Iranian press snubs Trudeau admin: 'Excess Luggage: Disgruntled Canada Wants Back to Iran'.

Iranian press snubs Trudeau admin: 'Excess Luggage: Disgruntled Canada Wants Back to Iran'. (Fars).

Until yesterday it was at the forefront of the NPT-illegal economic warfare against Iran. Today, the Canadian government says it is out for a rip to find the quickest route back to the Islamic Republic – with excess luggage of course.
And with excess luggage we mean this: Foreign Affairs Minister Stéphane Dion has just told reporters that his government will lift some sanctions on Iran now that a deal has been reached to curb - what he called - its “contentious” nuclear program.

And his snobbery doesn’t stop there. Dion goes on to allege that "Canada will maintain a level of mistrust for a regime that must not have nuclear weapons, a regime that is a danger to human rights, and is not a friend to our allies, including Israel."

The Canadian foreign minister should take note:

* When his government decided to close its embassy in Tehran and leave, no one cared. Now they have had a change of heart and want back. Again no one will care. What’s so special about their reappearance anyway?

* What sanctions is Dion talking about? Technology? Food? Car? Medicine? He can spend a whole month in Tehran to look for a Canadian-made product and still find nothing. The value of Iran-Canada trade is too trivial for him to brag about.

* Dion says “Canada will maintain a level of mistrust…” Well, good for you! He can be pretty much sure that Tehran will similarly maintain the same level of mistrust over a regime that abruptly leaves and abruptly returns - just like a disgruntled, irrational and unfaithful partner! But wait a minute. Canada didn’t just abruptly close its embassy in 2012 and leave. It also expelled Iranian diplomats from Ottawa and formally listed Iran as a state sponsor of terrorism!

* When asked specifically about exporting civilian aircraft — Bombardier hopes to sell regional jets to the country's national air carrier, Iran Air — Dion said it made no sense to maintain sanctions that hurt such an important Canadian industry!
"If Airbus is able to do it, why will Bombardier not be able to do it? In which way is it helping Canada, or the Iranian people or Israel or anyone that Canada is hurting its own industry?" Dion’s comments defy logic and we are lost in translation. We just don’t know what to make of it!

* Dion claims, "Iran continues to be a state sponsor of terrorism, continues to deny as state policy the very existence of Israel…” The country the Canadian foreign minister is complaining about is now at the forefront of the Real War on Terror in Iraq and Syria, where it has lost some of its best military commanders and elites. If still in doubt, he can ask the long-suffering people of Iraq and Syria. He can even go to Europe to hear the truth from his European counterparts. It’s closer to Canada.

* The Israel Dion is so keen to defend is a regime that has committed and continues to commit crimes against humanity in Syria, Lebanon and occupied Palestinian territories, including in Gaza - with great impunity and no accountability. If still he insists, he can find out more by going through official reports published by the Human Rights Council, Amnesty International, United Nations, and several other international aid groups and agencies.

* Dion admonishes Iran for human rights abuses while he knows his country is helping Saudi Arabia in its generational wars of aggression and terror. The same government that Dion claims is a strong voice for the protection of human rights and the advancement of democratic values, stands accused of signing off on the sales of advanced surveillance technologies and weaponry to the repressive regime of Saudi Arabia. This makes Canada complicit in Saudi crimes, as its technologies and weaponry are being used against the people of Yemen in clear violation of international humanitarian law.

All this and more speaks volumes about the irrefutable fact that the comic image of Canada as the “great defender of human rights” does not hold water when it's a matter of counter-terrorism campaign and international humanitarian law. Foreign Minister Dion should keep that in mind when his Bombardier begins landing in Tehran with so much excess luggage.

Hmmmm............Islamist respect strength like PM Harper showed, Appeasement doesn't work.

Qatar Announces Major Cabinet Reshuffle.

Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdurrahman bin Jassim Al-Thani and EU Mogherini.

Qatar Announces Major Cabinet Reshuffle. (Fars).

Qatar's Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani appointed new foreign and labor ministers, in a reshuffle of heavyweight cabinet positions, state media announced.

Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman al-Thani, a member of the royal family, replaced Khalid al-Attiyah as foreign minister, according to the order published by Qatar state news agency, Al-Menar reported.

Attiyah, whose father was the founder of Qatar's armed forces, was appointed the minister of state for defense. The emir himself holds the post of defense minister.

Attiyah had been the Persian Gulf state's foreign minister since 2013 and was recently heavily involved in international negotiations on the Syrian war

He had worked within that department since 2011. Sheikh Mohammed is a senior official who was previously in charge of international cooperation in the foreign ministry.

