The Israel Embassy in London has condemned an event at the House of Lords at which audience members compared Israel to Daesh terrorists and suggested Jews were to blame for the Holocaust.

One man said Zionism was a “perversion of Judaism”, and then implied an American rabbi had provoked Hitler into murdering six million Jews in the Shoah, using quotes reportedly taken from a neo-Nazi website.

Another speaker is shown announcing, to applause: "If anybody is antisemitic, it's the Israelis themselves."

The session was run by the Palestinian Return Centre (PRC) and hosted by Baroness Tonge, the Liberal Democrat member and former MP who now sits as an independent peer.

It launched what the organisation calls the Balfour Apology Campaign, ahead of the centenary of the Balfour Declaration next year.

Video footage of the event shows Baroness Tonge listening to the audience member’s comments about Rabbi Stephen Wise, a leading figure in the United States in the 1930s.

The man – reportedly a member of the anti-Zionist strictly Orthodox Neturei Karta sect – claims Hitler was “pushed over the edge” by the rabbi’s comments, and goes on to talk about boycotts.

Baroness Tonge responds: “Thank you very much. I think it’s very important that the word boycott has come up. The BDS, the campaign to boycott Israeli goods and services, and divestment from Israel, most of us think is very, very important indeed.”

David Collier, a blogger who attended the session, said he was later physically sick.

A recently discovered cache of hundreds of personal letters, diaries and photos belonging to the Nazi Gestapo chief seems to reveal a thoughtful, loving husband and devoted father to his daughter. The documents first found in the Himmler family house in 1945 were hidden in Tel Aviv for decades and sold to the father of the Israeli documentary filmmaker, Vanessa Lapa. Through readings of Himmler's and his family's most personal writings and rarely seen restored film footage from key German archives, Lapa has fashioned a fascinating case study: a portrait of the man responsible for some of the worst atrocities of the Second World War, who thought of himself in heroic terms.

'Decent One' Shows How Ordinary Men Could Become Monsters.

Hannah Arendt’s embattled phrase, “banality of evil,” describing Nazi master murderer Adolf Eichmann, may go a long way to illuminate his colleague in Hitler-era genocide, Heinrich Himmler.

The documentary “The Decent One,” based on a cache of memorabilia including letters, diaries, and photos belonging to this proud Nazi, somehow private since the war, shows him foremost a Catholic family man with a job to do.

Read straightforward in voiceover over black and white archival footage, Himmler’s words, written to parents, wife Marga, and mistress Hedwig, take us into his mindset without judgment or irony.

Filmmaker Vanessa Lapa’s deft juxtaposition of pictures some familiar, as in heaped up bones, with his romantic musings on how these times will be deemed, (“As to what is said about us: These German soldiers — they were decent,”), with Jonathan Sheffer’s evocative score in background, effect a retelling of this history in riveting detail.

The idealistic Himmler rose through the Nazi ranks and further rose to the occasion of mass murder proclaiming it only right, and a duty: “A master race must be able to eliminate those who are inferior.” His early anti-Semitism, from pre-war letters, is, like the old joke, only slightly more than is appropriate, as when he depicts an attractive dancer he met in a café: “There was nothing Jewish in her behavior. She deserved respect.” 

He is not keen on homosexuals either, but “the Jews are our misfortune.” Fast forward to the building of concentration camps, a creative solution. He may have experienced a pang of conscience about sending a stolen fur and gold bracelet back home to family, Jewish wealth that should have gone to the Reich. The term “decent” (entshtendlich) — his, sprinkled often in his words — becomes a refrain of self-proclaimed honor.

In Germany’s defeat, Himmler took cyanide two days after capture by the British. Interviewed in 1945, Marga, pained only by her husband’s infidelity, claims he never talked about the camps. Weren’t you interested? Shouldn’t you have asked? Asks an off-screen interrogator.

His daughter Gudrun carried on the important work, assisting Nazi war criminals through the “Silent Aid” organization. Villains rarely think they are bad. In Gudrun’s case, being politically incorrect may just be a way to stay a daddy’s girl, connected to the man and Fatherland she idolized. Himmler’s papers’ remarkable postwar journey could make another movie. This one is a bracing reminder of how monsters are made of ordinary men.

“The Decent One” opens October 1 at Film Forum in NYC.

Historic Holocaust Film 'Night Will Fall' Debuts at Last — Had Help From Hitchcock. (Forward).

A new film about a forgotten, long-shelved documentary chronicling the Allies’ discovery and liberation of the Nazi concentration camps is offering viewers a restored contemporaneous account of that seminal moment in history.

