UN adopts organization associated with Hamas In a vote, whose participants included, among others, Iran, Sudan, Venezuela and Turkey, the UN determined that an organization that is associated to Hamas and supports terror can become a permanent NGO at the UN.

The United Nations Committee on Non-Governmental Organizations decided to grant the Palestinian Return Centre (PRC) an NGO status. The organization, which operates from Britain, promotes anti-Israel propaganda in Europe, in the political arena, in campuses and among the European public.

In 2010, Israel determined that the organization was illegal, because of its ties to Hamas. In 2010, a decree signed by Defense Minister Ehud Barak determined that the PRC serves as an organizational and coordinating wing of Hamas in Europe. Its members, according to the decree, are senior Hamas officials, operating to promote the terrorist group's agenda in Europe, and maintain direct contact with other Hamas senior officials, including its leaders in Damascus.

The PRC's guidelines include the denial of Israel's right to exist, supporting the right of return of refugees to Israeli territory in order to establish a Palestinian state instead of the Jewish state, and opposition to the peace process.

This is based on research conducted by the Intelligence and Terrorism Information Center, which also found that senior members of the PRC serve in other organizations, which involve, among other activities, transferring funds to Hamas.

A Non-Governmental Organization status enables organizations to strengthen their global influence and to widely spread their activities. This includes access to UN committees and conferences like the Human Rights Council, and permanent and Independent representation in UN sessions.

The committee is composed of 19 countries, including: Iran, Sudan, Venezuela, Cuba, Turkey, China, Russia, the United States and Israel. The result of the vote on the adoption of the organization as an NGO was 12 in favor (Including Iran, Pakistan, Sudan, Turkey, Venezuela, China and Cuba), three against (USA, Uruguay and Israel), and three abstentions (India, Russia and Greece). Burundi was absent from the vote.

Now, the UN went one step further, and gave Hamas a welcoming celebration at its main entrance, allowing it to be a full participant. Palestinian faction Hamas on Sunday warned Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu from embarking on a visit to the 'Ibrahimi Mosque' in the occupied West Bank city of Hebron.

In a statement, Hamas warned Netanyahu of "the consequences of storming and the desecrating the 'Ibrahimi Mosque'."

Earlier in the day, Israeli daily Yedioth Ahronoth reported that Netanyahu will visit the flashpoint site – known to Jews as the "Cave of the Patriarchs" – in the coming days as part of an electoral tour to the Jewish settlements in the West Bank.

Hamas slammed the intended visit as a "dangerous escalation" and stressed that the Palestinian people won't stand idly by.

Revered by both Muslims and Jews, the site is believed to contain the graves of the prophets Abraham, Isaac and Jacob.

Since the 1994 massacre of 29 Palestinian worshippers inside the Ibrahimi Mosque by extremist Jewish settler Baruch Goldstein, Israeli authorities have kept Muslim and Jewish worshippers segregated.

Hebron is home to roughly 160,000 Palestinian Muslims and some 500 Jewish settlers. The latter live in a number of Jewish-only settlement compounds heavily guarded by Israeli troops.

Khaled Meshaal, a senior leader of the Palestinian resistance movement Hamas, is to travel to the Iranian capital of Tehran soon, a senior Hamas member says.

Ahmed Yousef confirmed on Friday that Meshaal will travel to Tehran in less than a month, according to the Palestinian news agency Felestin al Yaum.

The official, who serves as a senior adviser to the Hamas government in Gaza, said that the trip is mainly aimed at improving the ties between Iran and Hamas.

Yousef said that Hamas leaders have held numerous meetings with Iranian officials over the issue and preparations will soon be made for Mehsaal’s visit to country.

Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian announced in late December 2014 that Meshaal is set to visit Iran, but did not declare a date for the visit. The senior Iranian diplomat also downplayed rumors about the suspension of ties between Iran and Hamas, saying “relations between Hamas and the Islamic Republic of Iran have never been cut.”

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan will pay a visit to Iran in the near future, Iran's Communications and Information Technology Minister Mahmoud Vaezi said Feb.3.

Vaezi, who is the co-chairs the Iran-Turkey Joint Commission for Economic Co-operation said bilateral trade between two countries is $15 billion, but both sides are keen to double that.

Iran and Turkey's presidents have met four times since mid-2013, when President Hassan Rouhani took office.

"Iran wants to increase the number of common banks and banking relations with Turkey," Vaezi added. Hmmm......What would be the odds for the Hamas leadership to visit Iran as well as Erdogan at the same time?

Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdoğan has vowed a struggle against alcohol, tobacco and drugs with his "full power" if he becomes a president.

Erdoğan, who is running for a presidential post on Aug. 10, didn't make it secret that he will turn the presidency into a more effective position, a stark departure from previous presidents who occupied the ceremonial seat.

Erdoğan recalled his "personal sensitivities" about smoking and said it is not only about tobacco, but also "alcohol." He also added "bonzai" to his list of "harmful products" he vowed to fight against and said this is both Turkey's "national and spiritiual matter."

He said if he is elected as a president, he will fight against harmful products, particularly alcohol and drugs, with all "my resources and authority." Hmmm....I predict European tour operators will get a lot more bookings to Greece.

