A Qatar-based Muslim cleric called for protests in Egypt on the anniversary of the country's Jan 25 uprising against Hosni Mubarak and said Mohamed Morsi is Egypt's "legitimate" leader, in a speech that may worsen relations between Qatar and Egypt.

Sheikh Youssef al-Qaradawi, an Egyptian-born cleric who has close links to the Muslim Brotherhood, has been critical of Egypt's government, accusing President Abdel Fatah El-Sisi of betrayal for ousting President Mursi in 2013, a Muslim Brotherhood leader.

Qaradawi's outspoken support for the Islamist movement has contributed to a diplomatic rift between Qatar and its Gulf Arab allies and Egypt, who consider the Islamist group a security threat and supported Morsi's overthrow.

Since then, Qaradawi has refrained from delivering Friday sermons. But this has not stopped him from criticizing Egypt's rulers during conferences or by statements often sent by email.

"I call on the people of Egypt, all those capable to go out of their houses on this great occasion ... Egyptians should go out and express that they don't want anything but the revolution they had started," Qaradawi said in a video recording posted on his Twitter account on Sunday.

A source close to Qaradawi confirmed that the cleric is still in Doha and the recording of the message posted took place in Qatar.

In recent months, Qatar has taken steps to improve relations with Cairo, such as suspending broadcasts by the Qatari-owned al Jazeera television network of an Egypt-focused channel. But Qatar still hosts a number of Islamist figures, including Qaradawi, a continuous source of irritation to Egypt. Hmmmm......Anyone believing Qatar has stopped their MB Support needs a medical.

President Obama is due to release two more Guantanamo Bay inmates in the coming days, Fox News reported early Tuesday.

The overnight announcement from the White House comes on the heels of a similar decision made by Mr. Obama just a few days ago to free five Gitmo prisoners. Those five were arrested in Pakistan after the Sept. 11, 2001, terror attacks on U.S. soil, but never charged.

Three hailed from Yemen; the other two, from Tunisia.

The nationalities and identities of the two who are poised to be released in the coming days are not yet known.

About three dozen inmates have been let go from Gitmo in recent months. About 125 remain at the facility, and Mr. Obama has made shutting the facility one of his campaign promises.

President Barack Obama's zealous pursuit of the perfect golf game has led to his latest challenger on a Hawaiian golf course during his Christmas holiday vacation.

The nation's Commander in Chief teed-off on Christmas eve with the radical Islamist prime minister of Malaysia, who praised the actions of terrorist groups such the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS) for their victories.

Obama's advisors have told the news media that President Obama is simply taking advantage of the "warm temperatures in Hawaii to hit the links," and his opponent is not a factor.

Malaysian Prime Minister Najib Razak joined the president, as well as White House aides Joe Paulsen and Mike Brush, for a round of golf that surprised some, but is expected by others who believe Obama has a soft-spot in his heart for Muslims, even radical ones.

"Imagine the outcry if a Republican president played a round of golf with the leader of a nation that terrorizes homosexuals, oppresses women and supports terrorist organizations. It would be the lead story in every major news outlet," said former NYPD detective and member of a U.S. Marine intelligence unit, Sidney Franes.

According to news reports, the Malaysian prime minister had ordered his national police force in September to clamp down on protesters who were opposed to his Islamist government supporting ISIS and their countries slide into Shariah law.

"My party members must emulate the bravery of a Middle Eastern militant group that defeated an Iraqi force outnumbering it nearly 30 to one if we (Malay Islamist party) are to survive," Najib Razak said during a formal dinner. Hmmmm......I Guess their handicap is ISRAEL? Read the full story here.

ONE of the most famous - and controversial - Islamic scholars, Egyptian Yusuf al-Qaradawi, has sought to burnish the crucial religious credentials of Malaysian Prime Minister Najib Razak on the eve of his announcing the election.

Mr Qaradawi had previously been supportive of opposition leader Anwar Ibrahim during his visits to Malaysia, but he has realigned himself with the growing tide of international Islamic backing for Mr Najib, following the Prime Minister's recent visit to Gaza as a guest of Hamas - the first non-Arab leader to travel there.

Aged 86, Mr Qaradawi prayed in introducing his letter commending Mr Najib for visiting Gaza that "Allah may shower his blessings and mercy upon Najib in discharging his responsibilities to pursue the goals of progress, stability and security for the people in Malaysia and worldwide".

He prayed that "Malaysia may always be the best place for Muslims and their civilisation".

He wrote: "Your visit has nourished the hope of millions of Palestinians who have been seeking freedom for decades.

Malaysia and its people, he wrote, are crucial in the struggle for Jerusalem - of which Mr Qaradawi is the chairman of the council of international trustees of the Muslim holy sites.

Clive Kessler, emeritus social sciences professor of the University of NSW, whose research has focused on Malaysia and Islam, said: "Najib, until recently seen as 'the great moderate', is now finding that his political salvation lies in demonstrating Islamic zeal."

Thus the visit to Hamas in Gaza, he said, "has become Najib's potentially game-changing trump card.

A Canadian Islamic preacher banned from several countries due to his views has been detained in the Philippines under suspicion he incited and recruited people to commit terrorism.

Bilal Philips, a Jamaican-born preacher who grew up in Toronto and is a Canadian citizen, will be deported within days, according to Siegfred Mison, the head of the Philippines immigration bureau.

"Based on various sources of information, he was supposed to be inciting and recruiting people to conduct terrorist activities," Mison told reporters, but gave no details of the sources.

Germany expelled Philips in 2011 for reportedly giving a speech in Frankfurt claiming homosexuals should be killed. Britain, Australia and the United States have also reportedly banned Philips.

However, two Toronto-based friends of Philips told QMI Agency Wednesday that despite his controversial interpretations of Islamic teaching, they never heard Philips incite or condone terrorism.
"It's utterly ridiculous, preposterous," said Ibrahim Downey, president of a Toronto-based company that offers "inspirational counselling" who said he is Philips' family friend and has known him for years.

"I've never seen anything (violent) from him," Downey said. "He explains the (texts from the Qur'an) as they are supposed to be understood, does that make him Conservative? What's that got to do with terrorism?"

Downey heard about Philips' detention Sunday night and Philips' family said the preacher was on a speaking tour in the Philippines.

Philips is an internationally known imam. He founded an online, free Islamic studies university and has written scores of books on Islam.

Mubin Shaikh, a former undercover police agent who said he's known Philips for more than 20 years, said he was surprised by Philips' detention.Shaikh said he never heard Philips incite violence or condone terrorist activity.

However, Shaikh admitted that Philips was controversial."He's a strict conservative," Shaikh said. "He ran into trouble for stating the traditional Islamic position on homosexuality. But he's never had any connection to (inciting terrorism).

While Philips is reportedly currently based in Doha, Qatar, it is unclear to what country he will be deported. Hmmmm....Purely coincidentally he's based in Qatar the Muslim Brotherhood Den.