The original, unfinished documentary has now, 70 years later, been reproduced and completed by the British Imperial War Museums. Titled “German Concentration Camps Factual Survey,” the film was finished based on the shot sheets, script and rushes of the original filmmakers, who were forced by geo-political considerations to stop their work. “Night Will Fall,” the new film about the film, combines raw archive footage from the 1945 documentary — which counted Alfred Hitchcock among its treatment advisers — and contemporary interviews with the now elderly veteran soldiers, former film cameramen, film editors, and Holocaust historians and survivors.

The original work began in the waning days of World War II. British producer Sidney Bernstein, chief of the film section at the Supreme Headquarters Allied Expeditionary Force, had instructed his cameramen to film everything in order to provide undeniable proof of Nazi atrocities.

What is apparent is how unprepared the soldiers were for the horrors that awaited them. For some, the experience has been a lifelong trauma. Many found it difficult to later articulate to the makers of “Night Will Fall” what they saw and what they remembered.

The story behind the initial, incomplete making of the original documentary includes its suppression by the British and American governments as they shifted away from exposing Nazi atrocities and toward restoring and reconstructing West Germany as a bulwark against the perceived new threat from the Soviet Union.

Director André Singer has referred to the making of “Night Will Fall” as an all-consuming journey, an exploration of the role of the moving image, both then and now.

Singer has termed it “an enormous privilege” to interview “the soldiers who first entered the camps, the cameramen who lifted their cameras and filmed, the editors who viewed the footage, and the victims who suffered there and who were recorded on film in the first, unbelievable moments when rescue finally came.”

“Night Will Fall” opened in British cinemas in September after premiering in the United States at the Telluride Film Festival in August. The film’s American producer, Marie Therese Guirgis, has said that it will be released here in 2015, but no date has been confirmed.

It was as the war was drawing to an end that Britain and the United States set up a joint film department. Its mandate was to produce short propaganda films to support the war effort, and later to assist in the task of dealing with a defeated Germany. Headed by Bernstein, the new unit recorded the atrocities that the soldiers — many of whom were newly trained as cameramen — encountered at the point of liberation.

In 1945, as the numerous reels arrived in London, and editors faced the momentous task of processing the material, Bernstein began to plan a full-length documentary. Speaking in 1984, he explained that his instructions had been to film everything, providing undeniable proof of what had happened. He wanted the film to serve as “a lesson to all mankind.”

For the material to be used as evidence in war crimes trials, the project required filming in a very specific way. According to historian Toby Haggith, one of the difficulties of filming the atrocities as evidence was the need to get close to victims. This contrasted with the tradition of previous combat cameramen, Haggith explained, who had shied away from representing or recording scenes of people who had been brutalized or killed.

As he saw the scope of the task grow, Bernstein decided to approach his friend Alfred Hitchcock for ideas. Credited as treatment adviser, the legendary director’s brief input was to be his only foray into documentary filmmaking.

It took 70 years, but as Bernstein’s last recorded note to his editor, Peter Tanner, predicted, “One day you will realize that it has been worthwhile.” Hmmm....sadly 'Never again' has been empty words and Jew hatred is seen flourishing all over the world again....fanned by Islamic extremism

France’s government has reacted strongly to a rising tide of anti-Semitic acts this year but French society seems indifferent to the threat they present, the country’s newly elected chief rabbi said on Tuesday.

Haim Korsia, who was elected in June, recalled the huge crowds that demonstrated in Paris in 1990 after a Jewish cemetery was desecrated in the southeastern town of Carpentras.

This summer, he told journalists, there was no similar reaction from civil society following attacks on synagogues and protests against Israel’s offensive in Gaza, during which some marchers shouted “death to Jews” and “Jews out”.

“There were a million people in the street then,” he said, referring to 1990. “In France (now), have you seen a march of support saying it’s inadmissible to attack houses of worship?

“What struck us was the sense of indifference in the society.”

Korsia, 50, contrasted that with events in Germany, where thousands rallied on Sunday to protest against increasing violence toward Jews, which he called “remarkable” especially because of the presence of Chancellor Angela Merkel.

The government in Berlin reported 131 anti-Semitic incidents in July and 53 in June - up from a total of 159 in the second quarter.

In France, violent anti-Semitic acts and threats almost doubled in the first half of this year from 2013, rising by 91 percent to 527, the Protection Service of the Jewish Community (SPCJ) reported last week.

During the Israeli offensive, some demonstrations turned violent and some protesters clashed with police outside two synagogues. A kosher grocery shop near Paris was firebombed.

France has both Europe’s largest Jewish minority of about 550,000 and largest Muslim minority of about 5 million. Violence in the Middle East often translates into tension in the suburbs of large cities where the two communities live side by side.

Korsia praised the government for taking a firm line against anti-Semitism, calling strong denunciations of the violence by President Francois Hollande, Prime Minister Manuel Valls and other officials a “perfect” response.

Interior Minister Bernard Cazeneuve has instructed police and prefects to deal firmly with racist and anti-Semitic acts.

