Muslim Brotherhood 'den' Qatar asks Egypt to release Morsi. HT: Memri.
SOURCE: Saudi Gazette 18 June ’15:”Qatar calls on Egypt to release Morsi”,by Agence France Presse
SUBJECT:Qatar asks Egypt to release Morsi
QUOTE:”Qatar still shelters many members of Morsi’s Muslim Broherhood”
FULL TEXT:DOHA — Qatar expressed "deep concern" on Wednesday[17 June] over a death sentence handed down by an Egyptian court against ousted Islamist president Mohamed Morsi and called for his release.
The United States has branded the sentencing of Egypt's first democratically elected president as politically motivated.
"Doha adds its voice to the countries calling for the verdict to be quashed and Morsi released," said the statement on the official Qatar News Agency.
An Egyptian court on Tuesday[16 June] upheld a death sentence handed down against Morsi on charges of plotting jailbreaks and attacks on police during the country's 2011 uprising. It also sentenced him to life in prison on charges of spying for Iran and militant groups including the Palestinian Islamist movement Hamas, several of whose leaders are based in Qatar.
The Egyptian court also upheld death sentences against around 100 other defendants, including the Qatar-based cleric Yusuf Qaradawi, who was tried in absentia.
"The death sentences against political dissidents in Egypt harm security and stability, and close the door to reconciliation and harmony," the Qatari statement said.
Ties between Doha and Cairo had been strained over Qatar's backing for Morsi, ousted by then army chief and now President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi in 2013.
The dispute triggered a crisis last year pitting Qatar against its Gulf neighbors — all backers of Sisi.
It ended in a compromise in December, when Qatar pledged its support to Sisi, even though it still shelters many leaders of Morsi's Muslim Brotherhood which is now blacklisted as a terrorist group in Egypt. — AFP.

Pro-Muslim Brotherhood Clerics Call To Overthrow Al-Sisi gov In Egypt, Restore Mursi as Pres.
Band of 'Muslim Brothers' |
Pro-Muslim Brotherhood Clerics Call To Overthrow Al-Sisi Regime In Egypt, Restore Mursi as Pres. (Memri).
On May 27, 2015, a group of 159 pro-Muslim Brotherhood (MB) clerics and 10 pro-MB religious bodies from across the Arab and Muslim world posted a document clarifying "the position of the shari'a on the [current] Egyptian regime."
The document was posted on the Nida Al-Kinana ("Egypt Call") website, which was launched specifically for this purpose. It states that the current Egyptian regime is a "criminal and murderous" regime that has "betrayed the homeland and the faith," and therefore Egyptians have a religious obligation to come out against it and strive for its complete elimination "using the appropriate means, such as civil disobedience." The document also calls for the release of Muhammad Mursi, whom it calls the legitimate elected president.
The document stresses that anyone proved to be involved in killing innocent people is guilty of murder and must be subjected to the relevant shari'a punishment (i.e., put to death), and this includes judges, media figures and politicians.
Directing specific accusations against the Sheikh of Al-Azhar and the Mufti of Egypt, it states that they backed the regime's actions against the Muslim Brotherhood, which makes them complicit in the regime's crimes, with all that this entails in terms of the shari'a.
Finally, the document calls on all the Arab and Muslim countries, as well as on academics and liberals, to act immediately to protect Egypt from "the crimes of this tyrannical regime," and condemns the countries that support it.
The document is signed by 10 MB-affiliated religious bodies from across the Muslim world, including:
- the Sunni Scholars Association,
- the Council of Palestinian Scholars Abroad,
- the Lebanon Muslim Scholars Committee,
- the Mauritania Seminary for Clerics,
- the Mauritania Forum of Clerics and Imams,
- the Council of Clerics in the Arab Maghreb,
- the Al-Azhar International Clerics Union,
- the Egyptian Preachers Union,
- the Forum of Clerics against the Coup,
- and the Sudanese Clerics Council.
The signatories to the document are prominent figures affiliated with or supportive of the MB, including religious university heads and lecturers, heads of Islamic councils and bodies, preachers and former ministers.
They come from a variety of Muslim countries across the world, including India, Turkey, Morocco, Yemen, Libya, Mauritania, Pakistan, Jordan, Syria, Lebanon, Kuwait, Malaysia, Saudi Arabia and Bahrain.
Among them are Dr. Ahmed Al-Raissouni, deputy head of the International Union of Muslim Scholars; 'Abd Al-Majid Al-Zindani, head of the Yemeni Clerics Council; Sheikh Salman Al-Husseini Al-Nadawi, president of Imam Ahmad University in India; Sheikh Muhammad Zahal, head of the Council of Clerics in the Arab Maghreb; former Yemeni justice minister 'Abd Al-Wahhab Al- Dilmi; Jamal 'Abd Al-Sattar, a da'wa lecturer at Al-Azhar and the head of the Sunni Scholars Association; and Muhammad Al-Hassan Al-Dado, head of the Mauritania Seminary for Clerics.
Over half a million people have indicated their support of the document on the Egypt Call website.
Responding to the document on its official website, the MB welcomed it and thanked the clerics for "coming out against the crimes" of the "coup regime." Conversely, spokesmen for the Egyptian regime, as well as some other figures and movements in Egypt, harshly condemned the document and the calls therein, and warned the Egyptians not to heed them.
The following are translated excerpts from the document, and from some of the responses to it. Hmmmm.......I wonder what the Obama 'admin' told their 'representatives'.Read the full story here.

