H&M Under Fire, Ridicule for Selling Scarf Strangely Similar to a Tallis.
H&M Under Fire, Ridicule for Selling Scarf Strangely Similar to a Tallis.(Matzav).
Swedish international apparel chain H&M received mixed reviews on social media for offering a scarf for purchase that looks like a tallis.
The scarf, which sells on H&M’s website for $17.99 and was first highlighted by fashion blog Racked.com, has the same color scheme and pattern as a tallis. It even has “fringe at the short ends,” appearing strangely similar to tzitzis.
While some Twitter users marveled at the resemblance between the scarf and a tallis, others, the Algemeiner reports, were outraged, including one individual who wrote: “I’m not Jewish, but think it’s wrong to use an item of religious dress as a fashion statement.”
A different Twitter user said: “A lot of non Jews are going to be attacked for wearing it. Maybe they’ll understand what we go through.”
Another noted the irony of a Swedish retailer selling a scarf that resembles a tallis because “a Jew cannot walk in Sweden with a tallit (or a kippah) without risking himself.”
Others found the likeness humorous. One commented: “That is awesome. Is there a tekhelet option?” — referring to techeiles, the blue dye used for tzitzis, while another said, “lmaooo that great, I’ll finally be able to daven fashionably.” Hmmm..........It's not OK to make fun of Islam but it's OK to make fun of Judaism? No religion should be denigrated.

France - Jewish History teacher stabbed in Marseille street by trio praising Islamic State.
France - Jewish History teacher stabbed in Marseille street by trio praising Islamic State. (TOI).
A teacher at a Jewish school in the French city of Marseille was harassed in the street and then stabbed on Wednesday night by three people professing support for Islamic State, prosecutors said.
Three people on two scooters, one of them wearing an Isis T-shirt, approached the teacher and showed him a picture on a mobile phone of Mohamed Merah, a homegrown Islamist militant who killed seven people in a series of attacks in southern France in 2012.
Marseille prosecutor Brice Robin said: “The three people insulted, threatened and then stabbed their victim in the arm and leg. They were interrupted by the arrival of a car and fled.”
The 57-year-old victim, who was wearing a kippa, was attacked about 8pm outside his home, a short distance from the school and synagogue complex, a source close to the investigation said. Hmmm......Time for Israelis to leave France and EU[rabia]. Read the full story here.

Video: Polish Anti-Refugee Demonstrators Burn Effigies of Orthodox Jews at Wroclaw Protest. HT: Matzav.
Dozens of demonstrators in the western Polish city of Wroclaw participated in burning effigies of Jews fully equipped with peyos and black hats, Polish newspaper Gazeta Wyborcza reported on Wednesday.
The demonstration was part of a larger protest against admitting refugees of the civil war in Syria into Poland. Demonstrators warned that many of the refugees were actually economic migrants and terrorists, according to the report.
The demonstration took place on a portable stage in front of the Wroclaw city hall. Police contained the demonstration but allowed it to happen, with no formal complaints.
Many in Europe are concerned with the influx of refugees fleeing the violence in Syria, which has claimed hundreds of thousands of lives over the past nearly five years and caused widespread devastation.
Earlier this week, the Algemeiner reported on another anti-refugee banner hung on major thoroughfare in the city of Poznon.
Poland has officially decided to accept 5,000 refugees. Hmmmm.....As i warned extreme right will rise all over Europe.

EU[Rabia] to publish guidelines on the consumer labeling of settlement products.

