On June 7, 2015, Turkey survived a tense, critical parliamentary election that dramatically decreased the ruling AKP’s parliamentary majority and elevated the HDP to the national scene. In this brief report, experts interpret the results and offer their projections for the near future of Turkish politics.

Fevzi Bilgin argues that the people of Turkey chastised the ruling AKP at the ballot box for, more than anything, its heavy-handed, polarizing politics and disregard for the rule of law, separation of powers, and basic rights and freedoms.

Ahmet T. Kuru calls the June 7 elections the most unfair since the 1983 elections controlled by the military junta. He also examines various coalition possibilities.

Mustafa Gurbuz points out the opening of a new chapter for Kurdish politics as a result of the HDP’s unprecedented success in the elections and discusses the challenges for the Kurdish region and the peace process.

Birol Baskan contends that while escaping from an authoritarian takeover by the AKP, Turkey has plunged directly into a period of great political uncertainty. He adds that it will take great statesmanship to pull Turkey out of this situation.

Hmmm....If i were Erdogan i would pretend that i'm open to a coalition with others, then just before the 45 days period passes proclaim we can't agree, calll for new elections and probably do get more votes for the AKP, after stating they can't be trusted to govern the country.

New YPG Discovered documents unravel the ISIS and 'Islamist' Turkish state cooperation. (kurdishquestion).

During its recent operation on ISIS gangs, YPG uncovered Turkish flags, plane tickets showing of gangs who traveled through Turkey on the way to Syria, Turkish translations of the Koran, and the list of Turkish gang members who participated in the attack against YPG positions in Til Xenzir.

YPG’s military operation codenamed 'Commander Rubar Qamishlo' enters its 28th day as YPG deals major blows to ISIS gangs. Several gang members were killed during yesterday’s operations in the villages of Ummud Tavaric, Xerkan, Hecer, Nestel, Dixalîyê and Hevasi. YPG also uncovered many documents belonging to the gangs and our agency managed to get a hold of these documents.

As YPG operations deal major blows to ISIS, gang members escape in hurry and leave important documents behind. In the recent operation, YPG uncovered phones, phone cards, walkie-talkies, passports, identity cards, organizational documents and books. YPG guerillas also found Turkish and ISIS flags hung next to one another in several houses previously occupied by the gangs.

One of the most important documents uncovered by YPG is the list of 17 Turkish gang members who participated in the ISIS attack on Til Xenzir which is located 25 km to the west of Serêkanîyê. Last winter in Til Xenzir, YPG commanders were stating that the attack came from the Turkish side of the border and the feeing gangs took refuge in Turkish military posts.

Here are the names of Turkish gangs who are in the Katiba Faruk brigade that is based in Raqqa and loyal to ISIS: Ebu Meshep Tirki, Ebdulhadi Tirki, cindil Tirki, Xettap Tirki, Mervan Tirki, Hekrema Tirki, Kedema Tirki, Ahmed Seyyaf Tirki, Hasan Basri Tirki, Zerkevani Tirki, Ebu Hesen Tirki, Ebu Musa Tirki, Ebu Yusuf Tirki, Ebu Muhas Tirki, Ebdul Hadi Tirki, Ebu Hezife Tirki, Ebu Meshef Tirki and Ebu Abbas.

ISIS documents also indicate that, among the gangs who attacked Til Xenzir, 2 were ammunition bearers and 9 were health experts. Hmmm....Seems like those 'only 500' Turkish ISIS members sure get around a lot.

On June 3, 2015, following reports in the Arab and world press that thousands of Iranian and Iraqi troops are being dispatched to Syria to defend the Syrian regime, which is said to be on the verge of collapse, Amir Mousavi, a former advisor to the Iranian defense minister, announced in a Facebook post that in a few hours  the Iranian leadership will announce the activation of its mutual defense agreement with Syria. 

The defense agreement between the two countries, which essentially places all of Iran's defensive capabilities at Syria's disposal, was signed in 2007. 

In 2012 then-Iranian defense minister Ahmad Vahidi said that Iran would "activate the agreement upon [the Syrians'] request."

The following is a translation of Mousavi's post: 

"In the next few hours, the leadership of the Islamic Revolution in Iran will announce, God willing, the historic decision to activate the mutual defense pact with Syria's legitimate government. I believe that parallel decisions will be taken in Lebanon and Iraq that will reinforce the comprehensive strategy of this decision, [resulting in] an improved state of the resistance axis countries for the purpose of confronting the spread of the extremist terrorist movements supported by the Aal-Sa'ud regime and the global Free Masons organization."

Hmmm....This announcement comes as the Turkish elections will take place this Sunday, with rumors of an impending Assault on Syria by Turkish forces, Khamenei just pulled the rug from under 'Sultan' Erdogan's feet.

President Recep Tayyip Erdogan’s long-running feud with Turkey’s feisty opposition media has descended into open warfare ahead of Sunday’s general election, amid claims that his ruling neo-Islamist Justice and Development party (AKP) is plotting to fix the results and shrill threats to lock up journalists and editors en masse.

But Erdogan’s livid fury with the press may be rooted in a deeper, personal unease. Turkey’s apparently untouchable Teflon president, who has dominated political life since 2002 and now plans to rewrite the constitution, sideline parliament and grab sweeping dictatorial powers, increasingly fears he may have fatally misread the electorate’s mood.

“As he falls from grace, the sense of total exhaustion and loss of prestige is driving him [Erdogan] to excessive aggression,” said Bulent Kenes, editor-in-chief of Today’s Zaman newspaper.

“Threats and insults are tossed around, but Erdogan – who gives the impression of being a paper bully – fails to scare anyone. Honourable people from all ideologies and beliefs … can defy Erdogan and his crime syndicate with the courage of knowing they are right,” Kenes wrote.

The threats against Cumhuriyet and other media have provoked international protests, including from Human Rights Watch and European parliamentarians. 

Erdogan appears to be past caring. He lashed out at the BBC, CNN, and the New York Times this week, claiming they were the trashy tools of an international, implicitly anti-Islamic conspiracy. “Do you know what their aim is? To weaken Turkey, to divide it, to disintegrate it and then to swallow it.”

The weekend election now looks like a turning point. Columnist Yavuz Baydar summed it up: “In a nutshell, it has turned out to be a simple choice between giving approval or not for all Erdogan now stands for: introducing to Turkey an arbitrary rule, disrespect for human dignity, rejection of supremacy of the rule of law, eradication of rights and freedoms, unaccountability and impunity, and construction of a new system in which there will be no separation of powers.”

If he gets his way on Sunday, Erdogan will be unstoppable. If he is thwarted, his vengeful wrath may be dangerously unconfined. Hmmm.....As long as his BFF Obama protects him he won't care about any 'opposition'.Read the full story here.