Obama poised to free two more Gitmo inmates. (CJR).
By Cheryl K. Chumley – The Washington Times – Tuesday, January 6, 2015.
President Obama is due to release two more Guantanamo Bay inmates in the coming days, Fox News reported early Tuesday.
The overnight announcement from the White House comes on the heels of a similar decision made by Mr. Obama just a few days ago to free five Gitmo prisoners. Those five were arrested in Pakistan after the Sept. 11, 2001, terror attacks on U.S. soil, but never charged.
Three hailed from Yemen; the other two, from Tunisia.
The nationalities and identities of the two who are poised to be released in the coming days are not yet known.
About three dozen inmates have been let go from Gitmo in recent months. About 125 remain at the facility, and Mr. Obama has made shutting the facility one of his campaign promises.

Obama golfs with radical Islamist leader endorsed by MB 'Godfather' Qaradawi on Christmas Eve. HT: Examiner.
President Barack Obama's zealous pursuit of the perfect golf game has led to his latest challenger on a Hawaiian golf course during his Christmas holiday vacation.
The nation's Commander in Chief teed-off on Christmas eve with the radical Islamist prime minister of Malaysia, who praised the actions of terrorist groups such the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS) for their victories.
Obama's advisors have told the news media that President Obama is simply taking advantage of the "warm temperatures in Hawaii to hit the links," and his opponent is not a factor.
Malaysian Prime Minister Najib Razak joined the president, as well as White House aides Joe Paulsen and Mike Brush, for a round of golf that surprised some, but is expected by others who believe Obama has a soft-spot in his heart for Muslims, even radical ones.
"Imagine the outcry if a Republican president played a round of golf with the leader of a nation that terrorizes homosexuals, oppresses women and supports terrorist organizations. It would be the lead story in every major news outlet," said former NYPD detective and member of a U.S. Marine intelligence unit, Sidney Franes.
According to news reports, the Malaysian prime minister had ordered his national police force in September to clamp down on protesters who were opposed to his Islamist government supporting ISIS and their countries slide into Shariah law.
"My party members must emulate the bravery of a Middle Eastern militant group that defeated an Iraqi force outnumbering it nearly 30 to one if we (Malay Islamist party) are to survive," Najib Razak said during a formal dinner. Hmmmm......I Guess their handicap is ISRAEL? Read the full story here.