Netanyahu finally speaks his mind: “Nobody should mess with us.”

At his Friday press conference, the prime minister ruled out full Palestinian sovereignty, derided the US approach to Israeli security, and set out his Middle East overview with unprecedented candor. His remarks were not widely reported; they should be.

Does Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu really support a two-state solution, or is his rhetoric to this effect disingenuous? Did he genuinely seek an accommodation with the Palestinians during the nine months of US-brokered negotiations that collapsed in April, or was he just stringing the Americans and the Palestinians along, while his heart is truly with the settlement enterprise?

These are fundamental questions — questions you’d think Israelis and the watching world would long since have been able to answer, especially given that Netanyahu is Israel’s second-longest serving prime minister ever. In fact, though, while many pundits claim to have definitive answers, most Israelis would acknowledge that they’ve never been entirely sure how Netanyahu sees a potential resolution of the Palestinian conflict, which concessions he’s truly ready to make, what his long-term vision looks like.

But now we know.

The uncertainties were swept aside on Friday afternoon, when the prime minister, for the first time in ages, gave a press conference on Day Four of Operation Protective Edge.

He spoke only in Hebrew, and we are in the middle of a mini-war, so his non-directly war-related remarks didn’t get widely reported. But those remarks should not be overlooked even in the midst of a bitter conflict with Gaza’s Islamist rulers; especially in the midst of a bitter conflict with Gaza’s Islamist rulers. The prime minister spoke his mind as rarely, if ever, before. He set out his worldview with the confidence of a leader who sees vindication in the chaos all around. He answered those fundamental questions.

Netanyahu began his appearance, typically, by reading some prepared remarks. But then, most atypically, he took a series of questions. And while he initially stuck to responses tied to the war against Hamas, its goals, and the terms under which it might be halted, he then moved — unasked — into territory he does not usually chart in public, and certainly not with such candor.

For some, his overall outlook will seem bleak and depressing; for others, savvy and pragmatic. One thing’s for sure: Nobody will ever be able to claim in the future that he didn’t tell us what he really thinks.

He made explicitly clear that he could never, ever, countenance a fully sovereign Palestinian state in the West Bank. He indicated that he sees Israel standing almost alone on the frontlines against vicious Islamic radicalism, while the rest of the as-yet free world does its best not to notice the march of extremism. And he more than intimated that he considers the current American, John Kerry-led diplomatic team to be, let’s be polite, naive.

Perhaps most reporters switched off after he’d delivered his headlines, making plain that “no international pressure will prevent us from acting with all force against a terrorist organization (Hamas) that seeks to destroy us,” and that Operation Protective Edge would go on until guaranteed calm was restored to Israel. If they did, they shouldn’t have.

Netanyahu has stressed often in the past that he doesn’t want Israel to become a binational state — implying that he favors some kind of accommodation with and separation from the Palestinians. 

But on Friday he made explicit that this could not extend to full Palestinian sovereignty. Why? Because, given the march of Islamic extremism across the Middle East, he said, Israel simply cannot afford to give up control over the territory immediately to its east, including the eastern border — that is, the border between Israel and Jordan, and the West Bank and Jordan.

The priority right now, Netanyahu stressed, was to “take care of Hamas.” But the wider lesson of the current escalation was that Israel had to ensure that “we don’t get another Gaza in Judea and Samaria.” Amid the current conflict, he elaborated, “I think the Israeli people understand now what I always say: that there cannot be a situation, under any agreement, in which we relinquish security control of the territory west of the River Jordan.”

Not relinquishing security control west of the Jordan, it should be emphasized, means not giving a Palestinian entity full sovereignty there. It means not acceding to Mahmoud Abbas’s demands, to Barack Obama’s demands, to the international community’s demands.

This is not merely demanding a demilitarized Palestine; it is insisting upon ongoing Israeli security oversight inside and at the borders of the West Bank. That sentence, quite simply, spells the end to the notion of Netanyahu consenting to the establishment of a Palestinian state. A less-than-sovereign entity? Maybe, though this will never satisfy the Palestinians or the international community. A fully sovereign Palestine? Out of the question.

He wasn’t saying that he doesn’t support a two-state solution. He was saying that it’s impossible. This was not a new, dramatic change of stance by the prime minister. It was a new, dramatic exposition of his long-held stance.

Naming both US Secretary of State John Kerry and his security adviser Gen. John Allen — who was charged by the secretary to draw up security proposals that the US argued could enable Israel to withdraw from most of the West Bank, including the Jordan Valley — Netanyahu hammered home the point: Never mind what the naive outsiders recommend, “I told John Kerry and General Allen, the Americans’ expert, ‘We live here, I live here, I know what we need to ensure the security of Israel’s people.’”

But while other states were collapsing, said Netanyahu, Israel was not — because of the strength of its leadership, its army and its people. “We will defend ourselves on every front, defensively and offensively,” he vowed.

And in a passage that was primarily directed at Israel’s Islamist enemies, but might equally be internalized by those he plainly regards as Israel’s muddle-headed self-styled friends, he added: “Nobody should mess with us.” Read the full story here.

