A global Islamic campaign entitled “ISIS, the ignorance of the Kharijites, and penetrating the intelligence” has been aired on more than 25 Islamic satellite channels starting yesterday evening and lasting a week, in a unified move which includes the participation of elite scholars and preachers from Saudi Arabia and the rest of the Arab and Muslim world.

Saudi channel Iqraa and Egyptian station Al-Rahma took part in the unified move which will discuss ISIS’ origins and support.

The shows will cover the intervention of the Grand Mufti of Saudi Arabia, Sheikh Abdul Aziz Al-Sheikh, and many photographic and exclusive reports to support the objectives of the campaign, which warns of “extremist ideology and Kharijites’ beliefs in particular”.

The campaign will begin on Thursday 23 Dhu Al-Qa’da [yesterday] from 9pm until 11:30pm every evening for a week.

Remarks recently uttered by President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan in which he pushed an independent banking regulatory body to take steps against a private bank and his statements about credit rating agencies reveal that Erdoğan sees Prime Minister Ahmet Davutoğlu as a mere servant.

Erdoğan accused certain leading credit rating agencies of being biased in their ratings of Turkey, warning that the country could cut ties with Moody's and Fitch. “If these [rating agencies] keep behaving in this way, I will tell the prime minister to cut ties with them [Moody's and Fitch]; we have not obtained any gains through them,” Erdoğan told reporters on a return flight from Qatar at the beginning of last week.

It is quite unusual for a president in Turkey -- a parliamentarian democracy and not a presidential system -- to be directly involved in economic issues, which is seen as the realm of the government. Erdoğan's wording -- "I will tell the prime minister to…" -- says a lot about how he sees his role and that of Davutoğlu: A prime minister who is expected to act under instructions from the president.

According to Cengiz Aktar, a senior scholar at the İstanbul Policy Center of Sabancı University, Erdoğan's discourse is a violation of the Constitution as he usurps the powers bestowed on prime minister by the Constitution.

“This [Erdoğan's remarks] is neither natural nor lawful. Erdoğan has no such authority [as per the Constitution]. Turkey is no longer a country where rule of law dominates,” Aktar told Sunday's Zaman. Turkey's Family Ministry shames singles in new 'Family Campaign' (AM).

"You are headless. You go about with your heads in a plastic bag. You deplete our electricity, fuel and goods, and produce bigger waste. You disturb the order. Get married!” This seemed to be the message Turkey’s Family and Social Policies Ministry issued to bachelors in a campaign poster last week.

Though the latest campaign has vanished from Twitter, singletons continue to make fun of it. Here are a few examples:

“At a time when speculation of Turkey-IS [links] has hit the fan, the Family Ministry’s ad for people living alone is a real beauty.”

“They have savagely encouraged consumption and shopping, building one mall after another, and now — ‘those living alone consume more.’”

“You are supposed to rein in the man who kills his wife before worrying about those who live alone.” (This tweet was posted to the ministry.)

“If those living alone consume more goods, electricity and fuel, then married couples are not supposed to have three children either — for lesser consumption!”

“The severed-heads poster is a reflection of [IS] culture. … Congratulations to you, Family Ministry, for this disgusting poster on people living alone!”
