'The Iranian Living Dead' - Homeless Junkies Living inside Graves Draw Widespread Reactions in Iran.

'The Iranian Living Dead' -Homeless Junkies Living inside Graves Draw Widespread Reactions in Iran. (IFP).

Shahrvand newspaper on Tuesday, December 27, published an article about the life of homeless people who have to sleep in prefabricated graves in a cemetery near the Iranian capital at the freezing nights of winter.

In reaction to the report, acclaimed Iranian director Asghar Farhadi wrote an open letter President Hassan Rouhani, which reads as follows:

“Today, I read this moving report about the living conditions of the men, women and children who sleep in prefabricated graves in one of the cemeteries in the outskirts of Tehran to brave the freezing nights of winter.
Now, I am overwhelmed by shame and have a lump in my throat. Through this very letter, I would like to share with all those who have held positions over these thirty some years [after 1979 Revolution], this feeling of embarrassment and shame.
I know certain pseudo-politicians will exploit such reports for fanning the flames of their abrasive political wishes in the upcoming election campaigns, but these flames would do no warming for the feeble bodies of the children, women and men who lie in the graves or in parks or beneath city bridges these nights.
According to this report, the name of one of these men is Arman (which literally means Ideal). He is one of those who endure the penetrating cold of winter nights in Tehran graveyards. As the report said, these people are living the death! I cannot forget Arman, a forgotten ideal found in graves. Shame on us!
There have been rulers throughout history who would disguise themselves in plain clothes to walk in the society without being surrounded by their toady entourage to directly see and feel people’s pains. I propose that today’s officials may do the same in order to make some changes in a history that would leave the future generations stunned to read. Visits can be made to remote villages and cities. If not possible, to adjacent areas, outskirts of Tehran; so that they [the officials] will see brushed faces of the destitute who have spent their lives in this country. If even that is not practical, they can visit emergency centers in the city in plain clothes and secretly get on an ambulance which is supposed to carry a patient to a hospital to see how the following cars heinously compete with each other in heavy traffic to follow the ambulance so they would get to their destinations sooner!
This is just one bitter, simple but recurring incident in our lives. Who is responsible for such covert cruelties? How come and when exactly did we become like this? We have become people that have forgotten how to love each other; and our daily violence, either overt or covert, has become a tool for us to seek only our own interests in the society. We are a bunch of people who deal with lies as a life skill and teach it to our children.
We are just the forgetful viewers and hearers of pains. Who would now speak about the father who hanged himself from a bridge in Tehran’s Mirdamad St. and had this letter found in his pocket which wrote: “I did this because I could not afford treatment of my eyes”? Even the very few that speak about such things are criticized by others who say they are mere “black-washers”. They use this term as a way to shirk their responsibilities, or what they call the “blacks”.
Is this the promised city? Is this the city of ideals?”

In reaction to Farhadi’s letter, Iranian President Hassan Rouhani said on Wednesday, “I read a letter by an acclaimed artist which was pretty painful.”
“I had already heard there are homeless people who sleep on cardboards or under bridges, but graves! Not heard much of that before.”
He said the artist had said he felt this lump in his throat after learning about this issue, which is not tolerable neither by the administration nor the nation.

“We all must unite to resolve such issues and stop partisan tug-of-wars and instead, be focused on the country’s main issues,” the Iranian president said.

After Shahrvand’s report went viral in social media, the President’s office and the local governor also announced that measures will be taken to resolve the problems of these homeless people.

Meanwhile, certain media outlets have been taking advantage of the issue to achieve their anti-Iran objectives. The news website Arabi21 was one of those which covered the report in a way to suggest extreme poverty in Iran. It did not at all mention that these people were a bunch of junkies.

Iran - Interior Min to Announce Final Elections Results on Tuesday, partial results Saturday evening.(Fars).

Iran's Interior Ministry said the final results of the Friday parliamentary and Assembly of Experts Elections will be declared on Tuesday, although results of final vote counts in smaller towns and cities will be declared on Saturday and Sunday.

Interior Minister Abdolreza Rahmani Fazli told a press conference in Tehran on Saturday that the results of 70% to 80% of polling stations will be announced by Saturday night.

"We will start announcing the (partial) results of the Tehran electorate tonight," he said, but stressed that nationwide vote counting and declaration of the final results will take place on Tuesday as final elections results in Tehran will not end any sooner than Monday.

Ramani Fazli noted that over 60% of all eligible voters took part in the elections, and over 53,000 polling stations were set up for some 54,915,024 eligible people to vote.

According to the interior ministry, a sum of 6,229 candidates were cleared to compete for the 290-seat legislature but 729 of them withdrew from candidacy. More than 5,500 carried out the final registration to run in the race. Candidates from all the three major camps, the Principlists, Moderates and Reformists were present in the race.

The winning candidates of the Assembly of Experts' next term, lasting until 2024, possibly might have to choose the next Supreme Leader of Iran, or at the very least plan for it

US Poll: 41% Favor Nuclear Deal with Iran, 43% Oppose the deal.

US Poll: 41% Favor Nuclear Deal with Iran, 43% Oppose the deal.(IMRA).

