration which is so pro-Islamic that it can’t even tell the truth about the people who are trying to kill us,” Mr. Gingrich said to applause from a crowd in a small airport hangar here. Mr. Gingrich accused the White House of being unwilling to discuss threats from some Muslims. And he slammed President Barack Obama for mounting a “war” on the Catholic Church over contraception but apologize to Afghan President Hamid Karzai over the burning of Qurans.
Turning to Mr. Obama’s apology and the rising violence against American soldiers in Afghanistan, he said, “I think we can look into the mind of a president in the speed and thoroughness with which they have disowned their own people.”Read the full story here.
"Misunderstanders of Islam" - Saudi Arabia opens luxury rehab center for Qaeda militants.
"Misunderstanders of Islam" - Saudi Arabia opens luxury rehab center for Qaeda militants.(AA).Saudi Arabia is hoping to wean jailed Al-Qaeda militants off religious extremism with counseling, spa treatments and plenty of exercise at a luxury rehabilitation center in Riyadh.
In between sessions with counselors and talks on religion, prisoners will be able to relax in the center’s facilities which include an Olympic-size indoor swimming pool, a sauna, a gym and a television hall.
The new complex is the work of the Prince Mohammed bin Nayef Center for Counseling and Care, a body set up seven years ago to rehabilitate extremists jailed during a Saudi crackdown on the local branch of Al-Qaeda.
“Just under 3,000 [Islamist prisoners] will have to go through one of these centers before they can be released,” interior ministry spokesman General Mansur al-Turki told AFP during a tour of the new center.
Another Center has already opened in the western port city of Jeddah, and three more are planned for the north, east and south of the desert kingdom.
The new facility in Riyadh, however, is the first to offer inmates a taste of luxury as an incentive to moderate their beliefs.

Kerry meeting with Saudi Foreign Minister abruptly closed |
Al-Qaeda jihadists, many of them trained in Afghanistan, had targeted Saudi Arabia for allowing U.S. troops to set up bases in the kingdom during the Gulf War and to stay on afterwards, until they eventually withdrew in 2003.
During the crackdown, many militants fled from Saudi into Yemen’s lawless southern and southeastern regions where the network formed Al-Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula in January 2009 -- classified by the United States as the jihadists’ deadliest branch.
Prince Mohammed himself survived a suicide attack by a jihadist in August 2009 when a bomber managed to infiltrate the prince’s security. The prince suffered only superficial injuries.
The Riyadh Centerspreads over an area equivalent to around 10 football pitches and is designed to accommodate 228 prisoners from the “deviant group,” the term used by Saudi authorities to refer to Al-Qaeda.
Each of the 12 buildings at the flagship facility will host 19 prisoners, who will have access to special suites where they can spend time with visiting family members.
Good behavior could earn them a two-day break with their wives.
During the day, the prisoners will attend seminars on religious affairs, aimed at steering them away from thoughts of jihad.
“In order to fight terrorism, we must give them an intellectual and psychological balance... through dialogue and persuasion,” said the director of the rehabilitation centers, Said al-Bishi.
He said a total of 2,336 Al-Qaeda prisoners have now been through Saudi rehabilitation schemes.
“The percentage of those who rejoin the deviant minority does not exceed 10 percent,” Bishi said, a proportion he described as “encouraging.”
AFP tried to speak to several former Al-Qaeda prisoners who had been released after going through rehabilitation but they declined to be interviewed about their experiences.
Not everyone is convinced, however. There have been some high-profile returns to the ranks of the jihad, such as Saeed al-Shehri, who became deputy leader of al-Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula after supposedly being rehabilitated.
Liberals are particularly critical of the religious content of the program which they say draws on an ultra-conservative version of Islam not so different from Al-Qaeda’s own.
“We cannot know if the program will succeed in eradicating terrorism and extremism,” social scientist Khaled al-Dakheel told AFP. “There must be pluralism and an acknowledgement of the rights of others to be different.”Hmmm....What are the odds that Obama will send the Gitmo prisoners there?Read the full story here.
