So now it turns out that Israel’s security, perhaps its very existence, will be jeopardized in order to give Barack Obama some post-presidential bragging points.

It was recently revealed that the President intends to publicly endorse specific borders and other terms for a Palestinian state, which he hopes will go down in history as the “Obama Framework.” But it would be more truthful to call it what it is — the Palestinian Framework.

The new “Obama Framework” scheme was reported on March 30 by Jackson Diehl, deputy editorial page editor of the Washington Post, a journalist whom the Obama administration has often used to leak information it wants to float for trial balloons.

Why does Obama intend to push forward with a plan that will be rejected by Israel and lead to a crisis in Israeli-American relations? It would be a “bid by Obama for a foreign policy legacy,” Diehl writes.

“At a minimum,” according to Diehl, Obama hopes that “diplomats who now talk of the ‘Clinton parameters’ from 2000 (a proposal by then-President Bill Clinton) would henceforth speak of the “Obama framework.”

So the President’s bid for a “legacy” should become Israel’s security nightmare?

Most disturbing are the specific terms that President Obama intends to embrace, as outlined by Diehl. They mirror the Palestinian position in almost every respect.

• “Palestine’s territory would be based on Israel pre-1967 borders with the West Bank and Gaza Strip, with territorial swaps to allow Israel’s annexation of some Jewish settlements.” However, it takes two sides to swap, so if the Palestinian Authority does not want to swap, there will be no swapping. Let’s call it for what it is: the pre-1967 borders. That would leave Israel nine miles wide at its vulnerable mid-section. A Palestinian tank column would be able to cut the Jewish state in two in a matter of minutes. A study by the Joint Chiefs of Staff after the 1967 war concluded that in order to have “a militarily defensible border,” Israel would need “control of the prominent high ground running north-south through the middle of West Jordan” [i.e. most of Judea-Samaria].”

• “Jerusalem would be the capital of both nations.” Since it is physically and administratively impossible to have two countries use the same territory as their capital, there would have to be a geographical division. The Arab position has always been that the pre-1967 parts of the city should be the Arab capital–meaning the Old City section of Jerusalem (where the Temple Mount and Western Wall are located), the Mount of Olives cemetery, and the neighborhoods of Ramot, French Hill, Gilo, and Har Homa, among others.

• “A description of security arrangements would glide over the question of exactly how the West Bank and Gaza would be prevented from becoming a launching pad for attacks on Israel.” Even when security arrangements have been spelled out, the Palestinians ignored them. Recall that the Oslo Accords required the Palestinian Authority to outlaw and disarm terrorist groups, and extradite terrorists to Israel. The PA has ignored Israel’s dozens of extradition requests and never disarmed or outlawed terror groups. The New York Times reported last year that Israeli troops had recently been forced to enter the Jenin refugee camp in pursuit of terrorists because although Jenin is under the “full control” of the PA, “the Palestinian [security forces] did not generally operate in refugee camps.” If this is how the PA has acted when security obligations are spelled out, imagine their response when “Palestine” ‘s obligations are not even put in writing.

• “The thorny question of Palestinian refugees would be dispatched with a call for an ‘agreed solution’.” This sets up a minefield for Israel. By failing to rule out the right of the Palestinians to flood Israel with millions of “refugees,” the Palestinians will keep on demanding that right, and will threaten war if they doesn’t get their way.

• “A stipulation that Israel would remain the homeland of the Jewish people.” Whether this stipulation will really be included in the U.N. resolution remains to be seen. If it is, it will be a meaningless gesture intended to mollify Israeli and world Jewish opposition — an attempt to get Israel to trade territory it needs to survive, for words that will be as worthless as Yasser Arafat’s 1993 pledge of “peace.”

In conclusion, Diehl conjectures that “As in the case with restoring relations with Cuba, Obama can also disregard the domestic political considerations that restrained him before he began his ‘fourth quarter’ in office.” Hmmm.....If it were not for the Republicnans he would probably bomb Israel himself.

The activists also say that Israeli soldiers with dual citizenship would be identified and hunted down to face justice for the killing of innocent people in Gaza.