Voters are almost evenly divided over a treaty the United States has reached with Iran to slow that country’s nuclear weapons program and tend to think the arrangement is likely to make things worse in the Middle East.

The latest Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey finds that 41% favor the short-term deal than ends some economic sanctions on Iran in exchange for verifiable cutbacks in the Iranian nuclear weapons program. Forty-three percent (43%) oppose that deal. Sixteen percent (16%) are undecided.

The survey of 1,000 Likely Voters was conducted on November 25-26, 2013 by Rasmussen Reports. The margin of sampling error is +/- 3 percentage points with a 95% level of confidence. Field work for all Rasmussen Reports surveys is conducted by Pulse Opinion Research, LLC.

Video - New Voyager | President Rouhani's..... 'Yes We Can" (English subtitled)

If Iranian President Hassan Rouhani is a wolf in sheep's clothing, as Benjamin Netanyahu claims, then this sheep has one savvy media team.

Inspired by the "Yes We Can" video, this piece was produced by Hossein Dehbashi for the 100th day of the Government of Prudence and Hope, featuring Hassan Rouhani's first speech as President of the Islamic Republic of Iran. This video was an initiative taken by the artists (without the President's knowledge) to immortalize President Rouhani's emotional speech, where he expresses hope for peace, friendship and progress. Only at the later stages was the video shown to President Rouhani.

This melodic piece is the first time ever for a chorus to sing along with a formal speech by a prominent Shia cleric and high ranking Iranian politician. Featuring musical instruments on video and singing by women are prohibited by Iran's state television. The fact that President Rouhani's personal website decided to feature this video was a great and notable step to break this taboo and support Iranian artists. http://www.rouhani.ir/event.php?event...

To pay tribute and celebrate Iranians from all backgrounds, parts of the video are in Kurdish, Balochi, Azeri and Arabic.HT: Scaramouchee.

US willing to offer Iran 'reversible sanctions relief' in exchange for 'first steps' on nuclear program.

US willing to offer Iran 'reversible sanctions relief' in exchange for 'first steps' on nuclear program.(Jpost).
GENEVA - The United States wants Iran to agree in negotiations this week a "first step" that stops its nuclear program advancing further and starts reversing parts of it, a senior administration official said on Wednesday.
In return for such a move, Washington would be willing to offer Iran "very limited, temporary, reversible sanctions relief," the official said, giving no detail on what those measures might be.

The US official was speaking on the eve of the two-day talks between Iran and six world powers in Geneva that seek to build on a diplomatic opening created by the election of relatively moderate Hassan Rouhani as Iran's new president in June.

"What we're looking for is a first phase, a first step, an initial understanding that stops Iran's nuclear program from moving forward and rolls it back for first time in decades," the official told reporters.
This phase must involve levels of Iran's uranium enrichment, its stockpiles of the material as well as international monitoring, the official said.
"We're looking for ways to put additional time on the clock," the administration official added.

Israel knows the Cost of war: In World War II it was "6 million lives."(ToI).
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu took direct aim at the Obama administration’s desire for a pause in new sanctions against Iran on Wednesday, telling the visiting American secretary of state that only more pressure would convince the Iranians to prove their nuclear program is peaceful.
“I believe that as long as they continue their goal to enrich uranium, to get nuclear weapons, the pressure should be maintained and even increased because they’re increasing enrichment, and I believe that it’s possible with intense pressure — because of the sanctions regime led in large part by the United States — to get Iran to fully dismantle its nuclear weapons program,” Netanyahu said alongside John Kerry in a press conference in Jerusalem.

“I’d be very worried with any partial deals that enable Iran to maintain those capabilities but begin to reduce sanctions because I think this could undermine the longevity and durability of the sanctions regime,” he added, alluding to recent reports according to which the US was willing to provide sanctions relief to the Islamic Republic in exchange for some compromises on its nuclear program.

In an interview with Israeli TV Sunday, Under Secretary of State for Political Affairs Wendy Sherman, another leading Obama administration official, addressed Netanyahu’s assertion that Israel would stand alone against Iran if need be.

Sherman remarked that the best resolution to the issue of Iran’s nuclear program was “a peaceful negotiated solution” — and that Netanyahu was well aware of that fact.“Israel knows as well as any country, if not better than any country, the cost of war, the cost of military action,” she said.Read the full story here.

Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif : Nuclear accord ‘possible this week’.

Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif : Nuclear accord ‘possible this week’.(HD).

A deal to end the standoff between Iran and the international community over its nuclear programme could be reached at talks in Geneva later this week, the country’s Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif told FRANCE 24 on Tuesday.

Zarif also said that Iran could use it its influence to encourage non-Syrian forces fighting in Syria to withdraw from the country.

Speaking to FRANCE 24 in Paris during talks with his French counterpart Laurent Fabius, Zarif said of a possible nuclear accord: “I believe it is possible to reach an agreement during this meeting, but I can only talk for our side, I cannot talk for the other side.” However, Zarif said that a failure to strike a deal in Geneva would not be “a disaster”.

“I believe we've come very far in the last three rounds [of talks], so we [only] need to make a few more steps,” said the foreign minister.

“We are prepared to make them in Geneva. But if we can't take them in Geneva, we'll take them in the next round.”Read the full story here on France24.