ONE of the most famous - and controversial - Islamic scholars, Egyptian Yusuf al-Qaradawi, has sought to burnish the crucial religious credentials of Malaysian Prime Minister Najib Razak on the eve of his announcing the election.
Mr Qaradawi had previously been supportive of opposition leader Anwar Ibrahim during his visits to Malaysia, but he has realigned himself with the growing tide of international Islamic backing for Mr Najib, following the Prime Minister's recent visit to Gaza as a guest of Hamas - the first non-Arab leader to travel there.
Aged 86, Mr Qaradawi prayed in introducing his letter commending Mr Najib for visiting Gaza that "Allah may shower his blessings and mercy upon Najib in discharging his responsibilities to pursue the goals of progress, stability and security for the people in Malaysia and worldwide".
He prayed that "Malaysia may always be the best place for Muslims and their civilisation".
He wrote: "Your visit has nourished the hope of millions of Palestinians who have been seeking freedom for decades.
Malaysia and its people, he wrote, are crucial in the struggle for Jerusalem - of which Mr Qaradawi is the chairman of the council of international trustees of the Muslim holy sites.
Clive Kessler, emeritus social sciences professor of the University of NSW, whose research has focused on Malaysia and Islam, said: "Najib, until recently seen as 'the great moderate', is now finding that his political salvation lies in demonstrating Islamic zeal."
Thus the visit to Hamas in Gaza, he said, "has become Najib's potentially game-changing trump card.

Muslim Brotherhood 'Godfather' Qaradawi Expelled From Islamic Council.
Muslim Brotherhood 'Godfather' Qaradawi Expelled From Islamic Council. (ClaionPr).
Groups led by Muslim Brotherhood ideologue Sheikh Yousef al-Qaradawi have been expelled from the International Islamic Council for Da’wah and Relief.
The Cairo based council, which performs Islamic proselytizing and charity work, expelled Qaradawi’s International Union of Muslim Scholars on the grounds they mixed religion and politics and supported terrorism.
The council has over 80 organizations in its ranks and performs work all over the world.
The council made the ruling in a session on Tuesday, alongside senior figures from Saudi Arabia and Kuwait. The council is headed by the Grand Imam of Al-Azhar, the most respected authority in the Sunni Islamic world and one of the world’s oldest universities.
Qaraqawi’s group was expelled alongside ten other organizations.
These included the London based Islamic Relief Worldwide. Last month Islamic Relief was listed as a terrorist organization by the United Arab Emirates, along with the Muslim Brotherhood and affiliated organizations such as the U.S. based Council on American Islamic Relations (CAIR) and the Muslim American Society (MAS).
Sheikh Yousef al-Qaradawi is the leading ideologue of the Muslim Brotherhood. He guides members on religious matters and his interpretation of Islam is followed by the group.
He has spoken out in the past in favor of female genital mutilation, on which subject he later claimed to have changed his mind, and wife beating. He has been filmed calling for the next holocaust against Jews to be perpetrated by Muslims and has personally expressed his desire to take part in such an event. Read the full story here.

Muslim Brotherhood 'Godfather' Qaradawi Says “I Never Incited To Murder”. (GMBR).
Arab media is reporting that Global Muslim Brotherhood leader Youssef Qaradawi has denied inciting murder after an Interpol notice was issued for his arrest.
According to the Al Arabiya News report, Qaradawi wrote on his Facebook page “‘I did not kill and I never incited to murder”:
December 9, 2014 Qatar-based Egyptian cleric Yusef al-Qaradawi denied Monday inciting murder on his personal Facebook page after Interpol issued a warrant for his arrest.
‘I did not kill and I never incited to murder so that Interpol would put me on the wanted list,’ Qaradawi wrote on his page.
‘Those who killed thousands of innocent people at the Republican Guard headquarters, Manassa and Rabaa, al-Nahda, Ramsis and others are known and are being invited to Western capitals,’ he added.
Qaradawi’s statements came following the international police agency claimed that he made an ‘agreement, incitement and assistance to commit intentional murder, helping prisoners to escape, arson, vandalism and theft.’
Qaradawi, who is in his late 80s, is wanted by Egypt’s authorities and faces being tried in absentia.
He is seen as a spiritual guide to the Muslim Brotherhood, the group ousted Egyptian President Mohammad Mursi hails from and is the head of the Muslim Brotherhood affiliated International Federation of Muslim Scholars (IFMS).
Egypt has designated the Muslim Brotherhood a ‘terrorist organization’ and launched a brutal crackdown on Mursi’s Islamist supporters since his ouster last July 3.
Qatar had close ties with Egypt during Mursi’s turbulent single year in power, but relations nose-dived after his overthrow. “
Whatever the basis for the Egyptian charges, Youssef Qaradawi is considered to be the “spiritual guide” for Hamas and his fatwas in support of suicide bombings against Israeli citizens were utilized by Hamas to justify their operations. He is also known to have called for attacks on US troops and civilians in Iraq.
The GMBDW was the first Western media to report on the INTERPOL Red Notice issued for Qaradawi.

