In a joint operation with local police, the Israel Security Agency (ISA or Shin Bet) arrested six Arab residents of the town of Hura in the Negev who formed a cell of the Islamic State (ISIS) terrorist group, authorities released for publication Monday.

An initial investigation revealed that the cell members conducted secret meetings in which they learned and discussed ISIS's radical Islamist ideology, while some of them actively worked to recruit friends and family members and encouraged them to travel to join ISIS in Syria.

Several of the group also planned to travel to Syria themselves.

Shockingly, four of those arrested were teachers at a school in the Negev. Investigators say they used their positions to try to brainwash children and encourage them to join ISIS as well.

In addition to those arrested, several other teachers and staff members - including the headteacher of one Negev school - have been questioned under suspicion of withholding knowledge of their colleagues' jihadist activities from authorities, and not acting to stop them.

The headteacher - who has not been named - denies having any knowledge of the extremist activity at his school.

Security services believe that several Israeli Arabs who previously traveled to Syria to join ISIS were part of the same cell. Read the full story here.

During a presser on Saturday, Egypt’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs handed international media representatives guidelines instructing them to refrain from using “religious or faith based terminology” when describing terrorist groups.

This comes amid a growing crackdown on media through restrictive laws, the arrests of journalists and threatening messages to foreign media representatives and outlets.

The Foreign Affairs Ministry has sent foreign media in Egypt several angry statements recently criticizing their coverage of the ongoing state-led crackdown on terrorism.

In its most recent statement, the Foreign Ministry advised international press to stay away from using terms such as “Islamists,” “Jihadists”, “Islamic State,” and “fundamentalists” while covering terrorist attacks.

This follows a large scale terrorist attack in North Sinai last Wednesday, which targeted a number of military posts simultaneously and escalated into prolonged clashes between militants and the military, causing over 100 deaths.

The group formerly known as Ansar Beit al-Maqdes, which declared itself an affiliate of the Islamic State, calling itself the “Province of Sinai,” claimed the attack.

The Ministry claimed that using the self-proclaimed Islamic name of the group “tarnishes the image of Islam, as it falsely attaches the horrendous acts of these extremist groups to the faith.”

The Ministry offers alternatives to be used by media outlets when referring to terrorist groups, including “slaughterer, executioner, assassins, slayers, destroyers, eradicators.”

The Ministry has issued several similar statements recently accusing foreign media outlets of distorting the news in pursuit of foreign agendas.   Hmmmm.....My guess they just copied the BBC or Obama White House guidelines.Read the full story here.

Former Imam Of Mecca's Grand Mosque: 'There Is No Escaping Reform, To Bring Islam Back To Its Path Of Tolerance'. (Memri).

In a February 22, 2015 article in the Saudi daily Al-Riyadh, Sheikh 'Adel Al-Kalbani, the former imam of the Grand Mosque in Mecca, attacked the extremism of the Islamic State (ISIS) and groups like it.

He said that it takes more than mere words, condemnation, and even fatwas to halt the spread of ISIS's ideas and prevent young people from joining its ranks – it requires reform in Islam that will restore its original tolerant character.

Stating that Islam is fundamentally tolerant and that the Prophet and his Companions were lenient with those who disagreed with them, Al-Kalbani added that today the Muslims are shackling themselves to the strict interpretations by "unrivaled leading scholars" and see any other interpretation  as deviation from the straight path. Such strict interpretation, he said, serves extremists, who go so far as to behead those who disagree with them.

Al-Kalbani then called on clerics to step up their da'wa efforts and to spread the ideas of moderateness and acceptance of others, and to vary their approach in ways "that are appropriate to the spirit of the times but do not contradict the original spirit of Islam."

In contrast, the number of anti-Semitic acts recorded doubled.

It is 851 against 423 in 2013. An increase of 101%, and they were all committed by Muslims.

The divide is widening between firstly ethnic French more tolerant with respect to diversity and immigration, and French Muslims increasingly violent against the Jews.

Thus in 2014, the violent actions committed by Muslims against Jews increased by 130% compared to 2013.

And the number of violent attacks by French Muslims in 2014 was 241 against 105 in 2013.

Taking all figures, more than half of racist acts in France in 2014 were the work of Muslims and were directed against the Jews.

If we want to note that Jews represent less than 1% of the French population, this means that less than 1% of the citizens of the country are the target of half of all racist acts in France, and they are committed by Muslims.

Following are excerpts from an interview with Egyptian journalist and TV host Ibrahim Issa, which aired on ON TV on February 3, 2015:

Ibrahim Issa: Whenever ISIS carries out an act of barbarity, such as decapitations, throat slitting, or the burning of a person alive, as they did today, various sheiks tell you – if they even bother to say anything – that this has nothing to do with Islam, that Islam is not to blame, and whatever. But when the people of ISIS perpetrate slaughter, murder, rape, immolation, and all those barbaric crimes, they say that they are relying on the sharia. They say that this is based on a certain hadith, on a certain Quranic chapter, on a certain saying of Ibn Taymiyyah, or on some historical event. To tell the truth, everything that ISIS says is correct.

