In a post in his Twitter account, senior Al Jazeera journalist Faisal Edroos published Saudi Arabia’s 10 demands from Qatar, which were put forward in the form of a 24-hour ultimatum to the Doha government on Tuesday night.

These conditions are Riyadh’s prerequisites for normalization of its relations with the fellow GCC member state.

Saudis have reportedly given Qatar a 24-hour ultimatum to fulfil a number of conditions they set in response to efforts to mediate between the two Arab states.

In a meeting with Kuwait’s Emir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, who was in Jeddah on June 6 to mediate in an ongoing rift between Doha and a number of Persian Gulf Arab states, Qatar was given the one-day ultimatum to fulfil ten conditions set by the Al Saud regime.

According to Edroos, the demands are:

1. Immediate severance of diplomatic relations with Iran,


2. Expulsion of all members of the Palestinian resistance movement Hamas from Qatar,


3. Freezing all bank accounts of Hamas members and refraining from any deal with them,


4. Expulsion of all Muslim Brotherhood members from Qatar,


5. Expulsion of anti-[P]GCC elements,


6. Ending support for ‘terrorist organisations’,


7. Stopping interference in Egyptian affairs,


8. Ceasing the broadcast of the Al Jazeera news channel,


9. Apologising to all [Persian] Gulf governments for ‘abuses’ by Al Jazeera,


10. Pledging that it (Qatar) will not carry out any actions that contradict the policies of the [P]GCC and adhering to its charter.

He added in case Qatar abides by the conditions laid out by Saudi Arabia, an emergency meeting of all [P]GCC leaders will be held in the Saudi capital of Jeddah.

The overwhelming belief among Saudi, Emirati and many Arab officials is that there are three kinds of lies: 'Lies, damned lies… and Qatari statements.'

The severing of diplomatic ties with Doha by a number of Arab and Muslim countries — most notably fellow Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) members Saudi Arabia, Bahrain and the UAE — is not something that should be taken lightly; nor should it be assumed that such a tough measure was sudden or came out of the blue.

In fact, anyone who has monitored the recent heated exchange of angry editorials — which has been going on for over two weeks between the Arabic-language media outlets of Qatar and those of Saudi Arabia and the UAE — would have easily predicted that relations were heading rapidly toward this unfortunate point.
However, the only party that seems to have ignored the clear signals of where things were headed was the government of Qatar. This is surreal, given that it has the most to lose.

This time however other countries, such as Egypt and the eastern-based government of Libya, are on board in boycotting Doha. What is also different this time around is that Riyadh, Abu Dhabi and Manama are cutting off ties completely with Qatar, as opposed to only recalling their ambassadors as they did three years ago.

Why now?

The answer to that question is that the Qatari government has become like the “boy who cried wolf.”
In other words, the overwhelming belief among Saudi, Emirati and many Arab officials is that there are three kinds of lies: Lies, damned lies… and Qatari statements. This is particularly the case given that more often than not, Doha’s actions simply do not match its words.
Take the official denial that Sheikh Tamim praised Iran, Hamas and Hezbollah in those recent statements. Even if we were to believe that Sheikh Tamim never said those things, Doha is still a home for the Hamas leadership. There are still posters in Lebanon hung by Hezbollah that say “Shukran Qatar” (Thank you, Qatar). Even after the controversial alleged statements were made, the Qatari emir reached out publicly to President Hassan Rouhani of Iran and said he had instructed his government to enhance bilateral relations more than ever before.

The truth is that the Qataris — at least when it comes to their foreign policy — are known to be pathological liars. One only has to recall what Qatari Foreign Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al-Thani told Arab News last month, just a few days before the recent GCC spat began to emerge. “We don’t, won’t and didn’t support the Muslim Brotherhood,” were Al-Thani’s shocking words in that interview.

While many had thought the young Sheikh Tamim only needed time to shift away from the controversial foreign policy of his father (Sheikh Hamad, who willingly stepped down in 2013), what Doha was doing made it clear that the young emir was nothing more than a chip off the old block.

Doha - Emir of Qatar Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani met, on Wednesday, with a delegation of the Muslim Brotherhood leaders in Doha to review the group’s activities in Egypt, according to Al Manar Palestinian newspaper.

The meeting was attended by head of the Qatari Intelligence Agency and the Emir’s adviser who is responsible for communication with the Brotherhood.