Turkish Pres Erdogan criticizes Egypt for Interpol bid on Muslim Brotherhood 'Godfather' Qaradawi
Turkish Pres Erdogan criticizes Egypt for Interpol bid on Muslim Brotherhood 'Godfather' Qaradawi.(AA).
Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan on Monday criticised Egypt for having Interpol issue an arrest warrant for a Muslim scholar.
Islamist scholar Sheikh Youssef al-Qaradawi, whose fiery sermons have caused tensions with Cairo, is a strong supporter of the Muslim Brotherhood.
He regularly launches tirades against Egypt's authorities since the ouster Islamist president Mohamed Morsi in July last year.
Egypt had approached Interpol seeking Qaradawi's arrest and in November Interpol put him on its wanted list.
"Look, a person who came to power through a coup is giving instructions to Interpol," Erdogan told a religious council in Ankara.
"A step is being taken for arrest of Youssef al-Qaradawi, president of the Union of Muslim Scholars," he said.
"What kind of a business is this? Science cannot be at the disposal of politics. Politics is the servant of science," he added.
"Things have turned upside down. All of these developments show the world is unfortunately going not for the good but for the bad."
Qaradawi, 88, is an Egyptian-Qatari national and a prominent Sunni cleric based in Doha.
He is named as a defendant in several trials along with many Muslim Brotherhood members, including one which has Morsi as a co-defendant.
Turkey is one of the staunchest supporters of the brotherhood, with Erdogan calling Morsi's removal from power a "coup". Hmmm.....You have to come to the rescue of the man who declared you the rightful 'Caliph'

Interpol Alert Seeks Arrest of Muslim Brotherhood’s 'Godfather' Yusuf Qaradawi.
Interpol Alert Seeks Arrest of Muslim Brotherhood’s 'Godfather' Yusuf Qaradawi. (TCJR). by IPT News • Dec 5, 2014.
Interpol issued a bulletin Friday seeking the arrest of the Muslim Brotherhood’s most influential cleric Yusuf al-Qaradawi.
The bulletin was sparse on details but said that Egypt wanted the 88-year-old Qaradawi “to serve a sentence” for crimes including “incitement and assistance to commit intentional murder.”
Qaradawi lives in Qatar. He also is alleged to have had a hand in a massive prison break of Brotherhood members and others during the revolution against then-dictator Hosni Mubarak. Mohamed Morsi, a Brotherhood official who went on to become Egypt’s president in 2012, was among those who escaped.
Qaradawi has been a fierce critic of Egypt’s new government and of Morsi’s July 2013 ouster after one year in office. “From the day he (new President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi) came, all we saw is killing and bloodshed, detention and women being raped,” Qaradawi before elections in May.
In February, Egyptian officials demanded that Qatar extradite Qaradawi. They also asked Interpol to arrest Qaradawi a year ago.
Qaradawi described the recent acquittal of ousted Egyptian dictator Hosni Mubarak as “the saddest day in the history of human justice and a disgrace on Egyptian judiciary.”
According to the Global Muslim Brotherhood Daily Watch, Interpol issued a “red notice” which is both its highest level alert, and a move subject to later review by the international police agency.

Leading Muslim Brotherhood 'Godfather' Qaradawi Calls to Kill the Jews
Leading Muslim Brotherhood 'Godfather' Qaradawi Calls to Kill the Jews.(Matzav).
Valentina Colombo, Senior Fellow at the European Foundation for Democracy in Brussels, said the following in an interview:
A few days ago Yusuf Qaradawi issued a…call to the Arab and Muslim peoples. And the title of this call was “Save al-Aqsa.”At the end of the statement Qaradawi quotes Hadith, a saying of Muhammad: “The time would not come until the Muslims will fight the Jews and kill them; until the Jews hide behind rocks and trees, which will cry: Oh, Muslim! There is a Jew hiding behind me, come and kill him!”
The meaning of this is that Qaradawi, who is the main theologian of the Muslim Brotherhood, is calling to kill Jews.
Qaradawi is the President of the International Union of Muslim Scholars. He is also the President of the European Council for Fatwa and Research based in Dublin. So, he is part of the European context.
If a person like him calls to kill the Jews, we do not know what can happen next Friday in mosques or in the next days in the streets of Europe.