In total, seven changes to the cabinet were reported by Qatar's state news agency as several ministries, including the labor, were merged.

One post which remained the same was that of the prime minister, held by Sheikh Abdullah bin Nasser bin Khalifa al-Thani since 2013. Hmmm..........The Muslim brotherhood club expands.

'When in Rome do as the Romans' - Nude statues covered to save Islamist Iranian blushes.

'When in Rome do as the Romans' - Nude statues covered to save Islamist Iranian blushes. (JPost).

Politicians slam Italian PM for making almost no reference to Iran's human rights record during presser with Rouhani, and for "surrendering" Italy's cultural identity by hiding nude statues of women.

Italian Prime Minister Matteo Renzi came under fire on Tuesday after ancient nude statues in Rome's Capitoline museum were covered up to avoid any possible offense to Iranian President Hassan Rouhani who is visiting the country.

Politicians on the Left and Right said not only had Renzi made almost no reference to Iran's human rights record during a joint news conference, but had also "surrendered" Italy's cultural identity by hiding the nude statues of women.

"Respect for other cultures cannot and must not mean negating our own," said Luca Squeri, a lawmaker in former Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi's center-right Forza Italia party. "This isn't respect, it's cancelling out differences and it's a kind of surrender."

At Iran's request Italy also kept wine off the menu at a ceremonial dinner on Monday evening. Hmmm........Mogherini guidelines? .Read the full story here.

Iran welcomes amicable relations with Canada's Trudeau admin.

Iran welcomes amicable relations with Canada's Trudeau admin. (IHN).

Iran would welcome reinforcing relations with Canada, spokesman for the Foreign Ministry said here on Monday.

Hossein Jaber Ansari made the remarks at his weekly press briefing in Tehran.

Commenting on Canada’s severing diplomatic relations with Iran, he said the fresh stance of the new Canadian government has been announced in mass media.

The ex-Canadian government severed its relations with Iran and we hope the new Canadian government would practice proper political and diplomatic measures aimed at fostering relations with Iran,’ he added.

‘Iran did not cut its relations with Canada and naturally Tehran would welcome amicable relations with Ottawa,’ he added.

Canadian ex-Prime Minister Stephen Harper’s administration severed diplomatic relations with Iran in September 2012, citing, among other pretexts, what it described as continued threats from Iran to Israel.

Back then, the Canadian government closed its embassy in the Iranian capital, Tehran, and demanded that Iranian diplomats leave Canada within five days.

The two countries maintain interest sections in the embassies of third countries.

ISIS Will Be Defeated, But Will Its 'Islamist' Ideology?

ISIS Will Be Defeated, But Will Its 'Islamist' Ideology? (Aina).

Pope Francis will offer a Mass next month to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the Armenian Genocide. For one priest in Iraq, at least, that genocide is not a thing of the past.

The Ottoman Empire in 1915 went after not only Armenian Christians but Assyrians as well, and Archimandrite Emanuel Youkhana is quick to point out its relevance to what's happening today.

Speaking of Christians living in villages along the Khabur River in northeastern Syria, who were forced from their homes recently by the advancing forces of the Islamic State group and who anxiously await news of more than 250 of their relatives and neighbors who are being held by ISIS, Father Youkhana says,
"Their grandfathers survived the Christian genocide of 1915.... The survivors fled to Dohuk, which became part of the new state of Iraq. A year after Iraq became a member of the League of Nations, in 1932, on August 6 and 7, 1933, a new massacre and the first genocide in the new Iraq took place in Semele, near Duhok, against Christian Assyrians."

Ironically, August 6 and 7 of last year saw the Islamic State group take control of Christian areas of northern Iraq.

Now, after 100 years, the grandsons of the Ottoman-era Assyrians are trying to survive a new massacre, Father Youkhana says.

"Three massacres for the same people in one century," said the priest of the Assyrian Church of the East. "Enough of this open ended persecution."

He points out that the current onslaugth is accompanied by the destruction of Assyrian historical artifacts in places like Mosul, Hatra and Nimrud.

"If our history is being destroyed and our historical sites are demolished, and our present is being targeted and we are being massacred, can we have a future?" he asks. "Is there any future if there is no past and no present?"

Father Youkhana, head of the Christian Aid Program in Northern Iraq, spoke by phone with Aleteia about the Khabur River valley captives, the ideology behind ISIS, and what the international community must do to help the Christian community survive in its historic Middle Eastern homeland.