EU[rabia] to publish guidelines on the consumer labeling of settlement products. (JPost).
The European Union is expected to publish in the next few weeks its long anticipated guidelines on the consumer labeling of Israeli products produced over the pre-1967 lines – in east Jerusalem, the West Bank and the Golan Heights.
The impending EU labeling of what it calls “settlement products” has been a contentious issue between Brussels and Jerusalem since 2012.
Monday night an Israeli diplomat said, “We expect the guidelines to be published soon, possibly within days.”
The official added, “We’re trying to convince the European Union and its member states that this is a mistake. It has an element of discrimination to it and does not in any way help the diplomatic process.”
Israel took issue with the publication of the guidelines at time when the Palestinian leadership refuses to hold direct talks with Israel and during a period in which, since October 1, Palestinian assailants have killed 11 Israelis and wounded more than 100 in a series of some 60 attacks.
“If anything, the publication of these guidelines now gives the Palestinians a prize for their terrorism and obstinacy. It also supports the overall atmosphere of Israeli boycotts,” the official said.
The guidelines, to be published out of Brussels under the guidance of the EU foreign policy chief Federica Mogherini, do not need to be put to a vote.
The document simply puts together already existing guidelines and legislation with regard to “settlement products.” It is designed to help EU member states understand what the law is with regard to the labeling of such products.
The EU considers Jewish communities over the pre- 1967 lines in east Jerusalem, the Golan Heights and the West Bank to be illegal under international law.
For over a decade, Israeli products produced over the pre-1967 lines have been exempt from Israel’s free trade agreement with the EU. Codes have been placed on the products to allow EU custom officials to properly determine if the products were produced within the Green Line or over it.
These guidelines would provide European consumers in stores with that same information. Hmmm.....At least now will know where to find Jewish products to buy.Read the full story here.

Historic Holocaust Film 'Night Will Fall' Debuts at Last — Had Help From Hitchcock.
Historic Holocaust Film 'Night Will Fall' Debuts at Last — Had Help From Hitchcock. (Forward).
A new film about a forgotten, long-shelved documentary chronicling the Allies’ discovery and liberation of the Nazi concentration camps is offering viewers a restored contemporaneous account of that seminal moment in history.
The original, unfinished documentary has now, 70 years later, been reproduced and completed by the British Imperial War Museums. Titled “German Concentration Camps Factual Survey,” the film was finished based on the shot sheets, script and rushes of the original filmmakers, who were forced by geo-political considerations to stop their work. “Night Will Fall,” the new film about the film, combines raw archive footage from the 1945 documentary — which counted Alfred Hitchcock among its treatment advisers — and contemporary interviews with the now elderly veteran soldiers, former film cameramen, film editors, and Holocaust historians and survivors.
The original work began in the waning days of World War II. British producer Sidney Bernstein, chief of the film section at the Supreme Headquarters Allied Expeditionary Force, had instructed his cameramen to film everything in order to provide undeniable proof of Nazi atrocities.
What is apparent is how unprepared the soldiers were for the horrors that awaited them. For some, the experience has been a lifelong trauma. Many found it difficult to later articulate to the makers of “Night Will Fall” what they saw and what they remembered.
The story behind the initial, incomplete making of the original documentary includes its suppression by the British and American governments as they shifted away from exposing Nazi atrocities and toward restoring and reconstructing West Germany as a bulwark against the perceived new threat from the Soviet Union.
Director André Singer has referred to the making of “Night Will Fall” as an all-consuming journey, an exploration of the role of the moving image, both then and now.
Singer has termed it “an enormous privilege” to interview “the soldiers who first entered the camps, the cameramen who lifted their cameras and filmed, the editors who viewed the footage, and the victims who suffered there and who were recorded on film in the first, unbelievable moments when rescue finally came.”
“Night Will Fall” opened in British cinemas in September after premiering in the United States at the Telluride Film Festival in August. The film’s American producer, Marie Therese Guirgis, has said that it will be released here in 2015, but no date has been confirmed.
It was as the war was drawing to an end that Britain and the United States set up a joint film department. Its mandate was to produce short propaganda films to support the war effort, and later to assist in the task of dealing with a defeated Germany. Headed by Bernstein, the new unit recorded the atrocities that the soldiers — many of whom were newly trained as cameramen — encountered at the point of liberation.
In 1945, as the numerous reels arrived in London, and editors faced the momentous task of processing the material, Bernstein began to plan a full-length documentary. Speaking in 1984, he explained that his instructions had been to film everything, providing undeniable proof of what had happened. He wanted the film to serve as “a lesson to all mankind.”
For the material to be used as evidence in war crimes trials, the project required filming in a very specific way. According to historian Toby Haggith, one of the difficulties of filming the atrocities as evidence was the need to get close to victims. This contrasted with the tradition of previous combat cameramen, Haggith explained, who had shied away from representing or recording scenes of people who had been brutalized or killed.
As he saw the scope of the task grow, Bernstein decided to approach his friend Alfred Hitchcock for ideas. Credited as treatment adviser, the legendary director’s brief input was to be his only foray into documentary filmmaking.
It took 70 years, but as Bernstein’s last recorded note to his editor, Peter Tanner, predicted, “One day you will realize that it has been worthwhile.” Hmmm....sadly 'Never again' has been empty words and Jew hatred is seen flourishing all over the world again....fanned by Islamic extremism