ZOA: Obama’s 5-Year Record Indicates He’s Not Serious About Stopping Iranian Nuclear Weapons.

ZOA: Obama’s 5-Year Record Indicates He’s Not Serious About Stopping Iranian Nuclear Weapons.HT: Matzav.

The National President of the Zionist Organization of America (ZOA), Morton A. Klein, has issued the following statement:

“President Barack Obama has repeatedly stated for more than five years — since before he was elected President — that he will “never, never” allow Iran to develop nuclear weapons. He has also repeatedly stated that, “If you like your health care plan, you can keep your health care plan. Period.”

“The ZOA is deeply concerned that his Iranian pledge is as untrue as his health care pledge.

“To stop Iran from obtaining nuclear weapons is not only a vital Israeli interest, but a vital American interest.
“If Iran is allowed to become a nuclear power, nuclear proliferation across the Middle East will ensue. Saudi Arabia and other Persian Gulf Sunni Arab states will seek their own nuclear deterrent against Iran and Egypt and Turkey are also likely to join the race for a nuclear weapons capability.

“A nuclear Iran can destabilize the eastern, oil-rich, Shia-majority provinces of Saudi Arabia and these might even be forcibly seized by Iran, without anyone having the power to reverse this seizure, placing even more of the world’s oil in Iranian control.

“Once Iran goes nuclear, one can expect Iraq and Azerbaijan, the latter currently an Israeli ally, from moving into the Iranian camp for want of any alternative or foreign protector.

“A nuclear Iran will drastically affect the global economy and global oil supplies, including significant increases in the price the oil, as it will be able to control or even shut down the free flow of oil through the Persian Gulf, through which more than half the world’s oil passes, without fear of serious retaliation. America and indeed the world can thereby be subject to nuclear blackmail.

“Within a few years, Iran, which already possesses missiles capable of striking Israel and Europe, will possess intercontinental ballistic missiles (ICBMs) which will have the ability to carry a nuclear payload and to strike targets in America. At that point, the U.S. too will be subject to Iranian nuclear blackmail in everything it does.

Iran is thus a supreme test of American credibility in world affairs. If Iran gets the bomb, after successive U.S. presidents have said that it will not be allowed to do so, American credibility, influence and power will have been dealt a devastating blow.

“The Iranian regime, including several former presidents, has repeatedly threatened the nuclear destruction of the Jewish state of Israel. Jewish history has taught us that horrific, genocidal threats cannot be ignored, but must be taken with utmost seriousness.

In addition to an Iranian nuclear power being a monumental threat to America, Europe and the Middle East, the threat to Israel, a small country that can be utterly devastated by just a few nuclear bombs, only magnifies the urgency of stopping Iran obtaining nuclear weapons.
“It is appreciated that a nuclear-armed Iranian regime poses an existential threat to Israel, but few discuss the huge risk for the United States if Iran becomes a nuclear weapons power.
“Whatever the political, economic and security risks for the U.S. that might be entailed by a last-resort military strike upon Iranian nuclear facilities, they will be as nothing against the shadow of nuclear blackmail security threat under which America will be obliged to live once Iran gets such weapons.
“Even if Iran never fires them at the U.S., who really believes Iran won’t give such weapons to terrorists? And who believes that, once having such weapons, terrorists won’t use them on the U.S.? And even if neither uses them, what unending series of concessions and retreats will America have to undertake to ensure that this continues?
“Once Iran gets the bomb, our freedom and security may well be compromised beyond anything we imagined.
“One must simply review President Obama’s record in dealing with Iran’s quest for nuclear weapons to see that it is disappointing and alarming.

Obama willing to accept nuclear Iran?