Qatari sources said that the Emir has criticized the Brotherhood for their frequent failures in Egypt, threatening to stop financing the group unless they escalated their operations. The source revealed that Qatar finances terrorist cells in Egypt, mostly from the Brotherhood, and that Tamim was not satisfied with the group’s recent operations.

They pointed out that the Brotherhood cells in Libya and Sudan can no longer smuggle neither weapons nor ammunition into Egyptian territory, due to the strict security measures imposed by the Egyptian army on the borders with the two countries.

They added that Qatar cooperates with regional allies in attracting terrorist elements from the gangs of the Nusra Front, affiliated to Al-Qaeda, and the so-called Islamic State (IS) group, so as to send them to the Egyptian territory.

The Egyptian judiciary has banned the Brotherhood and ordered the freezing of the group's assets in September 2013, following the overthrow of former president Mohamed Morsi on 3 July 2013.

President Barack Obama reportedly rejected advice from Gen. Lloyd Austin, commander of U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM), to send a limited number of combat troops to the Middle East to assist in the fight against ISIS.

According to Dustin Walker of RealClearDefense, Obama refused the “best military advice,” which was “to send a modest contingent of American troops, principally Special Operations forces” in an advisory role.

It was not the first time that President Obama has rejected the military’s advice. In fact, every major military action of the Obama administration has been undertaken contrary to the guidance of senior military leaders. In Afghanistan, generals wanted more troops than Obama committed to the “surge”; in Libya, the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff opposed military involvement; and in Iraq, the military wanted to retain a residual force.

In each of these cases, the military’s advice and/or reservations have generally proved correct. Afghanistan has been a long retreat due to insufficient military commitment and the declaration of a withdrawal timeline for political, not military, reasons. In Libya, victory came quickly but the country has fallen to Islamists in the aftermath. And Obama’s hasty, complete withdrawal from Iraq created favorable conditions. More than a dozen American Muslim leaders condemned the Islamic State's (IS) brutal tactics as contrary to Islam Wednesday during a press conference held at the National Press Club.

But in doing so, several speakers urged the public to ignore the terrorist group's theological motivations.
Talib Shareef, imam of Masjid Muhammad in Washington, D.C., exhorted the media to refer to IS as the "Anti-Islamic" State because its actions run contrary to the teachings of Mohammed.

"This is not an Islamic State of being; it's not an Islamic State of mind; and it's not an Islamic State that the prophet himself created in his first state, where he saw this beautiful peace and equality for all religions – Jews, Christians that were there with him," Shareef said, noting what Muslims call the Medina Charter.

Another speaker, former Council on American-Islamic Affairs (CAIR) Tampa director Ahmed Bedier, later wrote on Twitter that IS "is not a product of Islam," and blamed America for its emergence.

CAIR, which portrays FBI agents as ruthless schemers out to set up Muslims for trumped-up charges, was noticeably absent from Wednesday's news conference. Its Minnesota chapter obstructed FBI investigations into al-Shabaab's recruitment of Somali Muslims in the Twin Cities, and its San Francisco chapter published a poster saying: "Build A Wall of Resistance: Don't Talk to the FBI."

Another group, the Assembly of Muslim Jurists of America (AMJA), which counts Magid as a member, published an article in 2008 written by Hatim al-Haj, a member of its fatwa committee, saying that working for the FBI was "impermissible" because of the "harm they inflict on Muslims."Read the full story here.

A Canadian Islamic preacher banned from several countries due to his views has been detained in the Philippines under suspicion he incited and recruited people to commit terrorism.

Bilal Philips, a Jamaican-born preacher who grew up in Toronto and is a Canadian citizen, will be deported within days, according to Siegfred Mison, the head of the Philippines immigration bureau.

"Based on various sources of information, he was supposed to be inciting and recruiting people to conduct terrorist activities," Mison told reporters, but gave no details of the sources.

Germany expelled Philips in 2011 for reportedly giving a speech in Frankfurt claiming homosexuals should be killed. Britain, Australia and the United States have also reportedly banned Philips.

However, two Toronto-based friends of Philips told QMI Agency Wednesday that despite his controversial interpretations of Islamic teaching, they never heard Philips incite or condone terrorism.
"It's utterly ridiculous, preposterous," said Ibrahim Downey, president of a Toronto-based company that offers "inspirational counselling" who said he is Philips' family friend and has known him for years.

