By the way nice zabiba burn.

Annual Brussels Muslim Fair in Brussels Draws as usual 'Global Muslim Brotherhood'. HT: globalMBwatch.

Turkish media is reporting that this year’s annual Muslim Fair in Brussels has attracted thousands of visitors. According to the report:

A fair organized by Muslims in Belgian capital Brussels has attracted thousands of visitors at its stands mainly theming clothes, accessories, halal food and natural cosmetics as well as Rabia movement (a civil movement protesting against the military coup in Egypt) and resistance against Syria’s brutal regime. Organizers think the fair will reach a total visitors number of 25 thousand by the end of tomorrow, the final day of the fair.

The Muslim Fair aiming the struggle against Islamaphobia and intercultural dialogue is being held at Brussels’s historic Tour & Taxi Cultural Centre.

The fair is also an opportunity for the visitors to meet and listen to speeches from intellectuals and scholars from Europe and the Arab world including Saudi Arabia, Morocco and Sudan on several topics like reform in Islam, refugee crisis in Europe, message of the Quran.

The 4-day fair was organised by the League of Muslims in Belgium in collaboration with Gedis Company which is based in Paris.

Islamic Relief, a humanitarian organization, has established a refugee tent to draw attention to the living conditions of Syrian refugees at camps. A Palestinian humanitarian organization has opened a stand to receive donations for Palestinians in need. They are running a campaign for Gazan children with the motto "Do you want to change the life of a Gazan child?" The organization also carries out campaigns for Palestinians living in Syria, Jordan and Lebanon.

The program for this year’s Fair indicates that numerous Muslim Brotherhood figures were scheduled to speak including:

Also scheduled to speak were two Salafi figures-  Abdullah al Mosleh,  Chairman of the International Commission on Scientific Signs in Qur’an & Sunnah in Makkah and Omar Abdelkafy, an Egyptian cleric who recently made controversial remarks about the 911 attacks. How Turkish is that 'Turkish Stream'?

Some Kurd told me the Kurdish word for Donkey is 'Kerdogan'

How Turkish is that 'Turkish Stream'? (Taz).

The political interests of the countries don’t always coincide with their energy interests, and Russia is a clear example of that.

Russia gives importance to the implementation of the ‘Turkish Stream’ gas pipeline project, but at the same time, Moscow doesn’t take into account Ankara’s political and energy interests.

Since the day when Russia announced its intention to realize the ‘Turkish Stream’ as an alternative to Azerbaijan’s TANAP, there has been no doubt that the Russian project isn’t able to compete with that of Azerbaijan.

To understand the difference between TANAP and ‘Turkish Stream’, it is necessary to know all the pros and cons of these two projects.

In contrast to the ‘Turkish Stream’, TANAP has no questionable issues. TANAP’s route has been clearly defined, while Russia and Turkey have not yet agreed on a final route for the ‘Turkish Stream”.

Second, the real actions have been already taken for the Trans-Anatolian gas pipeline construction. In particular, the TANAP foundation was laid in the Turkish province of Kars on March 17.

Moreover, the EU appreciates the TANAP project implementation.

There is also a shareholder agreement signed between BP and TANAP consortium. According to this agreement, the British company will become part of the Trans-Anatolian gas pipeline shareholders.

Turkish Stream still could not attract significant attention.

TANAP will not only ensure Europe’s energy security, but also promote the development of the regions where this pipeline will run. By the way, Turkish officials have repeatedly emphasized this.

However, in the case of implementation of the Turkish Stream project, which in fact is not an energy project, but a political one, Turkey will benefit only from gas transportation.

In one word, Ankara will not be able to control the gas that will be transported through its territory.
So, there is no doubt that Ankara will not renounce its own interests in favor of Russia, all the more so, in the project that is not Turkish at all. Hmmm..........Notice the importance they give to 'controlling the gas flow'? Europe is an idiot to think 'Islamist turkey' as gas provider will be better then Putin's Russia.

Isis leader Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi 'seriously wounded in air strike' in March.

Isis leader Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi 'seriously wounded in air strike' in March. (Guardian).

The leader of Islamic State, Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi, has been seriously wounded in an air strike in western Iraq, sources have told the Guardian.

A source in Iraq with connections to the terror group revealed that Baghdadi suffered serious injuries during an attack by the US-led coalition in March. The source said Baghdadi’s wounds were at first life-threatening, but he has since made a slow recovery. He has not, however, resumed day-to-day control of the organisation.

Baghdadi’s wounding led to urgent meetings of Isis leaders, who initially believed he would die and made plans to name a new leader.