Related: Gulf rift on pause — for the time being, new Muslim Brotherhood 'Den' Khartoum.
One of the main sticking points had to do with policies towards the Muslim Brotherhood. Qatar has always considered Muslim Brotherhood as an ally and a strategic asset, whereas the others view it as an enemy and strategic threat to the status quo.
Saudi Arabia has declared Muslim Brotherhood a terrorist organisation, the UAE considers it as an outfit that intends to destabilise Egypt and the region.
However, to the maverick Qatar, Muslim Brotherhood is the legitimate choice of the people of the region and deserves its sympathy and support. In the spirit of cooperation, Qatar finally conceded to the demand from other GCC members and has asked many of the Muslim Brotherhood leaders to leave Doha.
It has arranged for the Muslim Brotherhood leaders to regroup in the Sudanese capital of Khartoum, where they will be closer to their home base of Egypt.
Most likely, Qatar will continue to provide them with financial support. That was the most Qatar was willing to give in. The differences were sharp and it looked bad for the image of GCC as security community when it failed to agree on who was on its list of friends and enemies.
Update: Confirmed - Muslim Brotherhood Leader Says Qatar Asked Some Members to Leave.
“Some symbols of the Muslim Brotherhood and its political wing — the Freedom and Justice Party — who were asked by authorities to move their residence outside the state of Qatar have now honored that request,” Amr Darrag, a senior Brotherhood leader, said in a statement posted on the group’s website.
A Qatari diplomat, speaking on condition of anonymity, contradicted Mr. Darrag. The diplomat said that the Brotherhood leaders had decided to depart for their own reasons without any request from Qatar, and that they were welcome to return.
“Maybe for some of them, they saw from the media that the country is being pressed and they left of their own free will because they did not want to put the country in an embarrassing situation,” the diplomat said.
In his statement, Mr. Darrag, the Brotherhood leader, indicated that only a limited number of his colleagues were leaving Doha. Qatar has been “a very welcoming and supportive host,” but the Brotherhood leaders are leaving “in order to avoid causing any embarrassment for the state of Qatar,” he wrote, adding, “We appreciate the great role of the state of Qatar in supporting the Egyptian people in their revolution against the military junta, and well understand the circumstances faced by the region.”
Though the decision has been warmly welcomed by Egypt, and is likely to have a similar reception from GCC members, analysts say there are many more issues still to be worked out.
Andrew Hammond of the European Council on Foreign Relations told AFP that he does not think Qatar's decision represents "a major policy shift."
The decision will leave dozens of Brotherhood supporters based in Qatar, and Hammond says that rather than making sweeping policy changes, the side-lined state is making "incremental concessions to placate its neighbours."
"The other issue is what happens with al-Jazeera's line. Does that shift? Nothing has changed so far," Hammond said.
al-Jazeera, a Qatar-funded news outlet, has been very supportive of the Muslim Brotherhood and opposed to the overthrow of Mohammed Morsi.
Speculation is now growing as to where the expelled Brotherhood officials could turn next – Qatar had been considered one of the last safe havens for the movement’s leadership.
The group is officially designated as a “terrorist” organisation by Egypt, Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Bahrain, Syria and Russia.
It was unclear how many Brotherhood leaders were leaving. Besides Doha, Istanbul and London remain hubs for Egyptian Islamists in exile where they might seek to relocate. Read the full story here.