Polish Jews Split Over Exhuming Jewish Victims of Nazi era Polish Pogrom.

Polish Jews Split Over Exhuming Jewish Victims of Nazi era Polish Pogrom. HT: Forward.
In September 1941, a group of villagers wielding axes and other tools descended upon the homes of their Jewish neighbors and murdered every last one, according to testimonies gathered by Holocaust scholars. Not much else is known about the massacre in Wasosz, a village 100 miles east of Warsaw, including basics like the number of victims. Current estimates range widely, from 180 to 1,200.
In an effort to provide conclusive forensic evidence about the massacre, in July a Polish prosecutor asked Jewish community leaders for permission to exhume the bodies. The plan has split the community, with some passionately supporting what they see as a last chance for justice and others claiming it would violate the dignity of the dead and Jewish religious law, or halachah.
“Once the bodies are in the ground, halachah teaches us they are not to be disturbed except when it is done to protect the dignity of the dead or to save lives,” Polish Chief Rabbi Michael Schudrich told JTA. “I and other rabbis and the leadership of the Jewish community in Warsaw, among others, feel neither stipulation applies to Wasosz. A desire to clarify history is not enough.”
Piotr Kadlcik, president of the Union of Jewish Religious Communities in Poland, the country’s main Jewish umbrella group, called Schudrich’s position “a serious mistake, with detrimental implications.”
“We have tools to determine details about both victims and perpetrators in a matter which is still a criminal matter,” said Kadlcik, who is seeking an exhumation followed by Jewish burial of the human remains. “If we let this chance go, the case of Wasosz will become history – an unclear one and subject to falsification.”
In a move to undermine opponents to exhumation, Kadlcik has requested an opinion from Rabbi Yakov Ruza, a prominent authority in Israel on forensic medicine. Polish prosecutors have also reviewed the Israeli law that permits exhumation in cases involving a murder investigation, Kadlcik said.
Meanwhile, the Polish Institute of National Remembrance – the government body whose prosecutor, Radoslaw Ignatiew, initiated the investigation of Wasosz – is holding off on any exhumation until at least 2015 while the issue is discussed within the Jewish community.
The debate has ramifications well beyond an internal Jewish dispute over halachah and forensics. In the background are echoes of Jedwabne, an earlier investigation of another wartime mass murder of Jews by Poles.
The opening of that probe in 2001 was a watershed moment for Poland, according to Joanna Michlic, a historian at Bristol University, who wrote a 43-page paper chronicling how the debate split the Catholic Church, generated ultranationalist protests featuring anti-Semitic hate speech, led to the replacement of a memorial plaque that blamed the Germans for the murders and, finally, yielded the first admission by a Polish president of Polish guilt.
Before Jedwabne, Holocaust-era crimes by Poles were taboo because they undermined the communist narrative that all Poles were equal victims of Nazism. The subject remains divisive today because it undermines the current government’s focus on Polish wartime heroism and resistance to totalitarianism.
From a forensic perspective, the dig in Jedwabne was inconclusive. Though an excavation of the site revealed some human remains, it never progressed to include exhumation – as per understandings reached between Polish authorities and rabbis, including Schudrich.