Two separate officials – a western diplomat and an Iraqi adviser – separately confirmed that the strike took place on 18 March in the al-Baaj a district of Nineveh, close to the Syrian border.

While Baghdadi invokes authority as a religious leader, the constant threat from the skies has led to some of its command and strategic decisions being made by other member of the leadership. Since Baghdadi’s wounding, Isis’s military and Shura councils have become increasingly prominent in decision-making, the source close to the organisation revealed.Read the full story here.

Video - Alleged Syrian spy from Canadian intelligence assisting British girls to join ISIS

Video - Alleged Syrian spy from Canadian intelligence assisting British girls to join ISIS. (DS).

A video has been released by Turkish A Haber news channel showing the suspected Syrian spy working for the Canadian intelligence agency helping British girls join ISIS.

The video footage filmed by the suspect himself shows the girls' detailed journey from Turkey into Syria. The three girls first arrive at Istanbul Ataturk Airport, then head to the southern city of Gaziantep near the Syrian border. In Gaziantep, they take a cab to the location which they had been earlier informed about and are greeted by the suspect. Read the full story here.

Oooops - Turkey now says spy suspected of helping British school girls is Syrian. (Bugun).

An alleged spy detained in Turkey for helping three British girls cross into Syria is a Syrian national working for a country in the U.S.-led coalition against Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL), the Turkish foreign minister said on Friday.

Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu announced on Thursday that a spy who had assisted the three Londonschool girls, now believed to be on territory controlled by ISIL, had been caught, but did not give the suspect's nationality.

ISIL seized swathes of land last June and is drawing sympathizers from many countries to support their fight. The U.S.-led coalition is using mostly air power in an attempt to push the Sunni militant group back.

"The person who helped the three British girls into Syria is a Syrian national working for another country within the coalition. The situation is so complicated," Çavuşoğlu told reporters in Ankara.

He did not say which country the spy was working for, although on Thursday he had said it was not the European Union or the United States. The coalition also includes countries such as Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Jordan, Bahrain, Australia and Canada. Hmmmm...........Why Did A Turkish Paper Target Canada for a Smear?

Washington-based think tank calls on US to try new policy with ‘more isolated’ Turkey.

Washington-based think tank calls on US to try new policy with ‘more isolated’ Turkey. (FoT).

A new report by a Washington-based think tank has urged the United States to try a new policy with its key NATO ally Turkey, warning that Ankara is more isolated and is sliding into a more authoritarian style of rule under the incumbent president.

The report, authored by Max Hoffman and Michael Herz and published by the Center for American Progress on Thursday, claims US investment in Turkish President Recep Tayyip ErdoÄŸan and the ruling Justice and Development Party (AK Party) has not worked, and that the US should try a new approach, for what it referred to as “compelling reasons.”

US President Obama stated in 2009 that the US had a “large political investment in Turkey.” Through this investment, the report explained, Obama sought to strengthen the three pillars of the US-Turkey partnership: Turkey’s status as a “strong, vibrant, secular democracy,” Turkey’s important role in NATO and its membership bid with the European Union, and Turkey’s potential as a role model for the Middle East. The report claimed that American investment has not been “reciprocated,” adding that ErdoÄŸan and the ruling party have handled domestic and regional developments in a way that has raised doubts about each of these pillars.

Few observers would count Turkey as a vibrant democracy. Turkey’s bid for EU membership has stalled, and its role as a reliable NATO ally has been questioned. Moreover, the country’s appeal as a model for the region has eroded significantly, and its ability to influence regional dynamics has decreased as Syria and Iraq have spun out of control,” the report noted.

The end result, the authors wrote, is that Turkey has distanced itself from the West and from Western values.

The report, titled “One Step Forward, Three Steps Back,” said that the Turkish government seems determined to crack down on dissent, strike deals with Russia and China that undermine NATO positions and that it routinely bargains with the US over “what should be basic transactions between allies” in the fight against ISIL.

It is time, the report stressed, for the US to try a new policy and to bring its considerable leverage to bear. It highlighted Turkey’s current “isolation” due in part to the AK Party’s authoritarian and anti-Western shift, and said Turkey is less able today to shape regional policy than at any time since the end of the Cold War.

Usually Ankara would rather dismiss than accept offers of cooperation from the US and the EU, the report said, adding that the two nations’ divergence has become “impossible to ignore.” The authors said close cooperation with the US has helped bolster ErdoÄŸan in his roles as prime minister and president, but that the US has not gotten much in return.