“First, there have been important indications that, contrary to his verbal assurances, President Obama is willing to accept a nuclear Iran:
  • In July 2009, President Obama’s then-Secretary of State Hillary Clinton said that the U.S. would extend a “missile shield” over the Middle East, implying acceptance of a nuclear Iran. Would Secretary Clinton have said this without approval from her boss, President Obama?
  • Defense Secretary Chuck Hagel argued for years before his confirmation in 2013 that the U.S. should reject all measures, not only military but economic as well, to prevent Iran becoming a nuclear power.
  • During his confirmation hearings earlier this year, Hagel may have inadvertently exposed Obama’s behind-the-scenes policy when he shockingly said that he supported the Obama Administration’s Iran policy on “containment” before an aide rushed up to whisper to him that the position of the Obama Administration was to oppose containment and not accept a nuclear Iran.
  • Both Clinton and Hagel reversed their positions when they attracted controversy but doubts remain. After all, why more than imply containment, why appoint as Defense Secretary one who supported containment, if that is not the actual, intended, behind-the-scenes policy in the White House? It is also reasonable to conclude, on the basis of their past statements, that both have had discussions with President Obama that tended in the direction of a policy of containment.
Obama warns Israel not to strike Iran.
“Second, while President Obama has affirmed on various occasions that Israel will legitimately decide how defend its security, his officials, advisers and actions over five years tell a different story:
  • In April 2009, President Obama’s Vice-President Joseph Biden publicly warned Israel of the Administration’s opposition to any Israeli military action against Iran.
  • The same month, then-Secretary Clinton declared that American support in countering the Iranian nuclear threat was conditional on Israel making concessions to the Palestinians.
  • In September 2009, Obama adviser and supporter and former National Security Adviser under President Jimmy Carter, Zbigniew Brzezinski (whom Obama has praised publicly) said that, were Israel to launch a military strike at Iran, the U.S. should confront the Israeli planes and shoot them down.
  • In February 2012, the Chairman of the Joints Chiefs of Staff, General Martin Dempsey, also explicitly opposed an Israeli strike.
  • According to reports, President Obama last year privately warned Israel, which has fewer military capabilities and thus less time to wait, not to strike Iran and warned of penalties for striking Iran if he were to win re-election in November 2012.
  • In all these cases, there was nothing about Israel’s ’sovereign right to make its own decisions.’
Obama delayed & weakened sanctions
“Third, President Obama has a frightening and disturbing record on sanctions against Iran:
  • For over a year after entering office, President Obama would not allow a Congressional vote on new U.S. sanctions on Iran, despite having overwhelming, veto-proof majorities in both Houses of Congress.
  • The 2010 UN Security Council sanctions President Obama supported did not cover Iran’s vital oil, financial and insurance sectors. Also, the sanctions included exemptions for numerous countries that are heavily invested in Iran, like China, which has huge contracts in Iran’s energy sector developing oil refineries, and Russia, which supplies S-300 surface-to-air missiles to Iran. (Japan and several European countries also enjoy exemptions from the application of these sanctions. These Obama exemptions weakened the impact of the sanctions).
  • In additional sanctions bills, the Obama Administration sought to torpedo or weaken new and stronger Congressional sanctions on Iran, even after these had been softened and waivers providing greater presidential discretion had been incorporated at the Administration’s request, leading Senator Bob Menendez (D-NJ), Chairman of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, to publicly and angrily criticize the Administration.
  • In his 2012 AIPAC speech, President Obama took credit for imposing sanctions on Iran’s Central Bank. Yet, not only had he not implemented these sanctions at the time buthe tried to slow their passage and dilute their strength.
  • Now, when Iran has made no concessions at all but agreed to further talks, President Obama, instead of maintaining what pressure he has exerted through existing sanctions, has urged Congress not to impose new sanctions on Iran’s mining and construction sectors, even though sanctions are the only form of pressure than can be exercised to bring about Iranian concessions.
  • New reports indicate that President Obama is not only opposed to imposing further sanctions on Iran, but that he is prepared to weaken them and unfreeze some Iranian assets if Iran merely takes some steps to curb — not terminate — its nuclear program.
  • In a meeting with a group of American Jewish leaders last month, President Obama urged American Jewish leaders to desist from urging Congress for additional sanctions on Iran.
Obama sets no red lines on Iran
“Fourth, President Obama has not laid down any red lines beyond which the U.S. will not permit Iran to advance in its quest for nuclear weapons. This open-ended policy suggests that there is in fact no point at which President Obama would act militarily to stop Iran developing a weapon. Such suspicions can only be compounded by President Obama’s recent failure to act militarily on a red line that he actually did lay down, that is, the use of chemical or biological weapons by Syria against its own people.
Obama leaks secret info. harming Israel on Iran
“Fifth, the Obama Administration has damagingly publicized Israeli military and intelligence information, including regarding Israeli preparations to deal with Iran militarily should the need arise. This has included leaking news of Israeli military preparations, such as revelations in March 2013 about Israeli use of Azerbaijan airfields with regard to a possible operation against Iran. Also, in May 2013 the Administration revealed details of an American-Israeli top-secret a U.S.-funded installation at an undisclosed location between Jerusalem and Ashdod for Israel’s Arrow 3 ballistic missile defense system.
Obama shows no urgency about Iran’s nukes