Brutal violence waged by Islamist groups from Nigeria to Iraq and Syria has created a spike in concern over Islamic extremism in predominantly Muslim countries, a new Pew Research Center survey finds.

Concern "about Islamic extremism" in their countries increased by more than 10 percent during the past year in Lebanon, Tunisia, Jordan and Turkey, the survey shows.

The poll, with a margin of error of 3.8 percent, questioned 14,244 people in 14 countries with significant Muslim populations throughout April and May. That was before the Islamic State in Iraq and Syria (ISIS) seized control of Mosul and other Iraqi cities.

When it comes to supporting violence in defense of Islam, however, Palestinians harbor some of the most extreme views in the Muslim world. 

A quarter of those surveyed in the Palestinian territories expressed a favorable view toward al-Qaida, while only 59 percent expressed unfavorable views. That's down 9 percent from last year, Pew wrote.

In Egypt, 15 percent of the respondents view al-Qaida favorably.

When it comes to suicide bombings, a whopping 62 percent of Gaza residents said they are often or sometimes "justified against civilian targets in order to defend Islam from its enemies."

In the West Bank, 36 percent agreed suicides are often or sometimes justified. Together, Palestinian support added up to 46 percent. That's down, however, from a similar 2007 poll which found 70 percent support.

Only Bangladesh scored higher this year. Nearly 30 percent of Lebanese Muslims justified suicide bombings.

The Lebanon-based Hizballah, fighting to save dictator Bashar al-Assad in Syria, saw its popularity plummet throughout the region. Among Palestinians, 32 percent view the Iranian proxy favorably. More than 80 percent had negative attitudes toward Hizballah in Turkey, Egypt and Jordan.

Hamas is viewed favorably by only 35 percent of the respondents in both the West Bank and Gaza. In Gaza, where Hamas has run society for seven years, nearly two-thirds of the people had a negative view of the group. Recently, Hamas and Fatah, which runs the Palestinian Authority in the West Bank, joined in a fragile unity pact.

The full recording of the emergency call placed by one of three abducted teens, in which the kidnappers can be heard celebrating, was released.

Wednesday’s release of the full audio, which is 2 minutes, 9 seconds, comes a day after the first 49 seconds were released.

In the full tape, the kidnappers are heard singing in Arabic and cheering, as well as calling out “three!”

In the earlier recording, the teen who placed the call — believed to be Gilad Shaar — says he has been kidnapped. The kidnappers are heard yelling at the teens prior to sounds believed to be gunfire.

Blood and bullet casings reportedly were found in the burnt-out car that is believed to have been used to abduct the teens on June 12.

Their bodies were found Monday night in a West Bank field near Hebron.

Gilad’s mother told Ynet on Wednesday that the recording was not released until after the bodies of her son, Naftali Fraenkel and Eyal Yifrach were found out of fear that they would punish him if he were being held captive.

Police told the families that the gunshots heard in the recording could be blanks or that the guns were fired out the window, since casings were found outside of the burned-out car, she said.

“We had real hope that they were alive,” Shaar told Ynet.

The call was transferred to the operator’s supervisor, who also tried to speak to the caller. The supervisor reportedly called back eight times, first receiving no answer then being transferred to voice mail.

The supervisor did not report the call, believing it to be a prank. Several senior officers were demoted Monday after the release of an investigation that found “severe failure of conduct” in the handling of the call.

IDF forces set off explosives while raiding the homes of Marwan Quasma, 29, and Amar Abu Eisha, 32, who are suspected of having carrying out the kidnapping of the three Israeli teens, reported security sources Monday night. A third house was reportedly infiltrated by IDF forces as well.

 As security  forces intensify the search for the two suspects, large numbers of troops have converged on Hebron and the Beit Khalil region, closing off the area.
Security sources added that the explosions were set by IDF forces on one of the house's doorway in order to infiltrate the home.
Palestinian sources has reported that an infant was injured by debris from one of the blasts.
The operation came hours after security forces found bodies of Gil-Ad Shaer, Naftali Fraenkel, and Eyal Yifrah outside Hebron in the Beit Kahil region on 18th day of search; Shin Bet believes boys were killed shortly after abduction.

The Israeli Air-force pounded the Gaza strip overnight on Tuesday with 34 targets hit by jets after rockets fired from Gaza were aimed at southern Israeli communities. 

The airstrike reportedly targeted Hamas and Islamic Jihad assets in the Gaza Strip.

Earlier on Tuesday night, a rocket fired from Gaza landed in an open field near the Ashkelon coast. Israeli media reported that two more rockets hit Israeli communities in the South and caused damage to vehicles and a building.

The IDF Spokesman's office stated, "The IDF will continue to act decisively and to the extent required, until peace is returned to the residents of the State of Israel."

Meanwhile Hamas warned Israel on Monday against waging war on the Gaza Strip, saying this would “open the gates of hell” on Israel. Hamas spokesman Sami Abu Zuhri said that Israel bears responsibility for the latest escalation in the Gaza Strip.Hmmm....It should be obvious to all this can only be solved one way, occupy Gaza...kick Hamas in the sea....their buddies the Turks can pick them up.