Without exhumation, it was impossible to answer such basic questions as how many people died, which in turn left the door open to revisionism in far-right circles. Several nationalist lawmakers, clergymen and journalists continue to dispute Polish complicity.
“Jedwabne was ultimately a missed opportunity,” Jan Gross, the Princeton historian whose research triggered the 2001 debate, told JTA. “Some important findings were recovered, but questions persisted because the probe was interrupted before basic facts could be recovered.”
For Kadlcik, Wasosz is a chance to correct the opportunity missed at Jedwabne.
“For the ultranationalists, the bottom line from Jedwabne is as follows: The Jews made accusations but hid behind their religious laws at the first attempt to corroborate,” Kadlcik said. “Well, this time we need to settle this and serve justice.”
But Schudrich also drew painful lessons from the Jedwabne probe.
“The entire place was littered with human remains – not just the area where we thought the bodies lay,” he said. “So as soon as the digging began, we saw bones fused together in fire, earrings of little girls. We found children’s bones. To any reasonable person, that settled any doubts there may have been about a massacre. There is no justification to violate the dignity of the dead.”
As for serving justice, Schudrich said, “The perpetrators will get justice from God. The small minority that refuses to face reality and historical evidence, no exhumation is going to change their minds.” Hmmm....The truth must be known, so we learn from our past , NEVER AGAIN.
Archeologists Find Gas Chamber at Sobibor Nazi Death Camp
Archeologists Find Gas Chamber at Sobibor Nazi Death Camp. Dig Uncovers Well-Preserved Nazi Horror. HT: Forward.
An archaeological dig at Sobibor has uncovered the Nazi death camp’s gas chambers. The excavations in Poland have been going on since 2007, and thousands of inmates’ personal items have been found at the site. They include rings, pendants, earrings, jewelry, perfume bottles, medicine cases and food utensils, Yad Vashem said Wednesday.
The water well used at Sobibor’s Camp 1, in which an uprising by inmates took place, also was discovered. The well also contained the personal items of Jewish inmates.
David Silberklang, senior historian at the International Institute for Holocaust Research and editor in chief of Yad Vashem Studies, called the discovery of the gas chambers “a very important finding in Holocaust research.”
“There were no survivors from among the Jews who worked in the area of the gas chambers. Therefore, these findings are all that is left of those murdered there, and they open a window onto the day-to-day suffering of these people,” he said in a statement.
“We will now be able to know more precisely what the process of murder was in the camp, and what the Jews went through until they were murdered. Additionally, finding the gas chambers and their capacity will enable us to estimate more precisely the number of people murdered in Sobibor.”
Archaeologist Yoram Haimi said the staff was “amazed at the size of the building and the well-preserved condition of the chamber walls.”
The Sobibor camp operated between April 1942 and October 1943, during which time some 250,000 Jews were murdered there. In the wake of the camp uprising on Oct. 14, 1943, the Germans decided to dismantle the camp, bulldozing it and leaving no signs that it was a former death camp.
Until now, researchers used survivor testimony for details about the camp.