“Sixth, President Obama has made no public statement of any sort regarding reports that Iran might have nuclear weapons within a few months; in fact, there have been recent reports that indicate that Iran may be at a stage in its nuclear weapons development program that would enable it to produce a nuclear weapon in as little as one month.
Obama wants new sanctions delays & makes no demands on Iran
“Seventh, President Obama has not altered his policy of delaying additional sanctions and not making demands of Iran on its nuclear weapons program even after last week’s statement by the Iranian Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, calling Israel an ‘illegitimate, bastard state,’ the U.S. ‘an enemy who smiles,’ insisting that no compromises on Iran’s alleged right to enrich uranium will be made, and seeing tens of thousands of Iranians rallying in Tehran, screaming ‘Death to America.’ This is not unlike President Obama’s refusal to pressure Iran when he had a golden opportunity to do so in June 2009, when the Iranian regime brutally suppressed demonstrations produced by the rigged presidential elections that confirmed Mahmoud Ahmadinejad in power. President Obama said nothing for days, only tepidly criticized the Iranian regime and said, while he had ‘deep concerns … it’s not productive, given the history of U.S.-Iranian relations, to be seen as meddling - the U.S. President meddling in Iranian elections.’ (This is in stark contrast to events in Egypt in 2011, when after demonstrators erupted onto Cairo streets in late January against U.S. ally President Hosni Mubarak, President Obama said, that while ‘it is not the role of any other country to determine Egypt’s leaders,’ he nonetheless declared that it ‘is my belief that an orderly transition must be meaningful. It must be peaceful, and it must begin now’).
Obama silent on Iran’s terror operations
“Eighth, President Obama has not only done little to stop Iran developing a nuclear weapon, but he has ignored all other dangerous aspects of Iranian policy — its role in international terrorism, of which it is the leading state sponsor, funding and arming Hamas, Hizballah, Syria and others. Iran has been behind the murder of scores of Jews in terrorist attacks in Argentina and the assassination of numerous Iranian dissidents and human rights campaigners abroad. Iranian operatives even tried to murder the Saudi ambassador to Washington D.C. Equally worrying is President Obama’s ignoring Iran’s drive to develop bigger and better ICBMs which can carry nuclear weapons. At present, Iran already has missiles which can strike Israel and targets in Europe and will have the capacity to hit America in few years.
Obama negotiates while Iran’s nuke program moves close to completion
“Ninth, why has President Obama not demanded as a condition of further negotiations with Iran that Tehran immediately stop its centrifuges and its ICBM programs for the duration of talks?  Why has President Obama not demanded that Iran’s enriched uranium be removed and its nuclear facility at Fordow and heavy water, plutonium-producing facility at Arak be closed? He should be demanding all these things. At present, Iran continues unchecked in its drive for a nuclear weapons capability and the negotiations in Geneva merely smooth the path it is taking. That’s why Israel’s Strategic Affairs Minister Yuval Steinitz has said that ‘We’re worried Geneva 2013 will end up like Munich 1938.’ The Iranian Foreign Minister Javad Zarif has just reiterated that Iran has the ‘right’ to continue enriching uranium — yet the Obama Administration speaks as though the current talks are a great success, claiming that ‘The Iranian proposal was a new proposal with a level of seriousness and substance that we had not seen before.’ But the proposal, which involves suspending its 20% uranium enrichment activities and sufficing with enriching uranium to 3.5% will not stop Iran going nuclear, because the vast expansion in the number of Iranian centrifuges, including new centrifuges at Natanz allow Iran to transform 3.5% enriched uranium to bomb-grade material (enriched to 90%) as quickly as its old centrifuges were capable of transforming 20% enriched uranium to weapons-grade levels. As Gary Samore, President Obama’s former White House Coordinator for Arms Control and Weapons of Mass Destruction, put it, ‘Ending production of 20% enriched uranium is not sufficient to prevent breakout, because Iran can produce nuclear weapons using low-enriched uranium and a large number of centrifuge machines.’
“Samore has also stated, ‘What they’re offering is really no different than what we’ve heard from the previous government, from [Mahmoud] Ahmadinejad’s government for the last couple of years … They continue to reject any physical limits on their enrichment capacity - meaning the number and type of centrifuge machines, the stockpile of enriched material that they have in country. And as far as I can tell, they have continued to reject closing any of their nuclear facilities … I haven’t heard of any agreement to halt work or to modify the heavy water research reactor that they’re building, and which may be close to operational.’ Michael Rubin, a scholar at the American Enterprise Institute, a former Pentagon official, and author the new book, Dancing with the Devil: The Peril of Engaging Rogue Regimes, said, ‘The chances that Iran will come in from the cold are between zero and nil … Kayhan, an Iranian newspaper whose editor Khamenei appoints and which speaks on the Supreme Leader’s behalf, has made it clear that confidence-building and compromise are tantamount to treason.’
Conclusion
“The record of President Obama’s actions and policies on Iran for the past five years is deeply disturbing; one that cannot inspire any confidence that President Obama means what he says when it comes to stopping Iran.
“Everyone concerned for the future security of the U.S. and Israel should be afraid — very afraid.”
“The ZOA urges every media outlet, every church, every synagogue, every mosque, indeed, every Jewish and non-Jewish organization that cares about peace, every columnist, every journalist and every blogger to speak out on this before it is too late. They should all insist Iran close its Fordow nuclear plant and its Arak heavy water plutonium-producing reactor, stop all enrichment and agree to remove all its existing enriched uranium. We urge everyone to support military action if Iran fails to comply.”