“Many Jewish youths in Europe hold dual citizenship. They have Israeli passports and serve in the Israeli military. They are now fighting a war [in Gaza] and committing horrible crimes as Israeli soldiers. They return later to Europe as civilians and live an ordinary life, they are students or businessmen. Now we can prosecute those war criminals and establish a data base of Israeli soldiers and officers with European origins who are responsible for the Gaza massacre,” said Ramadan Abu Jazar from Global Network for Rights and Development.

The international boycott of Israeli products, or the Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions (BDS), is gaining momentum as Israel continues its aggression against Palestinians. The Auschwitz-Birkenau Museum this week launched a virtual tour on its website, where visitors can wander around the former death camp and view high-quality, panoramic images of the booths and camp exhibits, Israel’s NRG News said Wednesday.

The virtual tour project was under development in recent years, and was completed in time for the 70th anniversary of the liberation of the death camp complex by the Red Army, which will be commemorated this coming January.

Auschwitz served the Nazis as an extermination camp, from June 1940 to January 1945, and held some 150,000 inmates at any given time.

“Historians and analysts estimate the number of people murdered at Auschwitz somewhere between 2.1 million to 4 million, of whom the vast majority were Jews.

The majority of prisoners held at Auschwitz were killed in the various gas chambers though many died from starvation, forced labor, disease, shooting squads, and heinous medical experiments,” according to the Jewish Virtual Library. Read the full story here.

A huge spike in anti-Semitic attacks in this country, too — more than 200 in the last month; more in the last four weeks than the previous six months put together.

But no mention, not even a hint, as to who might be responsible. A complete mystery, isn’t it? We are left to try to fathom our own explanation — and it is very difficult, isn’t it? I think the giveaway, though, is some of the graffiti which accompanies these attacks: Allahu Akbar! Jihad! Stuff like that. It’s obvious — unusually literate, fundamentalist swans.

Here’s the thing. I will bet every penny I have and more besides that virtually all of the anti-Semitic attacks in this country — and in France and Germany and Belgium — have been perpetrated by Muslims.

And because they have been perpetrated by Muslims, that fact will simply not be reported, even when it is plainly obvious that the attackers were Muslim.

This is a peculiar state of affairs, to my mind. Imagine if it wasn’t Muslims or swans. Just pretend for a moment that of, say, 200 anti-Semitic attacks in the UK, a study discovered that 198 of them had been committed by Methodists.

That the one thing which 99 per cent of violent UK anti-Semites had in common was membership of the Methodist church. Do you think that such a fact would not be mentioned in news reports of such incidents, or in comment pieces by juveniles warning us how horrible anti-Semitism really is? 

I think the journos would be falling over themselves to nail the Methodists, and to delve and investigate the roots of this sectarian hatred. I think this fact would be considered salient and significant, germane to the issue at hand.

But not with Muslims. Instead, Owen [Jones of The Guardian] and the rest will first try to disguise the fact that it is Muslims making these attacks and then secondly, when it becomes patently obvious that it is Muslims, will try to insist that this fact is irrelevant and perhaps simply an unfortunate coincidence. And that anyway, because not all Muslims are anti-Semites, the fact is not worth reporting.

Remember, it is only three or four years ago that our most moderate and amenable Muslim organisation, the Muslim Council of Britain, refused to take part in Holocaust Day, so great was its animus toward Britain’s Jewish community.

To refuse to tell the truth when you know what the truth is constitutes bad journalistic practice, to my mind. But it is also deluding and utterly gutless. Read the full story here.

Study: Over half of Germans polled agreed that "Israel behaves toward the Palestinians the way the Nazis behaved toward the Jews."

The German Ministry of the Interior will undertake a study on anti-Semitism and anti-Zionism, a senior adviser to President Joachim Gauck told the Simon Wiesenthal Center in a letter obtained by The Jerusalem Post.

The letter, by Gauck’s senior diplomatic and foreign policy adviser, Ambassador Heinz-Peter Behr, came in response to a request sent last month by Wiesenthal Center associate dean Rabbi Abraham Cooper, who has been demanding such studies in correspondence with several European leaders.

In his request to Gauck, Cooper cited a study by the German Friedrich Ebert Foundation that found that nearly half of Germans, and 40 percent of Europeans overall believe that “Israel is conducting a war of extermination against the Palestinians.”

