Turkish media is reporting that this year’s annual Muslim Fair in Brussels has attracted thousands of visitors. According to the report:

A fair organized by Muslims in Belgian capital Brussels has attracted thousands of visitors at its stands mainly theming clothes, accessories, halal food and natural cosmetics as well as Rabia movement (a civil movement protesting against the military coup in Egypt) and resistance against Syria’s brutal regime. Organizers think the fair will reach a total visitors number of 25 thousand by the end of tomorrow, the final day of the fair.

The Muslim Fair aiming the struggle against Islamaphobia and intercultural dialogue is being held at Brussels’s historic Tour & Taxi Cultural Centre.

The fair is also an opportunity for the visitors to meet and listen to speeches from intellectuals and scholars from Europe and the Arab world including Saudi Arabia, Morocco and Sudan on several topics like reform in Islam, refugee crisis in Europe, message of the Quran.

The 4-day fair was organised by the League of Muslims in Belgium in collaboration with Gedis Company which is based in Paris.

Islamic Relief, a humanitarian organization, has established a refugee tent to draw attention to the living conditions of Syrian refugees at camps. A Palestinian humanitarian organization has opened a stand to receive donations for Palestinians in need. They are running a campaign for Gazan children with the motto "Do you want to change the life of a Gazan child?" The organization also carries out campaigns for Palestinians living in Syria, Jordan and Lebanon.

The program for this year’s Fair indicates that numerous Muslim Brotherhood figures were scheduled to speak including:

• Abdallah Ben Mansour (President of the Federation of Islamic Organizations in Europe)

• Issam El Bashir (Sudanese, European Council for Fatwa and Research)

• Hassan Iquioussen (leader in the Union des Organisations Islamiques de France)

Also scheduled to speak were two Salafi figures-  Abdullah al Mosleh,  Chairman of the International Commission on Scientific Signs in Qur’an & Sunnah in Makkah and Omar Abdelkafy, an Egyptian cleric who recently made controversial remarks about the 911 attacks. A Turkish aid group said on Aug. 11 it would send ships again to challenge the Israeli blockade of Gaza, four years after Israeli commandos stormed its flotilla bound for the Palestinian territory and killed 10 people.
  
The Humanitarian Relief Foundation (İHH) said in an e-mailed statement that members of a "coalition" of pro-Palestinian activists from 12 countries had met in Istanbul at the weekend and decided to launch a convoy "in the shadow of the latest Israeli aggression on Gaza," referring to the latest, month-long war. Fighting has abated under a 72-hour ceasefire deal.
   
"The Freedom Flotilla Coalition affirmed that, as most governments are complicit, the responsibility falls on civil society to challenge the Israeli blockade on Gaza," it said.
   
An IHH spokeswoman did not elaborate. The group will hold a news conference on Tuesday, she said. Hmmm....I'm sure Herr President will be willing to send Turkish troops along.

Following repeated calls to kill Jews in protest rallies in The Hague, representatives of the Dutch Jewish community urged local authorities to crack down on anti-Semitic incitement.

The appeal by the Center for Information and Documentation on Israel, or CIDI, came Friday following two demonstrations in The Hague this month in which protesters made menacing statements about Jews.
“The Hague is known internationally as a city of peace and law,” CIDI wrote in the statement. “It is unfathomable that this could happen in this city.”

The statement was in reference to a demonstration by 150 people in the heavily Muslim Schilderswijk neighborhood of the Hague. Protesters who had gathered there on Thursday evening to demonstrate against Israel’s actions in Gaza chanted “death to Israel, death to the Jews” in Arabic.

The prosecutor’s office of the Hague said in a statement that a police officer who speaks Arabic was present at the demonstration but did not find that the calls “crossed the line.” (I Wonder if he was driving the police car below?)

But the prosecutor’s office will review video footage of the demonstration to determine whether the calls constituted incitement to hate and will punish the parties responsible if their actions violated the law, the statement said.