Expert - Israel will need to start thinking about how to contain a nuclear Iran together with Arab states.

Expert - Israel will need to start thinking about how to contain a nuclear Iran together with Arab states.(Jpost).

Prof. Uzi Rabi, director of the Moshe Dayan Center for Middle Eastern and African Studies at Tel Aviv University, who will soon publish the book The Shi’ite Crescent: An Iranian Vision and Arab Fear, added that an Israeli military operation against Iran’s nuclear program was feasible several years ago, but that today, “the train has left the station.”

He added, however, that the Iranian regime is rational and calculated, and that Israel will need to start thinking about how to contain a nuclear Iran together with Arab states that are also threatened by the Islamic Republic.

In current diplomatic talks between Iran and the international community, “the two sides understand they have to reach a middle ground,” Rabi said. An agreement will likely involve Iran decreasing its uranium enrichment activities and a timetable for inspection of nuclear facilities, though it will not include complete Iranian transparency, he added.

“Some of the sites will be open for inspection. Everything will be partial. This is convenient for the Iranian and the American presidents,” Rabi stated.

Such an agreement will likely be supported by Russia – and Europe, despite some reservations, will give its blessing as well.

Iran will not provide any further concessions, Rabi stressed.

A deal on Iran’s nuclear program might also expand to an international arrangement for the attempted resolution of the Syrian conflict, Rabi said.

“The Iranians can say: ‘If we’re accepted as a partner in future talks on Syria, we can carry out steps that will push towards an end to the conflict in Syria,’” he added.

The US will seek to calm its Middle East allies, Israel, the Gulf states and Egypt, all of whom are threatened by a nuclear Iran, and convince them that it did not abandon them.

In Iran, elites tied into the regime, such as the Iranian Revolutionary Guards, will also create obstacles to any deal, Rabi argued.

Any lifting of sanctions will likely be gradual and could involve a slow easing of restrictions on the Iranian oil or banking industries.

But a partial nuclear deal is a “certified recipe for creating a nuclear Iran in the intermediate future,” Rabi warned. Israel and other regional states will have to start thinking about not only preventing Iran from arming itself with nuclear weapons, but how to contain a nuclear Tehran as well.

Rabi expressed skepticism that a military attack at this late phase could effectively stop the Islamic Republic’s march to atomic bombs.

“A strike can put them back perhaps by a year or two. What do you do at the end of that time? Strike again?” he asked. Instead, Israel should enter a regional coalition of states threatened by Iran, he argued.

Military generals in Israel who urged the government to wait before striking Iran years ago should not be pushing for a strike at such a late stage, he charged. Hmmm.....I Agree with Carl in Jerusalem: " I think there is value in setting Iran back a year or two, especially if it's followed by harsh sanctions that could prevent Iran from rebuilding its nuclear capability."

Iran Talks Won't Change U.S. Missile Plans in Europe, Kerry Says.

Iran Talks Won't Change U.S. Missile Plans in Europe, Kerry Says.(NCRI)

The U.S. is going ahead with its missile defense plans for Europe despite talkes with Iran, Secretary of State John Kerry said Tuesday, two days before the next round of nuclear negotiations with Iranian regime in Geneva, The Wall Street Journal reported from Warsaw.
The U.S. expects to put land-based missile interceptors in northern Poland by 2018, three years after a site in Romania is expected to become operational. The base in Poland will seek to protect Europe and the U.S. from missile attacks that could be launched mainly from Iran.

On the only European stop of his weeklong tour that centers on the Middle East, Mr. Kerry was asked Tuesday if that element of the system could be abandoned, considering U.S. diplomacy and international talks going on with Iran over its nuclear program. Mr. Kerry said that those talks wouldn't change the U.S. plan for Europe.

"There is no agreement with Iran, nothing has changed and the plans for missile defense are absolutely on target," Mr. Kerry said.
"We intend to provide for the next phase by 2018 and will deploy that site by that period of time. Nothing has changed at this point and I don't foresee it changing."Hmmmm......I've got News....Israel doesn't have till 2018 !

Prime Minister Netanyahu has declared, repeatedly, that Israel will not allow the Islamist regime of Iran to produce nuclear weapons. There is good reason for this – the Iranian regime has made no secret of its genocidal hatred of Jews and its desires to wipe Israel off the face of the map.

It is the premiere state sponsor of international terrorism, and much of that terrorism has been directed against Israelis and Jews. Through its proxies, Hezbollah and Hamas, it has killed hundreds of Israelis, including men, women, and children.

The United States, under President Obama, plans to, once again, talk to the Iranian government. We have been talking to this government for over two decades, but this time, according to President Obama, the new, “moderate” Iranian President is a man we can deal with.

Even though President Rouhani is not actually the “moderate” that President Obama claims he is. Even though Rouhani has already admitted he has repeatedly lied to the Western World about the Iranian nuclear program. Even though Rouhani is not actually the real leader of Iran, and the real leader, the Ayatollah Khamenei, has been very open and up front about his extreme hatred of Israel, the U.S., and Western values of freedom of speech, religion, etc.
The U.S., under President Obama, will do nothing but talk to Iran. The military option – regardless of what President Obama has said in the past – is off the table.
If we didn’t know this before, we know it now, after Syria, where President Obama drew a “red line” on chemical weapons and then ignored its violation. In fact, through the process of negotiations, the Obama Administration is only going to make things worse. It is pushing the U.S. Congress to step back from imposing new sanctions on the Iran, even though the impact of prior sanctions are what originally pressured Iran to implement its pretend “moderate” campaign. The Obama Administration is also considering the release of billions of dollars of frozen Iranian funds as a “reward” for the pretend “moderate” campaign, which will allow Iran to stave off its economic collapse and continue funding the Assad regime’s murderous actions in Syria.

There is nothing surprising about this, since President Obama’s instincts on foreign policy are almost always wrong, and he can usually be trusted to make the wrong decision on a matter of foreign policy. Prime Minister Netanyahu needs to understand all of this.

There is no U.S., or any other, “cavalry” on the way. Israel is the only nation with the will, and the ability, to deal with the Iranian nuclear threat.