Another study, conducted by the University of Bielefeld, found that over half of Germans polled agreed that “Israel behaves toward the Palestinians the way the Nazis behaved toward the Jews,” he added.

Cooper asserted that such beliefs contribute to a growing sense of unease among European Jews and help to explain the spread of calls for boycotts against the Jewish state.

The first step to be taken in combating anti-Semitism and the delegitimization of Israel would be for national governments to “trace how such an utterly false and insidious image of Israel was created.”

“At the minimum, those who conceive and promote an unjustified and extreme criminal view of others should be exposed and held accountable in the court of public opinion,” he said. “We all know too well from the 1930s in Germany what can happen when the delegitimization and demonization of an empire goes unchallenged.”

In response, Behr said that the new study’s focus will “not only be on anti-Semitism, but also on German criticism of the State of Israel and its policies. George Orwell, in "1984", described the “Two Minute Hate”. It has come to pass - against Jews.

“The Jewish religion is under attack in Europe”, declared the Conference of European Rabbis president Pinchas Goldschmidt. Many polls (such as the study on behalf of the German Social Democratic Friedrich Ebert Foundation) bring an iconic number measuring the disaster: 150,000,000 Europeans have a delegitimizing and demonizing view of the State of Israel and its citizens.

For a large sector of Europe, the cities, skyscrapers, hospitals, cinemas, and schools on that tiny sliver of land named "Israel" are merely real estate that will be restored to Islam once this malefic Jewish form is swept away.

This is a popular mobilization against Israel in the “Raus mit Uns” spirit. 150,000,000 Western citizens believe that Zionism is a misconceived project to be brought to an end as soon as possible. It is the consequence of the Palestinian-Islamic psychological war (note: the European Union has just contributed 20 million euros to the payment of salaries and pensions for April of nearly 76,000 Palestinian Arabs).

It was an ordinary week of anti-Semitism in Europe.

The threat against Israel’s existence has become strategic in Rome, Berlin, London, Paris, Budapest, Amsterdam and Stockholm. Indiscriminate hatred against the Jews pervades European parliaments as much as in the Muslim madrasses. The call for Israel’s destruction echoes through Europe’s schools and mosques, textbooks and newspapers, TV series and pseudo “documentaries”.

It is today's greatest manipulation of opinion, of the kind immortalized by George Orwell in 1984 as a “Two Minute Hate”: Europe’s publicists, civil servants and educators incite violence directly when they describe Jews as “bloodsuckers”, “colonialists”, and many similar epithets. One step at a time, Europe is subverting the legitimacy of the Jewish people once again.

I have always felt an affinity with European intellectuals. But, it is with pain and surprise that I witness, one lifetime after Hitler’s Holocaust, the willingness of all too many to collaborate in the monstrification of the Jews. This is how Europe built an anti-Semitic public opinion of 150,000,000. This is how Israel has become an expendable myth among the European educated classes.

Europe is working hard to prevent all these necessary steps.

Because according to Europe’s mainstream, “peace” will prevail when Israel is dismantled, just like tranquility will prevail in the “Holy Land” when Zionism has been eliminated.

Europe is witnessing the creation of a majority according to which Israel is a superpower with extraordinary military power and wealth and os a committed and merciless enemy of humanity.

Europe’s public opinion has been persuaded to believe that Israel is a state that ought to be dismantled forthwith. Europe's population count today is 730,000, 000 citizens. What would happen if the anti-Semitic worm infected the mind of all of them?

At the official launch of two German-funded UNRWA projects in southern Lebanon, Director of UNRWA Affairs in Lebanon, Ann Dismorr, posed with a map that erases the State of Israel and presents all of it as "Palestine."

The map includes both the Palestinian Authority areas as well as all of Israel. Above the map is the Palestinian flag and the inscription "Arab Palestine." The text at the bottom of the map also says "Palestine." The neighboring countries Egypt, Jordan, Syria and Lebanon are all named on the map as is the Mediterranean Sea. Israel is not mentioned or designated anywhere. Several places and cities, both in Israel and from the Palestinian Authority, are included on the map of "Palestine": The Negev desert, Be'er Sheva, Rafah (Gaza), Hebron, Bethlehem, Jerusalem, Jaffa, Haifa, Acre, Tiberias and the Dead Sea.