The CIDI, a watchdog monitoring anti-Semitism, was joined in its call by the Central Jewish Board, or CJO — the umbrella group representing Jewish communities and organizations in the Netherlands.
An earlier protest in the Schilderswijk on July 4 — four days before Israel launched its assault on Hamas — featured similar calls. That rally was to protest the arrest of Dutch Muslims who had fought with jihadists in Syria.

But Israeli government sources told Army Radio the ceasefire terms proposed by Kerry were “completely unreasonable.” An unnamed senior Israeli government official flatly disputed Kerry’s assertion that his offer was “built on the Egyptian initiative” – which Israel accepted last week and Hamas rejected. In fact, the official was quoted saying, the Kerry offer is not built on the Egyptian proposal and tilts heavily toward Hamas.

The Army Radio report highlighted that the US on Monday signed an $11 billion arms deal with Qatar, and noted that Qatar is championing Hamas’s demands in the ceasefire negotiations, and is also alleged by Israel to be financing Hamas’s rocket production, tunnel digging infrastructure, and other elements of its military infrastructure. The radio report also claimed that Ban Ki-moon “is flying around the region on a Qatari plane.”

Indications from the lengthy Israeli cabinet meeting that rejected Kerry’s offer Friday are that the ministers were incensed that the terms of the deal would not have enabled Israel to continue to locate and demolish a network of dozens of tunnels that Hamas has dug, up to a mile or more long, from under Gaza residential areas all the way beneath the Israeli border.

The formal text of the ceasefire proposal offered by Kerry and rejected by Israel had not been released as of Friday evening. Earlier, though, The Times of Israel reported on what Arab sources said were its key elements.

The Kerry proposal, they said, provides for an immediate halt to hostilities to be followed 48 hours later by the start of five to-seven days of contacts between Israel, Palestinian and Egyptian delegations in Cairo, with the Palestinian delegation including Hamas officials. The talks in Egypt would include discussion of Hamas’s call for the lifting of the so-called siege of the Gaza Strip, and other demands.

In his comments on Friday in Cairo, Kerry said that Egypt had indeed offered to bring the “Palestinian factions,” and other interested parties, and Israel, to Cairo for such talks. “We still have some terminology” to work through, Kerry said. “But we are confident that we have a fundamental framework” that can work.

The Arab sources said the Kerry terms would provide for all military activity by the sides to halt immediately. On the Palestinian side, this provision was interpreted as meaning that Israel’s activities to find and destroy Hamas’s cross-border tunnels would also immediately be halted. But Israel has reportedly pushed for terms that would enable it to continue tackling the Hamas tunnels after a halt to hostilities.

The Arab sources said the discussions in Cairo would cover Hamas demands relating to: opening border crossings between Gaza and Israel; opening the Rafah crossing between Gaza and Egypt; the release of recently rearrested prisoners from the Shalit deal; the release of some 30 convicted terrorists, including Israeli Arabs, who were set to go free under the collapsed Israeli-Palestinian peace talks in late March; widening Palestinian fishing rights off the Gaza coast, and the establishment of a Gaza seaport.

The Turkish humanitarian relief organisation (IHH) is currently organising a "Freedom Flotilla II" which will carry humanitarian aid to the besieged Gaza Strip, IHH chairman Bulent Yildrim said Thursday.

In statements to Gulf Online, Yildrim said that his organisation has embarked on legal procedures and paperwork required to obtain a permit for the trip. As soon as a final permit is issued, the IHH along with other international organisations will immediately set up the convoy.

The chairman of IHH, a major organiser of the Gaza Freedom Flotilla I, said that Turkish army troops will accompany the ships to protect it from any potential attack, pointing out that his organisation demanded the government to provide protection for them as Turkish citizens.

Maze Keheil, the president of the European Campaign for Lifting the Siege on Gaza, confirmed his campaign's intention to take part in the new flotilla, as it did in first one in 2010.Hmmmm.....He really thinks the patriots will protect him from Israeli nukes?

Turkey and Qatar have welcomed the 12-hour ceasefire in Gaza which aims to give Palestinians the chance to receive food and water supplies and allow hospitals to get medical supplies.

Turkish Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoğlu and his Qatari counterpart Khalid bin Mohammed Al Attiyah issued a joint statement early on July 26 following the approval of the truce by the Gaza-based Palestinian movement, Hamas, and the Israeli government.