Could you review what happened to the Christian hostages from the Khabur River area? How were they abducted? What is the latest?

On February 23, IS managed to advance and take over the southern part of the Khabur River, the Assyrian region where we have 55 villages. Half of them are on the southern part of the Khabur, half on the northern part. So they advanced to the southern part and were able to control all the villages there, but because of the river, thank God, they were unable to advance to the northern part.

They were able to advance only to two of the villages because the level of the water helped them in that region--Tel Jezira and Tel Gouran. Villages in the northern parts were saved from the attacks, but of course people were scared, so the whole region of Khabur fled--some 1,200 families. Now they are displaced: around 1000 are in the city of Hassakah, and another 200 in Qamishli.

As to the hostages, according to the early figures we had we're speaking about 51 families. But then we learned there were hostages from other villages, so in total there were around 287 captives.
Thank God one week later--last week--19 were released and then another four the next day. So 23 were released, and around 250 are still captives.

We have had long decades of peaceful coexistence in the region of Khabur, as a Church, as a community. We've lived in peace and good relations with all our neighbors, whether Arabs or Sunnis or Kurds, so we invest on this long history of peaceful coexistence, that there will be hopefully a peaceful release of the captives.

There are women and children --they had nothing to do with this fight or battles or political positions. They are normal people living normal lives, so we hope that prominent Arab tribal leaders can be a channel for us, to help. But these issues are very sensitive. We should be very careful in handling them, or coming out with public statements.

Are you hearing reports from people living under ISIS control? What are they saying?
In all ISIS controlled areas in Iraq and Syria, you can't say there are Christian communities living under ISIS. They all escaped. The only ones left are the people who failed to flee.

The advance of IS was so fast, or some individuals lacked the means to flee. So there are no Christians living in IS regions willingly.

So the sources of information are very limited. But speaking for the captives, the only source we have are our tribal leaders who are confirming that they are not harmed, so far, and what we have witnessed from the 23 who were released, they all gave the testimony that they were not harmed, they were not tortured.

But speaking again to the question of Christians under IS, you see what happened in Mosul: they were given the ultimatum either to convert to Islam or to flee or to pay the jizya. So what kind of life, even if you manage to stay?

Is the jizya a very heavy tax?

They are using the so-called Sharia, and according to Sharia there are categories for wealthy people, for young people, for children.

But the idea is not how much you owe, it's the principle: why do I have to pay? And are you going to survive and live as a Christian even if you pay? You see the crosses are being removed from all the churches, in Mosul, for example. In many cases the cross has been built into the facade of the building. Now in the case of the St. George monastery, which was founded more than 1000 years ago, the cross has been removed from the dome of the church and two days ago they bombed the front wall because there was a built-in cross.

So even if you pay the jizya,... If moderate Muslims are not willing and not happy to live under IS, how can a Christian live?

One of the freed hostages, in an interview with the Assyrian International News Agency, said that he and the others feel that they can not go back to their homes now, that they will go to Lebanon. How widespread is this feeling among Christians in the region?

There is an extra factor pushing our people to flee. Migration is something normal for all countries, all communities. But what's harming us--not only Assyrian Christians but all Christians under Islam in these countries--is that the diaspora is becoming bigger and stronger than in the homeland. The church parishes are more than what is left in the homeland--the academic-allied people, the financial capacity of our people. But we should keep in mind that a diaspora is a diaspora when there is a homeland. Otherwise, it's meaningless.

Migration is an outcome of two groups of factors: one, pushing factors--security, unclear future, unemployment, poverty, etc., and the other group of factors are attracting factors--a better economic situation, living in dignity, living in organized countries, etc.

So in our case, we have a lot of attracting factors because of 100 years of diaspora, every family has more than half of their family in the diaspora, so they are attracting. And we have pushing factors with what's going on in Iraq and Syria. So the outcome is that the tendency of our people is to migrate, and now what happened in Khabur, especially with the captives, it is very understandable.

But I myself strongly believe that the diaspora cannot be a homeland. The diaspora can be an individual solution for individual cases.

You may offer the solution for several families, but what about 300,000-plus Christians in Iraq? What about a million Christians in Syria? Should they all leave? It is our commitment --ourselves, our Church--to keep Christians communities in our homelands. Should Christianity become a museum in its homeland? What about 2000 years of Eastern Christian Church's contribution? To escape is not the solution of the problem.

Can you update us on the situation of the internally displaced persons in northern Iraq? They fled Mosul and villages of the Nineveh Plain last summer and have spent an entire winter in camps and trailers and unfinished buildings in Erbil. Is hope wearing thin?