Germany.......Finally ‘tracks down 50 suspected Auschwitz guards’.(RT).The former Auschwitz guards, who’ve never faced prosecution for their posts, were tracked down by the Central Office for the Investigation of National Socialist Crimes in Ludwigsburg.

The suspects may be charged with accessory to murder. The investigators possess the names and location details of the suspects, men in their 90s, who originate from all over Germany, the chief prosecutor Kurt Schrimm confirmed to WAZ-Mediengruppe on Friday.

He did not specify where the suspects are, but said some possibly moved to South America with the help of the Catholic Church. The federal law enforcement body is set to launch a preliminary investigation into the issue in the coming weeks.

The sentencing in 2011 of John Demjanjuk, a former guard at Sobibor concentration camp, set a precedent that allows authorities to bring proceedings against former concentration camp guards, even if the investigators cannot prove their direct involvement in the crime due to lack of witnesses, Schrimm told Westdeutsche Allgemeine Zeitung.

"From now on, any activity in a concentration camp is enough to stand trial for complicity in murder," the chief prosecutor said.

Demjanjuk, a native of Ukraine, lived in the United States after the war, but was stripped of citizenship and deported to Germany, where he was convicted of accessory to murder of about 28,000 people who died at Sobibor concentration camp based in occupied Poland. He was sentenced to 5 years in prison in May 2011.

The Munich Court then held that, although Demjanjuk cannot be imputed to any specific criminal acts, he “was part of the machine of destruction,” according to the verdict. He died in March last year in before the ruling came into effect.

The Auschwitz-Birkenau camp operated by the Third Reich in occupied Poland was the largest Nazi concentration camp during WWII. It was established by Third Reich's Minister of the Interior Heinrich Himmler as the place of the "final solution” in the policy to annihilate the Jewish people in Europe.

There the Nazis killed about 1.3 million people of diverse nationalities, around 90 percent of whom were Jewish, according to data given by the Memorial and Museum Auschwitz-Birkenau. Those not killed in the gas chambers died of starvation, forced labor, infectious diseases, individual executions, and medical experiments.

The center for solving crimes of National Socialism in Ludwigsburg was founded in 1958. Since then it has tracked down a total of 7,485 Nazi criminals, according to Westdeutsche Allgemeine Zeitung.Hmmmm......May God give them a swift and fitting eternal punishment.Read the full story here.

Israel prepares for Holocaust Remembrance Day - Preparations begin for 70th anniversary of the Warsaw Ghetto Uprising.(JPost).Preparations are underway across the country for the observance of Holocaust Remembrance Day, which begins on Sunday evening.

The central theme of this year’s ceremony is defiance and rebellion during the Holocaust, Yad Vashem announced, marking 70 years since the Warsaw Ghetto Uprising.

Memorial activities will begin with a state ceremony at Yad Vashem’s Warsaw Ghetto Square at 8 p.m., during which President Shimon Peres and Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu will deliver addresses. Canadian Foreign Minister John Baird will also be in attendance.

Yad Vashem chairman Avner Shalev will light a memorial torch, followed by Holocaust survivors Otto Pressburger, Eliezer Eizenschmidt, Miriam Liptcher and Baruch Kopold who will light torches. Sima Hochman will light the first torch in place of her husband, Peretz, who passed away last week.

Chief Rabbis Shlomo Amar and Yona Metzger will recited traditional Jewish prayers of mourning and remembrance and Cantor Azi Schwartz will sing a prayer for the souls of the martyrs.

The theme of heroism will be on further display at the Ghetto Fighters’ House in the Galilee on Sunday, with another six survivors lighting memorial torches at a ceremony that organizers believe will draw 10,000 attendees.