The Netherlands: Jew attacked during interview about 'Non existent' antisemitism.HT: AntisemitismEurope.
Fabrice Schomberg, a Jewish resident of the Hague, was attacked while being interviewed about previous antisemitic incidents.
He tells his story here:
Yesterday the EO 3onderzoekt program on NED3 filmed me walking from my home in Schilderswijk, Den Haag to the Haagse Markt to buy groceries for the Kiddush, the evening Shabbat meal.
It has been a while since I have been walking around with a kippah in the neighbourhood, since in the past I have been pestered a few times and I am no longer as religious as I was so I don’t wear it in the street anymore.
However the television crew interviewed a few people that said that there is no problem in the neighbourhood and I said that I can get harassed if I walk with a Kippah, so to prove my point, the television crew wanted me to walk with my kipa on to the Market, so I did,
a few seconds after walking out of the hofje of which I live in we hear kankerjood (cancer Jew) [ed: f**king Jew] from a group of youngsters,
it seems they followed us to another square on the way to the market and shouted more things like this and one guy drove his scooter on the pavement and tried to run me down and kick me, I had to move away from him and it was filmed by the television crew, so when I came back I called the police, they came over and today I'll be filing a complaint.

Lawyers of Killer of Jewish Museum bring antisemitic salute together with French comedian Dieudonné
Lawyers of Killer of Jewish Museum bring antisemitic salute together with French comedian Dieudonné (BVL) [GoogleTranslate].
The two lawyers Mehdi Nemmouche, which killed four people with his attack on the Jewish Museum in Brussels, standing on a picture with the French comedian Dieudonné while doing a "quenelle", a gesture linked to anti-Semitism.
The undated photo of the lawyers shows them performing the quenelle with the gesture’s inventor, the French comedian Dieudonne M’bala M’bala, who has several conviction for inciting racial hatred against Jews and has written, directed, produced and starred in the 2012 film called “The Antisemite.”
Earlier this year, Manuel Valls, France’s former interior minister, said the quenelle — the act of folding one’s arm over one’s chest while pointing downward with the other arm — was “ an anti-Semitic gesture, an inverted Nazi gesture” which may violate France’s laws against incitement.
Valls, who is now France’s prime minister, made the assertion based on hundreds of photos online of people performing the quenelle at sites connected to the Holocaust or Jews, or while holding a pineapple in an allusion to a joke created by Dieudonne to suggest the Holocaust never happened or to mock it without breaking laws forbidding Holocaust denial. Dieudonne coined the phrase “shoananas” — a mashup of the Hebrew world for the genocide and the French word for pineapple.

source -A quarter of people in the world are "deeply infected" with anti-Semitism, according to a survey released Tuesday by the Anti-Defamation League.
The survey, the most comprehensive ever conducted on the subject within the Institute in New York, is final and indicates that negative attitudes toward Jews are "persistent and pervasive" worldwide.
Eleven statements on which 50,000 people have spoken in 102 countries each show antisemitic stereotypes:
1) Jews are more loyal to Israel than the country / countries where they live.
2) Jews have too much power in the business world.
3) Jews have too much power in international financial markets.
4) The Jews do not care what happens to others, but only their own fate.
5) Jews have too much control over world affairs.
6) People hate Jews because of how Jews behave.
7) The Jews think they are better than others.
8) Jews have too much control over the government of the United States.
9) Jews have too much control over the international media.
10) Jews still talk too much about what happened to them during the Holocaust.
11) the Jews are responsible for most of the wars in the world.
According to the results, less than half of respondents have heard of the Holocaust and two-thirds of respondents said they did not believe the official number of victims.
The national director of the ADL, Abe Foxman said that the people who responded positively to at least 6 of these were found to be anti-Semitic stereotypes.
He said he had deliberately set a high bar for "underestimate" rather than "overestimate" the magnitude, indicating that 28% of respondents had validated all stereotypes.
According to the survey, the most dominant bias is that concerning the loyalty of Jews to Israel, since 41% of respondents have said true.
In the second position, we find that the Jews "have too much power in the business world" as it collects 35% of affirmative responses.
According to the study, which established a classification by region, the least anti-Semitic country in the world is Laos (0.2%) and Tanzania (12%) and Thailand (13%).
93% of the "Arab-Palestinians" considered anti-Semitic
Conversely, the region most affected by anti-Semitism is the Middle East and especially Gaza and Judea and Samaria.
"Anti-Semitism is pervasive in Palestinian society," says the ADL with a rate of 93%.
Furthermore, the survey shows that a quarter of respondents who admitted he had never met a Jew were considered anti-Semitic, according to the criteria adopted by the Institute.
The world Jewish population was also largely overestimated by respondents as 18% were measured at more than one tenth of the world population while it is only 0.19%.
This survey allows for "a real sense of the pervasiveness and persistence of anti-Semitism in the world today," said Foxman, explaining that this approach goes beyond the usual reports of anti-Semitic incidents.
On the other hand, if the Middle East and North Africa are the most affected regions, Eastern Europe and Western Europe arrive just behind with figures also high.
So surprised that Arab Muslims are the most anti-Semitic, especially those who live in the ancient Jewish homeland and the Gaza Strip?