"I've never seen anything (violent) from him," Downey said. "He explains the (texts from the Qur'an) as they are supposed to be understood, does that make him Conservative? What's that got to do with terrorism?"

Downey heard about Philips' detention Sunday night and Philips' family said the preacher was on a speaking tour in the Philippines.

Philips is an internationally known imam. He founded an online, free Islamic studies university and has written scores of books on Islam.

Mubin Shaikh, a former undercover police agent who said he's known Philips for more than 20 years, said he was surprised by Philips' detention.Shaikh said he never heard Philips incite violence or condone terrorist activity.

However, Shaikh admitted that Philips was controversial."He's a strict conservative," Shaikh said. "He ran into trouble for stating the traditional Islamic position on homosexuality. But he's never had any connection to (inciting terrorism).

While Philips is reportedly currently based in Doha, Qatar, it is unclear to what country he will be deported. Hmmmm....Purely coincidentally he's based in Qatar the Muslim Brotherhood Den.

President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan has indicated that there is no possibility of a thaw in Turkey's relations with Egypt over Gaza, saying any rapprochement with the coup administration would contradict Turkey's democratic struggle, Al Jazeera Turk reported.

When asked why Turkey does not take a step towards better relations with Egypt, which will play a key role in any future solution in the Gaza conflict, Erdoğan underlined “Turkey's struggle for democracy.”

He said, as a person who believes in democracy, it is not possible for him to accept a military coup that took place only a year after former President Mohammed Morsi was democratically elected to power.

Giza Criminal Court commuted the death sentences of several leading Muslim Brotherhood figures to life in prison on Saturday.

In June the court sentenced Brotherhood Supreme Guide Mohamed Badie and 13 others defendants to death on charges of inciting murder during clashes at Al-Isteqama mosque in Giza last August, following Islamist president Mohamed Morsi's ouster.

On Saturday the court downgraded the sentences of Badie, Mohamed El-Beltagi, Essam El-Erian and five other Brotherhood figures to life in prison, and upheld the death sentences of six other defendants tried in absentia, including Islamist figure Assem Abd El-Maged, who is at large.

The court had referred the case to Egypt's top cleric, the grand mufti, for religious advice after the sentences were given in June.

Under Egyptian law, all death sentences are referred to the cleric for approval. Although his decision is not binding, the court usually adopts it and issues a final verdict based on his advice. The defendants can then appeal.

In this case, the cleric initially rejected the June death sentences. The judge then sent the case back to the mufti once more to reconsider.

Hundreds of Morsi supporters were sentenced to death in recent months, mostly on charges of murder, attempted murder, initiating violence and joining a terrorist group, namely the Muslim Brotherhood which was outlawed late last year.

Badie himself has been sentenced to death in other recent convictions.

Italian authorities have already issued an alert giving warnings on places that our potential targets to terrorist, and one on the list, being very significant, was “places of worship,” which would include the Vatican.

It has been reported that at least 50 people from Italy are now fighting for ISIS, 80% of whom are native Italians who converted to Islam. One of the reasons for their conversion, according to one Italian newspaper, was “distrust in the Catholic Church,” indicating the connection between Islam and anti-Catholicism.

Most interestingly, the goal to force the Vatican to become Muslim was recently stated by an ISIS agent in Italy named Imam Ismar Mesinovic, a Bosnian Muslim who stationed himself in the country to recruit Italian converts to fight for ISIS. He said:

We Muslims believe that one day the whole world will be an Islamic state. Our goal is to make sure that even the Vatican will be Muslim. Maybe I will not be able to see it, but that time will come.

In addition to its holdings, the group is also assumed to pilfer from pipelines and storage facilities, said Valerie Marcel, oil and Middle East analyst at the Chatham House think tank in London.

Marcel says ISIS, also known as ISIL or the Islamic State, takes some of its crude and refines it. “They have an open pit, they burn the oil very crudely,” Marcel says. “And then they have some gasoline which they can provide to local residents, and to their own Humvees.”

The rest of the oil goes to market, largely in Turkey, through a murky set of intermediaries.

“Some of them are Iraqi middlemen, and they take the crude to the border,” Marcel says. “Others are Turkish middlemen. And they’re able to actually sometimes get the oil sold directly to a refinery in Turkey. Al-Qaeda this week published an online magazine featuring instructions on how to build homemade car bombs and an appeal to Muslims to attack UK and US targets in the vein of the Boston bombers.