"We reiterate our will to break our back working for a negotiated and sustained ceasefire between the two parties with the UN, USA and our other international partners," the statement said.

The statement said the two countries also appreciated Hamas' immediate approval of the truce.

Meanwhile, Turkish Deputy Prime Minister Bülent Arınç has said it would be "fantasy" to talk about his country normalizing relations with Israel under the current conditions in Gaza.
"Normalization is difficult at this point and even impossible," Arınç said late July 25 in a televised interview. "If the Israeli government changes its mentality or something positive takes place regarding the Gaza Strip, Turkey would reconsider its stance on normalization with Tel Aviv," he continued.

Turkey has said that although Israel fulfilled two of the three conditions - an apology and compensation - which Turkey had set for the normalization of ties after the Mavi Marmara incident, it remained unwilling to fulfill the third condition of lifting its embargo on Gaza.

President Obama said the Federal Aviation Administration ban on Israeli flights was based purely on safety considerations.

“The initial ban that was imposed by the FAA was based on Israel needing to show us that in fact it was safe for commercial airlines to fly in,” Obama said Thursday in an interview with CNBC.

“They worked through a checklist of concerns and mitigation measures that needed to be taken. Having completed those and convinced the FAA we moved forward,” he said. “And by the way the European governments in terms of regulating their airlines did the exact same thing.”

The ban, which lasted 36 hours from Tuesday noon to Wednesday midnight, eastern U.S. time, was imposed hours after a rocket launched from the Gaza Strip during the current war landed in a town a mile away from Ben Gurion International airport.

Israel’s government and a number of pro-Israel groups had said the ban was excessive and unmerited.

Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas), a likely presidential candidate in 2016, said the ban was a means of pressuring Israel to accede to a U.S. proposal for a cease-fire in the Gaza Strip fighting, which Obama administration officials described as “ridiculous.”

Obama said neither political considerations nor the close U.S.-Israel relationship would influence any decision to impose a ban.

“We have not made decisions when it comes to airline safety based on not just politics but even our strong alliance with Israel,” he said. “We have to just look at the facts.”

Egypt's Position On Operation Protective Edge Reflects Conflict Between Its Hatred For Hamas And Its Solidarity With The Palestinians

The position of the Egyptian regime and its supporters regarding the current fighting between Israel and Hamas in Gaza is characterized by the internal conflict between their hostility towards Hamas and their desire to express solidarity with the Palestinians.

Egypt sees Hamas as responsible for the crisis, because of the June 12 kidnapping and murder of three Israeli teens by its members.

It also blames Hamas for the Gaza residents' ongoing suffering, arguing that the movement had abandoned the Palestinian national struggle and instead was pursing power, undermining the unity and interests of the Palestinian people, and serving the interests of foreign elements – chiefly the Muslim Brotherhood (MB), Qatar, and Iran.

Finally, it blames Hamas for escalating the crisis and triggering an IDF ground assault by rejecting the ceasefire initiative of Egyptian President 'Abd Al-Fattah Al-Sisi.

In the eyes of the Egyptian regime that followed the June 30, 2013 ouster of president Muhammad Mursi, Hamas is an enemy. 'Imad Al-Din Adib, columnist for the Egyptian daily Al-Watan who is close to the regime, sees Egypt as no longer applying the concept of "the enemy of my enemy is my friend" vis-à-vis Hamas. Instead, it views Hamas as a branch of the MB that it considers to be working against the will and interests of the Egyptian people.[1]

However, along with the accusations in the Egyptian media against Hamas, and its schadenfreude at Hamas' misfortunes since Israel launched its attack on Gaza,[2] there have also been calls to not allow these sentiments to deflect Egypt from its decades of commitment to the Palestinian cause and from its efforts to actualize the rights of the Palestinian people. Headlines such as "Palestine is not just Gaza" and "Gaza is not all Hamas" have appeared numerous times on op-eds in the Egyptian pro-regime press since the start of the conflict.[3]