The report noted that ErdoÄŸan, who has jettisoned his earlier efforts at reform and broader political inclusion to focus on divisive identity politics and a 50-percent-plus-one approach to consolidate control, keeps bringing up the idea that Turkey is once again threatened by enemies from outside and within. “But beyond their dubious historical legitimacy, such ideological delusions are causing significant damage to Turkey’s foreign policy interests and its relations with the United States,” the report warned. Hmmm.....Finally someone woke up in the US, but it won't matter with Obama  protecting Erdo. Read the full story here.

Hamas terrorist group leader Meshaal, speaker of Iranian parliament meet in MB 'Den' Qatar. (MM).

The head of the Hamas Political Bureau, Khaled Meshaal yesterday met Iranian Shura Council Speaker, Ali Larijani in Doha, Qatar.

Hamas said in a statement received by Resala news site that "during the meeting, the two officials exchanged views on developments in the Palestinian cause in the light of Israeli threats to Al-Aqsa Mosque and Jerusalem as well as the ongoing blockade of the Gaza Strip."

Relations between Iran and Hamas have recently witnessed slight improvement, especially after a Hamas delegation visited Tehran and held several meetings with senior leaders there.

Unconfirmed reports suggested Meshaal is planning to visit Tehran. Hmmm.....Perhaps the Emir of Qatar can ask his Buddy Erdo to take Meshaal on his flight to tehran?

Kerry, aides checked by security at Egyptian presidential palace.

Kerry, aides checked by security at Egyptian presidential palace. (Taz).
Egyptian security officers checked U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry and his top aides with a metal detector as they arrived for a meeting on Tuesday with President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi, an unusual screening for a senior State Department official.
Foreign officials usually extend every courtesy to Washington's top diplomat, Reuters reported.

Footage taken at the Egyptian presidential palace and seen by Reuters showed an official briefly raising a handheld metal-detecting wand to the lower part of Kerry's jacket before waving him through for the meeting, which is to discuss how to stop the two-week conflict between Hamas and Israel in the Gaza Strip.

More than 500 people, the vast majority Palestinians, have died in the fighting.

Kerry appeared for only a few seconds in the footage, which showed his senior aides walking through a stationary metal detector and being checked with a handheld wand. At least one was asked to empty his pockets.

The aides included Kerry's deputy chief of staff Jonathan Finer, senior adviser David Thorne and spokeswoman Jen Psaki. Hmmm......Sisi really trusts his US 'Allies'

Israel’s UN Ambassador Says There Are More Hamas Missiles at UNRWA Facilities.

Israel’s UN Ambassador Says There Are More Hamas Missiles at UNRWA Facilities.(Algemeiner).

A day after UNRWA, the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East, admitted that it had discovered 20 Hamas rockets at one of its schools, Israel’s UN Ambassador said he was certain that more such facilities housed Hamas weaponry.

“Yesterday, UNRWA admitted that it mysteriously found 20 missiles in one of its schools,” Ambassador Ron Prosor said on Friday in an emergency Security Council session on Gaza. “I’m sure that if UNRWA takes the time to check its other facilities, it will discover that this is just the tip of the iceberg.  Hamas is using UN facilities to commit a double war crime by targeting Israeli civilians while hiding behind Palestinian civilians.”

His comments came the morning after Israeli forces entered Gaza in an expansion of Israel’s Operation Protective Edge aimed at ending rocket fire against civilians.

In his extensive remarks, outlining Israel’s position on the conflict with Hamas, Prosor also said that it was time for the international community to face the consequences of its failed policies regarding the Gaza based terror group.

For years, we told you about the thousands of rockets that Hamas was smuggling into Gaza. We were met with silence.  Time and again we called on the international community to condemn the rocket fire and we were met with silence,” he said.

It is time for the international community to face the consequences of its inaction. Hamas used its foothold in Gaza to trample on the Palestinian people and build a terror base in Israel’s backyard.  And now it sees an opportunity to do it again.”

After announcing the discovery of the rockets on Thursday,  UNRWA said in a statement that it “strongly condemns the group or groups responsible for placing the weapons in one of its installations. This is a flagrant violation of the inviolability of its premises under international law. This incident, which is the first of its kind in Gaza, endangered civilians including staff and put at risk UNRWA’s vital mission to assist and protect Palestine refugees in Gaza.”

The discovery of rockets was the second strike against the agency in as many days, after Prosor on Wednesday called for the immediate suspension of UNRWA spokesman Chris Gunness for encouraging international journalists to interview a professor who justifies terrorism against civilians to bolster Hamas.

Rather than denouncing Hamas’s targeting of innocent civilians, Mr. Gunness is shamelessly promoting an individual who shares Hamas’s morally reprehensible convictions,” Prosor said in a letter to Pierre Krähenbühl, UNRWA’s Commissioner-General.