The English-language magazine, entitled ‘Palestine: Betrayal of the Guilty Conscience Al-Malahem’, urges Muslims in the West to assemble pressure cooker bombs like those used to attack the Boston marathon last year.

In a list of “examples of targets,” the magazine suggests attacks on the UK’s Royal Military Academy at Sandhurst, MI5’s Thames House and Marks and Spencer department stores during Friday prayers, so as to avoid harming Muslims.

The list features US targets including Times Square, casinos in Las Vegas, Georgia Military College, the US Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs and the General Atomics headquarters in San Diego. It also suggests attacks on Israeli, British and American company headquarters and holiday destinations abroad, oil tankers and busy train stations.

A nine-page spread offers instructions on how to “make a bomb in the kitchen of your Mom,” step-by-step photographs, a shopping list, and admiring words about Boston bombers the Tsarnaev brothers.

“This recipe gives you the ability to make a car bomb even in countries with tight security and surveillance,” one article reads, before providing a list of supplies including cooking gas, oxygen gas, a barometer, decoration lamps and matches.

“My Muslim brother: we are conveying to you our military training right into your kitchen to relieve you of the difficulty of traveling to us,” it reads.

“If you are sincere in your intentions to serve the religion of Allāh, then all what you have to do is enter your kitchen and make an explosive device that would damage the enemy if you put your trust in Allāh and then use this explosive device properly.”

A timeline of terror attacks, including 9/11 and the Boston bombings is concluded with a blank entry marked '201?' implying a terror attack on American or British soil is planned for the near future.

“The timeline concludes with the date 201?’ and blank spaces and question marks for the photo and information of the next attack - implying that it is coming soon,” Steve Stalinsky, of the Middle East Media Research Institute, told Fox News.

The magazine is a supplement to the terror group’s Inspire magazine, aimed at encouraging Muslims in the West to carry out lone-wolf terror attacks. “Inspire Magazine's goal is to empower Muslims. And what is empowerment without being strong, powerful and intelligent?” the publications reads.

“In this section, we give you strength, power and intelligence. Believe me, using car bombs gives you all that.”

According to Bugün, German state TV channel ARD has claimed that militants from European countries, en route to Syria and Iraq, stopped over in İstanbul’s Fatih* district first.

The daily states that ARD based its report on European intelligence units, and claimed that ISIS militants were given 400 U.S. dollars allowance each in the unofficial office. The report also notes that militants received support for entering Syria from the office in Fatih.

Bugün reports that according to European Commision officials, militants who return home after fighting for ISIS put the security of European countries at risk.

Bugün also notes that some of these people spend their annual leave in the Syrian training camps before returning home to their jobs.

According to officials, these individuals are “passive” at the moment, but are trained for action in Europe for when “the time arrives”. Presidential jet arrives one day after Erdoğan inauguration, was ordered TWO years ago by Erdogan.


The jet, registered as TC-TUR, landed at an Istanbul airport after a 13-hour flight from San Diego Turkey’s new presidential jet, which was likened by some observers to the United States’ Air Force One, has been delivered, one day after President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan’s inauguration.

The Airbus A330-200 Prestige, which landed at Istanbul’s Sabiha Gökçen Airport in the morning of Aug. 29, was ordered by Erdoğan two and a half years ago.

The 90-seat aircraft, which was modified by San Diego-based Gore Design, will start service in Ankara after customs and repainting procedures are completed in Istanbul.

Main opposition Republican People’s Party (CHP) deputy chair Sezgin Tanrıkulu filed a parliamentary question on Aug. 27, demanding a government response over reports that the aircraft cost 436 million Turkish Liras and was bought using state finances. Recent statements by Youssef Qaradawi suggest that the 87-year-old leader of the Global Muslim Brotherhood is under great deal of stress no doubt related to pressure he and Qatar, his host nation, are facing from a variety of quarters.In a filmed interview for the Turkish media before the recent Istanbul meeting of his International Union of Muslim Scholars (IUMS) and reviewed by the GMBDW:

Qaradawi stressed that they are having this conference in Istanbul, the capital of the [Historic] Caliphate, and that new Turkey brings together religious and non-religious issues, the Arab and non-Arab, and the nation in Asia and Africa, adding that “the nation should be based on it”.