'Imad Al-Din Adib summed up the Egyptian dilemma on this matter as follows: "How can [Egypt] support the [Palestinian] 'people' without paying Hamas back what it deserves for its insane and hostile policy vis-à-vis the Egyptian regime and people?"[4]

In this context, Egyptian Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry said, at a breaking of the Ramadan fast with Egyptian journalists: "The Egyptian people are very sympathetic towards the Palestinian people, but they may be outraged at the Hamas leaders' involvement with the MB, because of the ideological connection [between them]. But our brothers in Gaza are besieged and face extermination, and Egypt will never hesitate to support them. The Palestinian people realize that the Egyptian people loves and supports it. Egypt is capable of dealing with Hamas as it [also] preserves both its own rights and the rights of its people." He added: "Whoever opposed Egypt's initiative bears responsibility for the current situation."[5]

The MB and their supporters, on the other hand, have expressed complete solidarity with Hamas, and have criticized the conduct of what they call the "coup regime" in the current crisis, comparing it to that of the Mursi regime during the November-December 2012 Operation Pillar of Defense.

The MB presents President Al-Sisi as an Israeli agent, the Egyptian media as the "Zionist lobby," and Israel as the "real enemy" against which Hamas stands alone, as Al-Sisi and other Arab rulers combat their own people.

According to the MB, Egypt is no longer capable of mediating fairly between Israel and Hamas – and the "coup regime" is causing the erosion of Egypt's role as the leader of the Palestinian cause, and of the region in general.Read the full story here.

It has come to light that the ISIS terror organization and its supporters planned details of the attack on Mosul in a hotel in Istanbul under the protection of the Turkish Intelligence Organization between the 28 February and 2 March. The militants reportedly met in Jordan’s capital Amman on the 1 June and invaded Mosul a week later.

One of the most striking allegations made over the meeting is that the first draft of the invasion was planned with the knowledge of Turkey, Jordan and Saudi Arabia. The Turkish Intelligence Organization MİT in the meantime, provided ammunition, location support and transportation all over the region.

The secret meeting was revealed by Syrian Turkmens who were also present at the same hotel in Istanbul for a meeting by the Syrian Turkmen Democratic Movement held on the very same day.

The leaders of Sunni radical organizations reportedly attended the meeting including a senior of the Jordanian Intelligence Organization, the local organizations of the old Ba’ath Party and other representatives of Sunni movements.

The main issue of the meeting was allegedly the weakening of the government of Iraqi Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki by building a Sunni front against Shias through the ISIS terror group.

According to the claims, the al-Maliki government was aware of such meetings under the leadership of Turkey, Saudi Arabia and Jordan and got in touch with some authorities regarding the issue.

In the meeting which followed in Amman on 1 June, Libyan and North African authorities also participated together with Sunni representatives. Only a week later, ISIS invaded Mosul in an operation which lasted a couple of hours. Hmmmm......No wonder they told the consulate staff to stay put!

Turkey’s Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan says Ankara would push for Israel to be tried at an international criminal court if it continues its deadly aggression against the Gaza Strip.

Several journalists from around the world reported seeing rockets fired from civilian areas in Gaza in recent days, and received threatening tweets in return accusing them of “informing” the IDF.

On Wednesday, Peter Stefanovic of Australia’s Channel Nine News tweeted: “Hamas rockets just launched over our hotel from a site about two hundred metres away. So a missile launch site is basically next door.”

An account called @ThisIsGaza said this was Stefanovic’s fourth time “passing and fabricating information to Israel... from GAZA” and threatened to sue him.

Another account, @longitude0 wrote: “You are a cretin. Are you working for the IDF” and “in WWII spies got shot.”

Financial Times Jerusalem Bureau Chief John Reed reported seeing “two rockets fired toward Israel from near al-Shifa hospital, even as more bombing victims were brought in.”

Shifa, in Gaza City, is the main medical facility in the Strip.

An association of Jewish Americans said Turkish Prime Minister Tayyip Erdogan has become the world’s “most virulent anti-Israeli leader” and demanded he return an award it gave him a decade ago, partly for his efforts to broker peace between Israel and Palestinians.