And the clock is now two weeks to midnight.Hmmmm....."Pour les vaincre, messieurs, il nous faut de l'audace, encore de l'audace, et toujours de l'audace et la Patrie sera sauvée!" ~ Danton.

Iran: "Death to America"....It's Ok..... nothing to worry they're MODERATES now.

Iran: "Death to America"....It's Ok..... nothing to worry they're MODERATES now.HT: RussiaToday.
Early Monday morning, large crowds formed around the former embassy’s brick walls, which are covered front to back in elaborate anti-American murals.

The seemingly hackneyed chant of “Death to America” was met with the usual stage props: the Stars and Stripes trampled underfoot alongside images of Barack Obama, banners declaring ‘The US is the Great Satan,’ and placards depicting the United States under the thumb of Israel.
Some protest paraphernalia was more topical and creative. Students, for example, carried a model of a centrifuge used in uranium enrichment. A slogan scrawled across it read: “Result of resistance against sanctions: 18,000 active centrifuges in Iran.”

And it is the country’s controversial nuclear program that lays at the nexus of not only Monday’s demonstration, but internal divisions which, more than anything else, explain the popularity of Monday’s rally.Read the full story here.

"Moderate" Iranian LEADER Khamenei: "Zionist regime is an illegitimate and bastard regime."

"Moderate" Iranian LEADER Khamenei: "Zionist regime is an illegitimate and bastard regime."(JPost).
"The Zionist regime is an illegitimate and bastard regime," Iran's supreme leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei on Sunday said of Israel, whose existence Tehran does not recognize.
Khamenei also criticized the United States for its close relations with Israel. "The Americans have the highest indulgence towards the Zionists and they have to. But we do not share such indulgence," AFP quoted Khamenei as saying.

Khamenei also reiterated his view that he is not optimistic about the outcome of nuclear talks but said he saw no downside to holding the negotiations.

"With God's permission, we will not be harmed by these negotiations ... if the negotiations reach a conclusion then all the better, but if they don't it will mean that the country must stand on its own feet," Khamenei said.

Iran's supreme leader gave strong backing on Sunday to his president's push for nuclear negotiations, warning hardliners not to accuse Hassan Rouhani of compromising with the old enemy America.

Ayatollah Ali Khamenei's comments will help shield Rouhani, who has sought to thaw relations with the West since his surprise election in June, from accusations of being soft on the United States, often characterized in the Islamic Republic as the "Great Satan".

Iran will resume negotiations with six world powers, including the United States, in Geneva on Thursday, talks aimed at ending a standoff over its nuclear work that Tehran denies is weapons-related.

Rouhani hopes a deal there will mean an end to sanctions that have cut the OPEC country's oil exports and hurt the wider economy, but any concession that looks like Iran is compromising on what it sees as its sovereign right to peaceful nuclear technology will be strongly resisted by conservatives.

"No one should consider our negotiators as compromisers," Khamenei said in a speech, a day before the Nov. 4 anniversary of the 1979 seizure of the US Embassy in Tehran, a pivotal event in US-Iranian relations, the ISNA news agency reported.

"We should not trust an enemy who smiles," Khamenei said. "From one side the Americans smile and express a desire to negotiate, and from another side they immediately say all options are on the table." Read the full story here.

Ayatollah Khamenei tells Iranians: "Make more babies!"

Ayatollah Khamenei  tells Iranians: "Make more babies!"(AA).
Iran’s Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei, who has not been seen in public for more than three weeks, has issued a message urging Iranians to produce more babies, which he said is essential for the future of the Islamic Republic.
“Young image is an essential and important issue for the country, and the countries which have faced aging population have overcome the issue in a difficult way,” Ayatollah Khamenei said in his message addressed to the national conference of the population changes, the official IRNA news agency reported on Thursday.

“It is necessary, therefore, to carry out essential and scientific work to resolve this issue,” Khamenei added.
“We always wonder how life is going to be if we have four or five children; we should also think that if we have four or five children and if they are able to find jobs they will contribute to the development of the country,” he noted.

He said 150 million is the “minimum” that Iran should have and that it is capable for more. He criticized the government policies during the reformist administration of Mohammad Khatami who encouraged family planning.

Former conservative President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad introduced an initiative whereby the government would pay families for every new child by depositing money into the child bank account until they are 18 years old.

Ahmadinejad considered family planning as ungodly, saying: “Those who raise the idea of family planning are thinking in the realm of the secular world.”

The Iranian population is estimated at 79 million in 2013 and about half are about 35 years of age.Hmmm....Erdogan urges Turks to have more babies, it seems Turkey is really moving closer to Iran........As i predicted.

Yet another reminder: Iran still closing in on bomb.

Yet another reminder: Iran still closing in on bomb.(TheOptimisticConservative).
So, who’s up for another round of graphs showing that Western diplomacy, sanctions, and technology have yet to out-maneuver Iran in the mullahs’ push for a bomb?
A long-time IAEA expert, Olli Heinonen, predicted this past week that, using her newer, advanced centrifuges, Iran could produce enough high-enriched uranium (HEU) for a first nuclear warhead in as little as two weeks from making the decision to go for the “breakout.”  (See here also.)