What happened in northern Iraq with the dramatic collapse of the Iraqi army and the dramatic advance of IS in Mosul and the Nineveh Plain is something that was never expected to happen this fast. It's not the first time people are fleeing from Mosul, by the way.

What makes it different this time? First, this mass exodus--no Christians are left in Mosul--the volume of displacement.

The second issue is that it is now nine months--a long time for displacement. This is making it more difficult for people to survive and restore and to be confident of going back home. The only families that went back are in Alquosh, which was not reached by IS, but people fled because they were scared. So people went back after they were assured that IS cannot advance.

But speaking for Christians in the Nineveh Plain and Mosul, they are now lacking the confidence that they will go back in the near future to their villages. When they fled in August they were hoping they would be able to celebrate Christmas back home. Now we are approaching Easter, and there is no indication that they will be able to go back soon.

In addition, what makes this case special is the position and attitude and behavior of their next door neighbors. We were betrayed by our neighbors, who we shared with for decades and centuries.

So there is a lack of trust. We can't trust. It's not only the issue of security, that IS will be defeated, as definitely it will be defeated sooner or later. But just to restore Quaraquosh or Bartilla or these Christian towns on the Nineveh Plain, to liberate them from the hands of Daesh--is it enough for people to go back? No. There's this issue of confidence that it will not happen again, the issue of trust--can I trust my next door neighbor, the Arab Sunni? The issue of infrastructure: all has been damaged.

So there are too many reasons to believe that it will not happen soon. Therefore there should be a clear plan, first, of course, to liberate it sooner, on the military level, but at the same time to protect it, to grant the status of governorate of Nineveh Plain so that the non-Muslim minorities--Christian, Yazidis--can elect their governor as all Iraqis are doing in every governorate, so they will have a portion of the Iraqi budget so they can rebuild what has been damaged. So that they feel they are building their future themselves in partnership with the Iraqi state.

Unfortunately we don't see a clear plan for this. Thanks to all, speaking on humanitarian level, on Church level, organizations, speaking on military level, who are helping the IDPs and stopping the advance of IS. But we are so far only dealing with outcomes of the problem; we need to deal with the roots of the problem. Otherwise there will be an opening [for terrorists].

This year is the 100th anniversary of the Christian genocide under the Ottomans, but we are still living the same. So it's an open-ended genocide for Eastern Christians. We need to deal with the roots--otherwise it will happen again.

How can a governorate be initiated?

It's a very clear legal, constitutional way, and they started before the advance of IS. The cabinet can suggest to the parliament to create it. We have 18 governorates in Iraq, and the 19th will be created soon, the Halabjah (in Kurdistan). So Nineveh would be maybe the 20th.

But is there any political will for Muslim ruling parties, whether Shi'ites or Sunnis, to give this dignity to the Christians and Yazidis? The dhimmitude culture is ruling in Baghdad, by Shia and Sunnis. The Christians and non-Muslims are not a priority.

We no more trust the nice wording that comes from Iraqi rulers in Baghdad after every massacre, every persecution. We feel enough is enough. We need action.

So we call upon the international community to do something. It was good that the US had this military intervention to stop the advance of IS. It's good that western countries are all in this one position to defeat IS on the military level. But this is the outcome, and we should deal with the roots.

The root is this intolerant culture, intolerant persecution, intolerant legislation toward non-Muslims.

So they could put pressure on Baghdad to pass this legislation to create this Nineveh Plain province, and then with the material support of the Western countries and people in the diaspora to rebuild this province so Christians there feel they have a future.

You said the Islamic State will eventually be defeated. What gives you that confidence, and how will it happen?

Such a brutal, barbaric group cannot control and operate a state of 6 million to 8 million people. I'm not a military man, but militarily speaking they cannot survive; they will be defeated. The military existence of IS is the outcome of the culture of IS, of intolerant Islam. So we will defeat IS, definitely.

But what's promoted by IS, according to Islamic Sharia, about how they consider, how they look toward the non-Muslims is there. The discrimination is there.

The military advance of IS is the outcome. We should deal with the roots, and the roots are there. With a couple of clicks you can find it in Google, the root of the problem.

Just go to see what is the curriculum in Saudi Arabia, in Qatar, in the Gulf States, what the curriculum in the schools is telling about the non-Muslims.

Just click and see the imams--you can see on Youtube, how they are nurturing, how they are educating people. I totally disagree with people who are coming with excuses for extremism, that it's because of poverty, like the statement from the White House that to defeat IS we should think about jobs and employment, etc. Please!