Qaradawi blessed Erdogan for his election as the Turkish President; in order to justify Erdogan’s success, Qaradawi quotes a Quranic verse which speaks about the Prophet’s cooperation with Allah and states that “Angle Gabriel and the righteous of the believers and the angels, moreover, are [his] assistants. (Quran 66:4)

In what appears to be a battle of dueling caliphate claims, the GMBDW had reported in July that Qaradawi had ruled that a declaration of a Caliphate by the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL) is “void under Shariah.” In addition to apparently declaring Turkey to be the capital of the Caliphate, an Egyptian news report of unknown reliability said recently: Sources close to Qaradawi have said that he is considering relocating to Turkey due to the deteriorating relations between Qatar and the Gulf countries.

An agreement has been reached to form a new Islamic alliance of Arab and Islamic countries to be headed by Turkish Prime Minister Erdogan. The agreement was said to have been reached during meetings of the “International Muslim Brotherhood” held on the sideline of the Istanbul conference and where Erdogan and Egyptian Muslim Brotherhood figure Amr Darrag were present. Tunisian Muslim Brotherhood leader Rachid Ghannouchi will take over IUMS from Qaradawi.

The GMBDW cautions that as noted, this Egyptian report cannot be independently confirmed and appears to be contradicted in part by Qatari media reports that Qaradawi was re-elected as IUMS Chairman during an election held at the Istanbul conference.

At the end July, the Investigative Project translated other remarks by Qaradawi in which he defended the building of military tunnels by Hamas with the interesting interpretation that they were needed to protect Hamas from Israel:

President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi announced Tuesday a new Suez Canal project to dig a 72-kilometre canal alongside the original, to be implemented over a year at a cost of EGP 29bn ($4bn).

The announcement was made during the inauguration ceremony of the Suez Canal Axis Development Project on Tuesday in Ismailia. The Chairman of the Suez Canal Authority Mohab Memish provided a detailed presentation on the projects that come under the national project.

Al-Sisi called on the army’s engineering corps, who will directly supervise the project, to conclude the project in one year instead of the previously scheduled 3–year timeline. Al-Sisi attributed the shortened time period to the “the deteriorating security” which could threaten the project.

The president called on all Egyptians to participate in funding the project through a stock market IPO (Initial Public Offering), asking Egyptians resident in the country to contribute EGP 100, and those living abroad to donate $100.

The president said the government had refused any foreign participation in the project, stressing that only national banks, companies and investors would be able to finance it.

Memish said that the new canal will be established to increase the absorptive capacity of the Suez Canal to 97 passing ships per day, up from the current rate of 49. The project would involve 35kms of dry digging and 37kms of “expansion and deep” digging.

Upon completion, the project would see canal revenues increase by 259%, Memish added, up from current annual revenues of $5bn.

The new canal, which would ensure that shipping traffic would not stop, will be carried out with the participation of the armed forces along with 17 companies.

The Suez Canal Axis Development Project was adopted by the current government after being proposed during the rule of former president Mohamed Morsi. It had been rejected by the armed forces at that time for “national security” concerns.

A Belgian watchdog on anti-Semitism complained to the mayor of a suburb of Liege against owners of a cafe whose window display featured a sign that said Jews were not allowed inside.

The Belgian League Against Anti-Semitism, or LBCA, filed the complaint Wednesday against the parties responsible for hanging a Turkish- and French-language sign at a cafe in Saint-Nicolas, a town located just east of the southern city of Liege.

The Turkish text reads: “Dogs are allowed in this establishment but Jews are not under any circumstances.” The French text replaces “Jews” with “Zionists.”

Following the LBCA complaint, the mayor of Saint-Nicolas, Jacques Heleven, dispatched police to the cafe, who had the sign removed and confirmed the LBCA report.

The window display also included a Palestinian flag, an Israeli flag crossed out with a red “X” sign, and a kaffieh, or Palestinian shawl, draped around it.

“LBCA will file in the coming hours a criminal complaint with the Liege prosecutor over the actions of those responsible for this violation of the July 30 law against racism and xenophobia of 1981,” LBCA said in a statement.

Last week, the Belgian Jewish newspaper Joods Actueel reported that a shop owner in Antwerp had refused to sell an Orthodox Jewish woman clothes “out of protest.” An employee confirmed that the shop had temporarily adopted a policy of not selling to Jews.

Western Europe has seen a significant rise in anti-Semitic hate speech and attacks - including against nine synagogues in France – since Israel launched its Operation Protective Edge against Hamas in Gaza on July 8, following multiple launching of rockets from Gaza into Israeli cities and towns.