Korsia rejected the idea that the violent protesters were only demonstrating against Israeli policy towards Palestinians, saying the conflict was a pretext to express their hatred toward Jews. “Peace there would not solve the problem - they would remain anti-Semitic,” he said.

The chief rabbi said the rising number of Jews leaving France for Israel this year reflected in part a delayed reaction to the 2012 killing of four Jews and three soldiers by an Islamist. Families need time to organize the move, he said.

Some 3,300 Jews quit France for Israel last year, a 73 percent increase on 2012, and officials estimate over 5,000 will leave this year. Many cite the stagnating economy as well as rising anti-Semitism as a factor in their decision. Hmmm.....After the Vichy regime , now the 'Gaza' regime.

Dieudonne coined the phrase “shoananas” — a mashup of the Hebrew world for the genocide and the French word for pineapple.

It is time Israel fought back against those who boycott the Jewish state, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said Monday, dubbing them "anti-Semites."

The comments come as concerns grow in Israel over a Palestinian-led movement of boycott, divestment and sanctions —knows by its acronym, BDS. The boycott has been growing recently, mainly in Europe, where some businesses and pension funds have cut investments or trade with Israeli firms they say are connected to West Bank settlements.

Speaking to a group of visiting Jewish-American leaders, Netanyahu said it is time for Israel to "delegitimize the delegitimizers."

"In the past anti-Semites boycotted Jewish businesses and today they call for the boycott of the Jewish state, and by the way, only the Jewish state," Netanyahu said. "I think that it is important that the boycotters be exposed for what they are, they are classical anti-Semites in modern garb," Netanyahu said.

Many Israelis say the boycott has strong anti-Semitic connotations and is meant to delegitimize the Jewish state as a whole and not merely a pressure tactic against its policies toward the Palestinians.

For many Israelis, the boycott conjures up dark images of the Nazi boycott prior and during WWII when Jewish academics were kicked out of universities and Jewish businesses were vandalized and boycotted.Hmmmmm.....l'histoire se répète.

A high school student grabbed a Jewish female classmate, held a lighter to her hair and said out loud, “let’s burn the Jew,”  but a Canadian judge concluded that the incident was “not racially motivated.”

The incident between two 15 year old Winnipeg, Canada high school students took place in 2010.

The lawyer for the defendant claimed, essentially, it was the girl’s fault her hair caught on fire.

He said his client grabbed the girl, lit the lighter and made the comments, but her hair caught fire when she pulled away. 

He also said that referring to the girl as “the Jew” was simply the way people interacted at the school, and the defendant was not the only one who called her that. He referred to his client as “a jerk and a bully,” but said the incident was “impulsive and unplanned.”

The defendant’s therapist claimed the incident was an “impulsive teenage action.”

Winnipeg’s Provincial Court Judge Robert Finlayson, before whom the trial was held, agreed with the defense. While he called the act “totally vulgar and inappropriate,” Finlayson said he was satisfied it was not racially motivated.

Given the judge was unwilling to classify saying “let’s burn the Jew” and then actually grabbing a Jew and burning her hair as anti-Semitic, perhaps he should be praised for also stating that the school culture in which this kind of incident was commonplace was “unhealthy and dark and there’s no place for it in society.”

The victim claimed the incident “changed her world upside down.” She needed therapy to deal with her fears.  She also believes that the people in the school blamed her for making a big deal of the incident.Read the full story here.

The Dutch newspaper De Volkskrant published on April 20, 2013 a controversial political cartoon by the Dutchman Jos Collignon (1950), who since 1980 has been three times a week a regular cartoonist for the newspaper. Israel and North Korea are unfairly compared with each other about nuclear weapons.

But that’s not even the most disturbing design of this cartoon. The way in which Jos Collignon depicts Israel is reminiscent of the period of Nazi Germany when Julius Streicher made similar cartoons in the antisemitic publication of Der Sturmer, a favorite magazine ​​of the European anti-Semites.

For Collignon, like Streicher, the Israeli is a Hasidic Jew, a secret sneak, presented with crooked nose, long beard in typical 19th century dress with black hat and long black clothes. EU foreign ministers, among them Britain's William Hague and Laurent Fabius of France, have said they will back EU efforts to label products from Israeli communities in Judea, Samaria and eastern Jerusalem, according to a letter obtained by AFP on Friday.

"We warmly welcome your commitment to work with fellow commissioners to prepare EU-wide guidelines on the labelling of settlement produce," said the letter by 13 ministers, addressed to EU foreign policy chief Catherine Ashton and dated April 12.

"This is an important step to ensure correct and coherent application of EU consumer protection and labelling legislation, which is in fulfillment of our previous commitments and is fully consistent with long-standing EU policy in relation to Israeli settlements in the Occupied Palestinian Territories," the letter said, according to AFP.