Okay, poverty is, poverty always, poverty is a good environment for radicals, for these groups. But the poverty in southeast Asia, in India and other places, in Africa, is much more than the poverty in Arab countries. But have you seen a non-Muslim terrorist group coming from an African or Asian poor country? What about the 10,000 insurgents coming from Europe? Is it poverty? No, it is education.

As long as these countries are not reviewing the constitution to be a secular one, to separate religion from the state, this discrimination will keep going. It's not a Syrian or Iraqi issue. It's an issue of non-Muslim minorities and Islam.

Sorry to say, we as Christians, including myself, are big liars, because we had always claimed, because of this dhimmitude behavior, dhimmitude attitude that we are used to that for a few centuries; we say we have always been in peace with our Muslim neighbors. No, sorry sir! We have never been in peace.

Similarly, the mistake made by western countries, whether Church or decision makers, that you try to beautify Islam more than Muslims should do. It's very often now you see it, in politics. Mr. Obama himself, and others: "Yeah, IS is not Islam." Sorry sir! IS is very Islam.

Courting the Canadian Islamist vote.

Courting the Canadian Islamist vote. HT: EzraLevant.

Justin Trudeau doesn’t campaign a lot in churches these days. Not since he announced his ban on Liberal candidates who are pro-life Christians.

Trudeau doesn’t spend much time in Jewish synagogues either, other than the occasional fundraiser.

But he always makes time to visit a mosque during his travels. It’s his central ethnic outreach strategy.

So in the 14 short months before the next election, the Liberals have decided to go for the one group that feels aggrieved by Harper’s conservative policies: radical Muslims, including those who actually side with terrorist groups.
Of course, most Canadian Muslims want to live in peace and freedom like the rest of us. But many don’t abide Harper’s strong support for Israel. And according to a 2007 Environics poll of Canadian Muslims, taken after the arrest of the so-called Toronto 18 terrorist plotters, a significant number actually support terrorism. Fully 13% of Canadian Muslims said the planned terrorist attacks would have been either completely or somewhat justified.

There are about a million Muslims in Canada – which means about 130,000 actually support a massive terrorist attack on their own country.
Add to that Muslims who wouldn’t go so far as to support terrorism against Canada, but who merely despise Harper’s support for Israel, and you’re talking about a very large voting block – especially in certain ridings, including Trudeau’s own.

Which is precisely why Trudeau has targeted them. And he’s hired the right guy for the job: Omar Alghabra, the Saudi-born extremist who used to run the anti-Semitic Canadian Arab Federation. That lobby group claims that Hamas and Hezbollah are not terrorists. Normally, in politics, Alghabra is someone you keep far away from you. But Trudeau keeps Alghabra very close – he’s been the key to unlocking the anti-Israel vote, the anti-Semitic vote, the pro-Hamas vote, and the pro-sharia vote.Hmmm.......the Dhimmi even worse then the Islamist.Read the full story here.

Canada's Justin Trudeau Accuses Harper of Pandering to Jewish Vote

Justin Trudeau , second from left.

Canada's Justin Trudeau Accuses Harper of Pandering to Jewish Vote. (INN).
In advance of the upcoming 2015 Canadian prime ministerial elections, Liberal party leader Justin Trudeau has claimed that Prime Minister Stephen Harper's policies reflect an effort to pander to the Jewish vote.
Trudeau accused Harper of pursuing a staunchly pro-Israel foreign policy so as to gain Jewish votes, during an interview last Thursday with the Farsi-language weekly newspaper Salaam Toronto. The paper is read by Iranian-Canadians, and is widely recognized as being supportive of the Liberal party.

"Until the prime minister was chosen to be prime minister, he practically didn't travel abroad, and his position on foreign policy was from the point of view of 'can it advance my election campaign or not,'" claimed Trudeau to the paper, reports Shalom Toronto.

"His (Harper's) position on issues tied to Israel or to the United Nations is very much based on what can affect his standing in the ballot box," charged Trudeau.

The Liberal party leader attacked Harper further, saying the crisis in Ukraine troubled him because of the presence of a large Ukrainian community in Canada that is worried about the crisis. Trudeau claimed Harper's visit with Minister of Foreign Affairs John Baird to Ukraine was meant as a photo opportunity to gain more votes.

Trudeau attacked Baird as well, saying his trips abroad were used to represent his Conservative party, and not Canada. In doing so, the Liberal leader charged Baird with harming Canada's openness and accountability.