Hamas, an internationally recognized terrorist organization, deliberately embeds its military operations in residential areas and exploits its own civilian population as human shields. These actions constitute war crimes and should be condemned in no uncertain terms.

In failing to do so, Mr. Gunness is ignoring Hamas’s abuse of the civilian population in Gaza and acting in opposition to UNRWA’s mandate.”

UNRWA handed rockets back to terrorist org Hamas, Israel says.

UNRWA handed rockets back to terrorist org Hamas, Israel says. (TOI).

A United Nations agency that last week found rockets in a Gaza school operating under its auspices has handed that weaponry over to Hamas, Israeli officials said Sunday, accusing the organization of actively helping the terrorist organization help attack Israeli civilians.

The rockets were passed on to the government authorities in Gaza, which is Hamas. In other words, UNRWA handed to Hamas rockets that could well be shot at Israel,” a senior Israeli official told The Times of Israel.

A spokesperson for UNRWA said the organization gave the rockets to “local authorities,” which answer to the Hamas-backed unity government led by Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas.

UNRWA pledged to fully investigate the incident once the fighting stops and keep all relevant parties informed, but refused to release any photos of the weapons.

According to longstanding UN practice in UN humanitarian operations worldwide, incidents involving unexploded ordnance that could endanger beneficiaries and staff are referred to the local authorities,” UNRWA’s director of advocacy and strategic communications, Christopher Gunness, told The Times of Israel Sunday.

A Western diplomat familiar with the incident said there is “absolutely no evidence” that UNRWA handed the rockets to Hamas. Rather, the diplomat suggested, the authorities who collected the rockets are under the direct authority of the Palestinian unity government, “which Hamas has left and which many in Hamas are openly hostile to. The key point is that the weapons were handed over to people who are not answerable to Hamas,” the diplomat said, referring to the fact that the unity government, not Hamas, is officially the ruling power in Gaza.Hmmm......what a load of...

The Top Eight Gaza Media Myths.

The Top Eight Gaza Media Myths. HT: Camera.

Myth: Hamas has no choice but to place weapons and fighters in populated areas since the Gaza Strip is so crowded that is all there is.
[Hamas has] no other choice. Gaza is the size of Detroit. And 1.5 million live here where there are no places for them to fire from them but from among the population. (Taghreed El-Khodary, New York Times Gaza reporter, on CNN, Jan. 1, 2009)
Fact: There is actually plenty of open space in Gaza, including the now empty sites where Israeli settlements once stood. The Hamas claim, parroted by the Times reporter, is nonsense.
Beyond this, placing your own civilians around or near a military target to act as "human shields" is prohibited by the Fourth Geneva Convention:
Art. 28. The presence of a protected person may not be used to render certain points or areas immune from military operations.
Article 58 of Protocol 1 Additional to the Geneva Conventions of 1977 (which the Palestinian Authority has accepted) goes even further in this regard, requiring that Hamas remove Palestinian civilians from the vicinity of its military facilities, which would include any place where weapons, mortars, bombs and the like are produced, stored, or fired from, and any place where its fighters train, congregate or hide. Here is the text, which calls on the parties to the conflict to:
(a) ... endeavour to remove the civilian population, individual civilians and civilian objects under their control from the vicinity of military objectives;
(b) Avoid locating military objectives within or near densely populated areas;
(c) Take the other necessary precautions to protect the civilian population, individual civilians and civilian objects under their control against the dangers resulting from military operations.
Even UNRWA has weighed in on this, denouncing on July 17 the "group or groups" that had hidden missiles in a UN-run school in Gaza.
Hamas, as the defacto government in Gaza, is responsible for the missiles and other weapons hidden in civilian buildings and areas, and has clearly violated all three of the above provisions.

Video - 1st Day of IDF Ground Operation in Gaza.

After a 10-day aerial campaign aimed at halting Hamas rocket fire on Israeli cities, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu decided on Thursday to order a ground offensive in Gaza, as a second stage of Operation Protective Edge launched July 8.

“My and the defense minister’s instruction to the IDF, after the approval of the cabinet, is to prepare for a significant expansion of the ground operation,” Netanyahu said Friday morning.

Netanyahu said that air strikes alone could not deal a sufficient blow to the tunnels riddling Gaza, so a ground assault was needed.

“Last night, our forces began a ground operation to hit the terror tunnels crossing from Gaza into Israel’s territory,” he told a special cabinet session, broadcast live on television.
“It is not possible to deal with the tunnels only from the air.”Read the full story here.