"We stand ready to assist you in taking forward this important work," added the signatories, which also included the chief diplomats of Austria, Belgium, Denmark, Spain, Finland, Luxembourg, Malta, the Netherlands, Portugal, Ireland and Slovenia.

Britain and Denmark have been at the forefront of calls for clear and unambiguous labelling of products from Judea, Samaria, and eastern Jerusalem, noted AFP.

Israeli foreign ministry spokesman Yigal Palmor said on Friday that, by concentrating on Israel, the campaign was unfair.

"This whole labelling initiative is fundamentally discriminatory as it singles out one country and one area for labelling," he told AFP. "Surely the EU feels strongly about quite a wide number of areas in controversy around the world and indeed in Europe itself."

The Palestinian news agency Ma'an continues to include Antisemitic content on its website. Currently the op-ed section features an article presenting the old Antisemitic forgery The Protocols of the Elders of Zion as a true document delineating the Jews' plan to subjugate the world.

Opinion piece by Walid Shomaly:

"The Protocols of the Elders of Zion are a kind of plan formulated by the Jews to infiltrate the world and take it over. While many Jewish leaders claim that they (the Protocols) are a forgery and one of the greatest political fabrications of the modern era, others confirm that they are true and that they are the most dangerous plot of global domination that history has ever known."

Having described the content of some of the protocols, the writer demonizes all Jews:

"Now, after this quick review of a few of these protocols, one wonders if the Jews belong to some other kind of human species, different from other nations. From where does all this evil and destructive energy derive? Do all the other nations deserve all this evil and hostility, just so that Jews may control them? Do all nations other than Jews really have clouded minds?"

And he wonders about the extent of Jewish world domination already today:

"Have most of the things that appear in the Protocols been implemented in the West and in the East? Did the idea of a Jewish world government begin to be carried out towards the end of the last century? And does the US rule the world today in the name of the new world order for the benefit of the Jews, in accordance with these Protocols? Are we on the brink of the establishment of an evident Jewish world government? Until we have answers to these questions and ponderings - as well as others - we say, 'May Allah help us, we the children of Palestine...'"

When describing how one of the protocols "calls to crush religious authority, especially the papacy," Shomaly condemns Christian Zionists in the US as "Zionists in the guise of Christians":

"We see how approximately eighty million Zionist Christians in the United States itself give Israel their absolute support, claiming [to belong to] Christianity while they in fact have no connection with it, for these people are Zionists in the guise of Christians. Thus they can achieve two goals: The first, to smash Christian values and perceptions from within; and the second, to support Zionism by legitimizing its occupation and settling of Palestine."

According to the writer, the Protocols include among other things the following:

"The first protocol calls for the spread of anarchy and wars... [and] contains plans to spread corruption in the world in order to establish firm Jewish rule... Jews are to entice men through liquor, debauchery, and women, and to use fraud, bribery, and betrayal to achieve their goals."

"The second protocol calls for a takeover of government, education, and the press. The fourth protocol calls for a takeover of trade and the destruction of religion."

"While the seventh protocol calls to instigate global wars, the ninth lays out plans to destroy moral values and dispatch agents."

"As far as education is concerned, the sixteenth protocol calls for corrupting it so as to reduce gentiles to creatures incapable of independent thought. Regarding religion, the seventeenth protocol calls to crush religious authority, especially the papacy."

Anti-Semitism Skyrocketing in France, 58 percent rise in the number of anti-Semitic incidents.(INN).Anti-Semitism is skyrocketing in France. Last year saw a 58 percent increase in the number of anti-Semitic incidents there according to a new report published Wednesday by the security unit of the Jewish communities of France.
The report, which called 2012 “a year of unprecedented violence against Jews in France,” noted 614 anti-Semitic incidents last year as compared to 389 such incidents in 2011.
Most of the attacks were verbal, the report said, but there was a significant number of physical assaults as well.
For example, just two weeks ago, a woman was arrested in Toulouse after trying to stab a student at the Ohr HaTorah Jewish day school. The school was the target of a terror attack last year which left four people dead, including a rabbi and three students. It was known at the time as the Otzar HaTorah day school, but has since changed its name.
A recent survey conducted by the World Zionist Organization (WZO) revealed that more than 40 percent of the population in France holds some kind of anti-Semitic belief. The most common was that which said Jews “have too much power in the business world.”
The survey also found that 47 percent of the French population believes “French Jews are more loyal to Israel than the country in which they live.”
Due at least in part to the “rising wave anti-Jewish hatred and violence in Europe, particularly in France,” WZO decided to hold its European Conference on Countering Anti-Semitism this year “near Paris.”

According to Germany's Der Spiegel, Morsi regularly meets with Badie and has shown that he expresses obedience to the supreme guide.