Supporting ties with Iran

Speaking to the Iranian-Canadian paper, Trudeau slammed Canada's tough stance on Iran's nuclear program, saying "the Iranian people are different from the Iranian government. The current Canadian government isn't going to the root of the issue at all and doesn't under this. The most obvious example of this was the decision last year to close the (Canadian) embassy (in Tehran)."

The embassy was in fact closed in September, 2012. While Trudeau recognized the security concerns that led to the decision, he espoused an approach of dialogue "with regimes we have opposing opinions with." He argued for keeping open communications with Iran, ostensibly to protect Iranian-Canadians in the Islamic regime.

"My approach to Canada is different," argued Trudeau, saying after he became leader of the Liberal party he traveled to Washington DC and took positions that "surprised many."

The Liberal leader, after accusing Harper of calculated political decisions, claimed he hadn't voiced his opposition to Harper's opinions earlier so as to preserve a unified Canadian voice in the international arena.

Trudeau, who is leading in polls for the election race, has in recent months argued that Canada should take a more "balanced line" regarding the Middle East, potentially signifying a shift away from support for Israel.

While Trudeau has accused Harper of playing a political game for support with local Jews, he himself has spoken in favor of drawing closer to the large Muslim population in Canada.Hmmmm.....it's not hard to figure out where Mr Trudeau gets his votes from.

McCain Gets Back at Putin in Pravda Op-Ed.

McCain Gets Back at Putin in Pravda Op-Ed.(MoscowNews)

U.S. Senator John McCain has responded to President Vladimir Putin's The New York Times op-ed, publishing an article titled "Russians deserve better than Putin" on the Russian news website Pravda.ru Thursday.

In his piece, McCain told readers that his usual criticism of their country doesn't mean that he is anti-Russian, but rather "more pro-Russian than the regime that misrules you today" adding that the authorities constantly "perpetuate their power and excuse their corruption."

The Republican senator went on to litany his problems with the Putin regime, including recent laws targeting NGOs and violating gay rights, criminal cases against opposition activists, Russia's poor judicial system and unfair elections.

"He has given you a political system that is sustained by corruption and repression and isn't strong enough to tolerate dissent," McCain wrote.

McCain's article was prompted by Putin's op-ed in The New York Times published last week, in which the Russian president cautioned the U.S. against a military intervention in Syria.

In response, McCain blamed Putin for allying with some of "the world's most offensive and threatening tyrants," such as Syrian President Bashar Assad.

McCain is also a vocal supporter of the Magnitsky Act that bans Russian officials implicated in human rights violations from coming to the U.S. and holding assets there. He said crimes against Sergei Magnitsky, the law's namesake who was arrested and died in prison shortly after uncovering a large corruption scheme, was a crime against the Russian people as a whole.

Senator McCain invited to Rossiya 1 TV channel.

Senator McCain invited to Rossiya 1 TV channel.(RBTH).
Journalist Vladimir Solovyov has invited U.S. Republican Senator John McCain to appear in his program aired on the Rossiya 1 television channel on Sunday nights.
"On behalf of the VGTRK [broadcaster] and myself I invite Senator John McCain to a live program, "Voskresny Vecher" [Sunday evening]," the journalist wrote on Twitter.

It was reported on Saturday that the senator, one of the fiercest critics of Russia in the U.S. Congress, might respond to Russian President Vladimir Putin's op-ed in The New York Times on Syria with an article in the Russian newspaper Pravda.
BBC said the senator deemed the Russian president's article insulting and was highly skeptical about the Russian proposal aimed at the Syrian abandonment of chemical weapons.

Meanwhile, Russian presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov said he was perplexed by comments from White House officials about Russian President Vladimir Putin's op-ed in The New York Times.
"We heard a statement by a White House press secretary this morning by Moscow time. I would like to note in this regard that, when Putin was writing this article and when Russia was preparing its publication, no one actually was going to enter into a confrontation with anyone, not to mention offend anyone," Peskov told journalists in Bishkek on Friday.

"Putin never lectures anyone in international affairs. He just doesn't have this habit," he said.
"Our American friends have gotten quite accustomed to backslapping everyone a patronizing way in the past several decades," Peskov said. "This is what has often formed attitudes toward the U.S. in the world," he said.
"We still find it hard to understand why our partners and counterparts in the White House administration still insist on their exceptionalism. Democratic existence in itself implies the existence in a competitive environment. There is the impression sometimes that our partners have grown disaccustomed to this."
Putin said in the article published on Thursday that he considers U.S. President Barack Obama's words on what makes the U.S. nation exceptional dangerous. White House press secretary Jay Carney responded with a long statement.Hmmm....Perhaps McCain can enlighten the Russians in Beslan on the meaning of 'Allahu Akhbar'?