Muslim Brotherhood 'Godfather' Qaradawi Says He Won’t Leave Qatar.HT: TGMBR.
In the latest development in the long running saga of Youssef Qaradawi, Qatari media is reporting that the Global Muslim Brotherhood leader has denied that he has any plans to leave Qatar. According to a report in The Peninsula:
DOHA: Noted Qatar-based Islamic scholar Dr Yousuf Al Qardawi has denied reports that he is moving to another country.
The scholar, who has been at the centre of a controversy after his recent criticism of some neighbouring GCC countries, said what had been reported about him was ‘totally baseless’.
Reports circulating in a section of the media and several social networking sites say that the scholar has been asked to leave Qatar for Tunisia.
‘These (reports) are nothing but the hopes and dreams of some enemies of Islam. They are not going to materialise, God willing,’ Al Sharq quoted Al Qaradawi as saying.
His statement gains importance in the context of a GCC deal signed on Thursday to end tension between Qatar and three other GCC countries.
‘The Father Emir and the Emir are closest to me. I love them from the depth of my heart,’ Al Qaradawi added.

Council of Europe Selects Son Of A German Muslim Brotherhood Leader As Member Of Advisory Council on Youth.(TGMBR).
The Council of Europe has announced that Youssef Himmat, likely the son of German Muslim Brotherhood leader Ghaleb Ali Himmat, has been selected by the Secretary General of the Council Of Europe (COE) to serve for 2014-2-15 as member of the Council’s Advisory Council on Youth.
According to the COE website, the Advisory Council is made up of 30 representatives from youth NGOs and networks who provide opinions and input on all youth sector activities. The COE, in turn, describes it self as “the continent’s leading human rights organisation” which includes 47 member states, 28 of which are members of the European Union.
In August 2013, the GMBDW reported that the Federation of Muslim Youth and Student Organizations (FEMYSO) had announced the election of Youssef Himmat as a member of its Executive Committee. Other individuals of interest also elected at the same time included Hajar Al Kaddo, the daughter of Irish Muslim Brotherhood leader Nooh Al Kaddo, and Intissar Kherigi, the daughter of Tunisian Muslim Brotherhood leader Rachid Ghannouchi, who was elected as the FEMYSO President.
Youssef Himmat is likely the son of Ghaleb Ali Himmat, an important figure in the founding of the German Muslim Brotherhood and the longtime business partner of Muslim Brotherhood leader Youssef Nada who has claimed to be the acting “foreign minister” for the Brotherhood.
Both Himnmat and Nada were founders and majority shareholders of the notorious Al-Taqwa Bank, formerly located “offshore” in the Bahamas. Numerous Muslim Brotherhood luminaries held shares in the bank, including the bank’s Sharia supervisor Global Muslim Brotherhood leader Youssef Qaradawi and his family, which was supposed to conduct business in accord with Islamic principles. The bank was closed in 2000 after what Nada said were unforeseen developments related to the Asian financial crisis and a run on the bank caused by unfavorable publicity generated by accusations that the bank was funding Hamas. Both men, along with the Al Taqwa Bank and related businesses, remain designated as terrorist entities by the US government.Read the full story here.

An Islamic news portal is reporting that Global Muslim Brotherhood leader Youssef Qaradawi was asked to leave Kuwait as a result of what have been described as “divisive remarks he has made inciting violence and bloodshed.” According to an IslamTimes report:Controversial cleric Yusuf al-Qaradawi has left Kuwait after being asked to leave due to the divisive remarks he has made inciting violence and bloodshed.
Qaradawi, who has often voiced support for suicide bombings, was in Kuwait to attend the fourth annual meeting of the International Islamic Charitable Organization (IICO), the Islam Times reported.
Kuwaiti MP Abdullah al-Tamimi criticized IICO Chairman Abdullah Al-Maatouqand and called for the expulsion of several of the people invited to the meeting, including Qaradawi, for what he called their lack of neutrality on Islam.
“Qaradawi attacked Persian Gulf leaders and accused them of having financed the killing of Egyptians,” he noted.
Another MP, Riad Adsani, said, “Qaradawi has glorified Saddam Hussein, who occupied Kuwait and was responsible for the death of our faithful martyrs,” suggesting he should therefore not be allowed in Kuwait.
Qaradawi has faced much criticism and a political backlash in recent months, especially from Persian Gulf countries, since he openly criticized Saudi Arabia and called for the release of the ousted Muslim Brotherhood Egypt’s President Mohammad Mursi.
Qaradawi is a long time member of the board of the International Islamic Charitable Organization (IICO) which has many members and officers tied to the Global Muslim Brotherhood as well as one member designated by the US in connection with Al Qaeda fundraising. The IICO is strongly connected with Hamas fundraising.
A Turkish news portal is also reporting that Egypt’s chief prosecutor has issued an arrest warrant for Qaradawi who is accused of inciting the killing of Egyptian security forces and meddling in the country’s affairs.
Youssef Qaradawi is the most important leader of the Global Muslim Brotherhood and is the de facto spiritual leader of the movement. He is also considered to be the “spiritual guide” for Hamas and his fatwas in support of suicide bombings against Israeli citizens were utilized by Hamas to justify their operations. In 2004, Qaradawi turned down the offer to head he Egyptian Brotherhood after the death of the Supreme Guide. He is based in Qatar and has said the Qatari Emir has protected from being designated as a terrorist by the U.S. He has also reportedly amassed substantial wealth by serving as the Shari’ah adviser to many important Islamic banks and funds. Qaradawi is the head of the Union of Good (UOG), a worldwide coalition of charities helping to raise funds for Hamas and is the leader of the European Council for Fatwa and Research (ECFR), the theological body of the European Muslim Brotherhood. MEMRI has produced two video compilations of Qaradawi’s extremist statements. The first collection contains Qaradawi’s statements about Europe and the US as well as about Israel and Jews. The second collection contains various statements by Qaradawi on social issues such as discussing the killing of homosexuals and stating that beating is “suitable” for some wives. Qaradawi been banned from entering the US since 1999 and UK since 2008. Last year, authorities also refused him entry into France.