The New York-based American Jewish Congress awarded Erdogan its “Profile of Courage” award in 2004 for what it said was his stance on fighting terrorism and working towards a peace.

“Now, we want it back,” the association’s president, Jack Rosen, said in an open letter to Erdogan dated July 23 and made public on Thursday. He cited the Turkish leader’s comments last weekend that Israel had “surpassed Hitler in barbarism” through its attacks on Gaza.

“A decade after we gave you our award, you have become arguably the most virulent anti-Israel leader in the world - spewing dangerous rhetoric for political gain and inciting the Turkish population to violence against the Jewish people.”

Israel said last week it was reducing its diplomatic presence in Turkey after protesters pelted its consulate in Istanbul with stones and draped Palestinian flags on the ambassador’s residence in Ankara.

The U.S. State Department called Erdogan’s earlier remarks, in which he likened an Israeli MP to Hitler and said the Jewish state was terrorizing the region, “offensive and wrong”.

Turkey, a member of the U.S.-led NATO military alliance, was once Israel’s closest regional ally.

Washington considered it a credible broker in the Middle East peace process.

Rosen said Erdogan had forfeited Turkey’s seat “at the table of legitimate mediators” and that all parties would have been better off had he remained a “proponent of peace”.Read the full story here.

Hamas and the other terrorist organizations have frequently made use of hospitals and other medical facilities for various military purposes. That is because they know the IDF does not attack medical facilities, and using a medical facility provides their terrorist operatives located there with a kind of immunity. For the same reason they use ambulances to move terrorist operatives and weapons from place to place in combat zones. They repeat the modus operandi in Operation Protective Edge. Israeli troops in southern Gaza arrested 150 Palestinians, dozens of whom surrendered voluntarily to the soldiers.

About 70 of the arrested Gazan Palestinians, who are suspected of carrying out terrorist attacks, were transferred for interrogation, The Times of Israel reported, citing an IDF spokeswoman.

Dozens of the Palestinians, most believed to be members of Hamas, surrendered to the soldiers during raids on Rafah and Khan Yunis, according to the Times of Israel. All of the detainees were later released.

The IDF said in a statement issued on Thursday that several prominent field commanders of the Palestinian Islamic Jihad were targeted in recent days by both the IDF and the Shin Bet security service in a combined effort.

“All terrorists targeted were involved in many attacks against IDF soldiers in Gaza and in the firing of rockets at Israeli communities. They’ve also been central figures during Operation Protective Edge,” the IDF said in its statement.

The commanders were identified as: 

Acram Salah Mahmmar Sh’ar, in charge of Palestinian Islamic Jihad ‘s militant activity in the area of Khan Yunis including executing attacks against IDF forces on the Gaza border and of rockets fired from the area; 

 Mahmoud Awwad Ali Ziada , head of PIJ activity in the northern Gaza Strip; 

Shaben Haled Sha’aben Dahduh, head of PIJ activity in Gaza City region; 

and Sa’yeed Mahamed Nasser Au Mamer, head of PIJ activity in Rafah.

The Palestinian Maan news agency reported that 37 Palestinians were killed across Gaza on Thursday morning, bringing the Palestinian death toll on the 17th day of Israel’s operation to 734, with more than 4,000 injured.

The United Nations secretary-general said on Wednesday that he was “alarmed” to hear that rockets that were hidden at a U.N.-run school in Gaza were missing. 

Ban Ki-moon said he was filled with “outrage and regret” that rockets had been stored at facilities overseen by United Nations Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA) in Gaza.

His spokesperson said in email Wednesday that when these rockets were discovered “in accordance with standard practice, UNRWA handed them over to the local authorities,” but “since then, they have gone missing.”

The U.N. said at least twice during the recent course of violence between Israelis and Palestinian, rockets were discovered stockpiled in U.N. operated facilities. Since Hamas controls Gaza, Canada’s Foreign Affairs minister John Baird expressed concern that the rockets could fall into the group’s hands.

He said in a statement he was dismayed that “officials with the United Nations returned these weapons to Hamas, a listed terrorist organization, once Israeli officials discovered their location.”Read the full story here.