McCain to respond to Putin's op-ed in Pravda.

McCain to respond to Putin's op-ed in Pravda.(RusiaToday).
The announcement was made on Friday by Brian Rogers, a spokesman for the senior Republican senator known to be one of the fiercest Kremlin critics.
This comes shortly after the US daily published Putin’s op-ed, in which he criticized Washington for the tendency to rely “solely on brute force” in their foreign policy.
It is alarming that military intervention in internal conflicts in foreign countries has become commonplace for the United States,” the Russian president said in his open letter to the American people. Putin also warned that a strike against Syria “would increase violence and unleash a new wave of terrorism.”

The publication triggered a tough response from the White House as well as from top US lawmakers.  Senator McCain described Putin’s piece as “an insult to the intelligence of every American.” In an interview with CNN on Thursday, he joked that he would “love to have a commentary in Pravda.”
Foreign Policy magazine sent the transcript of McCain’s interview to the Russian news outlet, Pravda.ru, and got their agreement to publish the Arizona Republican’s op-ed.

“Mr. McCain has been an active anti-Russian politician for many years already,” said Dmitry Sudakov, the English editor of Pravda.ru, as cited by the Foreign Policy’s blog, The Cable. “We have been critical of his stance on Russia and international politics in our materials, but we would be only pleased to publish a story penned by such a prominent politician as John McCain.”
Sudakov said that he is convinced that he would not agree on many things that the American politician would have to say in his column, but his article would “obviously be published in English” and then also translated into Russian.

When The Cable reached the Senator’s office with the news, McCain’s spokesman said that he “would be glad to write something for Pravda, so we'll be reaching out to Dmitry with a submission.” According to spokesman Rogers, McCain would most likely want to address such issues as democracy and human rights in Russia, “and certainly Putin’s regime aiding and abetting of the Syrian regime, which has killed 100,000 of its own people.”

The news stirred a bit of controversy in the Russian media since it was not immediately clear which Pravda newspaper McCain was going to write for – the post-Soviet edition of Pravda newspaper or the on-line news outlet Pravda.ru that The Cable actually contacted.
Back in the Soviet times there was only one newspaper called Pravda (or ‘The Truth’), which was established in 1912. After the 1917 Bolshevik revolution and until the collapse of the USSR it remained the country’s most influential daily.
Since the mid 1990s, the successor of that Pravda has belonged to the Russian Communist Party (the KPRF).  The Pravda, published in Russian, is the official organ of the party and is led by Communist MP Boris Komotsky.

Some journalists from the USSR-era Pravda paper migrated to an online news outlet which was established in 1999 as Pravda On-Line and then rebranded Pravda.ru in 2003. This Pravda does have an English version.
The Communist daily was pretty surprised to know from the reports in the press that “they agreed” to post McCain’s op-ed.
“Once I learned about that, I started worrying: how should we pay him – in roubles of dollars?” Pravda newspaper editor-in-chief Komotsky said, as cited by Itar-Tass. “Then I thought maybe McCain is in talks with some ‘Oklahoma city Pravda’,” he said.
Gennady Zyuganov, the leader of the KPRF, said that if the newspaper does get a proposal from McCain “we will be ready to consider it, but only if his opinion does not contradict the Communist Party’s position on the war in Syria,” the party’s website quotes.
He reiterated the KPRF’s view that there is a war “between the legal Syrian government which is supported by the people and gangs of international terrorists supported from abroad.” The main objective of this “special operation” is the overthrow of the government in order to gain control over the country’s resources to exploit them, Zyuganov said, adding that the same was true of the wars in Libya and Iraq.
The US is attempting to eliminate our last ally in the Middle East – Syria. And McCain is one of the most predatory hawks urging direct aggression [against Syria]," the Communist leader believes.
It is still not clear which of the two Pravda news outlets McCain actually kept in mind when making his comment to CNN.
However, according to The Cable, he will now write his column for Pravda.ru and the piece is expected to be submitted by Wednesday next week.
“We will have Senator McCain’s op-ed translated into Russian so that we can be certain of the accuracy of translation,” Rogers is cited as saying. Hmmmm......."Allah Akhbar" McCain, pullitzer prize winner?

CNN Whitewashes Palestinian Soccer Star’s Terror Ties.