According to a Libyan intelligence document, the Muslim Brotherhood, including Egyptian President Morsi, were involved in the September 11, 2012 terrorist attack on the U.S. consulate in Benghazi, where several Americans, including U.S. ambassador to Libya, Chris Stevens, were killed.
On Wednesday, June 26, several Arabic websites, including Veto Gate, quoted the intelligence report, which apparently was first leaked to the Kuwaiti paper, Al Ra’i. Prepared by Mahmoud Ibrahim Sharif, Director of National Security for Libya, the report is addressed to the nation’s Minister of Interior.
It discusses the preliminary findings of the investigation, specifically concerning an “Egyptian cell” which was involved in the consulate attack. “Based on confessions derived from some of those arrested at the scene” six people, “all of them Egyptians” from the jihad group Ansar al-Sharia (“Supporters of Islamic Law), were arrested.
According to the report, during interrogations, these Egyptian jihadi cell members “confessed to very serious and important information concerning the financial sources of the group and the planners of the event and the storming and burning of the U.S. consulate in Benghazi…. And among the more prominent figures whose names were mentioned by cell members during confessions were: Egyptian President Mohamed Morsi; preacher Safwat Hegazi; Saudi businessman Mansour Kadasa, owner of the satellite station, Al-Nas; Egyptian Sheikh Muhammad Hassan; former presidential candidate, Hazim Salih Abu Isma’il…”
It should be noted that these findings are unsurprising: the supremacism of prominent Brotherhood figure Safwat Hegazi is such that he publicly declares the Brotherhood “will rule the world“; Saudi Mansour’s hate-mongering, pro-Brotherhood TV station repeatedly aired footage of the YouTube Muhammad movie inciting violence around the Muslim world; popular Sheikh Muhammad Hassan holds that smiling to non-Muslims is forbidden, except when trying to win them over to Islam; and Sheikh Hazim Abu Ismail is simply an openly anti-freedom, anti-infidel religious leader.
As for President Morsi, a video made during the consulate attack records people speaking in the Egyptian dialect: as they approach the beleaguered U.S. compound, one of them yells to the besiegers, “Don’t shoot—Dr. Morsi sent us!”