This should not come as a surprise to anyone, as a surprise to anyone, and nobody should be shocked by what I am saying. All the evidence and references that ISIS provides to justify its crimes, its barbarity, and its horrifying, criminal, and despicable violence… All the evidence and references that ISIS provides, claiming that they can be found in the books of history, jurisprudence, and law, are, indeed, to be found there, and anyone who says otherwise is lying. […]

When they kill a person claiming that he is an infidel, when they rape women, when they kill prisoners, and when they slaughter and decapitate people, they say that the Prophet Muhammad said so. Indeed, the Prophet said so! What was the context? The interpretation? That's a whole different story.

None of those [Al-Azhar clerics] who purport to be moderate, and who were told by President Al-Sisi to change the religious discourse, have the courage – not a single grain of courage – to admit that these things are indeed to be found [in Islamic sources] and are [morally] wrong.

If it is claimed that a certain companion of the Prophet did this or that, you should respond by saying that he was morally wrong. I would like to see a single Al-Azhar cleric in Egypt have the courage to admit that Abu Bakr burned a man alive. That's right. He burned Fuja'ah [Al-Sulami]. This is a well-known historical story. […]

Was Abu Bakr morally wrong to burn that man alive? Nobody dares to say so. So we are left in this vicious circle, and you can expect more barbarity, because all this barbarity is sacred.

It is sacred. This barbarity is wrapped in religion. It is immersed in religion. It is all based on religion. Your mission [as a cleric] is to say that while it is part of our religion, the interpretation is wrong. Do not tell people that Islam has nothing to do with this.

Researchers in Germany have discovered that a manuscript of Qur’an written between 20 and 40 years after the Prophet Muhammad’s death, making it one of the earliest copies of the Islamic holy book known to be in existence.

Scholars at the Coranica Project, part of the University of Tübingen, examined a manuscript written in Kufic script, one of the oldest forms of Arabic writing. Using carbon-14 dating on three samples of the manuscript parchment, the researchers concluded that it was more than 95 percent likely to have originated in the period 649-675 AD.

The manuscript is one of more than 20 fragments of Kufic script held by the Tübingen University Library. This particular item was donated to the university in the 19th century.

In the video the cameraman declares: “Today is the slave market day,” and informs the audience that each fighter will receive “his share”.

The men discuss how much each slave is worth, with one fighter claiming that he will pay more for a girl with “blue eyes” and another saying he wanted a 15-year-old girl with green eyes. One man wants to exchange a female slave for a Glock gun.

Although difficult to verify, from the men’s accents it is believed they originate from Saudi Arabia, and are discussing a market in Mosul, Iraq. Hmmm.....I post this reluctantly but the world needs to see what hard line Islam is in it's core.

Iran's new home-made anti-helicopter gun, 'Arash', is one of the few in the world.

Arash, a shoulder-launched gun, was unveiled in an exhibition of the weapons and equipment of the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) Ground Force on Wednesday and can also be used against ground and armored targets and enemy trenches.

Arash weighs between 18 to 20 kilograms, fires 20mm bullets and can be used to target hostile helicopters in a range of 2,000 to 2,200 meters.

The 180cm-long weapon is also equipped with optical cameras.

Iran has made major breakthroughs in arms production in the last three decades. Tehran launched an arms development program during the 1980-88 Iraqi imposed war on Iran to compensate for a US weapons embargo. Since 1992, Iran has produced its own tanks, armored personnel carriers, missiles and fighter planes.

Yet, Iranian officials have always stressed that the country's military and arms programs serve defensive purposes and should not be perceived as a threat to any other country.

In February, the IRGC test-fired a shoulder-launched weapon with the capability of shooting down choppers in its massive wargames, codenamed Payambar-e Azam 8 (The Great Prophet 8), in Southern Iran. The gun could be Arash, but military officials did not mention its name then.

Elaborating on the missions of the drills, Spokesman of the Wargames General Hamid Sarkheili told reporters that the new shoulder-launched anti-chopper weapons which have been designed and produced by the IRGC's local experts would be delivered to the operating units in the wargames.

"The 20-mm shoulder-launched missile is an anti-chopper weapon which can hit targets from a distance of 1,400 meters," Sarkheili stated.

Turkey's population has increased by 26 percent in the last 20 years, and has also experienced dramatic increases in crime rates, with a 400 percent surge in drug-related crimes, theft and homicide, Today's Zaman reported.

In 1994, the number of arrested prisoners was recorded as 38,931; 20 years later, as of the beginning of October, the number of prisoners this year has reached 152,335.

Contrary to what Turkish leadership claims the more 'religious' the country became, the higher the overall crime rates.

Even during the Sept. 12, 1980 coup d'état period that lasted until 1983, though there were large numbers of innocent people arrested, it only amounted to 80,000 prisoners.

According to the data provided by the Ministry of Justice, the crime rate is growing with each passing day.

According to the statistics provided, the population of Turkey has increased from 60 million to 76 million in 20 years and the crime rate has increased by 26 percent.

The number of people who have been arrested for robbery is 30,992, the number for drug trade offenses is 26,697, and the number of those arrested for homicide has reached 26,578 this year as of September.

Furthermore, according to the statistics there are 794 minors from the 12 to 17-year-old age group who have been convicted, and 7,018 convicts in the 18 to 20-year-old age group.

In comparison to previous years, this is a 40 percent increase in crimes like those related to the drug trade, robbery, extortion and homicide committed by minors and young adults.  Hmmm...If Europe needed another reason to keep Turkey out of Europe....here's one.