CNN Whitewashes Palestinian Soccer Star’s Terror Ties.HT: ClarionProject.By Emily.
The network neglects saying that the star is a member Palestinian Islamic Jihad, a group responsible for many suicide bombings.
Critics came down hard against CNN for a running glowing story about Mahmoud Sarsak, a Palestinian soccer player who is in the news for boycotting Israel. In the feature piece, the network neglects to mention that Sarsak is a member of Palestinian Islamic Jihad (PIJ), a terrorist group responsible for suicide bombings in nightclubs, restaurants, and supermarkets.
The CNN profile of Sarsak, written by James Montague, begins with sympathetic descriptions of his hunger strike against Israeli authorities and downplays his ties to the Palestinian Islamic Jihad, critics say.
In the article, Sarsak complains about how the professional soccer league, the UEFA, has decided to hold its latest tournament in Israel, provoking his (failed) boycotting efforts. Sarsak claims he suffered "abuse" at the hands of the Israelis while under arrest for suspicion of links to terror groups.

CNN neglects to inform readers of all the ties Sarsak has to the PIJ. As the Washington Free Beacon pointed out, Sarsak has a history of associating with the PIJ. The news outlet reports a series of examples in the public domain that show just how close Sarsak is to the terror group:
In July of 2012, Sarsak was depicted in a photo on the Islamic Jihad's "Saraya" (the military wing) website wearing a PIJ scarf and being hoisted on the shoulders of PIJ operatives during a homecoming parade thrown in his honor when he returned to the Gaza Strip.

Further, Nafez Azzam, who is known as a "senior Islamic Jihad official," said that Sarsak is "one of our noble members." Sarsak became a popular figure among the terrorist group after he was released from an Israeli prison for his involvement with the PIJ. He went on a hunger strike for 93 days to protest his incarceration.

"The reporter makes a romantic figure out of someone with ties to Islamic Jihad and shows zero scepticism about Sarsak’s rendition of events," Andrea Levin, director of the Committee for Accuracy in Middle East Reporting in America (CAMERA) told the
Washington Free Beacon. "CNN shouldn’t be in the business of whitewashing. Viewers need the whole story."
"There’s no context for readers to understand why Israel would detain someone like this. It’s not made clear that Islamic Jihad is a terrorist group responsible for suicide bombings in nightclubs, restaurants, and supermarkets,” continued Levin. “In fact, CNN skirts saying directly [that] Sarsak is connected to Islamic Jihad, only that Israel ‘accused’ him of such links."
"CNN signed on for a campaign to whitewash a terrorist, which is despicable," said an official who wanted to remain anonymous.Hmmmm......."Beware of false prophets, which come to you in sheep's clothing, but inwardly they are ravening wolves. 16You shall know them by their fruits. Do men gather grapes of thorns, or figs of thistles? 17Even so every good tree brings forth good fruit; but a corrupt tree brings forth evil fruit." ~ Matthew 7:15 - 17.Read the full story here.

Paris police search for 'bearded man seen praying' before soldier attack.

Paris police search for 'bearded man seen praying' before soldier attack.(Telegraph).
Police in Paris have obtained video footage of a bearded man "praying" shortly before he stabbed a French soldier in the neck, fuelling suspicions it was an Islamist terror attack.
The video appears to suggest that the Paris attack could be inspired by the Islamist murder of a British serviceman in London.

Anti-terrorism investigators now say they have "high quality images" of a "tall, athletic bearded man" aged about 30, possibly of North African origin, praying near the spot where he attacked the 23-year-old soldier from behind with a knife or a box-cutter on Saturday. He then fled into a crowded train station and is still at large.

"He was filmed praying near where the attack took place. After the attack he can be seen leaving the shopping centre of La Défense (business district)," a source close the investigation told Le Parisien.

The soldier, Cédric Cordiez, survived the midafternoon attack and was discharged from hospital this morning but is said to be "traumatised" by the stabbing. It was carried out three days after a British soldier was murdered on a busy London street by two men shouting Islamist slogans.

Manuel Valls, the French interior minister, said there are "elements that lead us to believe it (the French attack) could be an act of terrorism" and that police are now pursuing "serious leads".

"The photos have been shown to the other two soldiers who were on patrol with the victim and the four witnesses present at the scene of the attack," said a source close to the French investigation.

"They all recognised the author of the attack, who wasn't wearing a djellaba, contrary what some people have said."He was reportedly wearing a small hat and dark clothes.

Police are conducting DNA tests after finding a bag near the crime scene with a box cutter, a sheath for a second knife, clothes and a half-finished bottle of fruit juice. Read the full story here.