Sunni Scholar Al-Qaradhawi: Saudi Clerics Were Right about Hizbullah and I Was Wrong; King Abdullah a Dear Friend of Mine.
Following are excerpts from an interview with leading Sunni scholar Sheik Yousuf Al-Qaradhawi, which aired on Al-Arabiya TV on June 9, 2013.
Sheik Yousuf Al-Qaradhawi: It is not just the army that is fighting in Syria, but the Russians and the Iranians. The Iranians are fighting us through the money they send, and by means of their weapons, their men, and their policies.
The most dominant group that is fighting the Syrian people is the group that calls itself "Hizbullah" ["Party of God"], although it is, in fact, the "Party of Satan." "Satan has overcome them and made them forget the remembrance of Allah. They are the party of Satan. It is the party of Satan that will be the losers." They have come to fight the Syrian people. They are killing them by the thousands. But Allah will not let them be. Allah will take revenge on them for the Syrian people.
I defended Hizbullah when it was fighting Israel. I defended them when the most important sheiks in Saudi Arabia warned against Hizbullah, against the strife they sow, against their deception, and against what they harbor within. I defended them.
As it turns out, the position of those clerics was more mature and discerning than mine. I took things at face value. After all, I want to unite the Muslims and bring them together. The Muslims are fighting the Zionists. How could I possibly take the same position as the Zionists?
But it turns out that the sheiks – may Allah have mercy upon those who have passed away and preserve those who are alive – saw things more clearly than me.
Those people, whom I defended, have come to kill their brethren in Syria.
I call upon anybody who is capable, anyone who has experienced fighting anywhere in the world, and can go and help his brothers in Al-Qusseir and those parts, to go and do so, if there is nothing to stop him.
I call upon individuals and countries to do so – especially the countries of the Arab Gulf, who are closest to [Sunni] Syrians, but also upon all the other Arab countries.
Interviewer: Are you calling for Jihad in Syria?
Sheik Yousuf Al-Qaradhawi: Jihad is now incumbent upon all Muslims, each according to his capabilities – both individuals and countries. Nobody must spare a thing in helping this country, which will be destroyed if we do not help it. The Islamic nation is capable of helping it.
The ulema of Saudi Arabia have long been my beloved brothers. I am not a stranger in Saudi Arabia. I am a member of the Muslim World League and of the International Islamic Fiqh Academy. King Abdullah is a dear friend of mine. Allah be praised, I share nothing but love and trust with these brothers. Source: Memri

Leading Sunni Scholar Al-Qaradhawi in Visit to Gaza Calls for Jihad, Prays to Become Martyr.
Following are excerpts from the coverage of leading Sunni scholar Yousuf Al-Qaradhaw's visit to Gaza, which aired on Al-Aqsa TV and Al-Jazeera Network on May 8-11, 2013:
Hamas Prime Minister Ismail Haniya: Today, we say with pride that Sheik Yousuf Al-Qaradhawi is the sheik of Jihad in Palestine, the sheik of Al-Aqsa, of Jerusalem, and of Palestine. We say this out of recognition for the great role played by him, as well as other Muslim scholars, in strengthening our position in this land, and in supporting the steadfastness of our people and of the resistance.
We have been talking [with the people of Gaza] about how our entire Jihad, all our efforts, our lives, our hopes, and our aspirations are to die for the sake of Allah, so that Palestine can live. Brothers, this is essential.
Master of Ceremonies: Now we shall present our imam, Sheik Yousuf Al-Qaradhawi, with a Palestinian passport and Palestinian citizenship. The prime minister will now sign it.
Yousuf Al-Qaradhawi: We are working toward the liberation of the prisoners, and the liberation of the land of Palestine. We are striving to liberate Palestine in its entirety, without excluding a single inch. Palestine in its entirety has been usurped by those Zionists, who were empowered by the West as a certain point in time. They seized our land, banishing its people to all corners of the world. They began to live in this land as if it were their own, but it does not belong to them. They came from all over, from different countries. With our Jihad, we strive to liberate the land of Palestine, and to bring back all those who were scattered to all corners of the world – to Arab and Muslim countries, to countries of the West, to countries of the East, to Europe, to America, and all over. They have been dispersed worldwide. These people have the right to return.
For a long time I have been praying to Allah to honor me by granting me martyrdom for His sake. I was expecting the Israelis to fire a missile at me, so that I could become a martyr for the sake of Allah. I pray to Allah...
Crowd: Allah Akbar. All praise to Allah.
Allah Akbar. All praise to Allah.
Allah Akbar. All praise to Allah.
Allah Akbar. All praise to Allah.
Yousuf Al-Qaradhawi: I pray to Allah to grant us this martyrdom, Allah willing.Source: Memri.