The survivors chosen to light torches are:

Dr. Lucien Lazare, a former member of the French underground;

Aviva Blum Waks, the daughter of Warsaw Ghetto fighter Avraham Blum; 

Semion Rozenfeld, a captured Red Army soldier who took part in an uprising in the Sobibor concentration camp; 

Yehuda “Poldek” Maymon, a member of the Polish resistance and a retired Israeli naval officer who was interned in Auschwitz; 

Julian Zanoda, an Algerian Jew who at age 10 took part in the underground revolt that facilitated the American invasion and prevented the destruction of Algerian Jewry; 

and Shimon Zuckerman, the son of Yitzhak “Antek” Zuckerman, one of the leaders of the Warsaw Ghetto Uprising and deputy to Mordechai Anielewicz.

Yad Vashem chief archivist Dr. Haim Gertner told The Jerusalem Post on Thursday that he believed that he and his researchers would “come close” to compiling the names of all six million Holocaust victims within the next three years.Hmmmm......'Never again'.Read the full story here.

Edouard Delruelle, president of the Centre for Equal Opportunities and Opposition to Racism, a Belgian government agency, said his organization documented 88 complaints of anti-Semitism in 2012, compared to 62 the previous year and 57 the year before that.

"The Jewish community is right to be concerned," Delruelle told Belgian daily La Derniere Heure in a Feb. 21 article. "The figures show that anti-Semitism persists in Belgium."

He said that, while 88 incidents may seem negligible, "These figures are merely indicative, the tip of the iceberg, because many victims do not complain."

The figures for 2012 include 11 cases of vandalism,15 verbal assaults on the street, 13 holocaust denials and 28 insults made online. Other attacks included intimidation and harassment.

Delruelle said that the figures correspond to the 58 percent rise in anti-Semitic incidents in France documented in a report by the SPCJ, the French-Jewish security unit, released this week.

That report said 614 anti-Semitic attacks were documented in France in 2012 compared to 389 in 2011.

France has a Jewish population of approximately half a million compared to Belgium's estimated 40,000 Jews.

The Palestinian Authority is changing its official name to Palestine following Thursday’s overwhelming vote in the UN General Assembly to upgrade the status of the Palestinian mission to that of non-member observer state. After a 12-year-ban, the Egyptian movie “Wall of Heroism” will finally be introduced to public next month. In telling the story of the October 6 War, the film focuses on the role of the Egyptian air defense forces, which apparently did not appeal to the regime of ousted president Hosni Mubarak. The movie was unblocked after it was approved by a special committee designed by the armed forces. Egyptian actress Ghada Ibrahim, who took part in the film, said she was “happy” the film was allowed to go on the big screen. Ibrahim told Al Arabiya that the film is one of the strongest movies that recorded “true stories and facts” about the successes of the “glorious war.” “I was happy to know that the movie is unblocked, as I consider it an exceptional step in my career life, she said. Ibrahim said Mubarak’s regime banned the movie for the past 12 years because it did not focus enough on the first air strike, which was led by Mubarak when he was commander of the Air Force. Other reports suggest that the movie was banned because it did not focus on the role of the armed forces as a whole. The movie, Ibrahim told Al Arabiya, concentrated on the massacre of Bahr-el-Bakar village, where an Israeli raid on a school killed about 30 children. Israeli envoy storms out of Ahmadinejad UN speech.(JPost).Israel's UN envoy Ron Prosor demonstratively walked out of a UN session Monday on the rule of law when Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad took the podium to speak. "There is no justice and no judge," Prosor said, after leaving the hall with one of his aides."The leader of an outlaw country that is a serial violator of the fundamental principles of the rule of law has no place in this hall" he said. "It is a shame and disgrace to give someone like him the opportunity to speak on such an important topic." Prosor said that letting Ahmadinejad address the UN on the issue of the rule of law was like "appointing a pyromaniac as fire chief." Ahmadinejad is scheduled to address the General Assembly on Wednesday, but there will be no Israeli delegates in the hall to storm out when he begins to speak because it is Yom Kippur.Knesset Speaker Reuben Rivlin has called on the international community to boycott the Iranian leader's address. Ahmadinejad's UN address on Monday came after he stated earlier in the day that Israel has "no roots" in the history of the Middle East and represents a disturbance for Iran which will be "eliminated." He also told The Washington Post over the weekend that the Israeli-Arab conflict should be resolved by allowing the Palestinians to vote the "Zionist regime" out of existence.Read the full story here.