For clarity, this does not mean Iran is “two weeks from a bomb.”  It means that once Iran decides to take the final enrichment step, it could take as little as two weeks to bring enough of her current stock of 19.75-percent-enriched uranium to HEU purity, or above 90 percent.

That estimate shortens the already brief month or so projected by the Institute for Science and International Security (ISIS), one of the chief think tanks tracking Iran’s nuclear progress.  (The longer projection assumes Iran would use the older centrifuges that form the backbone of her current mass-scale enrichment effort.)

When might Iran make the “breakout” decision?  We don’t know.  We do know that the three graphs below, which bring us up to date on Iran’s enrichment activities, are bracketed by intelligence on Iran’s nuclear-weapons and missile programs.  Let’s review it briefly.

As early as 2004, the U.S. had intelligence indicating Iran had worked with designs for an implosion-type nuclear warhead, and had probably done high-explosive testing for a detonation device at Parchin, southeast of Tehran, in the early 2000s.  Additional intelligence at the time indicated design studies for fitting a nuclear warhead on a Shahab-III type medium-range ballistic missile (MRBM).

As early as 2006, Western analysts identified an underground missile-silo complex being constructed at Tabriz.  Construction began at least as early as 2003, but may have started even earlier, in the 1990s.  (See pp. 28-30 of this Congressional Research Service report from 2012.)

Recent campaign statements by new Iranian president Hassan Rouhani, Iran’s chief nuclear negotiator from 2003-2005, indicate that Iran’s installation and use of centrifuges for uranium enrichment were much more extensive and advanced during that period than the UN’s IAEA monitoring agency knew.

In fact, IAEA’s knowledge appears to have been at least two years behind the timeline laid out by Rouhani.  This should give us pause in viewing all subsequent assessments, including the ones reflected in the graphs below, which derive their information from IAEA inspections.Read and see the full story here.

The case of the 'Missing Supreme leader' Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.

The case of the 'Missing Supreme leader' Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.(AA).
Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei has been out of public sight for three weeks amid speculations of his declining health leaving the country worried about a power vacuum.
Quoting Iranian sources, UK newspaper The Times reported on Thursday that “Ayatollah Khamenei collapsed recently during a private meeting and since then has been convalescing or receiving treatment.”

He last appeared to the public in Tehran on Oct. 5, The Times reported.
Khamenei came to power in 1989 following the death of Ayatollah Khomeini, who assumed power in the 1979 Iranian Revolution.
Concerns about Khamenei’s health grew when he failed to send customary farewells to Iranian pilgrims traveling for hajj two weeks ago, according to reports.
He also did not deliver an address during Eid al-Ghadeer, a festive day observed by Shia Muslims.“It seems the illness is worse than we thought. People are scared that this could be the end,” one supporter told The Times.
But an Israeli military intelligence website ruled out health issues are behind Khamenei’s absence. DEBKAfile reported that the supreme leader has likely disappeared to focus on drafting a “trilateral” U.S.-Russian-Iranian accord for resolving the issues of Iran’s nuclear program.

The website quoted sources saying that the accord is already finalized and the leaders of the three countries have not made it public in order not cause regional “shock.”

Khamenei, who has the final word in all state affairs, has no appointed heir. Conservatives fear his death could bring a reformist to Islamic Republic’s supreme leadership. Former president and powerful figure Akbar Hashemi Rafsanjani is especially feared by conservative due to his reformist positions.Hmmmm.....So WHO is deciding about the 'Nuclear talks?

Iran ready to simplify access of IAEA experts to nuclear facilities.

Iran ready to simplify access of IAEA experts to nuclear facilities.(Taz).

At the negotiations in Vienna between Iran and the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), the Iranian diplomats proposed a new approach according to which Tehran is ready to go for a substantial simplification of the conditions for the access of international experts to its nuclear facilities, ITAR-TASS reported on Wednesday citing a source familiar with the course of consultations.
At the same time, the source said that the main condition for Iran is the negotiations focus on the final result, that is closing the "nuclear dossier" and transfer of Agency's control measures to operating mode.

"Iran proposes quite transparent programme, including within the framework of existing agreements and IAEA practices - the inspectors at the sites may get access to more information and to some enterprises where they had a limited access or no access at all," the source said.

At the same time, according to the source, "access to the Parchin facility has not been discussed at the negotiations." "Both sides consider that this issues may be discussed in the phase when confidence is restored and steps are taken within the existing practices," the source said.

According to him, the document which had been developed by the parties for two years before new president Hassan Rouhani came to power in Iran, is eventually set aside, and negotiations restarted.

"The so-called structured approach was withdrawn as such - we need a different database as an initiative, memorandum or agreement, to see what the ultimate goal is and how to reach it, the source said. "This philosophy is considered by both sides. The source stressed that "some sensible elements" of the old document may be used."

"It is not about specific things yet, but a combination of philosophy and some patience is needed here to get concrete results," the source said.

"Most importantly, the parties began to talk about all the issues that are on the agenda, and this is an important qualitative shift compared to all previous rounds of negotiations."Hmmmm.....The never ending talks, that will lead to nuclear breakout.
